How to add arrow in FCP

My friend's football coach wants me to add an arrow over a player on the video to show the viewer which player to focus on. The video is supposed to be used to help the player get recruited to play for college football.
What plug-ins are available for something like this?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for...
You can make the arrow in the text generator or import a still image of an arrow as footage, preferably a .png or something with an alpha channel. Then you can lay on top of your clip, adjust scale/rotation, and place it on top of the player.
It's kind of a pain to animate things in FCP but, it can be done.
To animate it...
Create keyframes for the Center position of the arrow clip (click on the diamond shape next to the X,Y values to the right of "Center" in the motion tab of the clip)
Place the arrow over the player at the beginning of the clip.
Advance one frame at a time and adjust the center of the arrow to follow the player you are highlighting. It may be tough to make the animation real smooth this way, but it will get the job done.
Hope that helps.
Videocopilot.net has some tutorials on motion-tracking in After Effects, if you happen to have that program.

  • How to add arrows to directional lines on a map

Greetings,  i just created a map page for a book using iPhoto 11.  I've added the directional lines of the locations I visited and would like to be able to add arrows to the lines showing the order of the trips.  In previous projects the arrows appeared automatically but I can't find an option to add them in iPhoto 9.5.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

    Hello there, Scott.
Great News: the feature is still part of the Application. The following Knowledge Base article offers up the steps for adding that type of line:
iPhoto 9.5: Customize map locations in photo books
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH15223
    Particularly:
Add direction lines on a map
You can add lines that indicate a path or direction to two or more locations on a map.
Click the book name in the Source list. The book pages appear in All Pages view.
Click the Options button in the toolbar.
Double-click the page that contains the map.The page spread appears with the page selected.
Select the map.Important:   Be sure to select the map, not the page.
In the Options pane, choose a line style from the Line pop-up menu.Note:   To add lines, a map must contain two or more locations.
The lines appear in the order in which the locations appear in the Places list.
To change the order in which the lines connect the locations, reorder the Places list by dragging a location up or down in the list.
To show round-trip direction lines, select the “Return to Starting Place” checkbox.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

  • How to add an orange link arrow on a report

    Hi forumers !
I added an orange link arrow on a simple report (just to know how to add the orange drill down link). My report displays the following fields: CardCode, CardName and Balance taken from OCRD table.
I want to add a link arrow on CardCode such that if I click on it, I can see the BP card. For this, i added the image of an orange arow, then create a hyperlink on it. The query I used is  'http://$b1$/link?table=OCRD&key='+{OCRD.CardCode}.
When I run the report and click on the link, IE opens and I get the following error message :"unable to open the page".
I've tried several ideas found on this forum , but I still getting the same error message.
    My questions are:
How can I do to correctly see the BP card using the link arrow?
Is there any security settings in IE I must do in order to display the BP card?
    Thanks !

    Hi Yves
try to type at the end of your query the following
    select cardcode,cardname,balance from ocrd
    for browse
    and execute it again

  • How to add another Chapter Page for more then 6 chapters & add right arrow?

    Hello,
I created a project via the Magic iDVD option and it worked great and added multiple chapter pages for more then 6 chapters. Now, I manually added a submeno off of main and added 6 chapters but I need multiple pages since I have 40 chapters... I can't figure out how to add another chapter page and create a RIGHT ARROW navigation button for the next pages...
I also looked at the map view and see that on the working pages there is page connected to page... I also cannot find a way to add a page connected vi map view...
I have searched the forum but none of the answers were clear on how to do this... any help would be appreciated...
    Thanks! T.

Adding the submenu is easy...making the button for it a "right arrow" is not.
You can keep adding submenus to other submemus by navigating to the appropriate menu and then choose the "add submenu" command from the iDVD project menu. This can be done in either normal or map view.
However, this creates a "folder" button, (or other things in some themes) not a right arrow. I agree it should be a choice! My 2nd best solution is to chage the folder button to a "text only button" and label it "More Chapters > >"
Another solution (3rd best??) is to use command-shift-4 when you are one one of your other menus that DOES have a right arrow, and take a mini picture of the arrow. Then choose one of the oval menu buttons on the button pane, and drag this tiny picture onto the button. Re-size it to make it close to the same size as your other buttons. It will have a funny edge on it from the button style, but it will look like a right arrow.

  • Silly question - but how do I add arrows to my presentation?

Hi all - just wanted to know if you can add arrows to presentation in FCE? I tried to add objects using LiveType but was unable to find anything there.
I just need to add some arrows to motion video to point out certain things.
    Thank you!

    Hi(Bonjour)!
There're a lot of free quality plugins available on the web.
    See Stib's FXscript web site:
    http://www.fxscript.org/plugins.html
There is a good arrows generator included in the package that's works well with FCE HD. Be sure to select the "pre-FCP 5" one.
    See the demo reel:

  • Making an arrow in FCP to point to someone

I created an arrow in Photoshop and saved it as a .png. I need to scale and rotate depending on the video that is playing (I'm pointing out a football player), but when I add the image it is very rigid. It loses the smoothness of the original file.
Not sure how to correct this pixelation. Perhaps there is a way to create an arrow within FCP...

The arrow will have straight and sharp lines which when rotated will tend to alias. a slight blur will help this.
The other option might be to create a solid circle and drop the opacity of the circle as it follows the player. It will not be as clean as it is in photoshop since you are going from a still image progressive display to an interlaced display moving image. depending on what line it is on you may see some distortion on the top or bottom of the circle

  • How to add more than one clip to a drop zone?  New guy

Hey all, I'm new to DVD studio and I'm trying to fiqure out how to add more than one clip to a Template drop zone. I'm using a 6 button template. I've named each button .. Football, Baseball, Hockey ...etc.
How can put in MORE THAN ONE CLIP in the Football track/drop zone. So when someone clicks on Football they can see 3 examples.
Do I need to create something to link to that Football button?
    Any replies appreciated

You can edit the segments to be used in FCP or Motion so that the asset drop in has three examples
Another way (if you want) is to make the entire menu outside of DVD SP so that the background layer is an m2v and the items are revealed/masked to some degree
Take a look towards the bottom of this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2951183&#2951183 where I discuss http://www.dvdstepbystep.com/Overmovies.zip
Note that you can also use a basic overlay to do this. The overlay would be just solid black instead of the arrows/circles things I use in that example.
For instance make the text one color and the box over the movie another (You can make it blue and the box red lets say) Draw a region over both for the button. Map blue for highlights/transparencies for normall/selected/activated and the same for the Box

  • How to add newly imported audio - as a new storyline/angle to existing multi cam Project??

I have a 6 camera multi cam Music Video Project I have been working on in depth for 5 days. The "band" has sent me a new & improved .wav file to replace the audio I have been working with on one "song". I have imported it into the event, cannot figure out how to add it as a new angle (that I will manually sync on the timeline) and then make it the active audio monitor angle. I see ways to "connect it" but not how to have it appear in the 6up display & on its own story/time line in the precision editor. This is like reinventing the wheel. I am losing mu mind. Please help?
    Thanks

Man oh man. I need to take a break & eat somthing, how embarassing. I swear I knew that but had an attack of hysterical blindness or... the disclose arrow>add new...  Thank You Tom for your quick & thouriough reply. Have a swell holiday.

  • How to add a guide?

    Hello,
I am working on a trifold brochure. I couldn't find a template, then decided to make a new one. But the problem is I can't divide the document into pieces by guides. I watched some tutorials (videos) for other softwares, but the methods doesn't work. Can you describe how to add a guide to a document? Thanks in advance.

Guides are on the tool panel (3rd icon from below - where I gues your default tool is warp tool), point on arrow then select Guide Tool. Next, point on the ruler then drag&drop in place

When I tried to add the 2nd arrow, the arrow doesn't show up on the screen, and then there is a pause created where I put the first arrow. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?
