How to add NAS for iTunes and backups
I would like to add NAS to home network of older iMac (OSX 10.7.4), win 7 notebook, soon to be added MacAir, plus iPad, iPhones, and sonos. I would like to move iTunes from iMac external drive to NAS and also use NAS for time machine backups of the 2 Macs and a backup for the win 7 notebook. Any recommendations on NAS for mostly Mac network? Can I use the NAS for both iTunes and for backups?
Most of the big brands support TM.. QNAP and Synology being the main contenders.
Moving itunes library is always dangerous and TM will not back it up.. since it is now on a network drive.. so take steps to ensure the library cannot be lost. This is of course far easier on a brand that has automatic backups and mirrored drives.. that the TC.

It sounds like you have a credit card saved to your Apple ID payment information and you would like it to be removed from the account and set the payment method to None. You should be able to do this with the following article:

Tap Settings on the Home screen.
Tap iTunes & App Stores.
Tap your Apple ID. (If you aren't signed in, enter your Apple ID and password and tap Sign In.)

Update the information that you want to change.
Tap the Done button when you're finished.

They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

catherine187As stated in the System Requirements, an iPhone 5 runs iOS 6. In order to sync to a computer you must have OSX 10.6.8 or later and iTunes 11 on the computer. If you can upgrade your MacBook to OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) you can purchase this version of OSX in the Apple Store. Most intel macs can run at least OSX 10.6.8. If your MacBook is a power pc Mac you are at the end of the supported operating systems and will not be able to upgrade the OSX or sync your iPhone 5.

Recovery Mode:
1. Turn off iPad
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad -

Do you have a local network setup either wired or wireless? If so, then have both computers connected to the network. Enable File Sharing on both computers in Sharing preferences. Select the startup drive on each computer. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window and check the box labeled, Shared Folder.
You can now keep both computers in sync by using a third-party backup/sync utility that will work with a network setup such as:

Developing for iTunes (and iPhone?)

I'm new here - Have been reading through the posts and thought I'd fire one at you.
I'm looking to develop an add-on for iTunes. As far as I can tell, there is no API available except for the visualiser. The only way to interact with iTunes is through AppleScript.
However this makes me wonder how an application such as AccuBeatMix [http://www.wildbits.com/accubeatmix> works... this application seems to have a pretty heavy level of interaction with iTunes - it is able to detect the end of songs and then adjust the volume and speed of the song appropriately.
In addition, it somehow places a check box on the main iTunes window.
How is all this possible just using AppleScript? I can see how, by constatnly querying the application, the detection of track position might be possible (although quite clunky?), but how about the track speed and the checkbox on the interface?
Also, another question... does AppleScript run on the iPhone and is the syntax the same? (ie. if my script runs on OS X will it run on the iPhone?) Presumably applications written in Cocoa will in principle work as iPhones use this framework as well..
Thanks in advanceThere is no interface for working with iPhone's iTunes/your existing iPhone music library through the iPhone. Theoretically OSX apps are easily convertible to iPhone apps, though i think it would require more than just a new compilation for the platform.
If you're looking to create just an OSX iTunes plugin, the iPhone wouldn't really do anything there, and I have no clue what's possible with that. -
