they are help tags, you disable them in Preferences>Display>General. uncheck the box that says show help tags

Got exact same problem, was told to delete all old apple, quick time and bonjoir from computer then it would work. I use a programme called malware bytes and this takes everthing out of your computer right down to the roots but unfortunately I still have same problem

It seems that recently I have started having annoying yellow boxes appearing when I hover over thing in the finder window. This is something that I didn't have going on in the previous 3 versions of Mac OS X.

This appears to be a third party extention of some sort with the bright yellow background? Start there if you modified.

I finally found the way to DISABLE the annoying sound effect in Windows

I tried looking around the site for some answers to get rid of the annoying sound effect after a page loads in iTunes 8 on Windows Vista. I have found the answer!
*Vista users:* Right click on your desktop, and then go all the way down and click "Personalize". Then in personalize, click "Sounds". Scroll down until you see the iTunes category. Then simply click the "Page load complete" sound and choose (None) as the sound.
Annoying sound DISABLED.

How to Pass Variables from One Application to Another Pop Up Window

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone on the list has tried calling up a
pop up manager, and have two other variables imported for secondary
usage. I have tried using [Bindable], but this does not seem to be
working, and I am still getting errors that tells me that the
variables are "not defined" when it gets passed to another
HTTPService. I tried embedding the Pop Up Manager in the same
application as the one that is supposed to "pass the variables,"
but it no longer acts as a pop up window.
Could anyone please tell me where I can find the answers for
this?

Hi,
I am trying to display some data on the Child window that
would need to take the data from the parent titleWindow, which
could be drop down menus, text labels or combo boxes. I would need
to use a HTTPService on the child dialog box to accomplish task I
think, but the problem is, how would I get the information from its
parent window? The example I have are all about how the text input
from the child window gets feed back to the parent.
Would I need to create a "reverse" declaration or something
so I can access the information from the parent in the child
window?
I hope this makes sense.

Shutting off the annoying yellow text box thing.

Does anyone know how I can shut off the yellow text box that pops up when I stop the curser on a hyperlink?
I rarely use it and it's just too annoying to me.

I was referring to showing *the full URL of a link* in a tooltip when you hover over the link. Is that enabled by default in Safari 3? My impression is that is not. (It was enabled by default in a previous version of Safari, which annoyed many people and caused quite the uproar here. )
As mentioned above and in my edit, showing URLs in tooltips can be enabled/disabled. Showing title text in tooltips doesn't seem to be something you can disable, or at least not as easily.
You can check whether URL tooltips are turned on for Safari by checking its .plist file for the lines:

<string>N</string>
Where N=0 means URL tooltips are turned off, and N=1 means they're turned on.

in a 16 bit environment and device drivers are used to access the hardware. What about when Windows is running in an SVGA mode using VESA BIOS Extensions (VBE), for example when loading the splash screen or if a display driver can't be loaded. Doesn't

I disabled my graphics adapter so that Windows was using the VGASAVE driver and the ROM was still disabled. I'm just wondering
how this works?
So basically my questions are does Windows disable the video BIOS and if so how does Windows use the graphics card and VBE in SVGA modes without being able to use the video BIOS?

How to re-size the related links pop-up window

Hi,
when clicking on related Links, it will popup a window, how to resize that window? I tried on related links iview, which has Height of External Window (Pixels)
and Width of External Window (Pixels). But it does not work, also tried on iviews that assigned as related links, no luck there either, any idea? Thanks

Javascript and then mess with these values to achieve the results you want.

Likely the bottom one will work, just change "screen.availWidth" to half your screen pixel width.
javascript:self.moveTo(0,0);self.resizeTo(960,screen.availHeight);
Then paste into your Safari address bar, then click and drag the small left icon to your toolbar and when it asks to rename, rename it accordingly.
Now all you have to do is click the button it makes and your screen adjusts.

Why is the stored password pop-over window so massive, so irritating, and how the @#$%#$% do I get rid of it?

Ok, so FF just updated itself to the new version. It appears Mozilla has done everything possible to add all the annoyances of the Internet Explorer interface to FF.
My issue is the stored password popup. It's massive. It blocks the page view, and I can't ignore it easily like the older style that just slid a small button, unobtrusively, in the corner.
This is just another irritation in addition to the completely uncalled for removal of the status bar (no I'm not going to install another plugin to "fix" it), and the sudden change to the order of some contextual menu items (open new tab/window are reversed. wtf?)

Try signing out and then back in again by going into Settings>Store>Apple ID:>Sign Out>

Turn off the automatic launch off the CC app on system start-up and all that stuff like the automated update checks. Of course this will also require to not use any web-based features in the apps themselves like the sync or TypeKit or the pop-ups will come back with a vengeance...

How do I get rid of an annoying yellow box displaying file data?

Within the last couple of days a yellow box displaying details of any graphic file beneath the cursor has started to appear when I switch spaces. It stays on screen for ten seconds then disappears. Clicking the mouse also removes it. It is very irritating. I recall something like this happening some time ago and was told how to remove it, but don't remember how. I would welcome suggestions.

I'm not seeing anything like that. Did you install anything lately that might be causing that?

How do I open an iview in a FULL pop up window

I am trying to open an iview in a new window, and I want to display this new window in full page. I tried "FULL_PAGE" in the drop down option for Height Type. But it didn't work. I know that you can display the pop window in a full screen mode in "Window Features" field in the iview, but full screen is not what I am looking for. I want to make the window maximized instead of full screen (which won't have the "x" close button).

Have you tried changing iView property <b>Launch in New Window</b> to <b>Display in Separate Window</b>?
Also you can do it using java script as,
