How the heck do you remove the battery cover on a ...

Please don't tell me to push the release button and slide the cover - been trying that all day, and my fingers are sore from doing it. Help!!!!

Hold the phone in one hand but try to avoid covering the top of the back cover with that hand, using "gentle" pressure press the button at the bottom (if you press too hard you'll jam the cover. Using your thumb on your other hand press up (not in as well)against the moulding around the camera and that should do it. If it wont come off when using reasonable force I would take it to a CNSP for repair.Message Edited by megadodo on 17-Aug-2006

    Hi WG!
    Thanks for posting.
There is a sliding lock switch on the battery door that needs to be slid to one side as you also push the battery door out.  Please ensure you are doing both at the same time, otherwise the battery door remains locked.

  • My Macbook (4,1) has a warp on the bottom, the battery cover, I think.  Is this a serious problem?

Aside from the battery cover being slighly warped, there is an ashy ring on one side of the cover.  I'm wondering if I simply need to replace the battery.  The  Macbook is working fine, so I'm hoping this is nothing serious.

Thanks, Dave!  If it's that simple, I'll be happy.  I have an Apple authorized reseller in town, and I can check with him, too, and hopefully get a new battery quickly.
    I appreciate the quick response!

    You should read the manual.
    Just remove the sim card:

  • HT5510 WHY IN THE HECK WOULD YOU REMOVE APP GIFTING FROM IOS 6???

WHY would you remove this feature from iOS 6? It makes absolutely no sense why you would add so many great features and then remove such a convenient and simple way to be able to gift an app to a friend or family!!! I bought my little sister an iPad mostly so that I could FaceTime with my niece, but she doesn't have a whole lot of money to spare on even inexpensive apps so app gifting was such a simple and effective way for me to get apps to her.
Apple has made such an amazing revolutionary device, and gone to such lengths to free the iPad from being a "PC accessory", dependent on a computer to setup, sync, and so on. Cutting it's cord with the addition of iCloud, making the iPad a completely self sufficient device capable of virtually everything which not so long ago required a full fledged computer. I don't even remember the last time I actually even turned my computer on because Apple had done such an amazing job at providing the iPad with the functionality to serve all of my needs independently. So now I suppose I'm thankful I didn't end up selling off my computer like I had planned, since I'll have to dust it off occasionally just to send my sister a $.99 cent app!? Removing app gifting from within iOS is a HUGE mistake not to mention taking a step backwards requiring you to use iTunes on a computer just to gift a simple little app? Come on Apple, this is ABSURD, ADD IT BACK to iOS NOW!!! Ultimately this dumb maneuver has to be cutting into profits so it's a lose/lose for the app developers, for myself and others who gifted apps fairly frequently, as well Apple themselves! It completely blows my mind as to why they would even think of taking that option out of iOS!

  • Any ideas on how to prevent the battery cover from falling out?

My battery cover continuously falls out.  Is there something I am doing wrong?

Usually it's because the cover isn't fully inserted for the latch to catch.   The left photo is incorrect.  The right photo shows the cover fully inserted.   Just push harder on each side of the latch.

  • I can't get the battery cover on my macbook to close properly.

  • How the heck do you remove the Open Firmware?

Ok so here is the problem. I have a Powerbook G4 (the A1095 model). Now first off ever since I got the thing the second ram slot never worked. But my main problem is that anytime I try to boot form a DVD, use the Firewire, or reset the PRAM and NVRAM I keep getting asked for some password and a big lock button shows up.
Now after many weeks and almost completely giving up I found out that somehow open firmware was used to put in a password. Now I have tried absolutely every password I have ever used, and even some other things and nothing works.
I honestly don't know how this was even set but if it was from me it was obviously an accident. Now the other thing is that I don't have any ADMIN password. I have it set to blank so you just hit enter to login/install things. I wonder if this has anything to do with the open firmware issue???
I have tried as I said searching apple.com and many many many many many other places to find a way to fix this problem but can't find anything even close to a possible solution. I have 3 OSX boot disks, I have even tried using an Umbuntu CD to attempt to use the disk utility on there but nothing works.
To anyone out there I have tried letting the main batter AND the PRAM battery run dead and that still seams to change nothing. So I imagine its a saved file someplace on the main board. Oh and I also removed the Hard drive, and PRAM battery and attempted to boot like that but still nothing works.
I can boot up and use the computer just fine. Surfing the web, installing programs, etc. all work fine. I just can't use the FireWire transfer or Boot from anything but the main HD.
Please someone help me with this. I need to get my personal information off this computer and reinstall OSX on it. Oh and last thing, Im not sure if it has anything to do with it but the rear two fans do not seem to work either. My other G4 Powerbook seemed to have the same problem too though. Replacing the fans on that one fixed the issue.
Anyway I waisted over $500 to get another laptop (one model newer) all because of this problem and I really need to fix this so I don't have to worry about my personal information and I can finally either use it or sell it. This is such a frustrating issue, what can I do???
THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP OR AT LEAST POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION (PLEASE DON'T TELL ME TO GO TO THE APPLE STORE. I HAVE FIXED PROBLEMS THEY COULDN'T BEFORE AND I CAN'T AFFORD THE $300 BILL TO HAVE THEM INSPECT IT, PLUS THIS MODEL IS OUT OF DATE AND THEY WON'T FIX THEM ANYMORE ANYWAY. FYI TO ALL YOU EARLY MODEL G4 USERS!)

    Since http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1352 says:
Warning: The Open Firmware Password can be reset and changed by any one of the following (except MacBook Air):
1-By any administrator user, as designated in the Accounts preferences (or in Server Admin).
2-Via physical access to the inside of the computer.
3-When the computer is started up in Mac OS 9.

right click on the printer in Devices and Printers. select printing preferences. If you see an option for borderless  (above paper size) select it as an exeriment to see if that resolves the problem. Some specific paper types can be tricky to deal with. I experienced the issue  with a diffent brand printer and that was what resolved it for me.
