After I have added, say, Title to an existing pdf file, I was unable to save it. I am prompted to save it with a different file name or a different folder. Appreciate it for any advice. Joe

Joe, after going around in circles for a week trying to discover why I sometimes could save and other times not, I figured it out. It might be the same problem you are having. Believe it or not, I found that it depended on how I opened the PDF file that I wanted to write into (in my case, I had form fields in a "fillable" form). If I opened the file by pulling down the FILE menu on the Adobe Reader screen and clicking on OPEN, I could write into it and save it again. But if I opened the file by clicking on its name in some menu, so that the computer had to find which application could read that file and then open Adobe, when I wanted to save again after writing something in, I got the same error message that you described. I had no such problem on my wife's Mac. So I concluded it was a bug (surprise, surprise) in VISTA. So if you have VISTA (especially Home Premium), we might have found your problem. This kind of operation can't be done in Acrobat. You'll need some stand-alone tool, or maybe a plugin, to do it.

Hi Flávia,
Adobe PDF Pack is an online subscription--it definitely allows you to combine several files into one PDF file. For more information about PDF Pack, see Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack. If you don't have the full version of Acrobat, this is a great solution for combining PDF files.
However, if you're using Acrobat (not Adobe Reader), you combine files by following these steps:
Open a PDF file that you want to add pages to.
Click the Pages pane on the Tools panel (on the right side of the application).
Click Insert From File, and choose the file that you want to combine with the PDF that you opened in step 1.
Make any changes necessary in the Insert Pages dialog box--these settings determine where the new file will be inserted.
Click OK.

Please do below to combine files:
Log into https://createpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html with your Adobe ID and password
Select "Combine Files" from right pane
Click "Select Files" button
Select your files to combine
Enter a name for combined PDF file
Click "Combine" button
Click "Download" button in the progress bar to download the combined file to your computer.
To combine more than 12 files:
Combine 1-12th files and name it “combined 1” for example
Combine 13-24 files and name it “combined 2”
Keep doing step #1 and #2 and combine those combined files to combine all your files.
You can use Acrobat XI Pro to combine multiple files (more than 12 files) by following the steps below and you can download Acrobat XI Pro Trial version from www.adobe.com:

1. Launch Acrobat

The thread was started in early March and it's Mid-April, I know this very well. The OP of this thread posted a very common and simple question or maybe he/she would have resolved this. For an Adobe Acrobat user it's not at all difficult to combine multiple PDF files into one. But to combine PDF files full version of Adobe Acrobat is mainly required, otherwise PDF files can't be combined. For example, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. These simple steps are mainly required to combine PDF files:
Open Adobe Acrobat.
Click on Combine and click on Merge files into a single PDF.
A window will be appearing, click on Add Files and select the PDF files you want to combine.
Arrange the selected files in any order with the help of Move Up and Move Down button.
Now click on Combine File and the selected PDF files will be combined within a few seconds.
A new PDF file will be created. Click on Save As and name this new PDF file. Then, click on Save.
A new PDF file will be created and all the selected PDF files are combined in it. The steps shown above might be different in other versions of Adobe Acrobat. You will need to select the attachment and open in another app. If you do not have any apps that support PDF, Adobe reader for iOS is free.
For MS word files, you will need an app that supports those, like Documents to Go.
There is not generic file storage area in iOS, so you need to "open in" an app that supports that file type so that app can then add the file to its sandboxed local storage area.
If you need to markup the PDF, some good apps are GoodReader, iAnnotate, PDF Expert, GoodNotes - there are numerous others as well in the App Store.

PDF is an end destination format - although Acrobat is capable of making minor changes to a file (e.g. to correct typos) it is not a word processor or DTP application. Major changes must be done in the original document, and the PDF file re-exported.
You can copy text from a file by selecting it and right-clicking, or you can save the file as plain or formatted text. To make small changes to the text on a page, use the touchup tool - see the help file for more info.

I have a number of PDF files in my iBooks library. I just downloaded Adobe Reader for the iPad. I can't see how I can open those PDF files. The only thing I seem to be able to do with them is to open them from iBooks directly. Instead of cross-posting unformatted code you could have taken a look at the API, because there you might have come across a method named getLinks...Even though it's not documented, I really suspect that it will return the Hyperlinks on a given page.

You will need an app (or apps) on your iPad that is capable of reading the documents, as they will be saved with the app - if you don't have such an app then there is nothing to transfer them to or to read/access them.
One method of transferring them is toconnect your iPad to your computer's iTunes, select it's app tab, and then scroll to the bottom of it - you should the apps That you've got that are capable of file-sharing (if you've got any). Selecting/high-lighting one of them should then allow you to add files to it via the box to the right of it.
An alternative way to get the documents onto your iPad is if the app that you want to transfer them to has a wifi setting, which will then allow you to transfer the documents wirelessly. You can also send the documents to yourself as attachments and then use Mail's 'open in' facility to copy them into your chosen app.

You can prevent it from being printed by applying a security policy to it
in Acrobat. The rest can't be prevented, unless you spend a LOT of money
on DRM protection.
