How they fit videos onto the Touch ...

Has anyone noticed that the videos Apple supports are in 640x480 format (aspect ratio 4:3), but the Touch screen is 480x320 (3:2 ratio)? Assuming the pixels are square, and you don't stretch in one direction over the other thereby distorting the image, there are only two ways to accomodate the movie. One is to match widths. Here, the original movie is scaled to fit the width of the Touch (while in landscape, or "wide-screen" mode, of course). This would cut off a thin band on top and bottom of the movie that you would see missing.
The other, which I think they do, is to match heights. Here the movie is scaled to fit top to bottom. This leaves thin vertical bands on the left and right of the Touch screen "unused" but you don't notice it as much as the full movie is seen.
Thoughts?

Thanks Johnathan. I know that My comment was more of a curiosity that given the common 640x480 format of so many images/videos (4:3 ratio) that Apple would go to a 480x320 screen, which results in a bit of it not used during video playback.

  • How do i get videos onto the new ipod?

haven't been able to figure out how to get videos onto the ipod. tried to click and drag a home video into the video section but that didn't work. any help would be greatly appreciated.
also, where do i go to get an episode to download onto the ipod?

    Hi Sebastian,
Use iTunes to put videos onto your iPod. Make sure you have the newest version (by pressing Help, then selecting check for iTunes updates).
Once you are sure you have the newest version of iTunes, just press File -> add file to library, or drag your video file onto the iTunes library. Then all you need to do is update your iPod.

  • Solution Manager - NWA & CEN - How they fit in ?

    Hi,
I have been working with XI and have come across the central monitoring system CEN and the netweaver administrator (NWA) tools.
Does anyone know how they fit into Solution Manager. Especially why you have solution Manager Diagnostics and NWA....are they not the same thing?
Currently it looks like we'll have an XI landscape being monitored by CEN & NWA and then the same landscape also being monitored by solution manager. This seems like a double up of work to me.
    Thanks
    Jim

    Hi Pascal,
    Thank for that...
Would i be right in saying then that CEN is part of solution manager 4.0 i.e comes with webas 640/700 anyway ??
So for a "perfect/easy" support environment you would have sol man 4.0 managing all your abap components from both a read/write point of view and then sol man managing j2ee area on a read only basis while NWA administering your j2ee's on a read/write basis.
And ideally have all these components looking at the same SLD.
    Hope above make sense
    Cheers
    Jim

  • How to add Video on the OAF page like youtube ?

Any one know how to add Video on the page?

If you are getting HTML code from one of these slideshow.com places, you can add this code to your iWeb pages with a little bit of work. Two things to keep in mind...1. No way to do this via iWeb directly, so it involves editing the published html files, and 2. Because iWeb republishes the html files whenever you update the your webpage, you will lose your changes and have to redo them to add your slideshows back.
The general directions are as follows...
    1. Decide where you want your slideshow and know exactly what dimensions you need.
    2. Insert a text box onto your page and adjust its size to exactly your dimensions.
    3. Type in some uniquely identifiable text like, "SLIDESHOWHERE" without changing the font or anything else...just type it in.
    4. Publish your page with iWeb.
    5. Find the html file associated with your published page (either on your iDisk or in a folder depending on how you published) and open it in any text editor (like Microsoft Word, or Textedit, or anything). You may need to set your text editor to "ignore rich text" or to "show HTML source".
    6. Scroll through the html file and locate your placeholder text, e.g. "SLIDESHOWHERE".
    7. Replace the placeholder text with your html code and save your page.
That's it. You should see your slideshow element show up in Safari where you placed the text box in iWeb!

  • Can you transfer hd video directly from an ipod and then EDIT that video in imovie? I will be on the road and wont have a mac, just an ipad 2 and ipod touch. I want to shoot video on the touch and edit it on the ipad. Thanks!

Can you transfer hd video directly from an ipod touch to the ipad 2 and then EDIT that video in imovie? I will be on the road and wont have a mac, just an ipad 2 and ipod touch. I want to shoot video on the touch and edit it on the ipad. Thanks!

    Thanks Tgara.
Its funny. So far the responses have been 50/50 on this question. I even asked two seperate Apple Store employees here in NYC, and got two different answers! One said yes, the other no.
    Argh!
I know from watching the keynote speech about icloud and iOS 5 that you will be able to cut the cord between the pc and ios devices like the ipad. No more need to sync them via a cord. So will that mean i would then be able to load video directly to the ipad via tha cam kit connector from my ipod? Also i wonder if/when Apple will allow HD video from on Apple devices like a canon dslr to be able to transfer to the ipad via the cam kit connector AND be able to EDIT that footage in imovie for the ipad. Speaking of imovie for the ipad...i hope it gets an update soon as well.
Anyway....with the macbook airs getting updated next week with thunderbolt and new sandy bridge chips....i may just get one of them instead of the ipad 2 for editing video on the road. Still...i prefer surfing the web experience on the ipad. Grrrrrrr. **** youuuuuuu Apple!!! Lol

  • Simple way to get a photo onto the Touch?

Is there any way--including 3rd party app--to get a single photo, or a few pics, onto the Touch? Sometimes I just want to get something on the Touch without the bother of adding it to iPhoto or creating a dedicated folder, copying the pic to it, manually designating that folder in iTunes, etc.
In this case, I have a picture of a menu I found online, and I want to be able to reference it to call in an order when I'm out. Since I can't count on available wifi to retrieve it, I'd like to easily get it onto the Touch for when I need it.

or call it up when you do have wifi, hold your finger on it, and save the photo to your ipod.

  • How do I put these songs and videos onto the Music App?

How do I load mp3 content, videos, and other content from applications onto the music app? For example, I have applications such as Video Hunter Pro that downloads youtube videos, but how do I put the videos or audio track into my Music app? I don't want to constantly switch apps. For iTunes on all devices.

Only items directly downloaded from iTunes Store or synced over from iTunes on a computer can be placed in the music or video app.

I am trying to connect my macbook pro to the tv so I can show the video on the computer on the tv. I have a 2014 macbook pro and was trying to do it through the hdmi port but must be doing something wrong.

It would be helpful if you indicated the EXACT model/year MBP that you have and the current OSX.
Have you opened System Preferences>Displays and does it show 'ARRANGEMENT' as an option?
Have you read the TV instruction manual?

  • What do I need to enable me to put JVC Everio video onto the MacbookPro Snow Leopard bought November2009

    Hello to all,
I am still learning how to use this Macbook Pro and cannot understand why there is no app for
putting JVC Everio video onto my laptop in order to edit and make a disc of my films while on
holiday so that I can send the edited pieces to our daughter in New Zealand where we took them.
I have been into the Apple Store in San Fransisco this month and they could not help as the
laptop was then at home in the UK.
    Are there any apps?
Do I need to buy a reader I have been told by a salesman?
Should I update the Snow Leopard to Lion?
Should I consider any updrade to the Macbook Pro?
Do I need to consider going back to school at age 64 tomix with 5 year olds who seem to understand
computers better than us old grumpies!!!
Is there a site or disc which can take me through any possible remedy to my problems?
Any help will be appreciated especially from people who know what they are talking about.
    Thank you

MacBook Pro and Mac Pro are not the same machine.   The MacBook Pro is a notebook, and the Mac Pro is a desktop.   Regardless, the question you have pertains more to Quicktime or iMovie, as both those are video importing applications.     Do you wish me to ask a moderator to redirect your question to either forum?
    There are forums for each.
One application I found is great for importing non-Apple compatible video formats is http://www.etinysoft.com/total-video-converter-hd.html though you may need to get a Flash Card reader that supports your camera's flash card on a Mac to import the video.

  • How to fit video to DVD-5?

Hi: I have been reading the faqs and forums, and pulling info from a variety of sources, but I am still confussed about how to fit my video to a DVd-5 using Encore. I have previsouly made DVds using Encore 1 & 2.0, so I know the process. But those were smaller projects under 1 hour running time. My current project is approaching 100 minutes for the main feature with small extras, and some basic menus.
I have read that I should be able to fit 110-130 minutes max on a DVD-5. I have also read to realistically expect something closer to 60-75 minutes. Which is it?
My footage is sport oriented so their is movement and & action, lots of transitions, & some composting.
Can someone tell me how do I fit 100 minutes to DVD-5, if that is possible?
I am editing my feature in PPro 1.5. I export 5-10 minute segments as DV AVI files, and then color adjust etc in AE 7.0., which I have been saving as Microsoft DV. I was planning on final assembly of all segments in AE 7.0, & export the whole feature from AE 7.0 as Microsfot DV. But I think this makes my feature file too big and it won;t fit to DVD-5. Is there another codec I should be using for final output to Encore?
What if I assembled in PPro 1.5 and exported to AE for final color. Is there a different codec I should be using to help it fit later on?
Also, I usually leave Encore set to automatic transcode and let it figure whats best. Should I be picking soemthing different?
Thanks and sorry if this has been cover before

  • Viewing embedded video on the touch problems

I post quicktime videos on my web page. They are encoded in h.264 the audio is ACC. I use Apples approved javascript solution for posting Quicktime Videos to the web to avoid problems with Internet Explorer that began a couple of years ago. I recently got an iPod Touch and tried to view the videos at my site but it doesn't work. I can view apple trailers and I assume they also use the javascript, does anyone know. I can also view video that use the old embed method without the javascript, or just a link to the video works. Does anyone have any suggestions. My site is http://onegoodmove.org

do you see the picture and touch it or are you touching the download link?
