How to add data from one TS database to another?

HI,
This is really a simple and basic question.
I'm collecting data in one local database (Access/Jet). I have the same database somewhere else and I would like to transfer the data I have collected locally to that other one.
Is there a tool within the TS environment to help me do that or do I need to use MS Access in order to do it?
Is it possible to do it programmatically?
Thanks
Rafi

You have all of the database steps to work with. You can open one, do a SQL query in which you SELECT the data save it to TestStand variables and then open the second db and do a SQL INSERT to that. Tools for database synchronization are probably built into Access and that might be the more efficient method though. The TestStand ActiveX adapter can be used or maybe you can write a stored procedure that will do it for you.

  • How to pass data from one internal session to another internal session

    hi all sap experts ,
How to pass data from one internal session to another internal session and from oneExternal session to another external session.
Except : Import and Export parameters and SPA/GPA parameters.
Tell me the otherWay to pass data ..
    Plz
    Thanks in advance

    hi,
abap memory management u will understand about this concept.
the import /export parameter will help u that passing data between two internal sessions by using abap memory.
      for syntax
    Passing Data Between Programs
There are two ways of passing data to a called program:
Passing Data Using Internal Memory Areas
There are two cross-program memory areas to which ABAP programs have access (refer to the diagram in Memory Structures of an ABAP Program) that you can use to pass data between programs.
    SAP Memory
SAP memory is a memory area to which all main sessions within a SAPgui have access. You can use SAP memory either to pass data from one program to another within a session, or to pass data from one session to another. Application programs that use SAP memory must do so using SPA/GPA parameters (also known as SET/GET parameters). These parameters can be set either for a particular user or for a particular program using the SET PARAMETER statement. Other ABAP programs can then retrieve the set parameters using the GET PARAMETER statement. The most frequent use of SPA/GPA parameters is to fill input fields on screens (see below).
    ABAP Memory
ABAP memory is a memory area that all ABAP programs within the same internal session can access using the EXPORT and IMPORT statements. Data within this area remains intact during a whole sequence of program calls. To pass data to a program which you are calling, the data needs to be placed in ABAP memory before the call is made. The internal session of the called program then replaces that of the calling program. The program called can then read from the ABAP memory. If control is then returned to the program which made the initial call, the same process operates in reverse. For further information, refer to Data Clusters in ABAP Memory.
Filling Input Fields on an Initial Screen
Most programs that you call from other programs have their own initial screen that the user must fill with values. For an executable program, this is normally the selection screen. The SUBMIT statement has a series of additions that you can use to fill the input fields of the called program:
Filling the Selection Screen of a Called Program
You cannot fill the input fields of a screen using additions in the calling statement. Instead, you can use SPA/GPA parameters. For further information, refer to Filling an Initial Screen Using SPA/GPA Parameters.

    Please tel me urgently
    Thank you

Memory Structures of an ABAP Program
In the Overview of the R/3 Basis System you have seen that each user can open up to six R/3 windows in a single SAPgui session. Each of these windows corresponds to a session on the application server with its own area of shared memory.
The first application program that you start in a session opens an internal session within the main session. The internal session has a memory area that contains the ABAP program and its associated data. When the program calls external routines (methods, subroutines or function modules) their main program and working data are also loaded into the memory area of the internal session.
Only one internal session is ever active. If the active application program calls a further application program, the system opens another internal session. Here, there are two possible cases: If the second program does not return control to the calling program when it has finished running, the called program replaces the calling program in the internal session. The contents of the memory of the calling program are deleted. If the second program does return control to the calling program when it has finished running, the session of the called program is not deleted. Instead, it becomes inactive, and its memory contents are placed on a stack.
The memory area of each session contains an area called ABAP memory. ABAP memory is available to all internal sessions. ABAP programs can use the EXPORT and IMPORT statements to access it.
All ABAP programs can also access the SAP memory. This is a memory area to which all sessions within a SAPgui have access. You can use SAP memory either to pass data from one program to another within a session, or to pass data from one session to another. Application programs that use SAP memory must do so using SPA/GPA parameters (also known as SET/GET parameters). These parameters are often used to preassign values to input fields. You can set them individually for users, or globally according to the flow of an application program. SAP memory is the only connection between the different sessions within a SAPgui.
The following diagram shows how an application program accesses the different areas within shared memory:
In the diagram, an ABAP program is active in the second internal session of the first main session. It can access the memory of its own internal session, ABAP memory and SAP memory. The program in the first internal session has called the program which is currently active, and its own data is currently inactive on the stack. If the program currently active calls another program but will itself carry on once that program has finished running, the new program will be activated in a third internal session.
    Data Clusters in ABAP Memory
You can store data clusters in ABAP memory. ABAP memory is a memory area within the internal session (roll area) of an ABAP program and any other program called from it using CALL TRANSACTION or SUBMIT.
ABAP memory is independent of the ABAP program or program module from which it was generated. In other words, an object saved in ABAP memory can be read from any other ABAP program in the same call chain. ABAP memory is not the same as the cross-transaction global SAP memory. For further information, refer to Passing Data Between Programs.
This allows you to pass data from one module to another over several levels of the program hierarchy. For example, you can pass data
From an executable program (report) to another executable program called using SUBMIT.
From a transaction to an executable program (report).
    Between dialog modules.
From a program to a function module.
    and so on.
The contents of the memory are released when you leave the transaction.
To save data objects in ABAP memory, use the statement EXPORT TO MEMORY.
    Saving Data Objects in Memory
To read data objects from memory, use the statement IMPORT FROM MEMORY.
    Reading Data Objects from Memory
To delete data clusters from memory, use the statement FREE MEMORY.
    Deleting Data Clusters from Memory
please read this which provide more idea about memory

  • Copying database objects and data from one server database to another server database in AG group

    Hi,
I am still trying to wrap my head around sql clusters and AGs and I have a project that requires I take a vendor's database and restore it weekly so its available on the production server which is clustered.
The vendor's database on the cluster is in an AG group and encrypted.
Right now, I plan to restore the database on a sql staging server and use the SSIS Transfer SQL Server Objects Task to copy the table structure and data from Stage to the Production database of same name and I would first drop the objects in production
    database using the same task.
I am concerned that this might cause issues with the passive cluster due to "logging" from active to passive. The database is about 260 MBs and I am not sure how many tables.
Has anyone run into this type of scenario before or have a better solution?
    Thanks
    Sue

IF I understand anything about clustered sql and logging, the sql server should take the log file and recreate the same scenario on the passive side of the cluster.
    Is that correct?
    Hi Sue,
Yes, for AlwaysOn Availability Group, the transaction log is basically replayed from the primary to all of the secondary's.
Besides, from my point of view, as we cannot directly restore a database that is part of an Availability Group, it is a good way using SSIS task to drop and recreate all tables then transfer data from the restored database to the primary replica. Schema changes
and data changes will also happen on the secondary  replica.

LOOP AT ktab WHERE id = jtab-id.
        MOVE-CORRESPONDING ktab TO itab.

    ENDLOOP.
Use sorted type table when LOOP AT WHERE, else SORT table is enough.

  • Improving performance on migrating data from one Oracle database to another

We are using hibernate to migrate complete tables from one database to the other. This takes hours to days to transfer a couple of tables, all having relationships between each other. The only difference is that the new tables have an extra column which stores the primary key of the source table as an alias key in the destination table and the destination table has only one extra column which is its own primary key. Another small difference is that the name of the columns is a little different.
Isn't there a simple way to use Oracle database's in built tools to migrate data if provided the source and destination tables and column names for mapping purposes? Please provide some suggestions for this Oracle newbie. Any other suggestions on improving the migration performance will be greatly appreciated.
    Suggestions please!!!

    Hello Justin,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Ours is a small company so we take up all kinda roles. In this particular scenario, I was asked to migrate all the tables from one database to another. Both of the databases are present on two different machines but on the same network. There are about 100,000 records in some of the tables and there are about 50 tables to migrate. As I said, both the tables have different columns to be mapped and then transferred and the new table has only one extra column which is a primary key in the new table. Under these constraints, Hibernate is taking way too much time.
I always felt that there must be a simpler and efficient way to do this. I would appreciate if you could you explain me the procedures in detail please.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to move data from one cell/sheet to another

Hi - Help! I have a spreadsheet with multiple columns & rows for ordering clothes. The first column is  text of each item & it's size. What I want to do is:
IF D15 has a number in it, I want that number and the text from A15 to populate into another sheet.
Then I want to re-create this function in all the cells, so that if ANY cell has a number in it, that number and the text in the A column of that row shows up in the new sheet, in the corresponding cell.
here's a screen shot of my sheet:
    Any help would be great!!
    Kim

    Hi Kim,
I got the same error message when building the formula—it's easy to get lost in all the parentheses!
Here's a breakdown of the formula I used.
    =IF(OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,COLUMN())>0,OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,COLUMN())&" - "&OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,0),"")
The overall stucture is an IF statement:
    IF(test,"Yes","No")
IF(there is a value greater than zero in this cell's 'partner' on the main table,
(then) copy that value here and append the label in column A of the main table, separated by a space, a dash, and a second space,
(otherwise) put an empty text string here)
    Test: OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,COLUMN())>0
The 'partner' cell on the main table is the one on the same row and one column to the right of the cell containing the formula. (eg. for Summary::B2, the 'partner cell to be tested is Data::C2, the first data cell for Person 2)
OFFSET(base,r,c)>0 compares the value in the cell r rows below and c columns to the right of the base cell with the value zero.
Data::$A$1: A1 is my usual choice for the base cell, as it usually simplifies the calculations for r and c.
ROW()-1: ROW() returns the row number of the row in which it is located. In B2, it will return 2. '-1' reduces that value to 1, the row offset necessary to get from Data::A1 to Data::b2.
COLUMN(): COLUMN() returns the column number of the column in which it is located. In B2 it will return 2.  No adjustment is necessary, as 2 is the column offset necessary to get from Data::A1 to Data::C2
OFFSET returns the value in Data::C2 and compares it with 0 (zero). The value (1) is greater than 0, so the test returns TRUE, and the IF function acts on the "yes" section.
    Yes: OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,COLUMN())&" - "&OFFSET(Data :: $A$1,ROW()-1,0)
This section contains two OFFSET statements.
The first is the same as the one in Test, and returns the value in the tested cell (1).
The second is the same, except for the third argument (c) which is fixed at 0 (zero). This returns the value in the cell in column A (zero columns to the right of A1) in the same row as the tested cell.
The two returned values are linked by this expression: &" - "&
"&" is the concatenation operator, which joins the values left and right of it into a text string. Here, the value returned by the first OFFSET (1) is joined to the text (space-space) contained between the double quotes, and that is joined to the value returned by the second OFFSET function (Item 1)
    No: ""
If there is no number entered in the Data cell being tested, IF acts on the "no" section of the formula, and inserts an empty string ( "" ) in the cell containing the formula. An empty string displays as 'blank', and is the closest one can get to an 'empty' cell using a formula.
    Regarding your questions:
"I seem to not understand what I'm supposed to put in the () and " " 's. I copied and pasted it and got the error message "the formula contains an invalid referance". DO i put certain row/cell numbers in somewhere?"
ROW() and COLUMN() should have no argument entered between the parentheses. Each returns the row or column number of the cell containing the formula.
The double quotes at the end of the IF statement define a text string with no text. You can put any text between them, but that text will then appear in all cells whose 'partner' cell does not contain a number greater than zero.
The 'invalid reference' error message usually means a formula is referencing a cell that is not on the table. My guess is that your Summary table includes a copy of column A from your Data table. That would place "Person 1" in column B on both tables, and would require an adjustment of 'COLUMN()' to 'COLUMN()-1' in the first two OFFSET functions.
Another possibility is a mismatch between the Data table name in the formula and the actual name of the Data table.
Beyond those possibilities, I'd need to see either the document or screen shots of both tables and a copy of the actual formula as you've entered it.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • [php+mysql] how to pass data from one insert form to another?

    Hi all,
I have an insert form (in a mysql db) on the page. Is there a way to

    >Hi Tony,

    >Günter Schenk
    >Adobe Community Expert, Dreamweaver
    Hi Günter,
    Thanks, it works.
I added a bit of code to set a session variable using this Parameter
URL, so that I can manage the record ID along the whole user session.
So, I ask you a little question: when it is best to delete or destroy
session variables? after displaying the inserted records or just befor
    inserting the first one?
Here is my little test workflow:
1- destroy variable sessions (I think I will unset session variables
one by one instead, to eliminate the risk to delete other sesssion
    variable (UserID...)
2- insert the first record (redirect to the next page using the record
    ID1)
3- set a session variable (S1) using the ID1 coming from previous page
    ($_GET)
4- insert the second record (redirect to the next page using the
    record ID2)
5- set a session variable (S2) using the ID2 coming from previous
    page ($_GET)
6- insert the third record (redirect to the next page using the
    record ID3)
7- set a session variable (S3) using the ID3 coming from previous page
    ($_GET)
8- create a recordsets to filter the db by S1, S2 and S3.
    9- display the report
    it seems to work.
do you think there is something to refine?
    Thanks again for your kindness.

  • How do i transfer data from one internal tabe to another.

    Hi All,
How do i transfer data from one internal tabe to another.
Can i do it ebven if he tables are different in structure.
    Please Advice.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Saket Tiwari,
I hope the earlier post by kashyap is good enough an answer. anywas in addition to it let me give a detailed
explanation of how you can populate an internal table.
    1) Append data line by line.
Syntax :  APPEND [<wa> TO / INITIAL LINE TO] <itab>.
this appends new line to internal table <itab>.
    2) Using COLLECT statement.
COLLECT is another form of statement used for populating the internal tables.  Generally COLLECT is used while inserting lines into an internal table with unique standard key. The syntax for COLLECT statement is as shown
         Syntax : COLLECT [<wa> INTO] <itab>.
    3) Using INSERT statement
Syntax  INSERT [<wa> INTO / INITIAL LINE INTO] <itab> [index <idx>].
INSERT statement adds a line/work area to the internal table. You can specify the position at which the new line is to be added by using the INDEX clause with the INSERT statement.
    Now coming to your request..
To append part or all of an internal table
         Syntax
APPEND LINES OF <itab1> [FROM <n1>] [TO <n2>] TO <itab2>.
    *     Note:
Without the FROM and TO options, this statement appends the entire table <itab1> to <itab2>.*
    b) To insert part or all of an internal table into another internal table
         Syntax
INSERT LINES OF <itab1> [FROM <n1>] [TO <n2>]
              INTO <itab2> [INDEX <idx>].
    c) Using Move statement.
To copy entire contents of one table into another in one execution
         Syntax MOVE  <itab1> To <itab2>.
                   OR
              <itab1> = <itab2>.
but u hav to be careful because he contents of itab2 will eb overwritten on the execution of this statement.
These copy the contents of ITAB1 to ITAB2. Incase of internal tables with header line we have to use [] inorder to distinguish from work area. So, to copy contents of internal tables with header line  the syntax becomes,
    ITAB1[] = ITAB2[].
Coming to the letter part of your question, Yes, we can copy values between tables having different structures.
    for this we use
                                MOVE-CORRESPONDING <itab1> TO <itab2>
this executes the statement for their header lines. Searches for the sub-fields which occur both in itab1 and itab2 and then generates, for all relevant field pairs which correspond to the
sub-fields ni , statements of the form MOVE itab1-ni TO itab2-ni. The other fields remain unchanged.
I hope the information provided has been of your help.
    Reward if useful.
    Regards,
    Jose

If you want to export a user and the schema owned to the user, and import to the same user in a different database, or a different user in the same database, you can use the exp and imp commands as described in the Utilities manual.
These commands are very versatile and have a lot of options - well worth learning properly. To give you a simplistic shortcut, see below - I create a user 'test_move', create some objects in the schema, export, create a new user in the database 'new_move' and import.

There are many variations on the theme ...
You can simplify this. You can select tables individually. You can use a parameter file. You can transport all the constraints and data. You can skip the data and only move the definitions. You can get some help (imp/exp help=yes).
And, if it's all 10g, there is a new and improved facility called expdp/impdp (dp = data pump) which has a lot more capability as well, including direct transfer (no intermediate file) together with suspend/restart. Also documented in the Utilities manual.
