How to access Camera Raw when invoking CS5 from Lightroom 3?

When I invoke CS5 from Lightroom, my NEF files seem to load directly without giving me an opportunity to make adjustments in Camera Raw. If I open the same NEF file from windows Explorer, CS5 presents the Camera Raw adjustment page and I can make adjustments before proceeding.
How can I work around this?
BTW I know I can make camera raw adjustments in Lightroom and then open in CS5, however for an image that I know I will be using CS5 on anyway, I don't want to do anything at all in LR just go direct to CS5 but I can't do this if this bypasses my ability to make adjustments in camera raw!
I must be missing something here, can anyone point me in the right direction?
[I'm using Camera Raw 6.1, LR3, CS5 12.0.1 x64; Invoking CS5 from LR3 by right-click on image, Edit In > Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5]

That workaround did work for me so thanks for the helpful reply!
If anyone else has other ways of making this work I'd like to hear about it.
Thanks,
Eric

  • Skips Camera Raw when opening image from PSE organizer to CS

I have PSE7 from before and recently purchased CS6. I want to keep using PSE as an organizer and edit in CS6. When opening a raw file (CR2) from the organizer to CS using Ctrl-h the image opens directly in CS without opening in Camera Raw first. If I open an image directly in CS it goes through CR first. How do I send the image directly to Camera Raw and then to CS from the organizer? I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Camera Raw for PSE7 if 5.6 and 7.3 for CS6. Tried posting under photoshop (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5006582#5006582), where it was suggested I post in the elements forum.

Unfortunately PSE7 can’t be updated to Camera Raw 7 and this is undoubtedly preventing the file from opening in the CS6 raw dialog. Your best bet is to open from CS6 Bridge by double clicking the thumbnail in Bridge. In any case Elements will create an export copy for external editing with Ctrl+H and you will end up with lots of duplicates and sidecar XMP files stacked in version sets in the Organizer. I think for raw files you will find Bridge much easier. If you finally save as PSD, Tiff or jpeg after you finish editing that version will also be visible in Bridge but you could also import it into Elements e.g. if you wish to add it to an album.

  • How do I download RAW converter for CS5 from Nikon 5200?

I have Photoshop Elements 5 and have shot in RAW for the first time with my Nikon 5200.  I am unable to open images in files or bring files into photoshop.  How do I do this?  Thanks

Which version of windows are you using?
Since pse 5 can only be updated to camera raw 4.6 and your nikon 5200 needs at least camera raw 7.7, you could use
the adobe dng converter to convert the 5200 nefs to dng copies, which pse 5 should then open.

  • Camera raw and Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom

(2.5) If I open a raw image from Windows Explorer or Bridge (which I don't use much), Camera Raw 4.6 opens. It doesn't open if I Edit In Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom, but says "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 5.5 for full compatibility. Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3".
There are two choices: Render using Lightroom and Open Anyway. If I say the former, it doesn't use the file name, but does something like -2.tif.
I'm not sure what these two choices actually do.
Secondly, if things were working properly, would Lightroom actually open the Camera Raw window? If so, is there anything I can do short of upgrading PS to CS4?
    Thanks.

Just a little history of the profiles being displayed for your camera model. The camera calibration tab only displays the profiles that are specific to your camera and model. The earler profiles were named after the version of ACR that was in use when they were created.
    So.
ACR 4.2 the first profile created for your camera model when support was introduced.
ACR 4.4, Adobe created/ updated new profiles for most of the supported camera models with this release of ACR.
Adobe Standard Beta, updated profile when the Beta of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0 were introduced.
Adobe Standard, Updated profile for the final release of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0. This then is the latest profile created for your camera model. I think it should be the closest to your camera standard.
Adobe did not create any other camera matching profiles Vivid, Neutral etc other than for the more popular Nikon and Canon models.  I have an Olympus so I am in the same boat.

  • How can I update Camera raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i?

How can I update Camera Raw for Photoshop CS5 to access images from Canon Rebel T4i? The updated version of Camera Raw 7 says it only works with CS6. Outside of buying a new Photoshop, is there anything I can do?

Buy Lightroom (much cheaper alternative to Photoshop) - does all your 'Photo-related' tasks. Full version of LightRoom 4 is $149/- - http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom.html
LightRoom 4 supports ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 7. Once processed with Lightroom, if you still need, you could take the photo in JPG or TIFF format into Photoshop CS5 for further processing.
Another option is to use Canon Raw Codec that would've come with your camera's box to process the RAW images and then take them into Photoshop.

How to get Camera RAW / Photoshop CS5 to work with Canon 100D? I don't want to by this product again and again...

In what way is ACR not working in Bridge?  Is there no right-click Open in Camera Raw available from Bridge, or there is, but the ACR version is less than ACR 6.7.1 or what exactly is the issue?
Also, if you open Photoshop and do Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw, is ACR missing from the list, or if not, what version does it say is installed?
You might also want to describe what methods you have tried to correct the issue, since saying you've tried what you've seen posted and they didn't work, isn't really much to go on.

Native support requires ACR version 8.3, which will only run under CS6 or CC.

You need to look at all programs in your uninstall list, and see if you spot any old trials that are no longer active.
Camera Raw in Bridge and PS are the same program, so its not the program but access.  Would have been nice it you had stated OS, but here are locatons of camera raw for both OS.

  • Since installing Photoshop CC I can't access Camera Raw from the program Bridge.

Since installing Photoshop CC I can't access Camera Raw from the program Bridge.  When I try, I get a message that says, "Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature."  Is Photoshop CC a qualifying product?  It has been opened a number of times, but it doesn't solve this problem.

I am having this exact same problem and just upgraded to Windows 7...many people are saying to update the Plug In for Camera Raw to 4.6, but that is not working for me to see it in Bridge or Camera Raw.

  • Camera Raw Sluggish in CS5 vs CS4

My computer is Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit.  Quad Core Q6600, 2.4 GHz, 6gb RAM.
When running Photoshop CS4 with Bridge and Camera Raw, I could change any of the settings, and the preview would update pretty much instantaneously, with no lag.
I updated recently to CS5, with its accompanying new version of Camera Raw, and I find that on this same computer, working with the same Raw Files from my Canon 1D Mark 2, there is a pretty noticeable lag in the preview when changing almost any of the settings.  It's slow enough that it seriously impedes my workflow, and makes me think of returning to CS4.
Within CS5, I have the following Performance settings:
    Available RAM: 5349 MB
    Ideal Range: 2942-3851 MB
Let Photoshop Use: 3209 MB (60%)
These were the default settings used when it was installed.
    Scratch Disks:
I have a separate physical hard drive selected for this, different from the one where the OS is installed.  Only that disk is selected as a Scratch Disk.
    History & Cache:
    History States: 20
    Cache Levels: 4
    Cache Tile Size: 128K
    GPU Settings
    NVidia GeForce 9800 GT/PCI/SSE2
    Enable OpenGL Drawing is Checked.
These settings are pretty much the same as in my CS4 installation (both are currently installed on this computer).
Can this be improved?  As I said, this seriously slows down my workflow.
    Thanks.

For the record, it's PS CS5 12.1 and Bridge 4.1.0.54; no updates available.
    * It's slower when hosted by Bridge for Windows, as it's running 32-bit code.
Are you saying that it'll run faster if I start Bridge from within PS CS5, 64-bit?
You can determine Camera Raw's version number from Camera Raw Preferences (look in the title bar). 6.7RC is the best version for CS5 so far. You can download it here: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw6-7/
Bridge is a 32-bit application. Camera Raw is provided as 32-bit and 64-bit plug-ins, and the faster 64-bit plug-in only works when hosted by 64-bit Photoshop (on 64-bit Windows).
So, hosting Camera Raw in Bridge will use the 32-bit version. From Bridge, opening a raw image with Photoshop will use the 64-bit version of the plug-in (if 64-bit is installed, and the 32-bit version of Photoshop isn't already running).

  • What is the latest camera raw update for CS5?

I'd like to know the latest camera raw update for CS5 to support Sony a6000 raw files. I'd also need to know how to update the plugin.

The last version of Camera Raw that you can use with Photoshop CS5 is Camera Raw 6.7. To have support for your camera you would need Camera Raw 8.4 or newer. You have a few choices:
    1. Use DNG converter 8.4 or newer to create DNG copies of your raw files and edit those in Photoshop CS5.
    2. Subscribe to the creative cloud photography plan and to get the latest Photoshop and Lightroom.
    3. Add Lightroom to your workflow by purchasing a standalone license for Lightroom 5.
