How to activate a new phone to replace a broken one

I have a family plan, with 4 phones on it.
My daughter put hers through the washing machine, its toast!
So, we have a brand new, never-used palm center on hand.
But when I try to activate it, using the page at https://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/activation/activatephone.jsp I pick the line, enter the new MEID and then it just takes me to a page with no other options, nothing happens!

ok, so I eventually find my way to the number 800-922-0204
I call that, walk through the menus.
it tells me turn off the old phone, dial *228-SEND from the new one and walk through the activation
well, the old one is toast, its definitely off, so I follow along
- dial *228-send
- enter the phone-line # I want the new phone on
- enter my billing passwd, replacing letters with digits
- it gives me a "wait a minute message"
- then it gives me a "we cannot activate your equipment" message, no reason
- then it tells me to dial 800-922-0204 for assistance
so, here I am, stuck in an endless loop!

The only "unlimited" plan I can think of where this would not apply is the old Connect plan for multimedia/basic phones. That unlimited data, on devices such as the LG Voyager, EnvTouch, and other "multimedia" devices is not the same.
If you currently have an individual $29.99 unlimited data plan with a 3G Smartphone, then you can buy a BBQ10 retail and activate it with the same data plan and keep the unlimited.

Is your phone still covered by warranty? If so, go to your nearest Apple store and depending on what happened, this may or may not be covered by warranty. If it is, then you can get a replacement exactly as the phone you already have.
If out of warranty, then there is nothing you can do and you'll have to pay.

Thank you for your suggestions. I downloaded a more recent version of Twain, but this didn't help. I also tried closing and opening Photo Shop and restarting my computer without success. Reinstalling Photo Shop sounds like a very promising solution, but I'm not sure I will do it. In the meantime I can scan items using a printer program. These scans open in Photo Shop. It is an extra step.

Not necessarily. You can remove the SIM card from the phone and set it up via wifi only first and then go the your MyVerizon account online and activate the phone.

Log in to your MyVerizon (verizonwireless.com) and on the Overview page scroll down to I WANT TO... in the third column of boxes, under DEVICE, the 3rd one down is "Activate or Switch Device". Borrow a phone and call if necessary. Use a pay phone if there is one available, use a friends or neighbors phone.
We have used these types of communications devices long before cell phones came into use.
If the phones are 4G LTE and both have sim cards in the devices you can swap them out and each phone should work.

No. I have quite a few more 16,000, so I don't manually manage. Making playlists for each device makes things much easier to organize. You can create regular lists of essential tracks and smart playlists to automatically catch new content, top rated, most played etc. If you'd done it this way all along configuring a new or restored device would be the work of moments.
