How to add an e-mail address from a message into a chosen address-book?

I have no use for "Personal Address Book": I imported my e-mail addresses from my Eudora address-books. As it is, it is quite cumbersome to add that address to the address-book that I want. In Eudora this was easy

If you are talking about an address in a received mail the easy way to do it is to click the star to the right of the senders email as it displays in the Message Pane or Tab header.
If the sender is not in one of your address books the star is not filled with color. Clicking the empty star will add it to the default Personal Address Book and fill the star with color.
Clicking a filled star will open the contact edit dialog box and there is a drop down list of address books so you can move it.
This is NOT the same star that shows to the left of a message header in the Inbox window.
You can also drag and drop contacts between address books easily.

  • How to add multiple e-mail addresses into my iPad Contacts?

I just received an e-mail with 40 addresses in the distribution list. Now I want to add all of the addresses into my iPad Contacts. How can I do this in one operation rather doing each of the 40 addresses individually?

Unfortunately you can't add all at once. But you save a lot of time by the copy/paste method (double-tap at a mail address, tap "copy", go to the "Contacts" app, enter the contact you want to paste the address in, tap "Mail address", then double tap again and tap "paste").

  • How to transfer my Netscape mail address book info to my OSX Address Book?

I may have to contact Netscape about this one but thought I would give it a shot here.
I am on a new G5 where all my old Netscape mail was brought over from my G3 via an Ethernet cable and is now living where it should in its place within the Netscape 4.77 mail program which I can access by running Classic OS9 mode.
I would like to import my address book information instead of having to cut and paste hundreds of addresses manually. The Apple mail program doesn't have its own address book (which I wish it did) but uses the Address book application, as you all know. Ideally I would want the addresses right there in mail but that doesn't seem to be how OSX works.
The only other thing I could do I suppose is download another web mail browswer, like Eudora or the equivalent, which maybe would have an import feature. I tried downloading Netscape for OSX but it didn't even have a place where I could drag and drop my mail folders - that I could see - let alone import my addresses from where they live in the System 9 folder.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

I have had a look around on Version Tracker to see if anything might help you
and have come up with this
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19382
    Product Description:
This is a tool for fixing LDIF files exported from Netscape Communicator 4.x. When Netscape Communicator exports LDIF files, it doesn't handle hard line breaks within the notes section properly. This causes the files to not be imported properly by Address Book. This program fixes that.
    Product Requirements:
    • Mac OS 8 - 9.2.2, or
    • Mac OS X 10.0 or higher including Panther
This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:
    • Mac OS Classic
    • Mac OS X 10.0
    • Mac OS X 10.1
    • Mac OS X 10.2
    • Mac OS X 10.3
As you have Classic / 9.2.2 ? I thought it might possibly help

  • How do I merge my Mail data from two Macs into one?

One is Lion and the other is Mountain Lion, both 27" iMacs. I have saved the Mail data from the Lion one and will reformat its HDD for a clean install of Mountain Lion.  Then I plan to import a (CCC) clone of my newer iMac.  I need to merge the mail because some mail items are missing on the clone that existed on the erased iMac.

Copy or move the song files from one account to a shared location and then drag them into the open iTunes window when logged into the other account.

  • How to add ocr pdf to address book quickly

I have many printed sheets of contacts that I need to import to address book. Other than manually typing or through the magic of ocr (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Optical_character_recognition) then copying and pasting to address book, is there an easy way to input these contacts?
I've found world card mobile ( http://worldcard.penpowerinc.com/product.asp?sn=158) on the iphone where I can take photo's of the contacts and the apps ocr will correctly put about 80% of the proper information in but the phone runs out of batteries and it's about the same time as copying and pasting.
I'm wondering is there a computer version of world card that would at least put the information in the right spot and I can make just minor adjustments. Or is there a way that I can make the pdf in to an excel or numbers format and the use one of those excel to vcard apps to do it all in one shot? it's a lot of contacts, over 10k.
    thanks ahead for any response.

  • How do i add people to my address book/Mail?( ...i have a new imac...)

hi .... i have a new imac and i want to add people to my mail/address book like i use to with my old pc (HP) computer by right clicking "add person to address book" ...but how do i do this with my mac ? ..i know the answer will be quite simple but please don't laugh.....i am just learning about the mac world and i love it.....

On the "Mighty Mouse" (which IMHO is far far from it) you just left and right click exactly the same as you would on any other mouse. It's just that Apple considers the buttons untidy and so has used touch sensitive pads instead. Read more here.
I'm struggling to understand your issues with Address Book. Within Address Book: to add a new person type Apple N (⌘ n) or click the + symbol at the bottom left of the contact pane.
Within Mail: Type a new address in to the To or Cc space then send/save the email. Next time you look at this message there will be a blue shade behind it and a little arrow. Click the arrow and choose Add to Address Book.
I suppose the gripe here is that within Mail you are presented a cut down Address Panel rather than the full blown Address Book application. Why not leave your views for Apple here after noting your issue I agree and so have duly whinged to Apple in this way myself.
    kind regards

How can I add an e-mail address to my existing icloud account?  I curently only use one of the three.

Each iCloud account only has a single iCloud account.  If you want, you can add up to 3 alias addresses that will receive email in the same iCloud inbox, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.

  • How do I automatically or manually add incoming e-mail addresses to my address book?

How do I automatically or manually add incoming e-mail addresses to my address book?

Automatically? Really?? All addresses of all senders just sucked into the address book, spammers, advertisers and all?
Where an address appears in the panel above the message text, there is a star alongside it. Click this star to add the address to your Address Book. Once you have done that, you can click the star again to edit the address book entry.
Note that if the star is empty/grey (silver?) the contact is unknown. If the star is filled/yellow (gold?), the Contact is already in your address book. (This is very like the way bookmarks are managed in Firefox.)
If you really want all senders' addresses entered indiscriminately into your address book, this add-on may be of interest.

if it's a message coming from your yahoo account, it means that your account has been compromised, not your phone itself. i would suggest changing the password for your email account

  • How do I create a separate Address Book? I'm not asking about a mailing list but an address book where the addresses are not mixed in with my regular address b

How do I create a separate Address Book? I'm not asking about a mailing list but an address book where the addresses are not mixed in with my regular address book. I already have three address books created for me by Thunderbird. I add all new addresses to one of those but am afraid to delete the other address books because some of their addresses are not repeated in my "main" address book. So if I don't delete all the names in one of the existing books, I need to create an empty book that will not mix the addresses with those in another address book. HOW DO I CREATE A NEW, EMPTY ADDRESS BOOK? I want to be able to create various mailing LISTS using the addresses in this new book so I will eventually have a special address book with a variety of mailing lists I can use as I wish.

In 24.4.0 there is no File|New|Address Book. There is File|New|Address Book Contact. How do I create a new address book ?

In Lion, the user's LIBRARY folder is hidden. So, it's not visible automatically.
    Open Finder.
At the menu items at the top of your screen, click on GO (where you see Finder, File, Edit, View, Go, Help)
Next within the GO options, select the 'Go to Folder' option. You will see a window open to enter text.
Enter ~/Library and click the GO button.
Now you'll be in your user LIBRARY where you need to be to get to your address book file previously mentioned.
You want to open the Application Support folder then from inside there open the AddressBook folder. Then you can follow Barney's instructions.

  • How can I import my .mac address book from online to my computer?

My macbook was stolen last week, and I am now using an older iBook that we had, but I haven't been able to retrieve my mail address book from the backups I was making. I have most of the contacts in my address book when using .mac web-based email, but not on my computer. I am afraid to turn on syncing because I don't want my computer to erase all the addresses stored online. How can I reverse sync, and get my online address book to import to my computer?
    Thanks.

go to 'system prefernces > .Mac > advanced > reset sync data'
Then choose to replace everything on your compu with .Mac data. (Back up before you begin! or is there really nothing to back up, then don't bother of course)

  • How do I change the default address book from the Personal Address Book?

Whenever I click on an email address from within an email and ask to add it to my address book, the contact is added to Personal Address Book. How do I change that so that new addresses will be added to another book?

I do not know of a way to change the default but after you click the star beside the address to add it to the address book, click the star a second time to open the edit dialog box. There is a drop down list of your address books to make the change there.

    Hi,
From the printer Front panel, navigate to Setup. Locate and enter Web Services. Aprove any of the steps to enable the service... allow the device several minutes to complete the registration, a page will print automatically with the printer code and the directions to select the email address from hpeprint.com.
    Regards.
