How to adjust audio duration/speed over time?

I watched a video on how to adjust video duration/speed over time, using time remapping and keyframes, but it does not seem to affect audio for some reason. Is there a way to adjust the speed/duration of audio over time like you can with video?

Oh you need to do it in AE? That's... kinda.. unneeded but okay. Thanks!

How do i make an audio track play slower or faster? is there a way to drag out the length to make it slower or squish it up to make it quicker. i use to use imovie back i high school and remember it being easy like that. you could drag the clip to fit with the video exactly and force the speed to play to fit.
how do i go about adjusting my audio clips' speed? I'm using imovie HD 6

  • Adjusting Bar to Composition Over Time

First and foremost I would like to ask for patience in reading and responding to this post/querry, as I'm not sure I completely understand how to even ask the question itself. That being said, I'll begin.
I'm scoring a film. Picture is locked. I composed a piece that generally falls under a 3/4 time signature. I say generally because there are certain breaks in the composition. Once the beat of the composition begins again, however, it no longer falls in time with the click track (due, of course, to the ambient break). However, the composition, of course, has to be kept in line with the picture, so I can't adjust it to the tempo/beat/click.
I would have to adjust the click to IT - to where the song's downbeat falls again after the beat starts back up. and all this over time - that is to say doing this in such a manner that it does not hamper the alignment of the previous portions of the beats.
How can I do this (in Logic)?
And, for that matter, is this even the right methodology? I mean I know this isn't the how-do-you-score-a-film? forum, but I know that the issue that I'm having is a common enough one when scoring a film - so I'm asuming that either Logic does indeed have a very adequate way of dealing with/addressing this, or that there's actually a much better way of going about composing one's score so as to not run into this problem.
Thanks one and all in advance (and as always) for all the help and support,
    Javier Calderon

Hmmm . . . Okay, Ashermusic (thanks for the quick response, by the way) I just looked this up:
"The meter of a piece of music is the repetitive arrangement of strong and weak pulses in the rhythm."
That being said, I'm not sure if a change in meter is what's needed. I don't necesarilly need a change from a 3/4 beat at 150bpm to a 4/4 beat at 150bpm, but, instead, a manner to shift the downbeat over just a smidgen in order to fall on the new position of the changed composition (i.e. after the ambient break).
Tempo changes don't seem to do it because . . .
wait a minute . . . as you mentioned, maybe if I lock the region and then put in a tempo change it might work? I'll give it a try and report back here . . .
(as you may be able to tell, I'm a bit confused as to how exactly to go about accomplishing what I'm trying to do).

  • Audio performance deteriorating over time until Mavericks reinstall

I'm on the latest Mavericks, maxed-out 12-core Mac Pro. I use Steinberg Nuendo as my main audio DAW. It works like a dream... for a while... But after a few weeks it starts slowing down until Nuendo is almost unusable. Larger projects which normally run just fine become unworkable or very sluggish because they just overload the CPU, as if I was working with a 5 year old computer. This issue specifically targets audio performance, whether I use internal audio or my audio interface (UAD Apollo).
I've tried removing/uninstalling all non essential drivers, extensions etc, and reinstalled/updated everything I can't work without to the latest versions. I've tried unplugging everything except 1 monitor, keyboard, mouse and USB authorization sticks. Nothing makes a difference. It's like there's a virus that progressively slows down my system, but I have found no virus on my system, at least via MacKeeper.
Here is my temporary solution: Every few weeks I reinstall Mavericks (right now 10.9.3) via the Apple online recovery system (Command-R on startup). The problem goes away completely and my Mac Pro is blazing fast again... For a few weeks, until audio performance deteriorates and I have to reinstall Mavericks again. Apple tech support originally advised me to reinstall Mavericks on top of itself, and I was really happy the problem was fixed, but I didn't know it would keep sneaking in over and over again.
This is the third time I have to reinstall Mavericks via online Recovery, and I am still baffled as to what could possibly get worse over time in this manner, and also specifically target audio performance! It's like some sort of cache is getting filled-up somewhere and overloading some of the computer's functions over time. Whatever this is, it gets reset during a reinstall.
If anyone has any ideas or hunches, they would be really appreciated!
PS: I've posted the same issue in the "Mac Pro" section to make sure I get the most coverage. I don't expect too many answers since not too many people have the Mac Pro yet and this is a targeted inquiry.

  • How to adjust audio level on timeline?

    Hi,
I want to adjust the audio level using the pen tool on an audio track of the timeline... and I've done it before, but I can't for the life of me remember how. I've imported a voiceover, and have a separate track with the background music. How do I adjust the music level up/down at the point where the narration kicks in/out?
    Thanks very much!
    Vic

Click on the Clip Overlays button (the zig-zag line at the bottom left of the Timeline window). That will give you a pink line in the middle of your audio tracks where you can use the pen tool.

  • How to adjust audio balance (left or right speaker) in Logic 9?

    Hi,
I am playing a midi file with several instruments in Logic. Some of the instruments seem to output from the left speaker only, while others are from the right speaker only.
In each instrument there is a small circular graphic with a number (its either -50 or +50 depending on the instrument). It seems that changing this value adjusts the balance:
ie. -50 = left speaker only
         +50 = right speaker only
         0 = Both speakers equally.
After I change the values to 0, the audio plays through both speakers (this is what I want). But the moment I rewind the midi file, all instruments go back to their previous values of -50 or + 50. How do I make sure that the settings remain the way I want, and don't go back to what they were when I rewind?
    Thanks.

    Hi
It seems likely that the Regions created from the MIDI file have embeded Pan (CC10) and likely Volume (CC7) messages. Open each and every region in the Event list, and delete all CC10 (& CC7) events.

  • How to change audio/video speed

    Hi,
I'm trying to change audio/video playback speed, so I could
play it faster, but I haven't find any solution.
It has to be changed dynamicaly - there is no possibilty of
    making normal, fast playing file.
    Thank you
    LN

If you convert the video into an SWF and embed it playing
through the frames, you should be able to "skip" frames or pause
between frames through flex to increase/decrease playback speed
    through the MovieClip.gotoAndStop method.
Not sure this would work or not. Just a thought.
    Happy coding.

  • How to adjust scroll bar speed

hi all, could really use help, can't figure this out...the
scroll is super fast, how can I slow down the up and down buttons
as well as the middle thumb srcoller?
    code attached!

Hello I am using JTextArea in FlowLayout and getDocument() is not found in
JTextArea. The FlowLayout has nothing to do with the inner workings of the JTextArea. If you have placed the JTextArea inside a JScrollPane, then scrolling is enabled. Remember to use correct arguments for the JScrollPane (vertical vs. horizontal scrolling).
The getDocument() method IS in fact found in JTextArea. You might want to check out the API documentation. (JTextArea extends JTextComponent which includes this method).

  • How can I adjust the clip speed in the editing window of Premiere Elements 11?

In former versions of Premiere Elements I could change the function while pushing the corner of a clip in the editing window: it was not cutting only, but I could also use it to adjust the speed of a clip (clicked the clock icon, after that the speed of a clip was adjusted perfectly).
But in Premiere Elements 11 this funktion seems to have gone: Now the timeline in the editing window seems to have the cutting function only!
Yes, I still can use the function "prolong time" (or whatever it is called in English, I use the German version), but in this I just can guess what percentage would fit and it's a very hard "try & error" part to get it right. In the former version the speed was adjusted "automatically" to fit the duration the clip needs – that was way more comfortable.
So, is this function really gone? I couldn't emagine why! Or how is this done now?
Couldn't find any post or video, explaning how to do that now.
No: The new "time zone" feature is not the same: it's not adjusting the needed speed rate automatically.
And by the way: There is a bug in that fuction: When I once added a new time zone, I can't remove it – clicking "set back" (or reset) doesn't do anything, the time zone stays where it is and is not deleted at all! I'm using a Windows 7 Ultimate system (64 bit) ...
I really would appreceate if someone could tell me how to adjust the clip speed perfectly to the needed duration of a clip!
    Thanks in advance!

    SG
An interesting point that you point out
"However, the drag-to-size method of adjusting Time Stretch has indeed been removed from version 11."
I am assuming that you are referring to an earlier version of Premiere Elements,  having a Time Stretch icon (clock icon) above the Timeline to select, and then perhaps, with the mouse cursor, dragging on the end of the video clip to increase its duration. The keyboard shortcut to select the "clock icon" in thar instance is X. If you look at Premiere Elements 11 Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Timeline Window/, you will mysteriously find "Time Stretch Tool" command with a keyboard shortcut X. And, if you look at Premiere Elements 11 Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Applications/Time Stretch, you will find "Time Stretch" with a keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R. Bottom line: I have not gotten the keyboard shortcut X to work in Premiere Elements 11 in this regard, but the Ctrl+R does to bring up the Time Stretch dialog to do the job.
In accord with this business of what is and what isn't...the good old Razor Tool. That disappeared from sight a long time ago. Yet users were able to use that in later versions using the keyboard shortcut C. Now for me that "C" does not work to change the mouse cursor to a razor for clip splitting at the Timeline level in Premiere Elements 11 in spite of the fact that Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows/Timeline Window continues to show Razor Tool command with keyboard shortcut C.
On the good news side of things, if one trims a clip in the Preview Window, one is still able to drag that trimmed clip to the Timeline (Expert view) and drag it out on either of its edges with the mouse cursor to recover the whole clip. And, the mouse cursor is still going to be that red ] with a double edged black horizontal arrow going through it.

  • How can I create a ramp function, that continuously increases the voltage over time?

I do not have the option of upgrading to a full version or version 7, so I do not have the ramp vi. How can I increase the voltage over time, because I don't think that ramp vi even has a time element.

The ramp.vi can easily be duplicated with a few wire strokes, see e.g. attached diagram image.
(Of course, in your case you don't even need the ramp output, just update the voltage in a timed fashion as shown. Just add your own trimmings).

  • Possible to increase rate of rotation over time?

I need to simulate something similar to the effect of a car wheel rotating, strictly in 2-D, a totally flat side-view. The complication is that I need the "wheel" to be stopped at first, then slowly ramp up speed over time until it reaches a maximum rate. Is it possible to increase the rate of rotation over time? I have tried creating a constant-rate rotation, then exporting as a Quicktime and applying a speed ramp to the mixdown. This looks terrible.
    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Also, I may post this over at the FCP board, in case anyone there has an idea.
    John

Actually, that's not true for FCP or Motion. You can set a keyframe at 0 rotation, and then another at the point where you want the rotation to be a full speed and a third keyframe at the end of your animation. Then just right-click the 1st keyframe in the keyframe editor and choose Interpolation: Bezier.
From there, it's just a matter of adjusting the curve until you have the ramp that you're looking for.
In FCP, you can add keyframes in much the same way in the Motion tab. Then you right-click the 1st keyframe and choose Smooth from the menu. This will give you a bezier handle that you can adjust to create a ramp.
I suggest using Motion though as it's a little easier to add and adjust keyframes.

  • How to Make Audio Video Broadcasting Programe using JMF

hi i m newto java programing i wan to know can any one help me out how to transimit audio and video over netwrok from one pc to other computer voer the network . i m using my webcam to transmit video can any one of u email me the code if any one has made such application like this .. my email is [email protected]

Well you've found the root of your problem. It's not necessary the JMF. It's when you make a jar file, you need to include the dependencies. I don't think it' legal to include the JMF in a program you sell or distribute, so be careful there.
However, to include dependencies in jar files is not a hard task. The simplest method is to unjar the dependency and place it at the top or your classpath; then make a jar that includes both your program, and the dependency.
A more long term solution is to use a build system such as ant or maven to create the package using available scripts or plugins. The "Uberjar" plugin for maven comes to mind.

  • Adjust audio levels between keyframes

    Hello,
What is the shortcut to adjust audio levels between keyframes (in sequence)? I know the shortcut CTRL ] [ , but this shortcut adjust audio level for entire audio.
I also know I can drag up and down the levels between keyframes using mouse. But some months ago I saw a tip ( from Steve martin) showing
how to adjust audio levels between keyframes using a shortcut..and better,in RT. but I forgot what is the shortcut.
    thx

there is no shortcut command for this in FCP, you need to use the mouse to drag the audio level up or down
perhaps its another application your thinking of?

  • Time Capsule Wi-Fi slows down over time

    Hi,
My Time Capsule 2 TB (running firmware 7.4.2, which is the latest version for my model Time Capsule) has an annoying habit of running slower and slower over time, eventually requiring a restart...
It becomes worse and worse gradually. At some point, transfer rates get very slow, websites take ages to load, connections even start to drop... and that's when people connected to my network start asking: "What the %($) is going on?". I then restart the Time Capsule, and everything is back to normal (for a while).
This repeats about once every month. I'm not satisfied with one month of continuous uptime on a Wi-Fi base station... I'm used to such devices running for a year or two before they may eventually require a reboot.
Has anyone else had this problem? Should I try to exchange the Time Capsule for the new model (running firmware 7.5.1)? It seems like Apple isn't planning to release a firmware update for the older model, even though it's still under warranty and obviously has a few glitches...
    Tim

I've got this exact same problem with the older Time Capsule. Mine drops to around 10% of the original speed over time. Mine requires a reboot too.
I was thinking of buying a new one, thanks for saving my money.
