How to add music to final cut project

Hi I wanted to know is it possible to add music to a final cut project from an existing cd or even from itunes? If so how? Thanks

Just drag whatever sound file you want to use to FCP. It will automatically convert it to what it needs.
Uh, QUITE wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. Avid does that, NOT FCP.
#5 Imported music from CD or iTunes
Shane's Stock Answer #5: Importing music from CD or iTunes
To get music into FCP, it needs to be an AIFF file at 48khz, 16 bit stereo. So if you want a song from a CD, you go into the iTunes Preferences, click on ADVANCED and set this up under the IMPORTING tab:
AIFF
Sample Rate - 48.000 kHz
Sample size - 16 bit
Channels - Stereo
If you have an mp3 that you want to use, then you can convert it thru iTunes as well. As long as this is chosen as your import option, when you select a clip and click on the ADVANCED menu, CONVERT TO AIFF will be an option.
If the piece of music you want to use is something you purchased thru iTunes, I'm afraid I can't help you there. There are copywrite issues that prevent files from being converted into the format that FCP can recognize.

  • How do I save a Final Cut project in anticipation of the inevitable crash that happens since I downloaded Mavericks?

    ?

Thank you, Norm. But what I need to know is how to bypass the auto saving function and manually save a project. What happens is this:
-I begin a new project in Final Cut X
-After a certain amount of time the entire computer crashes
    -a restart is performed
-I get back to Final Cut and the project file shows a yellow triangle symbol with an exclamation point
-the project is empty and there is no record of it anywhere
-the project has NOT been automatically saved
Until I can get the OS to perform properly I need to manually save project files.
But, in their infinite wisdom, the software engineers have removed the all-important “save” and “save as” options… They have, once again, “fixed” something that was not broken to a point where it is now broken.

  • How to add stabilization in Final Cut Pro X in a multicam ?

    Hi all
I'm working with a multicam clip and theres a single angle/clip in my mutlicam clip I'd like to stabilize a little as its a bit shakey.
I selected to analize for stabilization and roller shutter when I imported my footage.
I'm clicking the drop down box and selecting Analyze and Stabilize
but its not giving me the options to adjust anything in the inspector (I am selected on video) for the multicam clip.
It does however give me these options if I click on a b-roll clip sitting above my multicam clip.
    Any help?

As FCP X is currently designed, stabilizing multicam material can be very difficult if you have lots of camera angles. The only solution I know requires the below complex work-around.
    1. On multi cam storyline, select clip to stabilize, then shift+f to locate the clip in the event browser, this will highlight it.
    2. Cmd+1: go to event browser window, look at time code & remember it. To enable direct time code display in skimmer: View->Show Skimmer Info.
    3. On multicam storyline, right click the clip, select “Open in angle editor"
    4. Once in Angle Editor, press Control+P to type in the remembered time code. Don’t enter colons, just the numbers and press enter. This will jump to the base clip in the angle editor. If many sync’d tracks, you have to figure out which clip by observation but the playhead should be in the right location.
    5. Blade that section of the clip, select it, then apply stabilization.
    6. In upper left of angle editor timelines, press back arrow to return to multi cam storyline.
I encounter this situation frequently when syncing a lof of material using Plural Eyes and creating a large multi-cam project from that. You only know what clips require stabilizing after editing is nearly complete, so it's not practical to stabilize the base clips before this. Yet there's no way to stabilize the clips directly in the multicam storyline.
This procedure is not required for color correction or other effects in a multicam storyline.

  • How do I import or export iLife music into Final Cut Pro 7. Thanks

How do I import or export iLife music into Final Cut Pro 7? Thanks.

Locate the .caf file you want to use in FCP in the Finder.  Normally, iLife sound files will be in Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/iLife Sound Effects/(subfolder).
Open the file on SoundTrack Pro, the go to File->Save a Copy As.  In the Save As window that will open, navigate to where you want to save the file, then near the bottom of that window, use the drop-down File Format menu to choose AIFF.  Set the bit depth to 16-Bit Integer and the Sampling Rate to 48000 hz.
Import the resulting AIFF file into your FCP project.

  • How to rename folder in Final Cut Pro X project library?

How to rename folder in Final Cut Pro X project library? I can't double click on folder, when I right click it just gives options to erase. Can someone help?

I think you may have misunderstood - the question is regarding renaming a project "folder", not a project name.
Still, the accepted answer here makes no sense to me at all - it's about renaming an event. So we're all confused ;-)
BTW as of 10.0.5, I still cannot rename a project folder while background tasks are running - no clue is given that this is what's going on, second-clicking on the folder just (frustratingly) does nothing. When background tasks finish, it works again.

  • Hi, a "General error"appears on my Final Cut Project when I try to save it. I read in this Community that the solution could be save on the desktop. It works, but how could I solve it in my External HD?

Hi, a "General error"appears on my Final Cut Project when I try to save it. I read in this Community that the solution could be save on the desktop. It works, but how could I solve it in my External HD?

Is the external formatted to Mac OS Extended?
Right click the external icon on the Desktop and select Get Info.
This will tell you the current format.

  • How do I move Final Cut Projects from internal to external?

When moving a Project from my internal drive to an external I find that in User > Movies > Final Cut Projects the files still exist despite being moved in Final Cut Pro X.
Again, all I'm looking to do is move ALL files from my internal SSD to an external RAID volume. Any ideas on how I can successfully do this?
I've read the FCPX User Manual and the forum questions, but none address why project and event files unsuccessfully transfer. : (
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello Tom,
I moved the Project Files by command dragging inside of final cut pro X to the RAID volume.
That didn't move any of the project files however, so I then manually moved them into the RAID volume and then relinked them.
Now I'm left with this 65GB render files folder, which I assume loads the project data faster than if i did not have the render files. That's great but I'd like to be able to move them to the RAID volume without (needlessly) regenerating the files... what do you think?

  • How to  back up Final Cut project with external hard drive. Absolute beginner, so simple steps appreciated.

Hello - How do I back up a Final Cut pro project onto an external hard drive?  It's a work in progress, not a completed project. I'm a total beginner and a step by step would really helpThanks

The auto-backup is the database only, not the media.
To back up the whole Library totally, first make sure to Consolidate it, then simply drag-and-drop it on to the backup drive, that simple.
The KB article referenced by Karsten suggests one additional step: make sure your copy of the library is not at the root level of the drive to which you are copying it. I have not clue why this might be important.
    Herewith:
Back up your Project Library and events using the Finder
To create a single backup copy of your Project Library and events, you can copy the Final Cut Projects folder and Final Cut Events folder to an external storage device.
If you are backing up incrementally, create a folder structure that helps you easily navigate through your backup folders. You could label the folders with the date you made the backup copy, for example.
Important:    To avoid issues, it’s essential that you place the backup files in a folder (named “2012 Final Cut Pro Backups,” for example) that is not at the root level of your external storage device.
In the Finder, locate and select your Final Cut Projects folder and Final Cut Events folder.Your Movies folder is the default location for all project and event files:/Users/username/Movies/ Important:    If you moved a project or event after you created it, it will not be in the default location.
Drag the Final Cut Projects and Final Cut Events folders to the external storage device.
The folders are copied to your external storage device.

    I have a MacBook Pro , Model Identifier MacBook Pro8,2 , MAC OX S 10.7.4
I noticed that if I open Final Cut Projects created on other/older models MacBook Pro Laptops or MacPro Desktops, the fonts used in the previously created FCP projects, change their font spacing! which distorts the look of the Text that was written, by oevrlapping on other things that were put & present on the screen.. Another similar probelm is that the Vector shaped used for example to highlight certain words or shapes, also change their position on the screen so that they no longer highlight exact things that we once used these vectors to highlight or outline... Anyone knows how to solve this problem please?? I made sure that the same fonts are available in the Library in both old and newer computers...
    thanks in advance..

You might want to take your question to the FCP forum - if you copied all fonts to your Library>Fonts folder and restarted they should be recognized by all applications. I know that this works for Adobe products, anyway.

  • How do I open my Final Cut Express 4.0 files in Final Cut Pro 10.1.3?

    Hello,
I used Final Cut Pro when I was in college and when I graduated in 2010, I bought Final Cut Express 4.0. I recently bought Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 two days ago and I am having trouble opening up my old Final Cut Express 4.0 files. When I do go to open up these files they only open up with Final Cut Express and I always get the message: file's format is too new for this version of the application.
How do I open these Final Cut Express 4.0 files in Final Cut Pro 10.1.3?
    Thank you!
    Anna

TThere is no way to go directly from FCE to FCPX. If you know somehow who has FCP7, they can open the FCE projects and export XML files. These can be converted to FCPX XML format using the 7toX utility.

  • Final Cut Project file has become bloated

My Final Cut Project file seems to be growing at an exponential level.  It jumped from 160mb to 367mb after I DELETED a bunch of files to try & reduce the size.  The problem is getting serious.  I try & "save as" or create a new project and drag my essentials into a new project, but then I just get the spinning beach ball.  Any ideas?  My sequence is only about 10 minutes long, working in ProRes422 Proxy files.  Thanks!

Are those figures meant to be Megabytes because most of my projects of around 10 minutes are in the region of 5MB which is roughly equivalent to one JPEG photograph.
Is it actually the FCP Project file or some of the media or render files associated with it?
Are these the type of files you are referring to?
Could you post a screenshot showing the file and its size etc.
Is your problem just a fear of its "size" or has your computer ground to a halt?
How much free space is on your computer's hard drive?

  • Easiest way to color correct Final Cut project in Adobe After Effects CS4

Hello, I have a project in Final Cut Studio 2, that I would love to color correct in Adobe After Effects CS4.  What would be the easiest, highest quality, most direct way to import or color correct Final Cut project in Adobe After Effects?
    Thanks a lot

Export the FCP project, import it in Premiere Pro. From there, import the saved Premiere project into AE to retain the clips. How you get it back to FCP is anotehr matter, but simply rendering from AE should suffice. For everything else, Automatic Duck or BorisFX' XML Transfer would certainly offer a way to get this working in both directions....

how to change the class name after the project is created. In NetBeans, right click the class name either in the declaration or constructor, select Refactor --> Rename... and follow the dialog.
You can refactor --> rename anything that is not in a guarded block. For those, there are options via the properties window.

I have a project that crashed on me when I was about to finish it. When I try to reopen Final Cut Pro it wouldn't open until I took the project out of the Final Cut Project folder. Can somebody tell me if this is a problem that has a solution? I cannot go back to the project at all.

If you are using 10.0.3 or above Apple added a backups folder that for a little extra protection in cases like this. If you quite FCPX go to your Final Cut Pro Projects folder. Find the folder that has the project in question. If it has a backups folder there should be a file with a date stamp and .fcpproject extention, that is your back-up. Just move the back-up from that folder one folder up to the place where you deleted CurrentVersion.fcpproject from.  When I have had to do this I haven't renamed the backup but some people to recomend that you rename it to CurrentVersion.fcpproject and it seems to work both ways. Ofcourse it wont work if there is already a CurrenVersion file there you will need to delete that one first.
If you don't have the backups folder or there is nothing in it I am not sure if there is anything that can be done.
