How to access custom module frandom at install?

I'm looking to use the random generator frandom instead of urandom when I install. I have 1Tb of randomness required to fill up the raid arrays, and frandom is apparently 10-50 times faster than urandom. Whats the best way of achieving this?

I don't know, but I can tell that the live arch environment is like any other arch environment. so do the same steps.

• How to access Custom controller

Hi all,
How can i access custom controller objects in my other controllers.Can i call custom controller objects from component controller .

Hi,
I hope you mean the Custom Controller the same way we understand as defined here
[http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/Introductiontocontrollers|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/WDABAP/Introductiontocontrollers]
To access custom controller from the component controller you have to do the following.
1. Component controller->properties->use insert button to select the custom controller.
2. Use the code generator (CTRL+F7) -second tab(general)->method call in used controller->select your custom controller->method.
This will generate code like this
DATA lo_zzsbn_cust_cc1 TYPE REF TO ig_zzsbn_cust_cc1 .
lo_zzsbn_cust_cc1 =   wd_this->get_zzsbn_cust_cc1_ctr( ).

• How to access custom property for attribute and control in .vm file?

Hi,
I have created custom properties in OPM for attribute and apply also that properties to attribute.
But if how to access that value in .vm file?
I accessed using
$attribute.getProperty("ScreenProp", "default value")
but it's not working but same is worked for screen custom property

$control.getProperties().get("PropertyName") works for custom properties on a control
If you output $control and $control.getProperties() to the html you can lookup the API for the used classes.
I can't give an example of the html because it's stripped in this forum

• How to Access Custom Event using AS3?

Hi All,
Maybe it's that its Monday morning and my brain is still foggy, but I can't seem to figure out how to set custom events using AS3.
I have a custom GridRow itemRenderer, and have declared the event using the appropriate metatags.
Then I create the GR item dynamically using AS3 instantiation, but the event is not available for selection in the intellisense drop-down.
Let's take the following as an example:

<mx:Grid
xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:renderers="com.brassworks.renderers.*"
creationComplete="componentInit();"
>
<mx:Script>

private function componentInit():void
newRow     :MyRow     = new MyRow();
//newRow.myEvent is not an available option to set

</mx:Script>
</mx:Grid>
Then the itemRenderer:

<GridRow
xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
xmlns:classes="com.brassworks.components.classes.*"
creationComplete="componentInit();"
>
<mx:Metadata>
[Event(name="myEvent", type="flash.events.Event")]
</mx:Metadata>
<mx:Script>

private function itemChanged(event:Event):void
Alert.show("test");
this.dispatchEvent(new Event("myEvent"));

</mx:Script>
<mx:GridItem>
<mx:TextInput
change="itemChanged"
/>
</mx:GridItem>
</GridRow>
How do I go about setting the handler method for custom events on instantiated items? Do I need to do this via the AddEventListener() method? Does this mean that events aren't exposed in ActionScript like they are in MXML? (In MXML all I have to do is <MyRow myEvent="handler(event)" />.)
Thanks!
-Mike

Yes, I you need to do this via the addEventListener() method.
myRow.addEventListener( "myEvent", myHandler );
I hope that helps.

• How to access custom JAVA webdynpro application from an iPad?

Hi,
We are trying to access custom JAVA webdynpro application from an iPad, but nothing is opening up from the iPad browser.
What can be the possible reasons for this? Any kind of SICF enablement or opening up of ports in the network?
Any inputs are welcome!!
TIA,

Hi,
it is possible to show Java Web Dynpro applications on a mobile device in general, but the controls and the ui should be optimized for the mobile device.
Safari devices are not officially supported so far for Mobile Web Dynpro.
Supported are Windows Mobile devices and Blackberry devices. I also got some good results with Symbian devices.
You can find more inforamtion on Mobile Always Connected at:

• How to access application module from ActionForm Execute?

I've got a very simple ADF/UIX/Struts application where I'm trying to create a simple Login function. I have a /loginAction data action pointing to a login.uix page forward. The login.uix page has a <struts:form> on it with a user and a password field. There is a LoginBean with the corresponding get/set values. I have an ADF model created with a boolean login(String username, String password) function exposed as a client method.
Eventually, when I have this basic part working, then I'll actually be using an ActionForward mapping to dispatch to different home pages, based on the particular login account (the name of the forward will be stored in the authentication table).
I've tried overriding Execute(), since that is where you can return the appropriate ActionForward mapping, but that does not have a DataActionContext passed in -- so I can't get to the application module.
I've also looked at processComponentEvents, but that doesn't have any ActionForward results nor a way to pass back ActionErrors (in case the login fails).
How do I call my login client method when a user has entered a username/password and pressed the Submit button?

Here is another solution as provided by Oracle Support in response to a TAR that I opened:
I had described my need to access a login() function defined in my Application Module, returning true/false if the login succeeds/fails. Here is the reply, posted with permission:
I have gotten the following information back from one of the development folks pertaining to the question you asked.
His suggestions are as follows:
1) Expose the method as a client method on the App module
2) On the pageflow create a new DataAction
3) Drag and drop the logon method from the AppModule operations node and drop it onto the new data Action
3) Edit the set-property values that are created in the Struts metadata for this new DataAction to use the correct expressions to get the logon info to pass to the middle tier.
e.g.
<action path="/authenticateUser" className="oracle.adf.controller.struts.actions.DataActionMapping" type="AuthenticateUserAction" name="DataForm"
unknown="false">
<set-property property="modelReference" value="authenticateUserUIModel"/>
<set-property property="methodName" value="authenticateUserUIModel.authenticateUser"/>
<set-property property="resultLocation" value="${requestScope.methodResult}"/>
<set-property property="numParams" value="2"/>
<set-property property="paramNames[0]" value="${param.logonUsername}"/>
<set-property property="paramNames[1]" value="${param.logonPassword}"/>
<forward name="fail" path="/logon.do"/>
<forward name="success" path="/menu.do"/>
</action>
So in this case the values of the logonUsername and logonPassword fields in the form that submitted to this DataAction are passed as the two parameters that my authenticateUser method on the AppModule requires.
I have also overriden the data action class to customise the findForward() method to route the user depending on if the method call worked or not.
And here's the code for the customized FindForward in the DataAction:
protected void findForward(DataActionContext actionContext) throws Exception
HttpServletRequest request = actionContext.getHttpServletRequest();
HttpSession session = request.getSession();
String target = "fail";
//Get the result of the Model Method call
JUCtrlActionBinding method = actionContext.getCustomMethod();
boolean successfulLogon = ((Boolean)method.getResult()).booleanValue();
if (!successfulLogon)
// If the logon fails we need to do the following
// 1. Increament the counter once this exceeds 3 any logon will fail
// 2. Create an error message to display on the logon screen
// note this is a non specific error to prevent hackers from
// knowing that they at least got the username right or from
// knowing that there is a Max attempts value if they are trying
// an automated attack
Integer attempts = (Integer)session.getAttribute("logonAttempts");
int intAttempts = 0;
if (attempts != null)
intAttempts = attempts.intValue();
session.setAttribute("logonAttempts", new Integer(++intAttempts));
//The error message comes out of the ApplicationResources.properties file.
actionContext.getActionErrors().add("general",new ActionError("logon.error.logonFailed"));
this.saveErrors(actionContext.getHttpServletRequest(),
actionContext.getActionErrors());
else
//If connection was OK do we need to save the username in a cookie?
String remember = (String)request.getParameter("logonRemember");
int cookieLife = 0; //Expire
if ( remember != null && remember.length()>0 )
cookieLife = 2592000;
String name = (String)request.getParameter("logonUsername");
Cookie userCookie = new Cookie("CARA_USER_COOKIE",name);
userCookie.setMaxAge(cookieLife);
actionContext.getHttpServletResponse().addCookie(userCookie);
target = "success";
actionContext.setActionForward(target);
I hope this helps anyone looking to implement something similar. It also illustrates the "preferred" way of executing a client method and working with the result.

• [CS3 JS] How To Access Custom Metadata?

I have InCopy documents that contain custom XMP metadata in two namespaces, Dublin Core and PRISM, e.g.:

...
<rdf:Description
rdf:about="">
<dc:format
xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">application/x-incopy</dc:format>
<dc:title>Chickens and You</dc:title>
</rdf:Description>
<rdf:Description
rdf:about="">
<prism:publicationName
xmlns:prism="http://prismstandard.org/namespaces/basic/1.2/"
>Poultry Daily</prism:publicationName>
</rdf:Description>
...

In my JavaScript, I can access the Dublin core values but cannot access the PRISM values and I'm not sure why not.

For example, I have this:

doc = app.activeDocument;
metadata = doc.metadataPreferences;

namespaces["dc"] = "http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/";
namespaces["prism"] = "http://prismstandard.org/namespaces/basic/1.2/";

$.writeln("dc:title=" +
metadata.getProperty(namespaces["dc"],
"title/*[1]"))
// Returns expected result "Chickens and You"

$.writeln("prism:publicationName=" +
metadata.getProperty(namespaces["prism"],
"publicationName/*[1]"))
// Returns unexpected empty result, should be "Poultry Daily".

If I do metadata.save() I see the PRISM metadata in the saved result:

<rdf:Description rdf:about=""
xmlns:prism="http://prismstandard.org/namespaces/basic/1.2/">
<prism:publicationName>Poultry Daily</prism:publicationName>
</rdf:Description>

So I'm sort of at a loss but I suspect that I don't really understand what the path value should be--I haven't been able to find any clear documentation on what the path is addressing or how its actually interpreted.

What am I missing or doing wrong?

Thanks,

Eliot

Missed that. It's been a long week.
The problem is this line (probably).
metadata.getProperty(namespaces["prism"], "publicationName/*[1]")
You apparently copied the syntax from dc:title in the previous line. dc:title is
an 'Lang Alt' kind of property which is, effectively, an array. Your
prism:publicationName is a simple value property. I suspect that the "[1]"
syntax (and possible the "/*" before it) are what's causing problems.
I don't recall seeing docs for this either.

• How to access custom labels in Table?

In IDML I have set up custom lables inside Table element. How can I access those labels?
Thx!

Hi Michael,
If you just want to retrieve the data, you could use the following code.
//Get the node which the table is bound to
IWDNode node = wdContext.nodeTable();
//iterate thru the elements
for(int i = 0 ; i<node.size();i++)
IWDNodeElement ne = node.getElementAt(i);
Object value = ne.getAttributeValue("<column name>");
//Here you have the data in the value variable
//and you can manipulate this now

• How to access custom properties on JavaBean DC attributes

I created a DC from a Java class and defined some custom properties on one of its attributes. How can I access these custom properties through EL? I don't see the custom properties in the Expression Builder.

Hey Frank
Sorry for the sparse description. By custom properties I mean the ones you can add through the "Custom Properties" tab in the same editor that also lets you edit the UI Hints. This is the editor that opens when you try to edit an accessor on a data control from the DataControls.dcx viewer. In my case, I have a TestDC data control that exposes an "employees" collection of type Employee. Employee has the attributes "startDate", "name", and "age" which are of type java.util.Date, java.lang.String, and java.lang.Integer, respectively. In the DataControls editor, I select the "employees" accessor and click on the pencil icon. This opens the editor for the Employee.xml file (root element is PDefViewObject, always appears in a persdef package). From the Overview, click on Attributes, and you'll see the Custom Properties tab below the list of attributes. I added some properties here for one of the attributes but I don't know how these are supposed to be accessed through EL.
Here are two screenshots in case my written description sounds confusing.

Now, how can I access this attribute within my VC model (user data)?
Thanks for your ideas
Benny

Hi,
Regarding adding properties to user data control, i have the following information. But i am not sure, whether it will be helpful to you.
You can add a personalise property/User mapping property into a user data control.
Drag a User data component, go to configure and click the + sign at the bottom of User parameters.
You can add any personalised properties to the user data (with valid data types and allowed values). Then can use the property in any formula.
When iView is opened in portal, the personalise property of that particular iView is used to change the property value
Hope it helps.

I have a problem accessing a custom tag from a jsp expression.
Details: I have a custom tag that returns a string variable. I need to access that variable from jsp expression <%%>.
Can any body help me?

Tags don't "return" values as in the normal sense.
They can only support TEI (Tag Extra Information) that just stuffs a declared variable into the page's state.
For example, if the tag class had a public method called getValue(), you could do the following:
<xmp:mytag id="foo"/>
<%
out.println("value is " + foo.getValue());
%>
