How to access Mail after I had to totally reload OSX10.8 on my iMac

Recently I had a total crash on my iMac i3 (8GB memory, 3.2GHz and a WD MyBook Studio 1TB external hard-drive) and which as a result I have had to completely reload everything. So far OK till I came to restoring from my hard-drive. This had my total backup but I have been unable to unlock the drive as it won't respond to my password. Now I have managed to load the essential software but for some unknown reason I can't open my "Mail" I can't even open a new account so have had to access email through my browser.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how I can reopen my Mail app and if  at all possible to somehow unlock my hard-drive?
Hoping someone can answer my help call!

Which drive or folder is locked? In Finder do Get Infos...

I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it.

  • How to access mail remotely

How can I access my mac.com or me.com email from a different computer, such as in a hotel lobby?  Other posts have suggested simply logging onto me.com or icloud.com and then "sign in to mail."  Whenever I log onto me.com or icloud.com, I get taken to an icloud welcome page that gives me several options for installing an icloud account.  there is no option for signing into mail.  Obviously, I don't want to install anything on a hotel computer, even if I could!  Any ideas for how to access mail?

If you go to www.icloud.com you should get this screen
Once you sign in using your Apple ID you should have access to your iCloud data including mail sent to you iCloud email address.
Is this not what you see?

  • Not able to access mail after upgrade to yosemite

After upgrading to Yosemite.  I am unable to access my email via MACMAIL.  I have confirmed settings with ISP have unchecked SSL...still keep getting prompt for the password.  Yesterday I removed anything from the ISP in the keychain.   I am still unable to access email.   I continue to be prompted for the password which continues to reject.   I am able to access the same mail via webmail so the password is good.    I need help!!!

Last night it has been working for a few hours now it's down again since thee hours ago.
It's so annoying. Apple isn't able to operate a working e-mail system, doesn't provide any (free) support (not even to paying MobileMe customers ...) and doesn't provide any kind of information. Instead their status page is showing that everything is working just fine while many people on the forums, twitter etc. are complaining that mail isn't working.
I don't even know how many e-mails I should have received are simply lost ...

  • How do I access mail in the Cloud? some emails are not on the iMac because I opened them on the iPad. How do I download then to the iMac?

How do I access mail through the cloud that is on my iPad but not pushed to the iMac?

There is a forum for iCloud on my Mac, I would recommend posting there or iCloud on IOS devices forum.

  • How to access Mail-Attachments in XI 3.0?

    Hello everyone,
We have a scenario, where a Mail with attached Files (text, pdf) is sent to the XI. I would like to write a module which accesses the Mail-Attachments, retrieves their content and appends the Base64-encoded content to the payload. I've tried several things, took inspiration from existing Module-Beans, but i never really came to the point that i have the attachment-name and content to do the Encoding.
Could anyone give me a hint what is a proper way to achieve this?
Or is there probably a more elegant method to access Mail attachments within XI (3.0)?
    Thank you,
    Magnus

This is an example for getting the file name of the attachment:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/AdapterModulePI7.0GetAttachmentName
To read the attachment, you just use replace getDocument by getAttachment or getAttchmentIterator
    https://help.sap.com/javadocs/pi/SP3/xpi/com/sap/engine/interfaces/messaging/api/Message.html
Check the source of the sample module to see how it works.

  • Cannot access mail after password change

    iPhone 3G
My main e-mail account is BTinternet.com (joined with Yahoo). Recently they updated their mail system, I had to create a new account and change my password. Then my e-mail (accessed on my Mac computer) did not work for a while. When it came on again, I was made to change my password again. I did so. Now I can send and receive mail on my computer again, both directly from the BT/Yahoo mail page and from amail client on my computer.
I then very carefully changed the server settings on my iPhone and changed the password there (for incoming and outgoing mail) to the latest version. But now I cannot send or receive mail on the iPhone. I have checked and rechecked all settings, but all I can get is a message that my username and/or password are wrong. But they are not wrong. I have repeatedly re-entered the right version. What can I do?
Thank you for any help anyone can offer.

AAN2, you're a genius. Only a genius would think of something so simple. Thank you very much — and especially for being so astonishingly quick off the mark.

  • Cannot access mail after upgrading from tiger to leopard

When I accessed Mail from applications after installing leopard I received the following message "You cannot use this version of the application Mail with this version of MacOSX" any advice please?

    Hello Hannah:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I think we need a bit more information.
What method did you use to upgrade?
What Mail level is on your system (highlight the Mail icon in your application folder and then +"get info.")+

  • Can't access mail after ios 8 Update- iPad 2

Updated to ios 8 on iPad 2. Tonight mail app has ben crashing after it trys to open. Repeatedly. Everything was working fine before upgrade and now having issues with mail, slow to open anything in Safari, poor wifi connection, etc. I feel like an idiot for trusting the upgrade, should have known better!! Genius Bar appointments are booked out a week and chat wants to charge me $19 to get with them. I feel like going back to Windows!! Terrible support from Apple!!!

Because Apple does not participate in the forum. That was indicated in the information that you agreed to when you joined the ASC. If you want to ask a question and describe your problem, maybe someone will answer. If you would like to speak with Apple, then you need to use the Contact Us link on the bottom of each page here.
And in your original post, you indicate that you solved the problem. In regards to your final question there, I would say the problem lies with your email provider. They determine what settings are necessary to access and use their email. If the account would not work with SSL on, and works with it turned off, that indicates they do not use SSL. I would be leery about an email provider that does not use some type of security.

  • How to restore mail after M/c has been to hospital!!

Because of the myriad of problems I had with my iMAC, it had to go to be repaired and had a new HDD and Logic Board fitted. (No wonder the thing was so unstable from day 1!)
However, before it went away I backed the whole thing up with the Time Machine to a separate HDD. The machine is now back with me and I cannot see how to get the mail details, including messages and settings out of the backup, equally so I can't find all the contacts in the Contacts Book. I cannot see how to get in to the bowels of the backup to get these details. Can any one help?
    Cheers

    • I cannot see how to get in to the bowels of the backup to get these details.
You do have to be able to navigate through your back ups.
    1. Open the back up drive and look at it in column view. Navigation is easiest in column view
Select a date, and keep navigating through the contents till you find what you want. Mailboxes are particularly obscure, so make sure you have the correct folder.
    1. emails. Go to Mail / File / Import Mailboxes. Select Apple Mail and navigate through the back up till you find the mailbox you want to import. Select it and click on Choose.
    2. Contacts - same procedure starting at Contacts / File / Import.
    3. You can also import Bookmarks - File / Import Bookmarks ...
    same for iPhoto, etc. etc.
It is a painful process, but it does work.

  • How to send mail after downloading iOS5 onto iPhone 4?

    Hello
While setting up iOS 5.0 i was alerted my home POP email was needing verification for my existing ME account, even though I'd never used home POP account before. I did verify it and have both it (in Canada a Telus service provider '[email protected]') and my existing ME account verified.
I am able to send mail on iphone with Me account but not with Telus account.
I rebooted both computer and phone, deleted and re-set up Telus account on iPhone, and still not able to send mail.
Any help would be most appreciated.

I have the same problem. The downoad went smoothly with no errors displayed. My phone updated just fine, all my apps appeared and nothing was lost. The phone with iOS5 worked perfectly for about two hours and suddenly, nothing. No home+lock button combo, no home button, no response when placed on a charger, my computer won't even recognize that a device has been plugged in. This is horribly frustrating, especially considering how much searching I had to do just to find out that someone else had this problem. I hope mine wakes up for a second in the morning at least.
Does anyone know what to do about this?

  • How to access mail in a second email address

I have hotmail and yahoo. I can access all of my folders in hotmail but only inbox and trash in yahoo. How can I correct this problem?

Set your Yahoo account up in Thunderbird again, but this time using IMAP, if possible. It's been so long since I looked at yahoo that I can't remember if they support IMAP.

  • How to access mail if different users use same email - sent, trash, etc, are not the same in both user's thunderbird. How do I fix that?

I have different users on my computer, me, spouse, etc. We share the same email. I have thunderbird loaded correctly in one account. In the other account it only grabs the inbox messages, not the sent messages. How do I get it so both thunderbirds work in both accounts on the same computer? Right now I need to switch user to view the sent emails that are sent from the other account.

IMAP will sync messages, but if your sharing on a single computer you would probably be better off sharing the same profile. It is not as if you will both be using it at the same time. The information in this link should help with that.
