Currently i have a windows pc accessing my iMac at work via VNC software. I just purchased another iMac for home use. What is the best way to access my iMac at work from my iMac at home? Thanks. Bill

Hi Babu,
You need to install VPN client software on your mechine, then ask your office network admin for VPN gateway/ server IP(it will be a public IP) and VPN Id and password, you configure it in your home sys's VPN client. Once it is done Install SAPGUI and connect to internet then connect to your office VPN server. Now you can connet to your SAP server.

my system runs off java and citrix, i tried chrome,firefox and safari - same issue, if my system cannot detect java it wont run, it runs on plug ins.

I'm looking to be able to take my Ipad with me on the road and access and use applications on my iMac from home. I want to use the applications as if I was in front of Imac. I also have fusion installed running windows on my iMac and need to use an application on that as well. Is that possible?

How do I stop imac from shutting down automatically after 15minutes of inactivity, trying to play music but the imac keeps going to sleep, tried changing power saving preferences to never shut down, never go to sleep, unticked put the hard disks to sleep, automatically reduce brightness, but still goes to sleep.

Try a PRAM/NVRAM reset.
Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information. If issues persist, your Mac's logic board battery may need to be replaced. The logic board battery helps retain NVRAM/PRAM settings when your computer is shut down. You can take your Mac to a Mac Genius or Apple Authorized Service Provider to replace the battery on the logic board.

What is the need to search for a program.
Use transaction SM30 or SE16 to create or maintain entries in the table.
e.g. if the Maintenance view is created on table A, then Goto transaction SM30 or SE16 and give the table name as A and proceed. This will automatically take u to the maintenance view on tha table A.

Can no longer access ESPN3 away from home

After setting up the remote access feature, I used to be able to access espn3 away from home, but can no longer do so. When I select an event to watch, I see the prompt to select internet service provider and then continue. I then receive a login error message from AT&T. I just tried the same thing using my wife's laptop and it works just fine, so there is something not quite right on my computer. Any ideas of what to look for to fix this?

Can't access work IMAP from home

We're running mail service (IMAP) on OS X Server 10.3.9 at the office. Everything works fine when I'm on the network locally - I can send and receive external emails etc.
However, I can't access the server from home using either the domain name or IP address. I used to be able to but we've recently changed ISP & router and I'm not sure if this has affected it. I assume the MX records for the domain are fine since we can send and receive.
I'm not really an IT admin-type guy (it's just kinda become my responsibility) so I don't fully understand DNS, local domains etc.
If anybody has any pointers, I'd really appreciate it.

DNS Basics: the DNS server basically resolves a 'name' to an IP address. E.g. mail.mydomain.com to the IP address of the mailserver.
When you are inside the local network (LAN), your computers probably find the server using a local IP address. When you are outside the LAN, then your computer will find it EITHER by using the public IP address of your firewall OR using a name which will resolve to the same.
Since it worked before you changed ISPs, I'm guessing that you had it set explicitly to the WAN IP address. This will have changed with the change of ISP.
Easiest way to fix this is to use the same host name as you MX record is set to. So if your MX record is mail.mydomain.com then use this as it is obviously resolving to the IP address of your mail server (or more exactly, the IP address of your firewall).
NEXT, since your router has also changed (and I presume this is also your firewall) then you need to ensure that the imap port required (143) is open and port-forwarding to the internal IP address of the mail server.

Why can't I access my VM from home?

I dropped my phone yesterday while working and had to get a replacement phone. I'm using my wife's Samsung at the moment, but have been trying to access my VM from home, why won't it work? I dial my cell # and the recording goes on and on even with using *86, pound, or anything so I can input my password, and nothing works, it wants me to leave a message. I'm frustrated. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for the info but I've tried it probably a dozen times so far and it won't do it. Not sure why and it's annoying. Even my wife's tried it from her cell phone and it doesn't work. At this point and time, I'm ready to say forget it and when my replacement phone finally comes in, my wife can access the VM for me.

Ahh, Ok. I actually had to go to Lynda.com to watch a training video of this highly bassackwards maneuver, but now I have it. In other words, while the intuitive thing is to make a new event to hold the clip you want and then open the old event and drag the clip into it's new event, the only way to accomplish this maneuver is to NOT create a new event, but rather, go to the clip AFTER the one you want to move, select it and then Right-Click on it and select SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP (or go to FILE>SPLIT EVENT BEFORE SELECTED CLIP). Then you wait a few seconds while the program thinks a bit (no feedback it is doing this - just a pause) and then it automatically creates a new event with the clip you wanted. Now just double-click the new event and name it something meaningful.

Thanks for the suggesstion :)..It worked as well.
The Actual problem was in the "tnsnames.ora" file where in I need to make entry for the new SERVICE name.

Can't access my iMac from a Windows 98 PC

When I was prompted for password on the PC running Win 98, I simply clicked "OK" as I had not set any user password on my iMac. However, I got the "wrong password" message and therefore failed to access my iMac from that PC.
On the PC, I could ping the iMac without problems. I can also access the PC from my iMac. I have the username on the PC that is exactly the same as the one I have enable "Windows Sharing".
Any clues on this?

I tried but without luck. The issue is, it prompts me for password and whatever I input, it says wrong password. In fact, I do not have any password set on my iMac and therefore I should be let through if I simply click the "OK" button on the password dialog without putting anything in the password field.
