How to access iTunes Match tunes behind firewall?

Hello,
I have successfully enabled iTunes Match and can access my music from my iPhone and iPad from my home network.  However, when I try to access music from my iPhone at work, nothing is downloaded from the cloud.  I strongly suspect that this is due to the relevant IP port being blocked on the company firewall.
Can anyone advise which port(s) and protocols are used by iTunes Match to download music from the cloud onto the device (plus any other ports used in negotiating the transfer, etc)?  I need to know this information in order to request that the relevant ports are opened.
Many thanks,
Paul

Well, Apple does normally publish this kind of information - see this help article.  It's a shame they haven't updated it with the information I need!  Sadly, I doubt my IT folks will have the time to research the ports I need - it'll be hard enough persuading them to open up the ports, let alone find them too!
If anyone from Apple is reading this, it would be most useful if you can provide the port information needed to allow iTunes Match to work over wifi behind a firewall!

    Brian,
Again, not accurate. When Match is "turned off" all of the Matched song instances are still shown in the Ibrary and all devices still stream - so, if you have your songs also stored on your local drive (which I choose to as one does not always have access to WiFi and I use the local instances of the songs for some music production/DJing), iTunes shows each song twice.  This is cumbersome if you simply want to play an album - you have to hear each song twice. There is no reason technologically they could not simply show the metadata for a song only once and simply hit the cloud object store when it it is not found as a local disk target. This would solve some of the issues and it is pretty much how any content delivery network (CDN) works - and this is how my local Genius Bar assured me it would work before I bought the service. I found they know little about Match.
Other issues: I believe the "exclusive" Cloud Playtlist logic still stands - iTunes protests if you add a non-Matched song to a Playlist (as it assumes you want all Playlists to be cloudy). Also, the APLCARE person and I  could not figure out what "Removed" (under Cloud Status) means despite looking up several explanations on the Web. And, we found songs that were only in the cloud that should have also been on my local drive as I never deleted them. That said, it is also a pain to fully delete a song (local + the cloud). Plus, the logic in the Purchased section around what constitutes "Not On Computer" did not hold up. They have lots of logical challenges with thier workflow.
Regardingyour suggestion, there is no way to "not use" Match. Only when one is disconnected from the iTunes store does Match seem to go away completely. The only thing you can turn off is the song syncing/matching/uploading. This amounts only to turning off a sub-process not the service.
Match is likely fine for most who do not want to have any copy of the songs locally and are fine having access to their music only when connected via WiFi. I wanted more ubiquitous access to my collection from my iPad and my iPhone but needed to keep my songs local to my MBP too. This is not the proper use case as I have learned.
Of course I won't renew, but I should be able to cancel a service that I am dissatisfied with.

  • ITunes Match icon striped out "accessing itunes match" never connects

I'm having a problem accessing itunes match. I hope someone can help.
In iTunes, all the music that isn't downloaded on the computer is grayed out. When I hover over the cloud icon (which has grey stripes indicating it's not connected to itunes match) a text box pops up "accessing itunes match"
The only thing that fixes this is a restart. Sometimes just restarting itunes works. Is this a glitch in the itunes software or can I change something to prevent this from happening about 5 times a day?

The reason it disappeared is because apple is getting ready for the full launch of match so they have deleted everyone's current match library. There was a notice sent out to developers stating that fact. Hope you had everything  backed up.

    Dear Michael, good day!
    1. As per your instruction, I turned off iTM.
Small discrepancy – where are two screens with iTM switch:
-Settings > iTunes & App Store.
    -Settings > Music
    I switched OFF in both.
NB: I turned device to English for convenience.
    2. My next step was Setting > General > Usage – tapped {Music};
{All music} screen appeared; I swiped it and taped Delete.
    3. I performed “hard reset” …………………………………..
    4. Switched back On iTM
    5. Taped Music app on Home screen
iTM has started –  (it took 18 minutes  to completed, 60 mbps Wi-Fi speed )
Regret to inform… All the same:
Erase and reset to factory default? Or I did smf wrong?

Question: is there supposed to be a iCloud symbol next to every song that matches in iTunes?  I only have "unavailable to match" clouds.
No. Tracks will only have a cloud in the "iCloud Download" column if they are unprocessed by iTM. If a track is deleted from the iTunes library and is available for download there will be a slightly different cloud icon in that column with an arrow pointing down to incidate it is available to download.
Tracks that have been processed or are resident in the iTunes library will have nothing in the "iCloud Download" column.

  • How do cancel iTunes Match?

How I can cancel the iTunes Match before the renovation?

    Hello, maiatrindade.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are the steps on how to cancel iTunes Match.
To turn off Auto-Renew for iTunes Match
iTunes Match will automatically renew your subscription at the end of your 1 year subscription by default. To turn off Auto-Renew:
Open the latest version of iTunes.
    Choose Store > Sign In.
Enter your Apple ID and password, and click Sign In.
Choose Store > View My Account. You may be asked to re-enter your Apple ID password.
In the "iTunes in the Cloud" section, click Turn Off Auto-Renew to the right of iTunes Match.
Note: If at any time during the matching and uploading process you lose your Internet connection or experience a power outage, iTunes will automatically resume where it left off the next time you open iTunes.

  • How will the itunes match app affect my data usage?

how will the itunes match app affect my data usage? It seems to take a while to connect and start playing so i'm assuming if my range isnt the best it will drop out like a bad radio station???

What I have done is create playlists and I'll download the playlists to the iPhone while I'm at home, on Wi Fi, and listen while I'm out and about. I've only downloaded the occasional tracks on 3G (mainly because at&t's network was so terrible). This method worked pretty well for me.

  • HT4759 I am accessing itunes match and it keeps coming up with "I tunes has stopped working

Itunes has worked on and off giving me the message that "itunes has stopped working" after only a few minutes while it is trying to complete the "Match" in order to have the songs available on my iphone 5. I have been resigning in since yesterday after noon and it is still not complete. Does anyone have a solution to this issue? I purchased the service on the cloud thru itunes yesterday.
    Thank you,
    kopinion

It shouldn't take that long.  You might want to start over by turning off iTunes Match on your phone, and also by opening iTunes on your computer and going to Store>Turn off iTunes Match.  Then turn it back on in iTunes, wait for your library to be scanned and matched, then turn it back on on your iPhone.

  • How to access iTunes library in time machine after changing corrupt HD_

    Hi,
have a mini with 2.66GHz Intel Core Duo where several months after installing Mavericks it seemed not to be able to handle it anz longer. Whatever the szmptoms and mz attempts to save the thing, I brought it to the Service Center which finally said the hard drive needed changing. They copied the content onto a new 750GB one, but then found that thez couldnt move the itunes folder. They said I should just retrieve it from my time capsule.
Back home, time machine says it doesnt have a location set up for time machine, kind of telling me that my mini is not being recognised as my old computer.
There s threads and sites that tell you how to avoid a full new backup after hd change when you ve managed to copy the data directly. I couldnt find anything about retrieving specific data from the time machine that were not successfully migrated when changing the hd.
    Any pointers, please?
    Thanks,
    H

    Hey,
no I have not. I was kind of afraid that if I set up time machine, it'll create a new "account" and won't let me access the old backups in time machine. While user name hasn't changed, nor password, it seems that the service center has not copied my "preferences" or "profile" for the lack of a better word. It looks to me that time machine doesn't recognise the mini being the old one.
i just linked up itunes again and at least through  itunes match I can see my library in icloud. But I don't want to download 130GB from icloud if I have them on my time capsule 10 feet away from the mini...

  • Itunes Match tunes corrupted on Iphone 6 - deleting tune or redownloading doesn't fix.

I have several tunes I matched with itunes match from my mac.  those play fine, if I delete and redownload from the cloud they play perfectly.
However, After getting my iphone 6 and recovering my backup, I went ahead and clicked on a lot of tunes / albums / artists to redownload to my phone from the cloud.  I went to bed and all transfers but a few seemed to have downloaded.  However, when I play some songs, they are corrupted... it will display the proper song's name, proper length, good album artwork, however the song will be only 20s short OR the song will start normally but after 10-20s it is another song that plays.
I have tried to delete the song and redownload.  I have tried reboots, I am at the latest update version of IOS.  I tried deleting and streaming from cloud... nothing changes, the song stays corrupted (as if cached this way)
Before I go with a clean restore + redownloading all in the hopes of clearing the cache, does anyone have any idea on how we can clean up the downloaded cache or ensure all works properly with itunes match?
Overall, I am a bit disapointed about this service... especially having to reclick all tunes to redownload everything instead of a sinple "sync" back to reality.... and then the corrupted tunes , bleh.

    ever figure this out?

  • HT4914 How will it (iTunes Match) affect my iPod classic?

    Hi there,
I have a Macbook Pro, iPhone 4s and iPod classic. I only use my iPod classic for my music. I am quite intrigued by iTunes Match, and I am wondering how, if at all, it will affect my music on my computer at the moment and my iPod classic. And I am aware that Match is only avaialbe for those with iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch). I use it for working out, driving to work, etc, and I don't want to lose it on my computer, but I like the concept behind iTunes Match. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

The actual files must be on the computer HDD to be synced to an iPod Classic. Syncing of that model of iPod will not work if the files are not there.
If you are going to re-add the files back to your library the best way to do it is to restore from the backup you made before you deleted all the song files.

  • How to "undownload" iTunes match songs?

    Hi everyone,
Have a question. I have a music library of about 15,000 songs between two computers. I hooked up both to my iTunes match and then connected my iPhone and iPad to my iTunes match account. Both the iphone and ipad have small amounts of memory so I am thrilled to have full access to my 15K music library which never would have fit before.
I actually removed all music from my iPhone completely and stream most songs from iCloud.
Over time though, if I am going somewhere without WiFi and want to listen to an able that I don't want to stream over 3G I will download that album to my iPhone or iPad. It's great to have these songs on my iPhone for a few weeks, but my iPhone is starting to fill up again with downloaded songs.
What I want to know how to do is how to "UNDOWNLOAD" these songs - aka, just stream them again from the cloud like I did before I decided to download that album, so I have room to download some other songs but still have access to the full libary. The iPhone itself doesn't seem to have a function to reverse the downloading process or even to delete them, and when I go to my iTunes library it doesn't give me the chance to edit what songs are physically synced because it says "iTunes match is on" with no further options.
Any help to manage this so I can download these songs when I need them, but stream them from iCloud at a later date when I'm listening less frequently in order to NOT fill my iPhone would be much appreciated.

I have teh same issue as Matt...
in order to do that delete (=undownload) in iOS 6 I had to set the setting of ItunesMatch to OFF. then I "deleted" the song I wanted to "undownload" , switched itunes match back ON and ...all other downloads were gone too (I guess coz I had switched off teh itunes Match function and it reset all to 0).
I had to redownload ALL my songs that I wanted prortable.
Or did I do something wrong?
    Sandra
