  • Unable to activate Photoshop CS3

I am trying to activate Photoshop CS3.  It has been some time, but I think my last computer with the program installed suffered a hard drive crash, so I was not able to deactivate the license before it was re-imaged.  When I try to use the activation built into the program, I just get an error that there is no connection (I tried both over our network and with a mi-fi card).  I tried to activate by phone, and I just got a non-specific error that activation failed.
The only options support gave me were chat (which is not available) and the forums.
    Any ideas?

You probably want to move this to the Photoshop forum rather than the Digital Editions one.
Meanwhile, you could try Live Chat and see if they are less unhelful: http://www.adobe.com/support/chat/ivrchat.html

  • How do I re-activate Photoshop CS3

Today, May 21st, 2014, I received a prompt upon launching my Photoshop CS3 that made me a little wary.  I, so says the message, only have 5 days to re-activate my Photoshop before it kicks me off completely even though I have the serial ID, it has been PAID FOR. I put MONEY into this and time and effort. So, in 5 days, I won't be able to access my PS CS3.
Here is a screenshot of it: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p83/black_pearl_photos/PS1_zpse935f0ac.png
It says, in short, "After 5 days you will be unable to use the product if activation has not been successfully restored." And continues, "This product's activation is broken or invalid."
On February, 24, 2014, I activated this software onto my computer (Windows 8) and it has worked flawlessly thus far. Why is it asking me to re-activate?
So, I click "re-activate" like a good girl.
    Screenshot: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p83/black_pearl_photos/PS2_zpse6b25bff.png
It perpetually loads for a good 10-15 minutes each time only to time out and give me a "no connection" error.
    Screenshot: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p83/black_pearl_photos/PS3_zps7a92ada6.png
I am connected to very nice and stable internet and I never have an issue with it, so it can't be my internet.
I went to customer service and spoke with some "Helper" who's name started with "Muc-" and I can't recall the rest. They gave me 3 simple steps.
Step 1- Disconnect from the Internet (so when you launch PS, it will not connect)
    Step 2- Open Photoshop.
    Step 3- Click "never register"
The only issue with this, when I tried it, is as you can see from the screenshot, there is no "never register" option and it just doesn't quite fit the description of my problem. So, after fiddling around with a few options, I went back to Customer Service and spoke with "Sanjay". He told me that Windows 8.1 does not work with CS3 even though, for me, for the last 3 months, it has been working flawlessly until this really wonky "re-activation" request.  He immediately pushed the Forums for user-based help, and wouldn't talk to me about anything. Kept shoving the Forums down my throat. And also told me to spend money by upgrading to creative-cloud. I'm not made of money here. There's a reason I am trying to stick with my CS3 because, I already paid for it. it's been paid for. I don't need to worry about subscription fees or extra bills. I have enough on my plate. So, finally, fed up, I go to the user base and just search for similar issues. I see users with similar issues, but no responses to help mediate the issue.  So, I go BACK to customer service.
I am connected to "Rachana" and this "helper" starts off with the same, Serial ID, basic questions, so on and so forth. And then promptly tells me that The Customer Service System no longer supports CS3 customer service. If CS3 is still downloadable, somewhere on the Adobe.com website, should the support that goes along with it still continue considering people still use it? And pushed me BACK to the forums. So. There is my issue, my frustration, and all that good stuff.
    How. Can. I. Fix. This.

The CS2 activation servers are off-line permanently. See the page below:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l
Follow the instructions carefuly to download the new software file(s) from that page. Use the activation code from that page, not your old key, to activate the software.

  • Cannot Activate Photoshop CS3 Extended???

    Hi,
I cannot activate my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended, after coming across a previous thread regarding this issue (Re: CS3 Retail Box. Key Won't Work) I contacted support but after 3 representatives they all claim to not be able to validate the keys (despite one still being in use on my wife's laptop!). I just want to deactivate the keys from the previous 2 PCs so I can install them on my newer machines, my old pc has been formatted without deactivation so I cannot do it myself and I am scared to deactivate the other copy as It seems I will not receive any support in reactivating it.
Here is a complete conversation with one of the 3 support representatives I have spoken to regarding this issue:
    Thank you for contacting Adobe.
A representative will be with you shortly.
    Thank you for your patience.
While you wait, you can try our community forums where experts are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
You are now chatting with Vijet.
Vijet: Hello. Welcome to Adobe Technical Support.
mike stripling: Hi, I have here 2 keys for Adobe Photoshop CS3 extended edition which are telling me there is too many activations on them
Vijet: Hi Mike,In order to assist you in a better way can i have your Name your Email id and your Phone number please.
mike stripling: one of them was on a pc which has been formatted without deactivation and the other is on my wife's laptop which also needs deactivation as that will be formatted soon
mike stripling: Mike Stripling, [email protected] and I'm not sure which phone number it would be under
mike stripling: (it was registered 7 years ago)
mike stripling: I have spoken to two previous representatives who claim my keys are not valid yet after downloading cs3 from your website instead of installing from a disc it says for both keys that there are too many pcs using them at the moment
Vijet: Can you please provide me with the Serial Number for your Photoshop CS 3
    mike stripling: [removed] & [removed]
mike stripling: Your previous representatives claimed this did not show on their system
mike stripling: but when I put it in photoshop it claims there are too many pcs using those keys
mike stripling: I can screenshot this if necessary
Vijet: Sorry to say Mike but the Serial Number you are giving me are invalid one's.
mike stripling: No they are not.
mike stripling: Why else would I get a big green tick and a page showing 'too many activations'
Vijet: Please allow me a moment while I look into your account and see why are you having this issue.
    mike stripling: Ok.
mike stripling: I also found this support thread with your adobe staff responses on this issue which may be relevant: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1491813
mike stripling: "CS3 can not be activated any more as it is end of life product, you can contact Adobe Support at Adobe - Contact Support – Download and Installation to know how to proceed for it & know about the options if there are any. Regards Rajshree"
Vijet: The serial number you are giving me are not the valid one,i have looked into my resources.
    mike stripling: https://i.imgur.com/GRdHQmc.png
mike stripling: then why do I get this?
Vijet: May be Mike the Photoshop we are talking about is CS 2 not CS 3?
mike stripling: the screenshot I just linked is cs3 and the disc with the serial numbers, box etc all says adobe photoshop cs3 extended
Vijet: Because end of life of the product you are saying it's for CS 2 products not for the CS 3.
mike stripling: your staff post says cs3 as well
mike stripling: clearly stated in this thread https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1491813
Vijet: Allow me a minute let me look into it.
Vijet: From where did you purchased it?
mike stripling: It was years ago, but I believe amazon or something
mike stripling: I don't have the purchase order saved, who would save that for 7 years? :S
Vijet: Sorry to say Mike i wont be able to help you with this.

i am not an adobe employe and not an adobe spokesperson.
but my guess is it appears to adobe as if those keys have been 'hacked'.  ie, published somewhere publically, used by others and are now blacklisted.

  • How to reinstall Photoshop CS3 with external hard drive?

I have C3 Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. on my iMac. Is there a way to put it on my external drive and put in back on my iMac? (This is if I have to reinstall the OS.) Would it ask for a serial number again?
Also, is there a way to verify the serial number of the program? I have a number written but I'm not sure if that's it.
    Thank you!

An Archive and Install should preserve third party software, but I've heard Adobe can be tricky.
As for putting it on an external and then moving it back, Adobe CS is known to be very fussy about getting moved. It might think you are trying to install it on another computer and prevent you from moving it to the external and then back. But anyway, since it has files all over the place, I don't think it's as simple as moving the application over. You will probably need to do a clone -- a clone will bring everything over -- which might get around the license issue, and then reverse clone from the external back to the Mac. But on the CCC Forum, I have read that some people have had problems cloning Adobe, not sure which version though.
If you have the CS3 Install Disc, then you might just want to de-activate it first and then reinstall once you've done the system reinstall.
One excellent cloning program is Carbon Copy Cloner
    http://www.bombich.com/
And, if needed (according to this, you are allowed to install it on two computers, so maybe it isn't necessary to deactivate it first. Then, again by deactivating, you would preserve the option to install it on another computer):

  • How to activate Photoshop CS 5 without an internet connection?

I have had my second activation of Photoshop CS 5 on a backup computer that has no internet connection.  I needed to change the operating system (Windows 7 Home to Windows 7 Professional).  I called up Adobe, and told the technician that I was de-activating CS 5, reformatting the hard drive, then I was going to re-activate Photoshop. He gave me a case number so that the next technician could easily understand what I was doing and what I needed.
The first time I installed Photoshop on this backup computer, I contacted Customer Service. The technician had me do several things to get to an activation screen.  I gave him both the serial number and an installation code.  He then used them to generate a unique activation code, which I typed in to activate Photoshop.  I had Photoshop on that computer, working, for a year.
I called on August 30, after the re-formatting and installing the new operating system, I called Customer Service to get help re-activating Photoshop.
The first technician said I could not reactivate Photoshop.
The second technician said it could be done, but not at his level and he would escalate the case, and someone would call me.
After no calls, I tried again on 09/05. I was transferred to the manager.  He said it could not be done, but he would escalate the case to the "expert team," and that someone from that team would call me "tomorrow" (09/06).
Along the way, one technician said I did not need to reactivate Photoshop because when I called about deactivating Photoshop, that technician assigned a special number that would obviate the need to reactivate. How did my computer, off-line, and my software, on a proprietary disk, know that number?  Magic?  No, not magic, it just would!
Unless something has changed and I do not have to activate Photoshop on computers that are off-line, I need to activate Photoshop.
How do I get help after 12 days of trying?
    Walton

Thank you . . . I do not get an option for Offline Activation.  When I did this a year ago, the Customer Support technician gave me a keyboard shortcut that got me to a screen where a response or installation code was generated.  Then he gave me the activation code.  I have no problem going on-line and entering a installation code and getting an activation code . . . I just cannot get to the screen where I can get the initial code.
Despite having now 3 case numbers related to this, each Customer Support technician starts at the beginning, only to discover 30 minutes to 3 hours later that he/she does not wherewithal to do this and must escalate the case.  In the 2 weeks, no one has called me.  I wait the appropriate 24 - 48 hours (yes, not counting weekends or holidays), and the next technician starts it all over.

Since I have no need for CS3 any longer I went to uninstall it and cant located the uninstaller in the Adobe Installer folder. The only option is for CS4.
I know I had both options avail as I saw them in the folder 3 weeks ago but just didn't have time to do it then.

  • HOW TO ACTIVATE PHOTOSHOP CS6 MAC (CD EDITION) ?

so I've bought a Mac Version of Adobe Photoshop cs6 but can't active it

how do i activate a cd version through live

Hi Station, and Merry Christmas. I somehow don't expect him to know the fine points (CD 600 MB/DVD 4.7GB typical), but to get the optical media out of the equation, I just got him over to the downloadable installer.
If his serial is valid, it's a go and he is in business.
If not and the serial number fails, he gets his money back (maybe) and learns about counterfeits.

You won't be able to activate CS, but as an owner of CS you do get a copy of CS2.

  • How to activate photoshop elements

I bought photoshop elements for my wife in December, and NOW it says the trial has expired. I am searching help for how to enter the serial and haven't found it. I see someone else has the same problem, but no answer.

I did check the help menu in the organizer, not the editor and found nothing. However, when I accessed the editor from the welcome screen (previously I had only tried to access the organizer), I was asked for my adobe credentials (not the serial). When these were entered, everything was OK. The credential entry screen stated that these credentials are stored.
I noticed the following when going through this time-consuming process:
1.After Adobe recently had their servers hacked and credentials (including mine) stolen, I changed my password to a completely random, long, high entropy password with the largest possible character set. Changing my password waslikely the source of my problem - if the credentials change, of course they would have to be re-entered. But the point I want to make is that the Adobe's credential input screen does not allow pasting the password. Imagine trying to type a very long password made up of upper and lower case, numbers, and special characters. Of course what you type is obscured with asterisks. A challenge indeed.
    2. I talked to Adobe's support via chat. The Adobe representative had no idea how to help, and appeared not to understand the problem. He finally suggested I re-install Elemenets. Glad I did not follow the advice.
The lesson learned is that the credentials are managed by the editor, not the organizer. Thanks for your suggestion. Had I not already found the solution, your suggestion would likely have helped. My wife uses elements more for the organizer than the editor, so by habit that is where I looked first. Don't ask me why Adobe doesn't provide a mechanism for resetting credentials in the organizer, or even more sensibly, the welcome screen that is complaining that the trial is over.
