What is the best way to format Videos for ipod touch? Used Quicktime Pro/ Export (iPhone setting). Videos aren't as crisp as downloaded Videos. Compressors /ipod video Setting also looks crapy (with bitrate med & High). What should I use?

Visualhub is a transcoder with multiple input and output formats with specific setting for iPod,iPod touch. Costs around $19-used to work great but recently everything I convert suffers audio crash than closes out the player. Hopefully they will fix it.
Elgato H.264 hardware transcoder is $99 dollars(USB stick that plugs in to Mac)-speeds up encoding of any file quicktime can handle, settings for apple tv, iphone/touch, ipod,Sony PSP. Worth the cost if you transcode a lot of video for the Touch or own an elgato HD tuner. Files work flawlessly and look great.
Mpeg streamclip-free. Works great, has presets or can customize the output.

  • How to add files to iPod Touch?

The manual states this is the procedure to add files to an iPod Touch:
Transfer a file from iPod touch to your computer:
1 Connect iPod touch to your computer.
2 In iTunes, select iPod touch in the Devices list, then click Apps at the top of the screen.
3 In the File Sharing section, select an app from the list on the left.
4 On the right, select the file you want to transfer, then click “Save to” and choose a destination on your computer.
Problem is, there is NO file sharing section at all in app section of iTunes.
I would like to put the PDF file of the iPod Touch manual on the device but see now way how to do so.
    Thanks for any help.

That section is talking about how to move files from the iPod to iTunes and not the other way around. First you need to import this PDF into your iTunes library.
The next thing you'll want to do if you haven't already, is download the iBooks app to your iPod.  From there, configure your iPod to sync the PDF from the iPod's Books tab in iTunes.
See these two articles for more information on using and downloading the iBooks app as well as how to sync Books/PDFs to your iPod.

I'm pretty sure composite cable will work with composite cables. There are two cables that apple does sell anyway

  • How to get apps for ipod touch 3g

I have ipod touch 3g. Recently i  have restored it without backing up. Other words, i lost all apps that i had. So, now i cannot install any apps because all of them have the newest IOS. Where can i find apps with old IOS for ipod 3g?
    Thank you.

    - First, yo really have a 2G iPod. A 2G can only go to 4.2.1 while a 3G can go to 5.1.1
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
    For the apps you had:
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
    To find compatible apps:

  • ITunes fails when trying to convert videos for iPod Touch

I have loaded videos taken from digital cameras (Fuji and Canon) into iTunes (latest version) and I can view them using the QuickTime reader (also latest version). Before syncing them to my iPod 4th gen, I go to advanced options and click on Convert for iPod or Iphone. After 1 or 2 seconds, iTunes craps out with what looks a protection exception. (iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for...)
When I click to find out more details, the Error signatures says Appname iTunes.exe, AppVer: 10.1.0.54 Mod Name: coreaudiotoolbox.dll ModVer: 7.9.4.0 Offset: 000b2f84.
I rebooted with same result. The same problem occured many times, with iPod connected or not and using different videos. I tried to download the test video from the Apple site, but nothing happens when trying to download.
I am on Windows XP, SP3, fully patched.
    Thanks for helping.

    OK. Problem solved.
I removed all Apple software using Add/remove software in Control Panel.
    Rebooted.
Used Advanced System Care (free edition) to scan and fix the registry. There were over 200 problems related to iTunes or QuickTime in the registry.
Downloaded a fresh copy of Itunes.
    Re-installed.
I can now convert videos to Ipod.
Hope this can help others having similar problems.

  • Hosting videos for ipod touch/iphone

I have created my family's website with iWeb and am using my Webserver folder to host the site. Everything runs great but I have put a bunch of family video on the site (converted with iTunes) with the intention of being viewed on my iPod touch away from home. The videos work fine on my home computer and at work. I don't want to take up space on my 8 Gb Touch and I thought hosting the videos on my website would be an easy work around.
My iPod Touch simply gives me a quicktime symbol with a slash through the play button when I navigate to the webpage. I've also tried iMovie and exported them as mpeg-4 and a few other Quicktime formats but none of them will work.
Do I need to configure something with Apache to allow the Touch to view these videos? If I am converting the videos with iTunes shouldn't they just play when I navigate to my webpage?

  • No sound when convert video for iPod Touch

I have videos that I recorded with my digital camera and when I "convert for iPod" the resulting video has no sound in iTunes or when I put it on my iPod.
Any ideas to what is wrong?

The file you are converting is muxed(audio and video are one track).
Quicktime is used by iTunes to do the conversions and quicktime does not like muxed files-so you get only video. Another possibility is that the audio is a weird codec that quicktime does not recognize.
Use a different transcoder-such as mpeg streamclip recommended above. I use it, it works very well. It has iPod presets.

  • How to add video to ipod

I downloaded a couple of videos today
and I have the PQ DVD.
I follow all the instructions everything works with the PQ DVD . then when I try to update my ipod to put the video on my ipod it doesn't go on? whats the problem??
    I have a 30gb video ipod
    thanks

Hi. I was having the same problem until today so i thought id share some insight. You need Quicktime Pro or iMedia HD to convert your movies etc so they are supported by iTunes. I did not have either of these but i managed to download "Jodix free iPod Video Converter" from www.versiontracker.com - it allows you to choose which files you would like to convert. After they have been converted, all you have to do is open the file with iTunes, then drag the file onto your iPod. Whalah. Hope it works. thanks
