How to add audio file to iTunes when iMatch is on.

I subscribe to iMatch but have found that certain audio files (talks) are ineligible for cloud storage.  I want to add these files to my device but on earlier versions of iTunes I wasn't able to add the files unless iMatch was turned off.  Now I don't seem to be able to add them at all.  Any ideas?

To be mirrored in the cloud audio files must meet certain requirements. They must be at least 96Kbps and less than 200 MBs in size. Most "audio files" of the kind you describe are less than 96 Kbps so are ineligible to me uploaded to the iTunes Match cloud. You'll need to make the Media Kind something other than Music (which they shouldn't be anyway, since they are not music files) like Podcast. Then you will be able to sync the tracks to your iOS device via USB/Thunderbolt.
You can use an OS X app such as Subler to set the Media Kind before you add the file to the iTunes library.

  • How to add audio files.

I'm using Premiere Elements 11 on my iMac.  I can't for the life of me figure out how to add music files to the 8 or so that come with the program.  Anybody else having this problem or am I just dumber than most?

As I put in my original post I might be dumber than most and that's still a possibility.  I also tried the "Use Smartsound" same feeling that I didn't like the add on that just took me to another site to sell me music.  I couldn't find the "Project Assets" box after looking almost everywhere.  But.....  I was in the "Quick" mode.  Knowing I was a rank beginner I avoided the "Expert" tab.  But after looking everywhere else I opened that tab and "It's A Miracle" there it was.  Still stumbling through the learning process so thanks for your kind help.  If I hit the wall again I'll make another post looking for help.  Thanks Again.
I tried the Quick mode.  When I did 'add media' in the upper left corner, video files went straigt to the project box.  Then I tried an audio file and it went below the video in the project box.  So, I see where in 'Quick' the 'Project Assets' box and step are skipped.  Sorry about misleading you.
Either way, audio files get to the project box when you pick them up as a file on your computer.
There are two great sources to speed the learning process.  lynda.com has courses that are like a personal demo of everything PrE does with a great coach explaining it.   http://www.lynda.com/Premiere-Elements-tutorials/Up-Running-Premiere-Elements-11/109763-2. html  A few if the chapters are free as a trial.  The fee is $25 for a month of access.  One month is more than enough if all you want is the one course.
If you prefere owning a course on a disk, video2brain is an alternative, but I don't think it is as thorough.

  • How to add music/files to itunes?

I reanctly found my old music on a flash drive. I have been trying to add the files to itunes, but it is not working. I am going through the normal procedure, bu adding files to libary, but nothing is happening... Would be great if someone could give me some advice! Beth

    Beth,
When iTunes encounters a file that is not compatible it "errors silently," which looks to the user exactly like "nothing is happening."  So I'm guessing that the files you found are either in a format not compatible with iTunes, or else are corrupted, more likely the former.
Do they play OK in another player, such as QuickTime or VLC?

  • How do I add media files to iTunes when my iTunes library file is out of date?

My 2007 iMac died. My last backup was done 7 months ago. My iTunes media folder resides on an external drive, so all of my iTunes media files are unaffected, but when I set up my new 2012 Mac Mini using my last backup, my iTunes library file will be 7 months behind. In the past 7 months, I have added around 2,000 new media files to iTunes. So my question is this: what is the best way to add those 2,000 files into iTunes? Is it as simple as drag-and-drop? They are already in the iTunes media folder, I just need to tell iTunes they exist. Thanks for any help!

File > Add to library and select /Music/iTunes/iTunes media/ folder.
Anything in that folder not showing in iTunes library will get added.

  • How to edit audio file in iTunes, rename file

I finally figured out how to join mulitple tracks I'd ripped from a CD into one file, but now there's space between each track as it plays. Is there a way for me to edit the spaces out?
Where do I find the file for the new track? I need to upload it to a website.
Also, I want to change the name of the now-combined track, which iTunes automatically named "Audio CD." Is there a way for me to do that? Can't find an option for that.
    Appreciate any help.

Removing dead space once you've made a contiguous file is going to mean chopping it up again, and possibly a loss of quality as you re-encode the audio.
Try again from the beginning using either MPEG Audio Scissors or Audacity.

I want to know how to create a backup file (because I'm pretty new with itunes, and it's hard to use it for me still), how to store my app data/media/videos, etc. And how I can retrieve them back when I'm done with the app I tried on my friend's computer.
If anyone can help, it'd be great! Thank you so much!

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac.  You should be able to set a password for it. Save it.  Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer,  I suppose,  back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity.  As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,
This handy article from Apple explains how
How to move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Support''
don't forget to de-authorize your iMac if you don't want to play purchased stuff there
and re-authorize your new macBook Pro
time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine  and go for it.  You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups  of your stuff.

  • How do I uninstall or reinstall itunes when the itunes.mls file is missing and won't do either without it?

How do I uninstall or reinstall itunes when the itunes.mls file is missing and won't do either without it? Have done a search for the file extension on PC and two external hard drives. Doesn't show up.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • When I add m3u files to itunes it crashes mac

When i add m3u files to itunes 11 it crashes and i'm forced to force quit. Would realy appreciate help as i have lots of files to add and some folders contain m3u files as well as mp3 and mp4 files.

Well, you can send a report to Apple and ask them to fix iTunes.  Then sit back and wait... and wait... and wait, and maybe in a version or two they will look at the issue (or maybe not) because .m3u isn't something in daily use with iTunes so it probably isn't a high priority (posts by only 3 people in almost 2 months).  Or you can remove the m3u files or look at them more closely and see if there is something about them causing this.  I use an old iTunes (version 7.5) and adding .m3u is annoying but not calamatous so maybe the issue is something new. It usually is just a file pointing to the files I just added anyway so if I did so by dragging to a playlist it can generate duplicates.  If I catch onto them first I trash them.

  • Moving audio files into Itunes Folder

I have files in my Itunes folder. I also have music files in other folders scattered throughout my computer. All these songs are in my Itunes library.
How can i move all the songs that aren't in my Itunes folder into my Itunes folder? When I consolidate the music tt only lets me copy. Is there a way to just move them without creating double copies?

With the more recent version of iTunes, it automatically stores converted audio files into Artist\Album folder, and re-names the audio track to the the track number plus the title of the track.
It's not the"more recent version of iTunes". It's all versions iof iTunes.
Is there anyway to store the converted audio files in one folder, and keep the same name as the original file name?
    No.
If you are RIPping from CD, iTunes will put them into the iTunes music folder by Artist/Album name.
If you are adding songs to iTunes, it does not convert them unless they are WM and then it puts them into Artist/Album folders.
If you want your own Folder/File names, RIP the CD using a different application and put the files into your own folders.
Then iTunes prefs -> Advanced and uncheck *Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library*.
Then add the files to iTunes.

  • How to add (move) file (song) to Media library without a copy being left behind?

A followup to my questions from yesterday. I seem to have fixed the database/folder issues. But here's the lingering problem:
For years, up until yesterday in fact, I had a standard, simple method of adding (non-itunes-purchased) files to my iTunes library. I had created a  folder out in the iTunes root folder named "NEW". I opened iTunes, went to File>Add File To Library, navigated to my NEW folder and added them from there.
When I did that, iTunes placed them and organized them into my library and removed them entirely from the NEW folder. That way I could glance at my NEW folder and see if I had anything to import.
NOW after some settings resets and a bunch of hassles in the past few days, suddenly when I add a file from NEW into the iTunes library, it is COPYING the file, not moving it. If I uncheck the "Copy..." box inside Preferences>Advanced all it does is POINT the osng at the one in the NEW folder without putting it in the iTunes library at all.
So my only options seem not to be "Copy" the file into iTunes (leaving behind the original which I have to manually delete)
    or
Not copy, where iTunes just uses the file in its location in the NEW folder which also doesn't help me.
How can I get back to having it move the file, and reorganize it into the library and not leave a copy behind?

If your "New" folder is inside the currently designated iTunes Media folder then when you add the files to iTunes they can be moved to their new locations without leaving copies behind. If the folder lives outside the iTunes Media folder and you have Copy to iTunes Media folder when adding to library selected then copies will be created. 'twas ever thus, so I suspect a chance change in the location of your "New" folder is responsible for the apparent change in behaviour.
If you leave Copy to... turned off then you can add in files from outside of the media folder and have them moved without leaving copies behind using the ConsolidateByMoving script as opposed to iTunes own "consoidate files" command, though I would think that working with "New" inside iTunes Media, or the Automatically add... folder is a lot less effort.

  • Can't add m4a files in itunes

When I try to add m4a files in itunes it did not add it. Please help how can I add m4a files in itunes.

Further info: my housemate just drop-boxed (mac to mac) a few of his albums that work fine in his iTunes and the same thing, they'll show in a playlist with their correct details but not in the main library. iTunes is definitely processing after I add them, and they are definitely not corrupt (shown MP3 scan +repair) - I've attached a couple of pictures to clarify.
Please help! I'm a bit OCB about my music being organised correctly I'll admit!

  • How to import WMA files into iTunes to burn to CD?

My coworker gave me a voice recorder that records in WMA files. I cannot simply drag the audio file into iTunes like I have from other recorders. I need to get the audio into iTunes so I can burn to CD. Any ideas?

    Problems -
    EasyWMA is not free.
Switch looks fine, but after installing the wma plugin as prompted, and feeding it the first batch of .wma files, it crashed.
    I'm now 'borrowing' an EasyWMA.
Pros : simple to use. you can have it process your entire music folder at once. adds songs to itunes right away.
Cons : limited functionality! E.g. there's no option for VBR (variable bit rate), so I set it to 256 fixed. E.g. when having it run through my entire music folder, there was no option to restrict it to wma files - it also worked my flac's, for which I'd already found a better solution (fluke).
Sigh Hate to complain, but hey, this stuff would be easier on Windows
