How to activate the select tool and enter drawing mode in pages

In pages 5.0 if you want a pure drawing document you have to turn off i.e. unclick Header, Footer, Document Body in the document setup and the arrow tool will replace the text curser tool. When you unclick document body you will get "are you sure" and say yes.
first choose a new blank document
click setup in the upper right corner
and uncheck the document body
and when the dialog box pops up choose remove
to avoid any header and footer issues also uncheck the header and footer
Now you basically have the Apple works old draw environment.

That is not necessary at all.
Just click away from all text and objects then select the Drawing tool from the Shapes icon.
It is actually one the distinct improvements in Pages 5 over Pages '09. Not perfect but a big step forwards.

Hi George,
There are are two types of statuses.One is system status and second one is user status.These statuses will tell us current situation of an order.
We can't change system statuses.But we can create our own statuses through status profile.With this profile we can control user statuses.
In this status profile,
1.We define the sequence in which user statuses can be activated,
2.We define initial statuses
3. Allow or prohibit certain business transactions.
Selection profiles are used to select the objects (say production orders) with different status combinations.We assign status profiles to selection profiles in BS42 T-Code.

How to recover the selection tool?

Acrobat XI. The selection tool (arrow only - not the one that's an arrow with a text-insert cursor next to it) disappeared from the ribbon on my Acrobat. How do I get it back?

How do I go to Tools? I don't see that anywhere. And everything I've tried with the word "Tools" in it doesn't bring up anything that says "Interactive Objects".

how do you activate the windows for song, artist, album in iTunes library? I used to put the cursor over the category, double click on it, then type in the song name, artist name, album, genre etc., but that technique doesn't seem to work now.

How to stop the Selection Tool from selecting effects around objects?

This question is for Illustrator CS5.
I can't seem to figure out how to fix this problem. I vaguely recall finding a solution in CS4, but cannot recall how it was achieved:
Scenario: If I have a number of shapes on top of each other, with, for example, a drop shadow on the top shape, whenever I try and select the shape below it (it is peeking out from beneath the top shape, so I click on this 'peeking' section of the shape to try and select it) I cannot - it just selects the top shape as the top shape's drop shadow is 'blocking' the shape below it. Make sense?
How do I go about about remedying this? I seem to recall being able to tell Illustrator to ignore 'effects' when making selections in CS4, but cannot work out how to do this in CS5. And is there a way to refine the 'sensitivity' or selection radius when clicking to make selections?
Hopefully someone with the knowledge can please advise?

Never heard of ignore effscts for this.
Couple way to solve this
CMD Click on the already selected top element, to select the element underneath.
You may have used the visiblilty eyeball in the appearance pallette to temporarily hide the drop shadow
You can use CMD 3 to hide selected top elements, make the change you need, then Opt CMD 3 to unhide
For #1 to work, don't click too fast, or else your clicks will register as a double click rather than a 2nd clikc (depending on what you have set in you Keyboard preferences).
I mention #3 cause this is a very useful tool for cleaning up and grouping complex documents, when you want to select multiple elements.

Select tool and Tab randomly stop working

When filling in a form in Reader, the select tool and Tab between fields feature sometimes stop working at random. Right clicking the field and then left clicking (not on Paste menu) seems to work to allow writing in the field again. Sometimes this also restores functionality, sometimes it doesn't. This slows things down a lot in a setting where I need to enter data as quickly as possible. Any advice?

How to use the mesh tool

I am not sure how to use the mesh tool

it can be tricky! it's best to use with geometric shapes and not random figures that you create with the pen or brush tools.
so lets say you wanted to make an apple using a real picture for reference. first off, you'd place the picture of the real apple in the background. next, you would choose the circle tool to create a circle around the apple. then, you would use the mesh tool and press the center anchor to create a simple grid looking form onto the circle. grab the selection tool to move around the anchor points surrounding the apple to make a more accurate outline. after this step, it's easier to add more anchor points for the actual apple! all you must do is grab the pen tool and add more anchor points along the path and use the selection tool to move the anchor points around the apple; eventually it'll look somewhat like a 3D graph of an apple. important tip to remember, the less lines the better. but a few are okay.
so after you've graphed/mapped out your apple you're going to want to press the selection tool and use your eyedropper tool to get an accurate color of the spot/anchor you selected. the basic point of the mesh tool is to outline a picture,@ and with the eyedropper tool you can use the exact colors from the original picture you're working from. i learned this technique from class. here's my example it can be a really useful tool if it's what you're looking for.

I no longer get the hallow boxes when I select something with the selection tool.

I'm really frustrated. I use to be able to select an object with the selection tool and the bounding box would have hollow squares on the corners and in the centers of each side. I could use these to transform the object. Now the bounding box appears but the hollow boxes are missing and i have to use the free transform tool, which when I use to lengthen a text box vertically it stretched the text instead of just enlarging the bounding box. I have tried cntrl + shift + B but that does not solve the problem, What am I doing wrong and how on earth can I fix it. Please help.

Two things I can suggest:
1) Under view make sure that the show bounding box is checked.
2) My Illustrator does that sometimes. The bounding box will not have the corners. I just select the artwork then click on the selection tool again and they show up.....I guess its a glitch.

Acrobat: How can I turn off the "smart" feature of the select tool

I am trying to figure out how to turn off the feature of the select tool in Acrobat which auto-completes words of my text selections. This feature is a huge nuisance while trying to select code in my textbooks and has caused me to mis-copy examples many times.

The smartness I am referring to is when I try to select text Acrobat will attempt to automatically select the entire word (I can reverse the whole word selection by selecting back one character then going forward, but when I reach the first character of the next word Acrobat will again try to select the entire word). Worse is when I am trying to select text starting in the middle of a word, Acrobat will automatically select the entire word when I get to the last character.
In another program this option is disabled by a clearing the checkbox "When selecting, automatically select the entire word".
I've found an alternative PDF solution which does not have this nuisance, however, this is not an ideal solution...
