How to add a password to network

5 years ago, I setup a home network. Did not put in any password security because a number of family use this network. Now have "busy" neighbors.
How do I go back and add password security to a network I have already created?
Thanks.

you do that in *airport utility* (applications/utilities). enter +manual setup+ for your extreme and go to airport > wireless.
be sure to choose WPA2 in connection with a long, non-dictionary password made of letters and numbers. also, you should password protect your extreme.

  • How to add wifi password from nm-applet to kdewallet

    Hi.
I would ask you for help. I followed solution on www in order to disable password check-in on every boot by kdewallet. Changed kdewallet password for blank password, then i deleted kdewallet. After that i found that my wifi won't connect. I have to delete wifi network, add new one, enter password each time on every single boot. I want to restore kdewallet with password for wifi so i created new kdewallet but it won't store password from nm-applet, wifi  network.
For the very first time kdewallet asked if i want to store password, the one new created don't ask for this, so i thinkl it is why he won't store password. Is there a way to fix it in order kdewallet to store password for wifi, like the first one, that opened on every boot? I don't wan't to delete my wifi network, create it again in order to connect.
    Help.

Thank you for answer. Yes, i did that. I deleted wallet from kde4 but result is the same. I create new one, but there is no question for storing password there (example: when using wifi that is password protected i have to enter password, no question if i would like to store it)
Sorry forum bumping. Won't happen again.

  • How to add a second wireless network in my house..

    Hello,
I have Verizon FIOS with the supplied Actiontec wireless modem/router M1424WR. This current setup works perfectly and has since I got it about 5 months ago.
Note that all of my computers connect wirelessly.
Here is what I would like to do and why:
I have some weak reception spots upstairs (the Actiontec is located downstairs). I want to run cat5 from the Actiontec to an upstairs location and plug it into a WRT54G I just bought for this purpose. I want to have this upstairs WRT54G have it's own SSID so that I have two separate networks. I have no need for devices on the two networks to be able to communicate with each other.
There is another reason I think I need the separate network; the Actiontec M1424WR has a known problem connecting with Xbox 360 wireless adapters. It can not connect to them with the current firmware. They are working on correcting it, but it may be a while and by installing an Xbox compatible wireless router (the WRT54G) upstairs, I am fixing two problems at once, the Xbox issue and the weak signal areas.
I am not too experienced in this stuff, and it is my guess that extending my wireless network upstairs with the same SSID as the downstairs router would not work because the Xbox adapters can't connect to the downstairs located Actiontec.
If anyone can tell me if my plan will work and tell me how to configure the router settings, it would be much appreciated. I am familiar with accessing and changing the router settings, I just don't know what settings to use!
I am willing to change gears and buy something different if necessary.
    Thank you,
    Alan
Edit: I know that I could use other wireless adapters on the Xboxes, but I really like the units made specifically for the 360's and want to stick with them.
Another thought I had was to buy another WRT54G and place it next to the Actiontec downstairs and set up a roaming network using just the two WRT54G's. This way the Xboxes could connect throughout the network range. Again, I just don't know how to configure the devices.

It all works, and quite well at that. I decided on the WRT54G to be wired to the M1424WR downstairs. I bought a WAP54G and cabled it up to the M1424WR as well. The WAP went into an upstairs closet.
My laptop and PC's worked perfectly. I checked former dead spots and they were gone. I unplugged the WRT and the WAP one at a time and sure enough, the computers stayed connected.
I struggled with the "Moderate NAT" problem for quite a while. The trick to get the "Open NAT" out of the M1424WR is to check the "Allow Other Network Users to Control Wireless Broadband Router's Network Features" box.
Our two 360's connect to Xbox live perfectly, every time. We played "system link" connected H3 through the home network; my son in one room and me in another. He played H3 on Xbox Live a lot.
We can not even see a perceptible difference in Halo3 performance on our new and improved wireless roaming network vs. wired. I get all green bars in every room in the house. I didn't even know about the ability for the 360 to access a PC on your network. I was playing music on my upstairs TV from my downstairs PC.
Needless to say, it all works thanks to your help, gv!
I do have one more question; since the M1424WR regretably must remain my main router due to it's proprietary television functions, I have to use it's webpage to check connection status, etc. Why does everything connected on my network show up there except the WAP54G? Wireless devices connecting through the WAP54G do show up, just not the WAP. The WRT does show up.
    Thank you,
    Alan

    I get this error:
    "cn=config": suffix does not exist.
The "import" operation failed on "localhost:1389".
    Thx for any help,
    CC

Good it did not work or you would have overwritten all the data currently in cn=config. Anyway, "dsconf import" only works on regular backends. The cn=config tree is special a.
You should use ldapmodify to add the contents to cn=config.
    $ ldapmodify -p 1389 -D cn=root -f a.ldif -a

I wanted to tether via USB, but it was red before, and then I deleted it at all iTunes sees it and syncing is working, but I can't tether now. I've got iTunes 11.1.2 and newest iOS for iPhone 5S.

  • How do I add a password to an existing Computer-to-Computer (ad-hoc) network?

I have just created a computer-to-computer (ad-hoc) network but accidently missed the step to add a password to restrict access to the network.  I cannot see any options to edit or manually manage the 'device' network.
How do I add a password or delete the network?

Use AirPort Admin Utility to enable wireless encryption on the one called "Main". Use WPA2 or WPA (with a non-dictionary password) if all of your equipment supports it.
Configure the 2nd AirPort Express (AX) [formerly "Remote"] to join the wireless network provided by the first one. Follow the directions in KB 302153, AirPort Express: How to join an existing wireless network in client mode.

    Hey art4750,
Go to ''Tools >Options >Security'' tab. First I would check to be sure that you haven't set paypal as an exception to not remember your password.
There is a lot of useful information in this article about the [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/make-firefox-remember-usernames-and-passwords?s=password+manager&r=1&as=s Firefox Password Manager]. It should answer any other questions you might have.
You can also remove the cookies from that site to make the site forget you if you've created a remember me cookie by going to ''Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies" ''
    Hopefully this helps!

Ah, it looks like I should have read your title more carefully. Are the  files on the PCs that you want to share with your iMac in a shared folder?
If not, follow the steps on this page to set up shares from Windows 7.
If that is already set up, connect to the share from the iMac using this article.

  • Step by step on how to add tc to existing netgear wireless network please

    Hi,
Please can someone give me a step by step on how to achieve a working wireless network with a netgear DGN2000 router providing the network, my TC available for back ups / itunes library & an airport express to connect a usb printer into the network?
    Currently have following:
ADSL Internet connection into Netgear DGN2000 Wireless N Router/Modem
    TC
    Airport Express
    Macbook Pro (running Lion)
    iPad (running OS5)
    iPhone (running OS5)
    Windows 7 laptop (personal)
Windows XP laptop (work - so locked down on installing new software)
    USB Printer
I did have it set up but think went a bit wrong and used TC as creating wireless network - and could no longer use work laptop over VPN - so have reverted back to netgear only.
Please could someone give me / point me towards a blonde friendly step by step on how to set up my network so everyone is happy?!
    Thank you!!

Suggest that you start by configuring hte AirPort Express to "join" the wireless network that is being provided by the Netgear router.
In order to do this, you must provide the AirPort Express with the exact information that it needs to be able to join the network. This includes:
    Name of the wireless network
Exact type of wireless security that the router is using
    Password for the wireless network
I'm sure that you know the name of the wireless network and the password, but do you know the exact type of wireless security setting that the Netgear router is using? You may need to get into the configuration pages for this information.
Hopefully, it will be WPA2 Personal, or WPA/WPA2 Personal, which the AirPort Express can match. If you see something like WPA-PSK-TKIP or WPA-PSK-AES, then things get more complicated, likely requiring some trail and error.
Once you have the wireless security settings in hand, you are ready to follow Apple's step by step setup for the AirPort Express using the AirPort Utility application on your Mac.
When you have the Express configured, you will already know how to setup the TC, since it will be configured exactly the same way with the same information.
This assumes that you want the TC to connect using wireless only.
It would be much easier to setup the TC to connect to the Netgear router using an Ethernet cable. You will be able to backup to the TC using the Netgear wireless network. Can you consider that option?

  • How to add an icon to a node in network graphics?

    Hi all,
Do you know how to add an icon (any SAP' icon) to a node in network graphics?
Just like a tree can have a leaf with icon (for example, a person icon, a plant icon), can a node in network graphics have an icon also?  and how to implement in network graphics?
      I already studied t-code gral: NETZOCX1
    NETZOCX2
    NETZ_BO1
    NETZ_BO2
    NETZ_BO3
    But no actual output.
It seems using node type in network graphics can help to determine different icons, could you give some suggestion or examples?
    Thanks a lot!!

    Hi,
Thanks for you link about SAP Graphics Framework. It seems not very useful in our case.
Since we are using Control Framework now, there is Tree and Networks in it. Can a node in a network have an icon (such as person icon, plant icon)? I know a leaf in a tree in Control Framework can have an icon.
      Anybody has comments or suggestion?
      Thanks!

  • I currently have a D-Link DI-604 broadband router with windows computers.  How can I add wifi to the network for use with ipad?  Can I use AirPort Express?

I currently have a D-Link DI-604 broadband router with windows computers.  How can I add wifi to the network for use with ipad?  Can I use AirPort Express?

Yes. You can directly connect an 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn) using an Ethernet cable. The AXn would then just need to be configured as a bridge to allow the D-Link to continue to provide both NAT & DHCP services for all network clients connected to either router.
In this configuration, the AXn would broadcast a wireless network for your wireless network clients to connect to.
