How to access a single file folder in timemachine using another computer as my own was stolen?
Help!
My Macbook Pro was stolen!
I made backups with timemachine. But now there is no other Mac in the area to access this, and a windows computer does not read it. I am also nowhere near an Apple store.
Possibly next week, via a colleague, I will have access to another Macbook. How do I find and restore then the single file folder in the timemachine backup. which has all work related documents, onto the desktop of this other computer, so that I can then transfer it via USB stick to a windows operated desktop computer?
Thanks for any tips!
No, there's no good way to do this. You *could* (if you can run an .exe file off the flash drive) try the Flash Projector, if you can run the SWF as a standalone application.

How do I import xmp files that contain edits from another computer?
I edited some images on my laptop and the Metadata Catalog settings show changes are written into the .xmp files. I copied both the CR2 and corresponding .xmp files to my Desktop computer. When I imported the images into LR 5.5, the edits did not show up.
How do I get the corresponding .xmp files to update the CR2 files? Or do I have to start over and import the LR Catalog from my Laptop for just this series of images?
If I send off my CR2 files for someone to edit and they send me back the .xmp files containing the edits, shouldn't I be able to update my original CR2 files???
Thanks, MarcAlso for the info to be read 100% both computers need to be using the same version of LR. (e.g. Lr 4.x will not apply all the info from LR 5.x)

How to access/open rpd files in offline mode from client desktop
Hi All,
Please tell me what configuration settings I need to have on my desktop to access RPD files stored on BI server?
In our OBIEE environment, we have BI server installed on linux server, and I have installed BI admin tool on my desktop (Windows OS).
I need to know what settings I should configure in my NQSConfig.ini file on my desktop so that I can access rpd files stored on BI server...
I can access online RPD using BI server ODBC connectibity, but want to access other offline RPD files stored in repository directory on linux server where OBIEE 11g server installation is done.
Thanks and Regards
Santosh
Edited by: 910192 on 22-Feb-2012 08:09Saichand,
Highly appreciate your response.
But wht I am looking for is how to access other RPD files stored in repository folder on server machine where BI server is running, from BI administration tool which is installed on my desktop
I am able to access default online repository on BI server using ODBC configuration from BI admin tool on my desktop, but want to access other rpd files (lets say sample rpd files which are installed on BI server machine) using (file->open-offline) option.
As per Jay, it seems it is not possible to access repositories other than online repository on BI server, and I will have to copy those rpd files on my desktop and then access using file->open->offline option in BI admin tool.
If you have any other way of doing this or have done this somehow , please let me know.
Thanks and Regards

How do I add a "file folder" to my TC so that I can save files directly to the TC?
I am trying to figure out how I can add a "File Folder" to my TC so that I can save files directly to it? The only folder it displays is "Data" which is where my bac ups save...
Double click on the "Data" folder in the Finder under the SHARED heading, and then click the gear icon at the top of the window and select New Folder.
You can name this folder anything you wish and also create as many folders as you wish.
If you are also using the Time Capsule drive for Time Machine backups, it is not really recommended that you "mix" regular files with Time Machine backups because there will be a struggle for space on the drive at some point.
If you have plenty of free space on the Time Capsule drive, you may be OK with keeping a portion dedicated for regular files. -
How to compile a single file in a project
I have placed my java connector file called "xxxTargetconnector .class" in the below mentioned path
D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\FSCMDMO9\applications\peoplesoft\PSIGW\WEB-INF\classes\com\peoplesoft\pt\integrationgateway\targetconnector
I have converted the above class file in to a java file using a decompiler. Now i would like to recompile the java file to get the byte code. This class file imports many class files from jar files which is placed in the below mentioned path.
D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource.
Before compiling i set the path to include the jar files
for ex , set path = D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource
For compilation i went to the below path using command prompt and compiled the particular file.
D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\FSCMDMO9\applications\peoplesoft\PSIGW\WEB-INF\classes\com\peoplesoft\pt\integrationgateway\targetconnector>javac xxxTargetConnector.java
Unfortunately i got around 99 errors saying
xxxTargetConnector.java:187: cannot find symbol
symbol : variable Logger
location: class com.peoplesoft.pt.integrationgateway.targetconnector.xxxTargetConnector
How to compile a single file in a project ?According to [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/tools/windows/javac.html], "As a special convenience, a class path element containing a basename of * is considered equivalent to specifying a list of all the files in the directory with the extension .jar or .JAR. I have never tried using this feature.
So if all of your dependent classes are in in jar files that are in D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource, a command like the following should work.
javac -cp D:\FSCM9DMO\webserv\Cybersource\* xxxTargetConnector.java
Note that setting your operating system path variable has no impact on where Javac looks for dependent classes. -

how to access this jar file
Any help or comment would be highly appreciated
Regards
M Fazal Ur RehmanExcellent question. I don't see any client-jar in your EAR file structure. So I am assuming you are writing a separate client application which will talk to the ejbs deployed as part of this EAR. You need to do the following:
Write another EAR file with the following structure:
ear:
META-INF/application.xml
util.jar
client.jar
client.jar should have a META-INF/MANIFEST.MF and that should contain Class-Path:util.jar and value for Main-Class attribute.
Now deploy this new ear to your application server and execute it using Application Client Container that comes with your app server.
If you don't want to write another EAR file, then bundle th client.jar in your original EAR file.
Points to note are:
you have to repackage util.jar again inside this ear file.
For portability reason, you should use Class-Path manifest entry in client.jar. Refer to http://java.sun.com/j2ee/verified/packaging.html and J2EE platform spec section #8.2.
Hope this helps,

How to access the *.java file corresponding to a TypeElement T?
Here is a problem:
How to access the *.java file corresponding to a TypeElement T from a AnnotationProcessor environment?
Let us say the hook method
public boolean process(Set<? extends TypeElement> annos, RoundEnvironment roundEnv)
is invoked with a TypeElement T such that T.getQualifiedname() = "a.b.c.X"
And the problem is how to locate the file that has the *.java source code for a.b.c.X?
That is the file that has the source code for a.b.c.X say "some/path/a/b/c/X.java"?
For simplicity, let us assume that TypeElement T corresponds to a top-level Java class.Pinaki wrote:
That is not something you as the annotation processor author should be asking about. That is something you the person configuring the javac environment should set up via the -d option or its equivalent.
I strongly recommend using a separate output directory hierarchy. That is the way the current implementation is. The annotation processor takes a -Aout= <some directory path> to write generated output relative to a user-specified location (which defaults to the class output location). That is contrary to the design of the annotation processing facility. The intended use is for that information to be configured via options like "javac -d".
Additionally, IMO it is a serious configuration error to put generated files and input files, presumably tracked under version control, in the same directory. Interesting you said that. We are just running some "field trial" with these things and some users want them to be in the same directory of the original *.java files (especially when their source files are spread across many roots) .
Who knows what the user wants? The user does and the user is free to (mis)configure their environment however they like ;-) However, that is the user's option and the user has control of this via the javac command line. The annotation processor is not the proper place to configure this setting; see slide 7 of http://blogs.sun.com/darcy/resource/J1_2006-BOF-0606.pdf for some thoughts on different roles in annotation processing.
presumably tracked under version control, in the same directory.version control is another 'usability issues' that we are trying to get our heads around with this stuff. "To check-in or not?" - that seems to be the question. When presented these facilities without any cue, "the users" were divided -- some wanted them to be checked-in, some did not. The context where these generated files being used -- there exists some rationale to check them in a version control system. The right answer depends on the circumstances, but IMO generally generated files should not be checked in under version control, especially if they are derived from other source files. Checking in generated files of this nature just creates the opportunity for them to get out of date with the originating files. -

My music files etc were all located on my old laptop which was stolen. I have just plugged my iphone in to my new computer and it has deleted all my files. Has anybody got any ideas on how to retrieve the files?
WINDOWS?
Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."
might be out of date worth a try -
I need to back up my imac running Tiger (no time machine) so that we can upgrade OS. It is set up for multiple accounts. How do I capture all files in each account using newly purchased USB external hard drive? Thanks!
Backup Software Recommendations
Carbon Copy Cloner
Data Backup
Deja Vu
SuperDuper!
Synk Pro
Tri-Backup
Others may be found at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore. Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files.
Or you can simply use the Restore option of Disk Utility to clone the drive to the backup:
Clone using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive. -

How to load a client file in a clob using sqlcl
How to load a client file in a clob using sqlcl
You don't "load" jars. If it's on the classpath, you can obtain individual resources from it using various methods on either Class or ClassLoader. Do you mean "how to add a jar to the classpath at runtime"? Can't be done without using a classloader, typically URLClassLoader or a subclass thereof. Why you want to not use the proven method is beyond me. Presumably because you don't understand classloading. In which case, forget it.

How to pass a single quote in a URL using Javascript
Can someone tell me how to pass a single quote in a URL using Javascript. I have created a Javascript funciton in which I pass several column values from an APEX report.
The URL for the report link I am using is "JAVASCRIPT:passBack('#EMP_ID#','#Name#','#e-mail#')"
The problem occurs with the Name and e-mail columns contain a single quote (i.e. James O'Brien)Thank you Saad, that worked.
Since I built the report using type 'SQL Query (PL/SQL function fody returning SQL query)' I had to add some additional quotes to get it to work.
i.e.
replace(EMP_EMAIL_NAME,'''''''',''\'''''')
or
replace(EMP_EMAIL_NAME,chr(39),''\'''''')
Thanks for the help,
Jason
