How to add Unity connection Subscriber to Unity connection Publisher

I have configured 1 of my Unity Connection 8.5.1 server as Publisher and i have applied all the license on that server.
After doing so, I am trying to configure the second server as Subscriber but in the Initial configuration where it asks whether this server is a first node or not?
I picked no and i have entered all the first node information and click on to proceed.
It comes back with the attached error?
Any ideas what could be the issue?

Did you start with an earlier 8.0 version when building the Pub and then
upgrade/patch to 8.5 during the install? If so you may be hitting this bug;

Symptom:
After fresh installation of 8.5.1 software, we can notice several problem symptoms.
- Connection services and Connection DB does not start
- System cannot be accessed via web page
- Informix error messages for certain CLI commandsExample :- show cuc cluster statuscom.informix.asf.IfxASFException: Attempt to connect to database server (ciscounity) failed.

It is observed during fresh installation of Unity Connection product when installation was
started with earlier version of software and 8.5.1 software was applied as a patch during the setup process.
Workaround:This issue will be resolved in 8.5(1)su2 and Unity Connection 8.6 and later. So applying those versions of software as a patch during setup process will not encounter this problem.If you are installing affected version, first, perform a fresh installation of earlier version of software using the install media. Then after verifying the installation, proceed with the upgrade to 8.5.1su1 as a separate process.

Sub to the Pub as the first step
Configuring the Subscriber Server in a Cisco Unity Connection Cluster
To configure the subscriber server in the cluster, follow these steps.
Caution You must configure the subscriber server on the publisher server by using Cisco Unity Connection Administration before you install the subscriber server. See the "Configuring a Cisco Unity Connection 8.x Cluster" chapter of the Cluster Configuration and Administration Guide for Cisco Unity Connection at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/cluster_administration/guide/8xcuccagx.html.
Procedure
Step 1 If you configured Network Time Protocol on the publisher server, ensure that it is synchronized with an NTP server before you install the subscriber server. From the Command Line Interface on the publisher server, enter utils ntp status. Ensure that the output indicates that the server is synchronized with an NTP server.
Note If the publisher server is not synchronized with an NTP server, installation of the subscriber server will fail.
Note When you are installing Cisco Unity Connection on a virtual machine, you must specify an external NTP server.
Step 2 On the First Node Configuration window, read the Warning and make sure you have correctly configured the publisher server. To continue with the installation of the subscriber server, click OK.
The Network Connectivity Test Configuration window displays.
Step 3 During installation of a subscriber server, the system checks to ensure that the subscriber server can connect to the publisher server.
•To pause the installation after the system successfully verifies network connectivity, choose Yes.
•To continue the installation with a pause, choose No.
The First Node Access Configuration window displays.
Step 4 Enter the connectivity information for the publisher server and choose OK.
The system checks for network connectivity.
If you chose to pause the system after the system successfully verifies network connectivity, the Successful Connection to First Node window displays. Choose Continue.
Note If the network connectivity test fails, the system always stops and allows you to go back and reenter the parameter information.
The SMTP Host Configuration window displays.
Step 5 If you want to configure an SMTP server, choose Yes and enter the SMTP server name.
Note To use certain operating system features, you must configure an SMTP server; however, you can also configure an SMTP server later by using the operating system GUI or the command line interface.
The Platform Configuration Confirmation window displays.
Step 6 To start installing the software, choose OK, or, if you want to change the configuration, choose Back.
Step 7 When the installation process completes, you get prompted to log in by using the Administrator account and password.
Step 8 Complete the post-installation tasks that are listed in the "Version 8.x Post-Installation Tasks" section.

Blank popup when try to add an exchange subscriber with Unity 8.03 Exch 2003sp2

Hi,
I meet an issue when trying to add manually a new exchange subscriber using Unity 8.03 + external Exch 2003sp2:
After, filling up name, firstname... when I click on Add button, a blank popup appairs (whitout errors) and nothing happens (the subscriber is not created)
I've no issue when trying to import an existing exchange subscriber and Unity Tools DohPropTest succeeds in creating/deleting a subscriber on AD.
Any idee?

I already have a USB 2.0 hub attached to my MacPro because all the available slots are taken but I would prefer if the periferals were directly plugged into the Mac. Is there any other way to add extra USB 2.0 connections or better yet, FireWire connections to the MacPro?

Hi Rio,
I had a problem when I installed the PCI Express cards. The cards worked fine but there was a problem with automatically putting the system to sleep. If you have your system set to sleep automatically after a certain amount of time and install the cards then the system won't go to sleep automatically. I had this problem with an older G4 and my new MP. Apple told me that was normal and they expected it to be fixed in Leopard. I ended up returning the cards.
I'm not the expert, but that was my experience.

Cisco Unity 4.2 to Unity Connection 8.5...patch needed?

Hello All,
I would like to upgrade my Unity 4.2 to Unity Connection 8.5....(the latest version) however, I'm unsure if I need to do any upgrades on my Unity server first before I run the COBRAS tool and export the data. Is this a direct upgrade or do I need to do any patching on the unity server?
I've tried to read through the Upgrade guides but, I'm having a hard time getting a direct answer.

David has the correct answer there. But also, if you can, do not touch your existing 4.2 server. The last thing you want to do is repair a perfectly working Unity server because you wanted to patch it. You can install COBRAS on it to export the data no issues. If its a very large enviroment, Id even go as far as creating a DIRT backup of the Unity 4.2, and a new build of Unity 4.2 offline and DIRT restore so you can work with the data offline from the network. Some enterprises have crazy change controls and it may save you time in the end, even though it will take a little bit of time build the lab offline. If you havent used COBRAs, it will take you some time to get used to the import/export on what you want to do, how you want to do it, and how much time it will take to do the work. The Help files are extremely helpful, along with the Videos posted at ciscounitytools.com

Unity 7 upgrade to Unity Connection 10.5

Hello,
We need to complete an upgrade from Unity 7 to Unity Connection 10.5. Note: This is UNITY 7 and not Unity Connection 7. I understand that this will involve using the COBRAS tool to perform the upgrade.
The challenge is that no ESW/UCSS contracts exist, so of course the upgrade will have to be purchased. The upgrade guide for Unity Connection 8.x provides information on the process of migrating from Unity to UCXN however the upgrade guide for UCXN 10.5 does not. My question is whether or not it is possible to upgrade from Unity 7 directly to UCXN 10.5 in order to save from purchasing UCXN 8 (which may not even be possible anymore due to end of sale)?
Any info you may be able to provide to assist with this situation would be greatly appreciated.

You can use the COBRAS tool to take a backup from Unity 7.0 and restore it on Unity Connection 10.5. Consolidated Object Backup and Restore Application Suite (COBRAS) is a set of tools designed to allow administrators to backup all subscribers, call handlers, interview handlers, public distribution lists, and schedules and to restore some or all of that information onto another Unity or Connection server. It is specifically designed to allow for partial restores, restores onto different versions or products than the version that was backed up, and “merges” of data from multiple system backups.

How to add another Planning Server to the Shared Connections?

This is for version 11.1.2.1.103
Currently all of our users use Planning in Prod environment. I would like to open the UAT environment to a smaller set of users. UAT environment is in our Test environment. I couldn't figure it how to add the UAT environment to the current Prod Shared Connections. I was hoping it would be as easy as right click on the Prod Planning Server > click on Add > Add the UAT server > Click OK.
Instead I had to follow couple of steps to add the UAT environment to the SV:
1. SmartView > Options > Advanced > Edit Shared Connections URL with UAT environment URL > Click OK
2. Connect to Shared Connections > Planning
3. Right click on the Plan Type > Click on Add to Private Connections
4. Follow the same steps for the PROD Plan Type.
Now, I do have two environments under Private Connections and I do not need to follow the first step every time I want to switch between environments.
Was it a overkill or I did it right?

p.s. I just noticed that in Shared Connections, you can add another Essbase Server, but that's not an option for Planning.

You need to deploy the sun-batch-adapter.jar. Click on the resource adapter node, click the deploy button, navigate to {CAPSInstallRoot}/appserver/addons/caps/eways and choose the adapter. Follow the steps.

How to add newly imported audio - as a new storyline/angle to existing multi cam Project??

I have a 6 camera multi cam Music Video Project I have been working on in depth for 5 days. The "band" has sent me a new & improved .wav file to replace the audio I have been working with on one "song". I have imported it into the event, cannot figure out how to add it as a new angle (that I will manually sync on the timeline) and then make it the active audio monitor angle. I see ways to "connect it" but not how to have it appear in the 6up display & on its own story/time line in the precision editor. This is like reinventing the wheel. I am losing mu mind. Please help?

How to add a new filter in an existing web service method (BIWS - WEBI document)

Hello Experts, we have 7 web service query's connected to a dashboard. Basically it is one WSDL URL and 7 Get Methods...Web service queries are BIWS (via WEBI document instance). There are filters setup for each of these web service methods.
Recently there was a request to add 2 new fields to the webi document and also the 2 fields need to be included as filters in the 7 methods. I know there is an option to edit the method, but when i edit the method, i cannot find the 2 new fields in list to set as filters.Can anybody help me understand how to add filters to an existiing web service method? I do not want to delete the method and republish the block as web service.

Hi Ann,
The reason you are not able to see any of the new columns as a option to select in your web service block is because when you have published that block, they were not present. Add these two new objects in your block and publish it again. You will be prompted for duplication content. Select the highlighted block for duplicate and now you can see the new added objects in the filter option. Update and this will overwrite your published block. Please note, web services do appear to behave weirdly when used with dashboards so I request you to please try it in a separate test report first.
