How to activate sketch in filter gallery?

The sketch section in my Filter Gallery are grayed out. Please provide me with the steps to activate it again. Thanks. x

Which version of Photoshop?  What sort of image file are you working on?  What does it say if you go Menus > Image > Mode?  If it is in 32bit for instance, then a lot of your filters won't work.
Have you tried opening an RGB photograph and looking for your filters?  If you are using Photoshop CC, look in Preferences > Plugins, and make sure 'Show all filter gallery goups and names' is checked.

  • Photoshop CC Sketch Filter Gallery's whiting out - help!

In my filter gallery sketch settings, only chalk & charcoal, conte crayon, note paper and water paper seem to be working. With any other of the sketch gallery filters the entire image becomes a plain white background. Anyone have any idea what/why is happening?

Reset your foreground and background colors.
Those filters use your foreground and background colors, and if both colors are the same - the result won't be too interesting.

  • Why do some of the filters in the Filter Gallery turn my image orange?

I've been trying to use some of the filters in the Filter Gallery, but most of the filters in the Sketch category inexplicably turn whatever image I'm working with orange. I've tried this with several images, and got the same results. They all give me an image which looks like this:
    http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll197/ASAPFergz/PhotoshopBug_zpsbnlramfa.png
I may be new to Photoshop, but I don't think that's how it's meant to look ...
Any ideas on what's causing this? Thanks.

Many of the Filter Gallery filters use the foreground and background colors for their effect -- and you have one of those set to orange, and the other set to dark red.

  • Can't get to filter gallery

filter gallery is greyed out, how do I activate it?

    Thank You !!
Same problem and yes I needed to change from 16 bit to 8 bit, then everything worked.
The next question, why doesn't 16 bit profile work with Filter Gallery ?

  • Should the "filter gallery" filters be displayed in CS5 64 bit filter menu?

I would swear I had the "filter gallery" filters available (artistic, brush strokes, sketch...) from CS5 64 bit. But tonight I realised I can only see them in CS5 32 bit, not in the 64 bit version. Is this normal?
Please note I'm *not* talking about them being grayed out due to the image being in 16 bit. It's just that they do not appear on the menu as they do in the 32 bit version. I've tried copying the filter gallery.8bf file from 32 version folder to 64 one, but it doesn't work.
This is how my filter menu looks on each CS5 version (32 bit/64 bit):
    Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I was pretty sure they should be there, but since I don't use them often, I was in doubt.
I can't think of anything I did to remove the filter gallery - I'm really intrigued about how could it disappear (?). I supposed the 32 and 64 bit version of the 8bf file would be different, but wanted to give it a try just in case...
After wasting some time trying to find the 64 bit "filter gallery.8bf" online, I've decided to just reinstall CS5 and yes, just as you say, now the filters are there. It's a good thing that reinstalling CS5 somehow keeps intact your preferences, workspace and 3rd party plugins! I just had to run the Adobe updater and everything's back to normal.
Thanks for confirming this was an issue! Have a great day.

  • Sketch in filter

Hi. I just bought PS CS 6. Starting out with some guides on youtube. I see that many people have more options in filter then me.
Like: Sketch, texture, artistic, brush strokes.
How can I get this options aswell? Do i have to pay extra for them?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
It's all still there, just hidden and you can also get the same filters by going to Filter>Filter Gallery or by doing this if you prefer to see the menu items.

  • How do I apply a filter to an entire video clip?

I'm trying to find out how to apply a filter, e.g. Oil Painting, to an entire video clip and not just one frame.
Been trying to work with keyframes but it wont happen - all I get when applying a filter from the Filter Gallery
is a filter applied to just one frame (not even a second of the video clip i.e.).
So, the question is: is it even possible to apply a filter from the gallery to an antire video clip? If so, how?
    Thank you very much!

Tried it, works like a charm!
    Thank you!

  • Filter Gallery in CS5 diasabled

Filter Gallery as well as some other contents (such as Artistic) are greyed out in CS5. How do I enable it?

What color mode is your document?
Those filters work best if your color mode is RGB color and 8 bits/channel: Image>Mode.

  • Filter Gallery Problems

1 - Distort: Diffuse Glow, with Graininess = 1, Glow Amount = 8, Clear Amount = 11.  Image  is almost all lime green.  Only the figu
re in the image is not green.
2 - Sketch: Stamp, with Light/Dark Balance = 1, Smoothness = 2.  Almost all lime green.  Some portions of image light  bluish grey.
3 - Sketch: Note Paper, with Image Balance = 26, Graininess = 10, Relief = 8.  Image almost all lime green.. Some portions of image
    dark bluish grey.
    This are the settings used:-
    1 - Filter/Filter Gallery/Distort/Diffuse Glow/Graininess =1/Glow Amount = 8/Clear Amount = 11
I have reinstalled my PSE and tried again, with the same results.
I have used other filter settings that worked fine.
    Photoshop Elements 8
    Browser: Microsoft IE
    Operating System: Windows 7

All of the filters you mention are based on the colors you have set in your tool box.
The reason Diffuse glow is giving off that lime tint color is because the background color swatch in your tool box is set to that shade of green. The diffuse color tint is based on the color of the color chip you have set as the background color in your tool box. If you want the default white glow change the background color swatch in your tool box to white.
The other filters you mention are based on which colors you have set as the foreground color and background color in the tool box. You currently have a blue-gray color set as your foreground color in the toolbox.  Change  the color chips in your tool box to black and white if you want the default effect.
To get the default color effect, reset your color chips in your tool box to black (foreground) and white (background). The shortcut is to press D.
