How to Activate Adobe Document Services

Hi
I would like to develop PDF reports from my Web Dynpro application.
I have the Adobe LiveCycle Designer installed and working.
I understand that Adobe Document Services comes as standard on portal 7.0, but needs to be activated.
Could someone pls show me how to activate the Adobe Document Services on the Visual Administrator?
thanks in advance
Anton Kruse

Hi Francois
I down loaded a trial credential and installed in but still get an error.
I am trying to run the completed tutorial provided on the SDN - TutWD_DynamicForm.
Please could you look at it ans steer me in the right direction.

  • How to test Adobe Document Service credentials

    Hi,
I have installed a sneak preview version of Java stack 7.0. With that I have downloaded the latest credentials from the sdn and followed these steps.
Copied the .pfx file to <INST_DRIVE>:\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\AdobeDocumentServices\TrustManagerService\trust\credentials.
    Logged into visual admin .
On the Cluster tab, choose Server 0 -> Services -> Document Services Configuration
On the Runtime tab, select Credentials
Choose Browse to search for the name of the credential and then Select
In the Alias field, enter the alias of the credential you installed, for example ReaderRights. (Entries for the name of the credential are case-sensitive)
In Password field, enter the password you received together with the credential you installed (filename.txt in the archive). Confirm the password again and then click Add
Restart the following services for the changes to take effect: PDF Manipulation Module, Document Services Trust Manager. To perform this, right-click on the repective service choose Stop and after the service has stopped, Start it again
Restart also the application com.adobe/AdobeDocumentServices located at Server 0 -> Services -> Deploy (radio button Application)
After doing so I tried executing the demo application from the link :
    http://localhost:50100/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/TutWD_OnlineInteractiveForm/OnlineInteractiveFormApp
But the applicaiton was not getting executed. I got an error :

I tried executing the Webservice of ADS using the URL: http://localhost:50100/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
But it is asking for username and password.
Can anyone guide me what would have gone wrong. Is there any other way by which I can test ADS.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Adobe Document Services Need Seperate Licence ?

    Dear All,
To activate Adobe Document Services, do we need seperate licence and does that need to be installed seperately on ERP 6.0 ? , Do we need to order /download required components ?
    Please advice.

    Hi Nick,
I think dont need a licence for ADS if you dont use ssl. If you use ssl from your java system to abap system then you have to configure some settings. If you dont use ssl then no need of licence.Just upgrade to current ADS Support package and follow the document

  • Adobe Document Services / Interactive Forms

    Gud Mrng Techies,
Can anyone suggest a gud reading on
    1. How To Configure Adobe Document Services on J2EE Engine.
    2. How To Work With Adobe Interactive Forms in NWDS using Adobe Live Cycle Designer.
    Thanks in advance....
    Bhushan Reddy.

    Hi Bhushan,
    Very good morning.!!
The main purpose of ADS,adobe dosument services is to design and create interactive PDF forms. These services are installed as Web services on a J2EE Engine and have the destination URL as default. We need to ensure that we install the Adobe document services on the J2EE Engine on which the Web Dynpro runtime environment is deployed.
If the Adobe document services are not provided on the J2EE Engine on which the Web Dynpro runtime environment is deployed, you must change the destination URL of the Adobe document services using the Visual Administrator.
Check the below links for a good reading of the same
    http://www.adobe.com/nl/pdfs/7_SAP.pdf
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/enterprise/partners/pdfs/solution_in_detail_interactive_forms.pdf
hope these are helpful for u.

  • Documentation for using Adobe Document Services

    Hi,
Is there any documentation available on how to use Adobe Document Services? I have installed Adobe Document Services for Netweaver 2004. But I am not able to use the services as I do not know how to access them (is it like Adobe Document Services exposes a set of APIs/webservices and we have to call them? If yes, is there any documentation on the same?).
    Thanks,
    Vibha.

    Hi,
I think the below mentioned links will give a clear idea about ADS Configuration.

Check MEDIA LIBRARY - Documentation link in this link.
And also check this link too...

  • Adobe Document Services - http Response 500 - How to configure the logging?

We are building an application in Web Dynpro Java that fetches data from an R/3 system via an RFC connection and is then supposed to show said data in a pdf within an iview. For that task we want to use the InteractiveForm UIElement. We bind the data to its pdfSource in the iViewu2019s context. Currently the form only consists of a text field bound to one attribute element of the pdfSource context node.
The ADS webservice is configured according to the manuals found here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/fa/0b700d6cfd4e03a8ec2186ba6ff4af/frameset.htm
and tested successfully under the following link
    http://<portal_host>:<port>/AdobeDocumentServices/Config?style=document
However, when we execute the application, an error occurs in the webservice generating the pdf, namely Invalid Content-Type:text/html. The error occurs when the iView containing the form is shown for the first time, even before the attributes of the pdfSource context are filled with data (we expect to see an empty form).
As it seems the webservice is expected to return a MIME type of either application/pdf or text/xml (we donu2019t know for sure since the SAP manuals and forums are inconclusive here), but instead we get text/html. This seems to be due to the fact that the webservice exits with an http response 500 Internal Server Error (we used several network monitoring tools to confirm that such a response is sent). Since such http responses are but html files with an empty body, yet not xml or pdf, the aforementioned error does make sense to us, but we do not know what Internal Error has caused it.
The only help that SAP seems to provide for an error u201CInvalid Content-Type:text/htmlu201D in context with ADS points to an expiring password or otherwise poor configuration of the ADSUser, which (most certainly) is not our case here since, and as said above, the configuration was and can be tested successfully.
We then tried to view the logs for this error on the machine where the J2EE engine is running with ADS installed according to this (not very comprehensible) guide:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/de/97/ccfc3f0ac2c642e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
We cannot find anything relevant in the server.log of the Visual Administrator except this message (it is generated exactly when our error occurs u2013 the trace severity is set to ALL for all Adobe application elements according to manual):
    Date , Time , Message , Severity , Category , Location , Application , User
12/08/2010 , 13:50:46:511 , application [webdynpro/dispatcher] Processing HTTP request to servlet [dispatcher] finished with error.
The error is: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.clientserver.adobe.pdfdocument.base.core.PDFDocumentRuntimeException: Failed to  GENERATEPDF

There is no error.pdf to be found on the file system and since neither have we known nor are we told by the error message, whether the underlying cause is is a render error or connection error or configuration error or what not, we donu2019t know whether the error.pdf is supposed to be generated at all.
Or could there be any other reason why generation didnu2019t take place?
Furthermore we canu2019t seem to be able to find any logs more verbose or detailed about this issue - at least not within the Visual Administrator or the portalu2019s nwa.
How is it possible to properly debug the webservice for pdf-generation or at least to retrieve a fully detailed log containing all notifications and exception stack traces etc.?
I am assuming that we are making some basic mistakes regarding the logging configuration - but what?
Our goal is to know what causes the 500 Internal Server Error response that causes the Incorrect Content-Type exception.
We are using a NetWeaver 7.01 portal installation with Adobe Document Services 7.01 installed on a Windows Server 2003 platform.
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    Serg

Have you tried restarting the Java PDF object in Visual Administrator?  Once you do all of your config, you have to restart the PDF object (sao.com/tcwdpdfobject) for the changes to take place.  I am assuming you've run all of the test programs in SAP (FP_TEST_00, FP_TEST_03, etc.).  Is there any chance that the ADSUSER is locked somehow?

From what I can tell I've done the necessary post installation steps for ADS.  If anyone has seen this and has a suggestion of how I might resolve this, I would appreciate it.  Thank you.
    ~TJ

    Hi,
Please find the step that you need to configure for Local ADS.
1 Testing the Adobe Document Service
Check the adobe services on JAVA System by using the
    URL:  http://hostname.domain:5xx00/wsnavigator
Click AdobeDocumentService->Click on Test ->rpData->then Send ->then enter ADSUSER and password.
2 Test the RFC Connection in ABAP Side
Goto SM59 and then check the RFC connection under the HTTP connection to external server.
this Rfc should point to its own .
3 Activate the ICF service in ABAP Side
Log on to your SAP Web AS ABAP system
    Choose transaction SICF.
Choose default host u2192 sap u2192 bc u2192 fp in the tree.
    Choose Service/Virt.Host u2192 Activate
4 Configuration in Destination Visual Admin
Create the destination FP_ICF_DATA_SID under HTTP
    Under the Url give http://hostname.domain:80xx
    User ADS_agent and password here.
5 Execute Following reports in ABAP Side
Goto se38 : Program name, Now Execute report FP_PDF_TEST_00
    Now run the report FP_CHECK_DESTINATION_SERVICE
once run this report without checking the destimation and after thet run with checking the destination box.both should return the same number of bytes as per note 944221
    Thanks

  • Error in installing creditionals for Adobe Document Services

    Hi All,
I have installed SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial on my local machine and when I try to register the Register the password for credential by following the steps below I face a problem in step 4. The error is a pop up as enclosed.
<b>An error occured while indexing the credential files:
com.adobe.service.sap.ConfigurationException:An error occured while indexing the credential files</b>
1.Log on to the Visual Administrator (C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\admin\go.bat)
    2. On the Cluster tab, choose Server 0 -> Services -> Document Services Configuration
    3. On the Runtime tab, select Credentials
    4. Choose Browse to search for the name of the credential and then Select
    5. In the Alias field, enter the alias of the credential you installed, for example ReaderRights. (Entries for the name of the credential are case-sensitive)
    6. In Password field, enter the password you received together with the credential you installed (filename.txt in <zip_extract_folder>\SAPNetWeaver04SneakPreviewJavaSP11\ADSCredentialFiles). Confirm the password again and then click Add
&#56256;&#56451; Restart the following services for the changes to take effect: PDF Manipulation Module, Document Services Trust Manager
    7. Restart also the application com.adobe/AdobeDocumentServices
I followed the steps given the following posts
Latest NW Sneakpreview SP16 and Adobe Interactive Forms
    TrustServices Credentials problem
Adobe Document Services: How to upgrade from ADS SP 9 to ADS SP 15
But, it still does not resolve my problem. I also upgraded the version to SP16 and yet it does not resolve the problem. Can someone tell me what could be wrong?
Thanks for all your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Divya

    Hi,
All the form-related services have to be started first: the IIOP on dispatcher and server, all the Document Services *, PDF manupulation and XML form module.
Then you should be able to register your credential.

    Thanks,

I believe this means that your test was successful.  I was able to get this same response -- which is good, but now I can't get this response, I get Exception in method rpData now, with no version info -- so I don't know how I broke this piece.

  • Adobe Document Services Configuration

    Hi Experts,
    <b>ERP2004 SP17, EP 6.0 SP20, AS Java 6.40 (web dynpr runtime), As Java 7.0 (for ADS).</b>
I am running ADS on one server (NW 7.0) and web dynpro runtime on server (AS Java 6.40). We are using central SLD. ADS on 64 bit lunux systems is not supported if AS Java 6.40 is installed. I also have followed the note; 925741 Adobe DOcument Service with non supported platforms.
I am trying to configure ADS using the configuration guide for ADS for NW2004. I published the ADS to SLD.
    I went to http://<host>.<company.com>:50000/AdobeDocumentServices/Config
    and gave ADSUSER/Password,
    I get the following response.
    <b>RESPONE 1:</b>

The document says it should bring the version of the ADS. I got a tree like response in which i see an element which shows the version: 710.20061024154505.342190
I can not execute PCRs that come with MSS business packages. I am getting an error like this below.

I do not know RESPONSE 1 is causing ERROR 1 on portal.
I did not yet install adobe reader credentials.
any ideas why I am seeing the error on portal?

One more observation I have made is:
a HTTP destination is created on AS Java 6.40 as part of the configuration.
<b>5.3 Creating a Destination of the Destination Service in the Java Environment</b><b>If you use print forms you have to create the destination service on the server where the Adobe document services are installed. If you use forms in ISR scenarios, for example in the Business Package MSS, you have to create the destination service on the J2EE engine that hosts Web Dynpro.</b>To create the new destination, proceed as follows:
    1. Log on to the Visual Administrator. See How to Start the Visual Administrator [on page 48].
    2. On the Cluster tab, choose Server <x> &#8594; Services &#8594; Destinations. Under Runtime, select HTTP. The available destinations are displayed. The information that applies to a selected destination is displayed in the right pane.
    3. Choose New in the navigation panel.
    4. In the dialog box that follows, enter the name FP_ICF_DATA for the new destination and choose OK.
    5. Under Connection Settings enter the message server (or Web Dispatcher) of the SAP Web AS ABAP in the URL field:
    http://<hostname>:<HTTP_port>
    and in case of SSL,
https://<hostname>:<HTTPS_port> To display the host name of your SAP Web AS ABAP log on to SAP Web AS ABAP and call transaction SICF. In the main menu, choose Goto &#8594; Port Information. The information is displayed on a screen; where the HTTP_port is specified under Services.
    6. Enter the client number of the system where the user ADS_AGENT exists in the field client. Keep the other fields System ID and Language empty.
    7. Select the authentication method to use for the connection, and enter the parameters for the authentication method in the corresponding fields (if applicable).
    • In the Username field enter ADS_AGENT (must exist as service user in SAP Web AS ABAP)
    • In the Password field enter the same password as given for SAP Web AS ABAP service user ADS_AGENT.
See Creating a Service User in the ABAP Environment [on page 32].
    8. If the connection is to use HTTPS, then specify how the connection should handle SSL server authentication.
    9. Save the data.
After this configuration, I picked the button SAVE and TEST,
    the system throws an error:
<b>Error during ping operation, Received HTTP response 404</b>

  • Adobe Document Services landscape question

    Hello,
We have installed Adobe Document Services (ADS) as part of Netweaver 2004s on a 32 bit Windows server. We have our Development Portal configured to point to this server in the configuration of ADS.
Can we use the same ADS server for our QA Portal? We want to limit the number of servers/instances that we have to install and maintain.
    Thank you,
    George Barta

    Hello,
There is a web service client connection to setup, and that's it (so nothing extraordinary there) !
Guids on how to do this are available on service.sap.com/adobe (configuration guide) and also in the following threads:
    ADS connection
    Using ADS on other server
