I use BSNL carrier in iphone 4, but can't able to set only "INTERNET TETHERING" setting as below.
I called many times BSNL but they can't understand situation. How to resolve this carrier problem in HOTSPOT?

Ensure that it is supported on your plan first. Once you know you have it on your plan try turning airplane mode on for about 30 seconds then turn it off. i have bought a factory unlocked iphone 3gs loaded with latest os 4.0 in usa for $850 , but i am unable to activate it over itunes.
I want to activate it without at&t sim as its factory unloacked.
Can anybody give me the process or any reference links on how to activate it.

If the iPhone had the 4.0 Beta loaded on it, the iPhone needs to be registered with a developer for the iPhone to even function. If it's not registered and the beta is installed then it is a brick. Regardless of if it is registered or not, as Tamara said the iPhone 4.0 Beta has no support. The Beta is a beta and is for developers who are developing apps. That way they can release apps as soon as the OS 4.0 is released sometime this summer. Hello Folks,
My friend got me an iPhone 3GS from Hong Kong (Model MC131ZP/A); and I am in India. This is the chain of events and the final problem.
1. When I first opened the iPhone I could see the home screen and use my SIM in India. Though there was no app for Camera or Compass etc on the home screen.
2. First time iPhone connected to iTunes and it told me that the OS must be updated. I went ahead.
3. I updated the OS to 3.1.2 (05.11.07).
4. After that it is not able to recognize the same SIM telling me that Invalid SIM.
5. I check the Serial Number of my phone on Apple Support site and it says that iPhone is not even activated.
6. I have tried contacting Apple support via mails etc. but no response at all.
I am not able to understand how it worked in the first place. Did the seller in HK unlock it using some kind of software? He should not if it is an Factory Unlocked phone. Are all the MC131ZP factory unlocked?
Can someone please help me on how to activate the phone or what is going wrong here?

yes verizon will activate it for you. as long as it is a verizon phone. id be a little careful dealing with ebay, so you dont get ripped off. make sure you know what you're buying. you can also have the person(s) send you the ESN number, then call verizon (might be a website also ?) to make sure it is legit.

So I have an AT&T service and needed a new phone that would work internationally. I went to the Apple store and the guy said to simply buy an unlocked phone and that it will work in Prague which is where I'm headed. He said to get the verizon version of the unlocked iphone because it has the capability of 4g services in Europe. I told him that my plan was ATT and he kept insisting that it didn't matter what my plan was because the unlocked phones can work on any carrier.
So I got the iphone 4 unlocked and tried activating it but it didn't work. When I plug my phone into iTunes it says Phone Number: n/a. I can't use the 3g for internet and I can't send texts/make calls because there is no number. I would pop my sim card in, but there is no sim card slot on this phone. The guy insisted that I get this verizon version so I'm sure there is a way to activate it for AT&T without a simcard. I have looked everywhere and cannot find any info on this. Does anyone know how to get to the activation screen again? When I try restoring my iphone it says "The device isn't eligible for the constructed build."

You were given incorrect information from the person at the store. Verizon phones are not compatible with the AT&T network and vice-versa. This has nothing to do with locked or unlocked. The phones have different radios in them to support the different cell phone standards used by the 2 companies. (BTW, Sprint phones can be unlocked to work on the AT&T network because the 2 companies use the same standard for communication) In addition, the iPhone 4 (& 4s) are not 4G (LTE) phones, only the iPhone 5.

I should also add: There's no pending downloads in the iTunes store on my device or App store. 1st: not sure of answer, but doubtful if Facetime is not activated in Egypt. Ask service provider to
get correct answer. As political climate in Egypt changes, the answer may change.
2cd: Apple will not ship from US to other country or to known re-shippers. Either get relative/friend
in US to purchase and then sent to you or order through proper channels in the country where you are.
