How to adjust audio balance (left or right speaker) in Logic 9?

Hi,
I am playing a midi file with several instruments in Logic. Some of the instruments seem to output from the left speaker only, while others are from the right speaker only.
In each instrument there is a small circular graphic with a number (its either -50 or +50 depending on the instrument). It seems that changing this value adjusts the balance:
ie. -50 = left speaker only
+50 = right speaker only
0 = Both speakers equally.
After I change the values to 0, the audio plays through both speakers (this is what I want). But the moment I rewind the midi file, all instruments go back to their previous values of -50 or + 50. How do I make sure that the settings remain the way I want, and don't go back to what they were when I rewind?

It seems likely that the Regions created from the MIDI file have embeded Pan (CC10) and likely Volume (CC7) messages. Open each and every region in the Event list, and delete all CC10 (& CC7) events.

If you have two audio clips of the same duration, you can select (highlight) both, then hit Option l (lowercase L) to make them a stereo pair. The pan will be set to -1 indicating that channel 1 will be routed to the left output channel and channel 2 will be routed to the right output channel.

HP DV7T Quad: Audio is louder from right speaker then left speaker!

I've seen this issue posted on other sites like notebookreview, notebookforums etc but there doesn't seem to be any fix for it...which makes no sense to me. The right speaker in my notebook is louder then the left one is. The only way to compensate for the problem is to lower the "balance" in the sound properties for the right speaker (I have it all the way down to 70 if you can believe that!) Now my audio sounds even between the left and right speaker. I think it's ashame that seems to be the only fix for the problem. Not sure if this is a driver issue or a hardware issue.
NVidia installs audio drivers to the computer when installing the video drivers (which I still don't understand why...I thought NVidia was a graphics company?) Then I install the IDT drivers/software afterwards. HP has verified that this is correct so everything on my end is up to date...minus of course offical drivers for the 320M video card that everyone is still waiting on!
Any solutions to this?

How do I deal with audio, seperate left and right and make each stereo--CS5

I have a two mono mike recording which I can seperate into two seperate audio timeline tracks one is now left track in a seperate timline and the other is right in the other timeline, how do I make each of these tracks then into psuedo stereo tracks? Do I have to go to Soundbooth or is there a simple way in Premiere?

Bill G, tell me what I am missing and I'll use your method. I have what I think you are describing, and I don't understand the need to do anything special, if you use channel mapping.
I record a lav on one channel, and a different wireless mic on the other. When captured, I have a clip that PR would normally treat as a single stereo track.
BEFORE putting any clips on the timeline, select all clips and set channel mapping. Set each channel to mono. Now PR treats these as two mono tracks. The output for each mono is the master track, which in my project is stereo. I can change "volume" for each track in the mixer, etc. but each channel is provided to the left and right master output.
I didn't go back to sort out what you had, but if you had two stereo tracks, one each with a left and right channel only, I can see that you needed some other solution.

APE 7 Audio Fill Left, Fill Right

What is the trick to make this effect work. I have a video clip with only one channel. I need it in two channels. I select the clip and apply Audio Fill Right and nothing happens. I also tried Fill Left. How do you apply this effect, please.
BTW Is the top channel on the time line the left or right channel.

The Fill Right/Fill Left Effect only works when one has a 2-channel source/Track. With 1-channel, there is nothing to Fill.
If your Project has a 2-channel Master, probably the easiest way to get a dual-mono (2-channel from a 1-channel source) is to just duplicate that 1-channel source. It will then go to into the 2-channel Master. If one wants to adjust the separation a bit, that is easily done with the Audio Mixer, and the Balance for each of the two 1-channel, mono Tracks.

How to make track work in both left and right speaker?

i have an audio track with 2 speakers that each had a lav mic on them. one was recorded into left channel and the other the right channel. so of course when i play back each of their voices only come out of one speaker. pretty new to audition so how do i fix the track so that they each come out of both speakers? I have to say that, although not uncommon, for TV it depends quite a lot on how things are shot. In a standard interview situation where you might have a 2-shot to establish (with a definite left and right position) then a close up of the interviewee then a cutaway of the reporter and so on, panning can become very confusing and it tends to be better to just put everything in the centre.
Radio is easier because you don't have to be aware of what pictures are showing--but, even there care needs to be taken especially since, as Steve says, a lot of listening is on ear buds or headphones which accentuate any panning. Even in radio, though, choices have to be careful...for example, let's say the host starts with an interview where he's panned slightly right and the guest slightly left. So far, so good. However, then the next two stories are just studio reads...does the host stay panned slightly right for consistency or does he move to the centre possibly causing confusion?
I'm not saying never give positioning clues in a radio or TV mix, just that you always have to be aware of the bigger picture.

I watched a video on how to adjust video duration/speed over time, using time remapping and keyframes, but it does not seem to affect audio for some reason. Is there a way to adjust the speed/duration of audio over time like you can with video?

How to generate a sound (tone) without clicking noise, and how to select left or right speaker

Hi All,
I am trying to write write a VI that generates a pure tone of specific frequency and volume, then sends that tone to one speaker or the other (Left or right) for use in teaching students about audiology (those hearing tests you may have taken where you hear a noise in one ear or the other). I have created a rather primitive VI to accomplish this, but I am plagued by a few issues:
1) At some frequencies but not all, the VI generates a clicking sound at the start and stop of the tone (I believe this is related to repeating configuration and call of the hardware, but I don't know how to set this up ahead of time and avoid it - and why doesn't it create the clicking sound at all frequencies?).
2) At some frequencies (14000Hz and higher), I don't hear the tone at all on my computer speakers (I still hear the click before and after, but I don't hear the tone. I know what you might be thinking, but no, this is not a hearing deficit on my part :-)
3) I would like to be able to direct the tone selectively to the left speaker or right speaker, but right now my VI only allows me to pick the "number of channels" (for which I presume "2 channels" means both left and right), but I don't know how to selectively pick only one channel or the other.

Thanks for the subVI. With it I hear clicks most of the time except on some of the low amplitude outputs. Interestingly, at frequencies above 10 kHz where my hearing is poor, when I do hear something it is a non-pure sound with a dominant frequency lower than the generated frequency. I am not sure whether it is something in the sound system on my computer or in my ear/brain/mind acoustic analysis system. Here is what I get with my bad ears.
This is what the graph on Generate Sound-subVI shows when I hear the lower pitched sounds. Although the frequency is low enough that it is not aliased, I suspect that I am hearing the envelope rather than the underlying carrier.
I have not played with the windowing yet to see if that reduces the clicks. They could be generated by the Sound Write turning sound on and off.

I still do not understand. Do you mean the Top-Level Navigation (2 level navigation bar at top), or do you mean Page Toolbar (with name of page and history/breadcrumbs)?

You have to use the screen and tap where you want you cursor to land. You can usually hit very close if not in the exact spot or drop your cursor slightly ahead of the spot then use you backspace to get to the exact location, then type the correction.

Audio Effect - Left to Right Audio?

I love the new audio effects in iMovie but it would be great if there was a simply one that will allow you to make your audio channel either left or right. Or have one like you do with the rooms that just doubles the channels without any room changes.

So am I right I can not switch between two audio channels in iMovie 11?
I have two audio tracks in my video files: left - english (usually), right - russian (usually).
I need to do the following:
1. In one file I need to leave only one track and expand this one onto two tracks to make the stereo effect.
2. In other file I need to switch between left and right tracks from time to time (the languages are changing between channel in this file): sometime I need to leave left track, sometime - right.
I can not do this in iMovie 11?
May I do this in Final Cut Express?

My iMac sound keeps resetting to come out of left or right speaker only. Why?

I have a new iMac 5k Retina. With this purchase I also started using some speakers through the headphone jack. I've noticed this annoying pattern that quite often the sound from the iMac keeps resetting to come out of the left speaker only or the right speaker. I keep having to reset it to balance them.
Is there a way to stop this?

Changing track from left to right speaker

I recently acquired a Macbook with Garageband '09. I made a recording with two mics, one recording a guitar, and one recording a drum kit (They were both recorded at once on the same track). Since I had set the input to stereo, the guitar (mic 1) played through the left speaker, and the drums (mic 2) played through the right speaker. I would like to have mono sound, but I still want to use two mics to provide better clarity and prevent spill.
Is there a way to keep the track I have (guitar=left/drums=right) and perhaps duplicate it and switch channels from left to right creating a mono sound? Basically one track would be guitar=left/drums=right and the other would be guitar=right/drums=left. Or is there perhaps a way to switch a stereo recording to mono once recorded?

I would like to make a track mono, but do not see where in the "pane" I can do that. The only option I have found is to change the input from stereo to mono. Since I have audio that is already recorded, and is unfortunately only on the left track, is there a way to get the mix down to be mono so that I'm getting the audio in both speakers?

I want to adjust the audio level using the pen tool on an audio track of the timeline... and I've done it before, but I can't for the life of me remember how. I've imported a voiceover, and have a separate track with the background music. How do I adjust the music level up/down at the point where the narration kicks in/out?

Click on the Clip Overlays button (the zig-zag line at the bottom left of the Timeline window). That will give you a pink line in the middle of your audio tracks where you can use the pen tool.
