How to add icon to JList(urgent)

Hi guys,
wanted to make a jlist which will have icon & string in it. How can I add the icon to it. also does icon file extension must be .gif ?

You are in luck. The API documentation for JList contains an example of precisely that. Take a deep breath, relax, and read it. (Icons must be GIF or JPEG.)

hello pradeep,
for adding icons in the tree, u willhave to look closely to the
data format for the tree.in the data format used for populating
the tree we are supplying 5 fields. the state of the tree node
(expanded or collapsed), the depth of the node w.r.t the parent
node, the node value, the node label(what we see on the tree)
and the node icon which we want to use. for the node icon we
have to provide the entire path of the icon file. that's it.

Please take a look at my reply there on Mar. 29, 2007. I am not sure but i assume that you are using Web Dynpro for Java. Attachment capability is available with NW04s SP10 (both runtime and NWDS). Although, SP09 contains the required web dynpro runtime changes but the API has only been made part of SP10. Follow the note numbers provided therein.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\SendTo
1. In the right-pane create a String value (REG_SZ) named Icon
2. Double-click Icon and type the path to an icon (.ico) file, or mention the icon library file name and the icon index.
3. Exit the Registry Editor.

I have the ipad2. I have filled up all of the windows with programs. Now whenever I add a program there is no room for the icon. I have deleted several programs and their icons from the screens leaving.empty spaces for other icons. Now how do I get the icons I want from the programs that I already have on the ipad2 onto the screen?

In my field catalog fieldcat-icon = 'X' has been taken into consideration, but still I am not able to see in my report. In the final internal table that is to display I created a field for this Icon type ICON_D. Is this the correct procedure to work with or else kindly let me know how to proceed?

Set ls_fcat-icon = 'X' in the fieldcatalog for the column where you want to display icons. In addition, add the following statement to your report:
TYPE-POOLS: icon. " replaces INCLUDE <icon>.
Do not use the coded values (e.g. '@01@') but the "normal" icon names, e.g. ICON_DETAIL.. In order to see the icon names call transaction SE38/SA38 and run report RSTXICON.

My forms were upgraded from 6i to 11g. Then all customized images and icons can not display.
Icon filename in property palette of forms and menus are the filename without path.

I set default.icons.iconpath to be a absolute path to all icons folder in Registry.dat, and make imageBase= documentbase in formsweb.cfg, doesn't work.
What is the DocumentBase folder ? Is it $ORACLE_HOME/forms ??
I also tried imageBase= codebase, package all images( gif files.) in a jar, store it into the forms/java directory. append icons.jar to archive parameter in formsweb.cfg. still doesn't work.
What's the solution steps to do this please ?

The preferred method of using Icons is to deploy them in a signed .jar file. The Oracle document you references is a little vague in this respect (paragraph 4.9.2.1). If you are going to use a jar file for your icons, you need to do the following:
1) You must digitally sign the jar file (preferably with a Trusted Certificate - such as Verisign). You can use your own keystore, but you will get a Trusted Certificate warning in your application.
2) Upload your <YOUR_ICON_FILE_NAME>.jar file to the %FORMS_HOME%/forms/java directory. If you use the default installation, the %FORMS_HOME% directory is typically "/Oracle_FRHome1".
3) Update the default.env to include the full path to the jar file in the CLASSPATH variable.
4) Then you need to update the following variables in the formsweb.cfg :
4.1) archive=frmall.jar, <YOUR_ICON_FILE_NAME>.jar
4.2) imageBase=codebase
After making these changes I recommend restarting your WLS_FORMS instance to ensure the changes takes affect.
