How to access a mini dvd disk

How do i access a mini dvd disk with either my dual G4 (mirror doors 1.25GHz) or my new MacBook (2.1 GHz duo Intel)? I'm assuming I need a dvd device with a center button (like my really old iBook with a CD drive)
Thanks.

I was given the disk, so no camera.
So I either get an external tray load DVD device with that center button (my G4 has a tray loading DVD, but no center button/post), or get a hold of the miniDVD camera it seems?

    Complements of Kappy:
    Try:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
    left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
    your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject
    If this fails then try this:
    Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • How to access Time Capsule 2013 disk from Windows 7

    I have seen several (older) threads that suggest that you can access the Time Capsule disk from Windows 7 using Windows Explorer and navigating to \\Time-Capsule-Name.  However, I have tried this repeatedly and just cannot get it to work.
    Could this be a bug or unsupported in the latest 2013 Time Capsule?
    In Airport Utility, under Disks > File Sharing, I have Enable File Sharing checked.  The workgroup is WORKGROUP.
    The IP address is 192.168.1.4.  I am able to ping it successfully; I just cannot access it through Windows Explorer.
    Am I missing something?  Please help!

    Are you running homegroup on the PC..??
    That should definitely be turned off!!
    Homegroup can mess things up.
    I would try with ipv6 off but that might make no difference at all.. leave it set to local-link if it doesn't do anything.
    There was issues when the Gen4 came out with security. Windows uses too high an encryption level..
    See info here.
    http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/changing-file-encryption-settings-on-a-win dows-7-h.pageCd-storyboard,pageNum-5.html
    Change to 40 or 56 bit encyrption.
    Unfortunately some of the controls you think you are setting on the TC are not really being set at all.. eg I doubt you are actually changing the workgroup.. if possible though you should have disk access set to lowest level .. device password and you should also turn on guest account to read and write.. that usually solved access for me in earlier TC .. I haven't bought an AC for the moment.. because.. well I believe I have done my time on the war front. I bled out already on the bleeding edge.. time for you to do it and I can reap the benefits on the second hardware revision and about the 10th firmware update.
    Other things I would try if the above don't work.
    Factory reset and start over.. you moved the IP of the TC and that is unwise.
    Do not worry about the various settings.. do the factory reset.. in full isolation from the internet. ie TC plugged into the windows computer. Nothing else in either..
    Now try at the default IP of the TC..
    \\10.0.1.1
    Beyond that you need another computer to try or some device. iOS would be fine... in normal situation you would test other protocols, eg ftp but TC offers only SMB and AFP.. there are no AFP clients for windows that I have heard of.. you might have success if you boot the PC from a linux live cd.. it should be able to read AFP even if it cannot write to it. But the SMB is more important. If linux can access with SMB protocol and windows cannot.. the issue is windws OS.
    Or iOS devices have some AFP file browsers available but again just test with SMB.. most file browsers for iOS use SMB.. if other devices can manage SMB protocol to open files on the TC then the finger points very clearly to the PC as the trouble.. on the other hand if nothing can access SMB then the TC is faulty and should be replaced.

    As you found out, you can't use mini disks in your computer. You can try turning the computer disk side down and shaking it. Not recommended but you could try using tweezers or similar and try grabbing the disk and gently pulling it out. Or, you could take the computer to a repair shop.
    Search these forums. This has been discussed many times and there are several suggestions.

  • How to get a mini-dvd out of drive

    I'm sure this has been asked dozens of times, but I can't find it on here---maybe someone can point me in the right direction. My kids put a mini-dvd from our camcorder into our slot-loading drive. I know this is a big no no, but is there any good way to get it out? Thanks.

    The best you can hope for is to try and shake the disc out of the optical drive, but it's not likely to work. You'll need to take the computer in for service in order to get the disc safely removed.

  • Ext3fs file system access on Sparc SCSI disk

    We've got a requirement to read data from a SCSI disk with an ext3fs file system which will be connected to a SunBlade system. Write capability would be a bonus.
    We've found some old (and not working) implementations to allow Solaris to mount and read ext2, but these don't work on Sparc. Things like LTools won't work either, since Solaris won't allow access to a SCSI disk that doesn't have a Solaris label on it.
    Does anyone know of any possible solutions to this problem? Any one know of ext3fs for Solaris? Any one know how to access an internal SCSI disk on Sparc that doesn't have a Solaris label on it?
    Thanks

    Hmmmmmm........Thanks for the suggestions - have written a test and the results arent good.
    Using file filter to "find" the file is just too slow (1.4 secs and i need to do this 4million times for my application).
    So I understand why the filter is slow compared to directly naming the file as we have to accept/reject them all, whereas if we know the file we can go straight to it. But this is a nightmare for my app. Looks like Im going to have to think again....
      public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
        String dir = "/path/files";
        File dirf = new File(dir);
        long l = System.currentTimeMillis();
        File f1 = new File(dirf,"TheRealFile.3253.ser"); // The file in the 30,000 we want
        InputStream i = new FileInputStream(f1);
        System.err.println("--> "+i.read());
        i.close();
        System.err.println("Took: "+(System.currentTimeMillis()-l)+" ms");
        // Test 2
        FileFilter ffx = new FileFilter() {
          public boolean accept(File s) {
            return s.isFile() &&
                   s.getName().startsWith("TheRealFile")
                   && s.getName().endsWith(".ser");
        l = System.currentTimeMillis();
        File [] f2 = dirf.listFiles(ffx);
        //System.err.println("Found: "+f2[0]);
        InputStream i2 = new FileInputStream(f2[0]);
        System.err.println("--> "+i2.read());
        i2.close();
        System.err.println("Took: "+(System.currentTimeMillis()-l)+" ms");
    --> 172

  • Any Mac s/w that can read AVCH .m2ts files from SonyHDR-UX5 Mini-DVD discs?

    Just bought a new Sony HDR-UX5 HD camera that records onto mini-dvd disks. I can read the disks in my Mac Pro, but none of the Mac software (e.g. iMovie) seems to understand the .m2ts files (AVCHD format MPEG-4 AVC/H2.64 apparently)
    Is there something out there that can read them?
    (I am happy to compile and use command-line tools if that is the only option)

    I converted from a PC to a Mac Mini.  I have my PC documents backed up on a DVD disk.  I have an external DVD drive connected to the Mac Mini.  I want to open these documents up from the DVD storage and save them to the Mac, BUT....when I put the DVD disk in the Mac is NOT reading it!

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks for your quick response.  I should add....it worked before.  When I previously inserted the two DVDs into this remote drive, and I went into finder, I could click on the "remote device" line and see all my saved documents (excel, word, etc) on the DVD and open them on the Mac.  Now I cannot see them, when I try to open them on the Mac, nothing happens, nothing is displayed.  I just re-tested the remote DVD drive with a CD and, no problem, it opened up the CD via iTunes and I cold play the CD.  SO......I know the remote DVD drive (it's an LG by the way) is fine, it's something to do with some settings on my mini mac,especially where I could open it previously.  I do not remember changing any settings since then.
    When I go into system preferences and click on CD/DVD it gives me options of how to open up a music CD (default is iTunes), a DVD (default is iMovie), etc.  The problem is my DVD is all miscellaneious files/documents.  I just want to be able to see them in the finder.  I also tried to open them via microsoft word, from the remote disk and again, it could not open the drive, even though some of the documents were microsoft word documents.  Again, I was able to open them previously and the DVD is not corrupted in any way.
    Any additional advice?
    Thank you!

    I have a Canon DC310 camcorder that uses mini dvd's and doesn't have the ability to connect to a computer.  How can I get my new Imac to read these dvd's?  Will the mini dvd adapter work or do I need to purchase an external dvd rom device?  Which device works well with the Mac?  Do I need anything else to get the dvd material onto my mac?  Thanks!!

    No DV port in camcorder.  Just a yellow AV port/hole.  I did find a Canopus ADVC110 device in a box that was bought several years ago to convert VHS tapes onto DVD's.  Can I use this with a Mac?  Could I connect a dvd player to the Canopus and transfer the disks onto my Mac?  Or, connect the camcorder via AV port to the Canopus and that to the Mac and transfer that way?  Thanks again!

  • How to access removable disks?

    I'm new on Elements and seem to stumble in the first round. I use  several extern datadisks (for photo's, audio etc.) via USB - how can I import photo's and other stuff from these? No other program but Elements has a problem with that...

    Thank you for your fast response!... From my side I should have supplied more info. My working horse  is an eMac with for all possible data (photos, audio, backup etc) extern (USB 2) drives attached. These drives are formatted with MacOS (journalled) or FAT32. The OS is Mavericks with Elements 12. When trying to import files - 'Photos from cameras or devices' - it says under 'Source' just 'No device found' whatever I try. However after several tries it now seems to work with Organizer. And so I take it from there...

    What version of Premiere Elements are you using and what computer operating system is it running?
    For now, I will asssume Premiere Elements 12 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit.
    If you have video storage on an USB 2 or 3 external hard drive and you want to use any of it in a Premiere Elements project, you should be able to use Premiere Elements Add Media/Files and Folders to navigate to the external hard drive and import the file(s) into the project. What is happening in your case to give you problems?
    Is the external hard drive USB 2 or 3, is the drive letter staying constant, and is the external hard drive formatted NTFS if you are working on Windows? If Mac, what format is your external hard drive?
    Or do you have your media stored on a USB 2 or 3 Flash Drive or DVD disc...if so, then you would use Add Media/"Videos from Flip or Camera"/Video Importer after you insert your USB Flash Drive into a USB port or place the DVD disc in the burner tray.
    Please review and consider, supply details, and then we shall work on resolving whatever Premiere Elements workflow problems that you are having.
    Thanks.
