How to access SMP if I don't use SAP product but only MaxDB?

Hi All,
I am sorry if this is answered elsewhere, I am a MaxDB user and our company operates a website with MaxDB as the data engine behind it since 2003. Recently I am evaluating if we can use synchronization to scale out, however I hit road blocks when I research information and most are on SMP which requires a login. How can I get access there ?

the SAP Service Marketplace is for SAP customers only.
Anyhow, especially for MaxDB there are many information available for public use.
There's the [WIKI|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/wiki?path=/display/maxdb/main] and the [MaxDB Website|http://maxdb.sap.com/] that includes online searchable documentation, as well as trainings materials and presentations from the MaxDB events.
A good starting point is always the [MaxDB Homepage here in SDN|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/maxdb].
If you don't find your questions answered with these options, you can always post your question here to the forum.
Anyhow, what information did you want to look up and only find them in the SAP notes on SMP?
Especially if you're an "Open Source"-MaxDB user, most of the available documentation is already made accessible via the resources I mentioned.

I checked with your account and it shows that you have purchased an annual subscription of Adobe ExportPDF online service. Right?

All you need to do is sign in at "https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf" using your Adobe ID and password.
Then, you can upload PDF files from your computer and convert them to other formats like Word, PowerPoint, etc.
On completion, you can download the converted file on your computer and edit it for further use.

That's the same question:

Answer: you need something unique in that object you can get a handle on.
Or you use the selection a user of your script is doing and work with that selection…
A "scrollable frame" is nothing special. What it makes it a "scrollable frame" is the DPS software.
So you have to look for attached labels on the object, that identify the object for the PDS plug-in "Overlay Creator" as a "scrollable frame". That's possible with the "extractLabel("KeyString")" function. But you need to know the appropriate key-string in advance.
In another of your thread in the DPS forum, I basically answered the question how to obtain those key-strings.
When knowing the key-string you could loop through all your page items (you can skip all text frames) in the allPageItems-collection, to identify the "scrollable frame" by extracting the right label.
If you have more than one "scollable frames" you need a second unique identifier for the particular object.
That could be nearly any property.
Keep in mind, there is no "scrollableFrames" collection in the DOM !

Hi Silviya,
you can access this database using a technique called DB Multiconnect - sometimes written as multi-connect.
Search the SAP documentation and notes for this term and you will find how to do it.
Essentially you configure the remote database connection via transaction DBCON.
If your SAP system is not running on Oracle you will need to install the db-specific kernel files for Oracle along with the Oracel db client software - SQL*Net.
Then you can access the Oracle database from ABAP using native-SQL. It works a treat!

you can use the CR Designer and build CR reports that access your R/3 system. Another option is to use the R/3 connector for the Data Federator which is available in the Innovation Center. Still this connector is not a product rather can be used on your own risk.

PS: Accessing directly the tables of the underlying database(e.g oracle) using universes and Web Intelligence is not recommended. You will not be able to decode all contents of the database tables you are accessing since in some cases R/3 encodes the data before storing them in the actual database tables.

Thank you sberman, yes the first thing I did was check my iPod. Instant synching works great between the iPad and iPod, so it was deleted there as well. On both devices I have my Notes account to the same account.
I ashamedly have not synched to iTunes for ages. After I calmed down I realized that most of the info on that deleted Note I had copied and pasted from an excel file in November. I'm in the process of doing that again, and am only out the recent info.

Thanks Ned. I did find this page, however it isn't an upgrade. I have been purchasing Adobe products for years so that I could just pay the upgrade price for current products. With the current system, I would be paying much more than I would for an upgrade. For example, I have been using my version of CS for at least three years. The upgrade cost me $750 so that comes out to around $21 per month. I guess I have no options as far as upgrading except for paying for the overpriced CC. Oh well, time to start looking for alternatives. It was just so convenient to have the same programs at home that I use at work.

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups. Assuming the migration was successful, you now have a new account - it was migrated. Migration Assistant doesn't copy files, it copies accounts. To see your documents you'll need to log into the account you migrated. (It has the same password it did on the other computer.)

I can access a function in a package using OCI drivers but not PDO drivers

Hello all, i am a newbie to Oracle and its drivers for PHP. I would like to use PDO, and I have my database activity in packages, which have procedures and functions. My package has overloaded functions and that has been giving me a tough time with these drivers. So one signature of my function get_data contains a four arguments and all four are numbers, while another signature of get_data has the first two as numbers and the next two as varchar2. So when I try to access this function which is part of a package, I am able to retrieve data, and the driver I am using is OCI8, but when I try to do the same with PDO, it does not work. It gives me this error,

I am still perplexed why is PDO giving me an error, when I have virtually mentioned everything is asks for?

I think the only person who can really answer this question is Chris Jones. For my money I tend to steer clear of PDO as it is a bit quirky ( at least in my experience ) and it does not support reference cursors.

We want to implement ECC and CRM in the Higher Education Industry. Our client has already a Student Management System (not SAP) and doesn't want to change it now.
We want to use SAP for billing, instalment plans and debt management (- btw, not only for that). Which SAP modules should we use for that and which object should we configure if we don't use Campus Management?
Could we create a business agreement /contract in CRM with students courses as products? Or could we use service order?

You could certainly do a standalone SAP student accounting implementation which interfaces with the legacy student system. This approach has actually been done before at other insitutitions, including those that choose to implement Student Accounting prior to implementing the rest of Student Lifecycle Management.
Student Accounting would handle all of the billing, collections, payments, installment plans, etc. It is based on FI-CA (Contract Accounting). The biggest question is whether tuition fees would be calculated in SAP or in the existing system.
I would not see CRM as a necessary component at all for student accounting, but you might have other uses for it (such as recruitment).
