How to access iPhoto (8.1.2) files to delete?
I have gone through all of my iPhoto files and deleted the ones I don't want, but when I let the screensaver run with everything in my "Pictures" folder, the deleted images still show up.
Isn't there a way to access all copies of the photos in order to delete the bad ones? The only way that I can see is to do a search for "Originals" on my hard drive, delete the files in that folder, and then go back to iPhoto and delete the smaller versions. But I still see some of them appear on the screensaver. Isn't there some way within iPhoto to do this properly?
Don't change anything in the iPhoto Library Folder via the Finder or any other application. iPhoto depends on the structure as well as the contents of this folder. Moving things, renaming things, deleting them or otherwise making changes will prevent iPhoto from working and could even cause you to damage or lose your photos.
When you put the images in the iPhoto Trash and empty it then the files are removed from the Hard Disk too.
Exception: If you're running a Referenced Library - but with Referenced Library you're always responsible for the file management, right?
What the screensaver is showing you may well be cached material.
As a general rule I would caution against pointing the screensaver against the Pictures Folder. It's likely to pick up lots (and lots) of low quality thumbnail images used in the background of iPhoto and other apps.

How to access my backed up icloud files
I can't seem to figure out ...how to access my i-cloud account where my files have been backed up? I went into some i-cloud acct, but it does not have access to my files.
You can access all your iCloud data from within the apps on your phone (contacts, calendars, etc.). You can't access an iCloud backup except to restore it to your device.

How far does iPhoto preserve the RAW file when editing?
I'm trying to get a better understanding of how iPhoto handles RAW photos and hope you'll answer a humble, possibly misguided question:
How far through the editing process does iPhoto preserve RAW data?
Here's what I mean by this: I understand that iPhoto cannot "edit" a RAW file, but there are a couple of ways it look like it was. Let's take a WB adjustment as an example.
Option 1: "Convert on import." iPhoto converts the RAW to a JPG when I import the file (or begin to edit it). Then adjusting the WB will be a filter applied to a JPG file (meaning there wasn't much advantage to shooting RAWs in the first place)!
Option 2: "Fully RAW." iPhoto imports the RAW file and then "processes" it whenever you display or print it. When you edit it (e.g., adjusting the white balance), it keeps track of the new parameters (e.g., WB, or contrast, or cropping, etc.) and then uses these parameters the next time it processes the RAW for display. This would mean, for example, that there would be no difference in quality between
A. Taking a freshly-imported RAW and setting the white balance to X, and
B. Taking a freshly-imported RAW, setting the white balance to Y, closing iPhoto, re-opening iPhoto then editing the picture again and changing the WB to X.
Option 3: "Somewhere in-between." Files are imported as RAW, but then converted to JPG at the end of the first editing. Subsequent edits are treated as JPG edits (including the resulting loss in image quality with each edit).
Can anyone clarify this? How does the answer differ for different types of edits (e.g., WB vs. image rotation vs., expanding the highlights, etc.)? Is the answer different for Aperture vs. iPhoto?
Thanks!
-MikeHow about the 4 th option... None of the above.
Option 3 is closest. As the Help says:
When you edit a RAW-format photo and click Done, iPhoto applies your changes to the RAW image data and stores the data as a JPEG file (the original RAW file remains unchanged).
It can also be saved as tiff is you prefer.
Here's where it's different from your option 3:
Subsequent edits are treated as JPG edits (including the resulting loss in image quality with each edit)
There is no loss of image quality with each edit because of iPhoto's _[Non-Destructive Editing Feature|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/7.0/en/11464.html]_ .
You can, of course, re-process the RAWs if you choose. This will bring you right back to the Original file.
Aperture is quite different. It's at your option 2

Problem accessing iphoto pictures and other files from previous system.
Hello,
I tried to install Leopard, upgrading from Tiger, using the install disc.
The cpu hanged on blue.
I tried all the disc permissions protocol, with no immediate success.
Overnight it somehow came up and was usable, however, I could not access my files in iphoto and open office etc
In the 'previous systems' folder on my HD it is still there and of the correct size, however I cannot access it-it is grey and has a cross through it.
I ran disc permissions before and after uploading combo updater X10.5 from the apple site.
It still would not grant access.
I re-installed the system running disc permissions before and after and archived the HD.
I then carbon copied (using that software) the HD to an external HDD and erased and installed leopard.
I still cannot access the old photos in iphoto and the new iphoto has no photos in it.
Any suggestions as to how to resolve this? The priority is to access the old photos again, preferably still in their folder and album form. Though accessing all old files would be still better.
Thanks-I've been going at this for a few days now...
Best wishes,
GMT1It's solved now-thank you
This is what was done:
1) Quit iPhoto, if it is already running
2) Open a Finder window to show Backup HD>Previous Systems>Users>Pictures
3) Open another Finder window above or below it and navigate to Macintosh HD>Users>Pictures
(It's easier to keep track if you have both windows in column view)
4) Drag and drop the old iPhoto Library onto the new Pictures folder. It will warn you that if you are about to replace "iPhoto Library". Click "Replace" - it may require your password.
5) Open iPhoto
Thanks to a person on another forum named Leewave, who came up with it just now.
Thanks to all and best regards.

How to access iPhoto Libraries folders
Hi Helpful Apple Lovers!!!
First, thanks for all the past help.
I want to erase the useless original images once they are modified to save on hard drive space. How can I access the contents of the folders, without having to reach it through finder? WIll this allow me to add new folders to a back-up of my past iPhoto Libraries? Thank you all again.I want to erase the useless original images once they are modified to save on hard drive space. How can I access the contents of the folders, without having to reach it through finder?
No you can not do this - if you do it via the finder you will corrupt your iPhoto database and lose data - as you have read on these boards iPhoto ALWAYS maintains teh original of every photo in its daabase and you always have the capibility to revert to it
You can export the photos you have modified, delete them in iPhoto, empty the iPhoto trash and import the ones you just exported
WIll this allow me to add new folders to a back-up of my past iPhoto Libraries?
You can always add new photos by importing them into iPhoto - depending on your backup software you may or may not be able to add to old backups

But if how to access that value in .vm file?
I accessed using
$attribute.getProperty("ScreenProp", "default value")
but it's not working but same is worked for screen custom property$control.getProperties().get("PropertyName") works for custom properties on a control
If you output $control and $control.getProperties() to the html you can lookup the API for the used classes.
I can't give an example of the html because it's stripped in this forum

Access Time Machine´s hidden files in Windows
Does anyone know how to access Time Machine´s hidden files in Windows? I tried using MacDrive v7... but in its help files... it says that the app itself (MacDrive) will not show files on a Mac-formatted drive, partion, volume, etc. if MAC OS X itself intentionally hides certain files. Confused?
If MAC OS X hides files in the Time Machine hard drive, MacDrive will hide them too.
I want to access some of my documents that are on my Time Machine external hard drive on my Windows computer.
Why? I took my Time Machine hard drive with me out of the country. Are you anywhere near a place that sells Macs? If so, you might see if they will copy the files for you. A university might be another place to check to see if they have any Macs or anything running Unix and would be willing to help you out.
