How to activate NVDIA GTX 580 for After Effects cs5?

Hello,
I have adobe CS5. I bought an NVDIA GEFORCE GTX 580 .
I activated for Premier CS5, but I do not know how to activate for After Effects.
Can anyone help me?

What is it that you're expecting it to do?
After Effects doesn't use CUDA for processing. That's just Premiere Pro.
After Effects can use OpenGL for speeding up previews. See this page.

  • How to Optimize a New iMac for After Effects

I bought the most tricked out brand new iMac available, with 32GB ram, an updated graphics card, everything.
But, exporting my project from After Effects takes the same amount of time on my new iMac as it did on my 2011 macbook - about 6 hours.
I know how to manipulate my export settings, so maybe I just need to change my computer's system settings to work better with After Effects.
Mac had no advice and pointed me to Adobe, so here I am.
    Any advice?

The Mac Pro's are pretty killer for AE. On a Winbox, you simply get the
best processor(s) you can afford, max out the memory, get a good board
like ASUS or a Tyan if your really into finnicky thoroughbreds. The Vid
card will have little to do with AE, so research that on its own merits.

  • How do you fix Error Code:7 (After Effects CS5)

After a few minutes of working with any simple effects or presets in Adobe After Effects CS5 I will get this error below every time:
"Your hardware configuration does not meet minimum specifications needed to run the application. The application must close. Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html for help. Error code: 7"
Once this pops up I have to close the program without saving. Why am i receiving this error and how can I fix it? By looking at the specs below of my laptop I can't understand how I could get an error saying that my configuration does not meet minimun specifications.
    Here are my computer specs:
    Lenovo IdeaPad Y570
    Intel i7-2670QM 2.20GHz
    8 GB RAM
    Windows 7
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M with CUDA & dedicated 1GB RAM
    NVIDIA driver version 8.17.12.6844

Turn off your onboard intel graphics chip in the BIOS or configure your Optimus driver accordingly. Seems like AE is switching the graphics driver in the middle of things or the wrong one is used to begin with (that is the weaker intel chip). also simply updating all drivers may make the problem disappear.

  • Problems with Tutorials for After Effects CS5

I just recently downloaded After Effects CS5. I got the whole creative suite from being an IU student. I was watching the video tutorials for After Effects and when discussing importing files they talk about exercise files. I've looked all over and I can't find these files. Does anyone know how I can get them or where they're located? I'm running windows 7.

Mylenium may be right about which assets the tutorials were referring to, but I have no idea what tutorials you're talking about. We can't know what exercise files you're referring to if you don't telling us what tutorials you're talking about. There are many thousands of tutorials about After Effects, on dozens or hundreds of websites.
The best people to ask about the location of exercise files are the people who made the specific tutorials.
Keep in mind that a lot of tutorial makers (like Lynda.com) put some of heir tutorials online for free, and they sell subscriptions to the rest. Part of the subscription benefit is that you get access to the exercise files.

  • Best video card for After Effects CS5: nVidia's CUDA or Radeon's OpenGL?

I've searched all over the internet and I've found that both are companies are great. But I hear CUDA is important with CS5 (or at least Premiere). While ATI Radeon's OpenGL is very important for After Effect.
I do animation in After Effect. Very intense HD stuff with many effects and layers and I want it to run as smooth as possible, So I'm thinking Radeon 5850 (with my budget). BUT is Radeon's OpenGL more important than nVidia's CUDA?
What will make After Effects run the best it can; between say Radeon 5850 vs a comperable nVidia card like GTX 470.
What should I know about a video card to make After Effects rock?
THANK YOU SO MUCH for reading this, I really need an answer.

Adobe use OpenGL in AE and Photoshop (maybe other software too ?)
ATi card are cheaper for better perf :
    - ATi Radeon 6870 : 180$ -- perf : 2800pts
    - nVidia Geforce 550 Ti : 180$ --- perf: 1800 pts
I think people should buy ATi's card fi they only doing AE
of course I'm speaking for people who don't want to spend a lot of money on the GPU.

  • Configuration error number 6 for after effects cs5 for mac

Hi.  I just restored my mac os x (it ran out of space).  Before I restored it, I moved all of my important files, and more importantly, my adobe after effects cs5 files and applications.  But now, when I try and start it up, I get a window the pops up and says:
    Configuration Error
Please uninstall and reinstall the product.
If this problem still occurs, please contact Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 6
    http://www.adobe.com/support/
So whenever I try and uninstall it by clicking on the application that looks like a red box and says "Uninstall Adobe After Effects CS5.5" and the same message pops up.  I also tried searching through the adobe support articles and help stuff and through the help forums on this website.  None of them had anything to do with Error 6 that was mentioned in the message.

  • How compatible is Motion 5 with Adobe After Effects CS5.5?

If I create a project in Motion 5, am I able to export this project so that it is natively importable into Adobe After Effects CS5.5? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The two will not read each other's project files.  You could try an XML export, and import that into AE.  Audomatic Duck makes translators for this type of stuff.

  • I can not activate NVDIA GTX 580 in PREMIER

    Hello,
I have adobe PREMIER CS5. I bought an NVDIA GEFORCE GTX 580 .
When I make new project, in the Video Rendering and Playback option it appears Mercury Playback Engine Software Only, and I can not change that, it is blurred the button.
    Can anyone help me?

In Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.
Open the file 'cuda_supported_cards.txt' with Notepad.
Add a text line "GeForce GTX 580" exactly like spelled here, but without the double quotes.
Save the file and open PR. Done.

  • Support for nvidia gtx-980 for after effects and premiere

Can someone tell me when Adobe is going to give CUDA support for the Nvidia gtx-980 video cards in After Effects and Premiere CS6?  I purchased this card specifically for those programs, and DON'T want to do a subscription to Creative Cloud.  I purchased the Master Collection through Adobe, and understand that CC versions support it.  Why can't Adobe issue a btch file or update to include these cards.  I am aware of OpenGl support, but I would like to add my new card.  I also just purchased an i7-4790K to upgrade from i5-3570 to help speed up rendering, but would really like to see the video card supported.

    The simple answer is no.

  • Are there any 32 bit trials for After Effects CS5?

I wanted to use After Effects and Premire for more solid video editing, but I have a 32 bit version of Windows 8.1. I found a page about CS5.5 Support for 32 but Windows but I'm not sure how to follow this tutorial before buying the software. I wanted to make sure it works on my 32 bit Windows before I purchase them.

If your files are so important, of course you have them all backed up.
Make an extra backup.  Install 64 bit Windows.
    Problem solved.

  • Ilustrator CS5 Exports for After Effects CS5

    Hi,
I have a layers illustrator document that I've had issues with trying to export correctly into After Effects. I've trawled the web and found various bit ot advice around illustrator preferences ( "File Handling and Clipboard" -> preserve Paths) and saving as pdf (I think at "ai" files should work too) and finally - preparing your illustrator document for exporting. From what I can tell on the last section layers need to be flat (i.e. no sub layers etc.), which can be acomplished by the layer panel fly out menu -> "Release to layers". Anything small items that you don't want exported should be grouped.
OK here's my issue. I don't seem to be able to flatten out all my layers. I have:
    - Layer1
         -Text1
         -Text2
         -Box
and what I think I need is:
    -Text1
    - text2
    -Box
that is, every at the same level - flat. However I can't see how to do it.
I'd appreciate any help or advice.
    Thx

Release to layer sequence then select all then drag all the layers out of layer 1 or the layer they were a part of and now save it and inport that as a composition retain layer size.
the force alphabetical order is optional and you do not have to select Illustrator pdf/eps you can select footage or all files then just seect the ai file.
I recommend bringing it in as an .ai file
I then dragged the folder containing the layers into the time line and had to reorder them they were kind of bckward.

  • Two questions for After Effects CS5 Mac

    Hello,  (new to AE)
I am trying to figure out why my "make movie" export is smaller than the composition I created. My comp settings are 1280 x 720 and my compostion window is at 100%. My output settings are also locked at 1280 x 720. However when I export it and watch it it is a lot smaller in the Quicktme Player player which is 640 x 360. I don't know where 640 x 360 came from. See images.  I am not sure how to figure out what size I should make something in After Effects so it looks the same size when exported. I mainly am using this for web.
The second issue is that when I do a  Full RAM preview for this (6 secs long). It never finishes it. It stops a coupple of second short everytime. I don't have ths probem when I Ram preview it at a lower resolution.
    Thanks in advance....

Yes, that's why it's called RAM preview - you only have so much of it and eventuall you will run out. Read: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/424030?tstart=0
I am not sure how to figure out what size I should make something in After Effects so it looks the same size when exported.
Nothing to figure out, you are just pushing the wrong buttons/ using wrong settings. 100% user error. AE by itself does not resize anything unless you tell it to which can happen
    a) by setting resolution in the render settings to half (which often happens by using the "Current Settings" option while your comp is zoomed to 50%)
    b) likewise, using the crop and stretch in the render settings
    c) picking a format/ CoDec that is constrained, i.e. only works with fixed sizes and resolutions
Otherwise everything is left as it is in the comp. I suggest you do some serious reading up on render settings and output modules on the help.

  • New PC for After effects Cs5.5, Cs6 and probably very soon CC

I want to buy a new computer in the folliwng days/weeks.
I use essentially After Effects (also Photoshop, Illustrator and Cinema 4D)
I had planned to buy the following pc configuration:
    - CPU: Intel Core i7-4930K (3.4 GHz)
    - MB: ASUS P9X79 PRO
    - RAM: (32 Go or 64 Go  ?)  G.Skill RipJaws Z Series 64 Go (8 x 8 Go) DDR3 2133 MHz CL11  (cerrtified by Asus for this MB)
    - GPU: Gigabyte GV-N770OC-4GD - GeForce GTX 770 4 Go
    - POWER: Be Quiet ! Alimentation Dark Power Pro 10-850W 80PLUS Platinum
    - HDD (for OSD and programms): Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512 Go
    - HDD (for current project and AE cache): Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512 Go
    - Stockage HDD: 2X Seagate Desktop SSHD 2 To
I would to know if I made mistake(s) about this configuration if experienced AE users have suggestions for me ?
    Notable relating to:
    -1- 32 or 64 GO RAM
    -2- GPU choice
    -3- CPU choice:
-4- I planned to buy two SDD (Samsung 840 Pro 512 Go): one ofr the OS and one for the current project and the AE cache. Is it useful ?
Could I buy only one SSD (for the OS AND for the current project and the AE cache) ?
I would be happy to get your suggestions or user experience about this configuration. No one ever wants to waste money.
    Cheers
    Yann

Without knowing anything about your work it is impossible to judge these things specifically. Generally I'd say you are hopelessly overdoing it with the GPU. I don't know a single use case that actually uses 4 GB on any graphics card except for games. Most OpenGL plug-ins in AE are limited to 2 GB and while this of course could change in the future, currently I see no realistic scenario to push it beyond that, because in most cases then the plug-ins will simply crash due to bugs or their internal logic not being able to deal with more VRAM. Likewise you will see zero benefit of this in C4D unless you use a GPU third-party renderer like Octane. C4D's OpenGL performance will collapse on itself long before you have filled all the memory with textures... Similarly, I see no advantage of 64GB RAM over 32GB. I do heavy CAD scenes all the time, but still have enough room left on my systems with 24 and 32GB, respectively. AE won't use that much RAM even with all MP settings at full on most projects as well. Having the fastest CPU is another matter and many functions in AE, PS and C4D are of course pur CPU and will work faster on a faster processor. With regards to the cache stuff, scroll down a few posts and make up your mind...
