How to activate the new fields on material master(MM01/MM02/MM03) for existing Materials

Hi,
We have a requirement to add some custom fields as a new tab in additional data option(Descriptions, Unit of measure, etc.) in Basic data of Material master (MM01/MM02/MM03). I have successfully added and these custom fields and they are not part of standard(MARA, MARC) but a custom table and the updates are also done in custom table.
For new materials, I can see the new tab in additional data screens of basic data view and I could successfully create/change/display using MM01/MM02/MM03. However I cannot see the new tab/fields for existing materials in the system in all 3 tcodes (MM01/MM02/MM03). This is not a main view in material master so that I can extend it by MM01.
Is there any setting or mass generation program I have top perform so that I can see and maintain these new fields for existing materials. Appreciate any leads or help on this.

Goto t.code SPRO ---> Display IMG ---> Logistics - General --> Material master --> Configuring the material master --> Create program for customized screens
Use the above path and create the screen and assign it to the sequence using the below link as reference.

open TNAPR table and give the output type you need to modify.... get the print program name and check if some structure already have the date you wanted... if you have it already... then open the form in SE71 tr. and provide the strcuture name - feild in the position you want to have the date...

How to populate the new field of R/3 in BW

Hi,
There was a requirement to modify the sap screen in the R/3.
For the same a new field is created which populate the data via a table in R/3.
Now I have to populate the same field in BW. I am working on 3.5 Version.
In R/3 I have a data source and I am not able to see the same available in the data source
The field is available in the extract structure but I am unable to populate the same in the data source.
Kindly help.

The Data Source is picked from the FM.
Also,my requirement is to display the text values for the new field
I am going to create a Generic Master Data which will fetch the data from the table which has fields (Code, Langu and the text) and replicate the same to BW.
Now to populate the code in BW, I need to have the field in the data source and from there I can add the same code field in the bw comm/tran/etc...
The code is available in the Extraction and not in the data source.
At the reporting level I will extract the report based on key and text.
I tried using ROOSFIELD to populate the field in the datasource, but I am not able to do the same.

How to include the new fields added in R/3 into ESS application

I have used Standred ESS application.After Importing the ESS application via bapi(Import the model),they have added some more additional fields in R/3 Backend. How to call those customized fields in our ESS application?

There is no specific document/book for the steps i told you....but i can list them as:
1) Goto the Models component in the Webdynpro ...right click -> create new model.
2) Specify the name of the Model as you like ....the RFC destinations...next.
3) Specify the userid and password with RFC authorization in ECC
4) Specify the name of the Function Module you want to import....and Import.
5) Goto the Fc component -> Used Models section and add the model created earlier here..
6) Goto the Fc Component -> Context Tab -> create new model nodes and attributes ...and bind them to Structure fields of the Function Module...
7) Goto the Fc Component -> Interface Controller -> create nodes and attributes ...and bind them to the attributes created earlier
8) Goto the Vc Component-> Context Tab -> create new context nodes and attributes....and bind them to the attributes in the Interface controller....make sure the Fc componentis added as a Used component in Vc.
9)Finally create UI Elements on the Detail or Review view and bind the text property of the element to the attributes created in the Vc component.

i hv transported both to production server. but it is not working in production. how to identify the problem in production. I don't whether we hv to activate the same in production or not.

just check wether the project is active or not
if not try to re transport from development may be u might have missed something
u can activate in prodcution if u have authorizations but try to transpoort from developmetn once again

How to change the current period in material master

hi everybody,
as i have installed sap 4.7 ides version on my home pc for practice , but hwenver i am creating the new material master in the system , i observe that in accounting1 tab the current period is 12 2002 , how should i change the current posting period so that i can start the transaction in current uear 2009 and then later i can work in 2010 ....
i have tried the transaction mmrv, mmpv, mmpi through some resources but i didnt know how to do the settings in the system in IMG (SPRO) kindly help me through , i have wasted lot of time in this..
i hope MM team will help me out of this...

Hi,
Check in OMSY Transaction that, Which current month and year is having your comapny code.
and go to T.Code MMPV
enter Next Month of that cureent period and Year
and Execute. You find the message that your current period has changed.
Do the same process month by month till reaches to current period and year.

How to activate NCM code Field on STO PO(doc type:UB) for Brazil

Dear Gurus,
I,m working on STO PO-Doc type UB for Brazil.On PO item level on the Tab Page Brazil one field should be there with name NCM CODE.That field is disppeared for this doc type UB.For all the other doc types that field is visible.
I have checked the settings related to UB and the field NCM codeScreen field:MEPO1326-J_1BNBM
is mandatory.
Can u kindly inform me how to make the field visible?

Add fields to material Master (MM01)

Hi Experts, after checking OMS2, OMS3, OMS9, OMSA...I still have no idea about how to show some fields in my material master data. They belong to group 103 which is assignet to material type FERT and Basic Data 1. They are setup as "Optional" but they are not shown when I try to create a new material.
I expected to find it easy to solve, as when you modify others screen layouts (p.e. Materials Management> Purchasing>Purchasing Info Record-->Define Screen Layout) but it seems not. Any idea?

You cannot define the field selection for an individual field, however,
the fields are grouped together in field selection groups.(Customizing
'Assign Fields to Field Selection Groups') The input/output attributes
are determined per field selection group.For the specification of the
properties of a field selection group, there are several criteria. They
are called field selection references.Not only one criterion (= field
selection reference) is relevant for the definition of the field
selection attributes but SIX criteria are.
Some of the field selection references are hard-coded (for example,
transaction) others can be defined (for example, plant, material
type...).In the following, the six field selection references are listed
and also the transactions in which they can be defined.
1. Transaction (MM01, MM02 ....)
2. Industry sector (you can assign the field selection reference to the
    industry sector by using Transaction OMS3)
3. Material type (You can assign in field FELDREFERENZ by using
    Transaction OMS2.The name of the material type is not automatically
    the field selection reference but it depends on what is on field
    FELDREFERENZ in Transaction OMS2.If the field is empty, there is no
    specific settings for this material type.)
4. Plant (you can assign the reference to the plant in Transaction
    OMSA)
5. Procurement-releated field selection references. There are the two
    field references E (internal procurement) and F (external
    procurement). It depends on the settings in Customizing for the
    corresponding material type under 'Internal/external purchase
    orders' whether one or which one of the field references is used. If
    internal purchase orders are allowed (setting 1 or 2) and external
    orders are forbidden (setting 0), the field selection uses E. If
    external purchase orders are allowed (setting 1 or 2) and internal
    orders are forbidden (setting 0), the field selection uses F. When
    both internal and external purchase orders are allowed, the field
    selection uses neither E nor F.
6. Customer-specific field reference KB (customer-specific
    requirements)
Since a field can have only one attribute at the end (display = '*',
change = '.', hide = '-', required entry = '+') a property must be
determined from these six criteria.You do this by prioritizing the
above-mentioned properties:
The hide function has a greater effect than the display function.The
display function has a greater effect than the required entry function
and the change/ready for input function has the least effect.
If for one of the six mentioned field selection references 'Hide' is
set for the relevant field selection group, all fields which were
assigned to this field selection group are hidden, no matter how the
attributes were set in the other five field selection
references.Therefore, you must always check all six field selection
references.It is not sufficient just to look at one field selection
reference.
If you checked this setting and, however, the field does not have the
display attribute required, then it is possible that the attributes of
the field are hard-coded.

Follow the documentation of Logistics - General->Material Master->Configuring the Material Master->Create Program for Customized Subscreens to add the new field in material master.
Create Program for Customized Subscreens
In this IMG activity, you can create a function group of your own by copying function group MGD1 (for industry) or function group MGD2 (for retail). The subscreens are not copied, except for two subscreens which are copied for technical reasons. You can use this copy to create subscreens of your own which you can assign to a data screen in the activity Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence.
Requirements
Be sure to read the program documentation first.
Activities
1. Create a function group of your own by choosing Execute.
2. Enter a name containing up to 25 characters, beginning with the letter Y or Z, and choose Save.
3. Access the Object Navigator.
You do this from the SAP standard menu by choosing Tools -> ABAP Workbench, and then Object Navigator.
4. Display either program SAPLMGD1 (industry) or SAPLMGD2 (retail) as required.
5. Copy the subscreens as required, ensuring that they already contain as many as possible of the field names you want to use in your function group. You do this as follows:
a) Choose Screens, position the cursor on the corresponding subscreen, and choose Copy in the context menu.
b) Enter the program to which you want to copy the subscreen, prefixing it with SAPL, and enter a screen number. Use the screen number of the original subscreen where possible. If the F1 help is specific to a particular subscreen, this ensures that this context-specific help continues to be displayed.
Example
You have called your function group YENTERPRISE, to which you want to copy subscreen SAPLMGD1 2301. Enter SAPLYENTERPRISE as the program to which the subscreen is to be copied, and enter (preferably) 2301 as the screen number.
6. Return to the initial screen of the Object Navigator and display your program. In the example above, you would enter SAPLYENTERPRISE.
7. Choose Update object list.
8. Select the subscreen you have copied and activate it by choosing Activate in the context menu.
Using the Screen Painter, you can remove fields you do not require on the subscreen or include additional fields from other subscreens (see the ABAP Dictionary). For information on the Screen Painter, see the SAP library documentation BC ABAP Workbench Tools.
Points to consider when removing or adding fields
Make sure that a field statement exists for each field on the subscreen since data may not otherwise be transported correctly. You can use subscreen SAPLMGD1 2002 as an example.
For the fields you have added, include any check modules and modules for self-programmed F4 help that are called up for these fields on the original subscreen. You can do this by displaying the flow logic for the original subscreen and searching for such modules. They normally have the same names as the fields themselves. When you find a module, copy the corresponding module call to your subscreen.
If you change the order in which fields are transported that are checked together in the flow logic (such as the safety stock and minimum safety stock), you must deactivate the check module for the first field and activate it for the second. The system would otherwise transport the first field, and carry out the check before the second field is transported.
Any error messages that fields are unknown when activating the subscreen are due to the fields still being included in checks, even though you have removed the fields from the subscreen. Search for the fields in the source code and make the lines in which they appear comment lines. Then reactivate the screen.
9. Assign the subscreen to a data screen as required.
Note on transport
Use the Workbench Organizer to transport the copy you have created.
