How to add iCloud to iCal?

The 4S iPhone is syncing both iCal & iPhone, but my comp iCal is adding iCloud. Thus any changes I'm making to my phone is uploading to iCloud but is not showing up on my computer's iCal.
Searched all day for the solution and can't find anything -- help me please!

Ha - I was just about to respond to my own question -- looks like I need to get Lion (I'm still using Snow Leopard)
Well, good news is that iCloud works and my phone is updating both calendars.
Bad news is that my iCal was wiped totally clean & I lost all my dates (but after it synced to iCloud).
Sheesh -- getting new products can be so confusing at times!!

There isn't an iCloud app. You'll find iCloud in Settings>iCloud, where you can sign in with your Apple ID to create your iCloud account (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html). When I try to add iCloud as an account on the Air iCal, it indicates iCal is already setup for iCloud. My iPhone does not show any iCal entries, but it has downloaded all my contacts successfully. Any suggestions? I can't tell which side is broken.

Check System Preferences > iCloud
Make sure Calendars is selected.

You can add up to three 'email aliases' - these are additional addresses (not accounts) which deliver into the same inbox as the main account. (In fact it's a good idea to give out alias addresses, rather than the main address, because if they attract spam you can easily change them.) (New aliases can only be @icloud.com ones; @me.com addresses cannot now be created.)
You should be aware before you start that once you've created an alias you cannot turn that address into a full iCloud account or move it to another account.

To move your calendars, follow the second set of numbered instructions here:

Then you can sign out of iCloud in System Preferences>iCloud.

Launch Contacts.
Preferences > Template
Click in the "Add Field" box.
Select "Birthday".
Launch Calendar.
Preferences > General
Put a checkmark in the box for "Show Birthdays calendar".

How to add iCloud to existing (old) apple id?

It seems that at some point my Apple Id split into with and without @mac.com. All of my purchases that matter are on the one with out the @. I see by looking through notes that using 2 accounts should work but some things are a bit off e.g. the MyStations in podcast does not sync to appleTV because all my subscriptions are on the account without an @ and AppleTV will not log-into that account.
So is there any way to add an iCloud identity to the old account and then I can manually copy my data and abandon the matching account with the @?

I tried logging into iCloud with the non-email account and got the message that it needed to be changed to an email address. In mangage apple id tried to add my main personal email as the primary address but it is associated with a different account (not the @mac.com one? and there appears to be no way to find which apple Id this is). I associated a secondary personal email address and promoted it to primary in manage apple id, then changed the apple id to this address. I then used this to login to the iCloud website and got the message that it needed to be associated with a device first. Fortunately I had access to a test machine with out an apple id.
It appears to be working and apple tv is is syncing purchases and podcasts now. Photo stream of course needs new photos to stream but it looks like all will work, lots of software and devices to fix/set the new login name on.

trying to remove mobile me from the ical to use the full use icloud...oh my!
I am now unable to navigate the ical. The window below keeps coming up regardless of clicking on the "go offline" or "revert to server"
I simply remove the "mobileme.com" acount to the left and added he new "me.com" acount for icloud.
I dd however, export all my calendar data.
Some healp would be most appreciated. HOpe I explained this correctly.

Disconncect from the internet, then Quit/Force Quit iCal. Open System Preferences...>MobileMe>Account, and sign out of your MobileMe account. Next, go to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file. Drag that file to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and attempt to open iCal.
Let us know what happens.

but I get stuck at the very first step. There is no cog icon in the sidebar when I access Mail from icloud.com.

Go to http://icloud.com . Click the Mail icon. Then click the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Preferences'. In the pane which opens click 'Accounts' in the top bar.
Click the '+' sign below the accounts list (which presumably shows only the one address) and you can create a new @icloud,com address - of course this isn't a new account, just an additional address which delivers into the same inbox as the main address.

If you first select the calendar on the left, so that its background is highlighted blue/grey, when you make a new events they should be added to that calendar.

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.

The 4G/iOS 6 does not have an Activation Lock. That started with iOS 7.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
