How to adjust time before Mac sleeps?

I recently started with Mountain Lion and can't find a way to set the amount of time before the computer goes to sleep.
I looked in System Preferences -> Energy Saver  and it has a slider to set the time before turning off the display and a box to keep the computer from sleeping but nothing to set the time before it sleeps?
I'd like to know when my computer will go to sleep and sometimes I may have it doing something like copying a large amount of data from one drive to another or running a batch process and a large number of photographs where I need the computer up and running for a few hours.
Is it possible to adjust the time before the Mac sleeps in Mountain Lion?  I used to do it in Leopard and Snow Leopard.

Hi Eric.  No, it doesn't look like that.  It looks like this (attached screen shot).
I'm using OSX 10.8.5

  • I Lose Internet connection each time my Mac Sleeps

I have an iMac 21" late 2009 model.
Since I installed Lion, every time my Mac "nods" after leaving it a bit, after waking up it will take about a minute for the internet connection (dsl ethernet) to come back. It's frustrating, I turn on my mac to browse the web, I open Safari but then I have to sit there waiting for the internet connection to come back.
Something is wrong and it's annoying..

If you had mountain lion, you could've used a feature called power nap. It keeps networking on even when the mac is asleep.
On other OS, I guess its bound to disconnect all networks when it goes to sleep You can try an app called Caffeine that doesn't let it go to sleep.

  • After restart I have to power up several times before Mac Book Pro boots

Just got a new MBP 2.4 GHz with 2 GB ram. It started up fine, but I notice that after restarting (after software updates and the like), I often have to power up several times before it will actually boot up.
When it doesn't boot up, I get a gray screen and the light on the front of the machine blinks 3 times, pasues for about 3 secs then repeats the 3 blinks. It does this until I hit the power button, at which point it will immediately shut off. I wait a few seconds then hit the power button again to start up, if I am lucky it will show me the apple logo and boot up. if I am not lucky, it will do the same 3 blink cycles again.
I've had as many as 10 tries before it would boot up some times. This really ***** because I just bought the machine 1 week before the 2.6 GHz machine were released. Had I even known newer ones were one the radar, I would have waited!!!!
Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

ya call apple, but you may want to try resetting pram and SMC (turn off machine take out battery and power adapter hold power button for 5 seconds and ur smc is reset, put it all back turn on and hold command+ optionpr until you hear the 3rd chime and your pram is reset)
apple may also ask you to run an apple hard ware test, take you original gray dvds that came with the machine and boot from it while holding d and run the extended test and see if you get an error. that will help make things go faster if you do all that first before calling apple

  • How to extend time before sleep mode initiates ?

I just want to change the timing before it goes to sleep so the screen stays active whiteout me putting in input of some kind.  My computer times out very quickly while I'm doing work so I then have to login when I go back to use it. It doesn't last longer than a couple of minutes (if that). I just got this MacBook Air and am unfamiliar with MacBooks. Sorry if it is something easy.

  • Since downloading Mtn.Lion my epson printer doesn't work correctly & the entire system seems to be slower plus my iMac now disconnects from my wifi every time the mac sleeps. Can anyone help me with these issues?

I am having problems with my Imac (approx 1 yr old) every since I downloaded (from the App.Store) Mountain Lion.  I am a working mom with 3 toddlers.....I have very little time to work on the computer which I primarily use for photograhpy needs.  I am not computer savvy enough to figure out how to "fix" the new issues/problems and am frustrated.  I am hoping someone can help me........
Issues just since downloading Mountain Lion:
    1)  My Epson R2400 printer is not printing properly.  It wouldnt print at all from CS5 the first 2 days.  Then just started printing.  The prints aren't nearly as good as they used to be.  I just installed Photoshop Elements 10 and have been able to print but the prints are just awful. I printed a test page and it was perfect.  I've triple checked the settings in the print dialogue box to ensure the correct paper is chosen, etc.  I've never let the printer manage the color before but it is the only option that gives a mediocre print at best.
I've gone to Epson.com.   It says to update driver through Apple for Mtn. Lion.  According to my computer I have no updates.  Printer is connected via USB. Changed the ports, turned printer on & off.  Emailed epson & they said to reset the print queue, which I did.  Restarted the IMac Still no luck.  (The error message I got when trying to print from CS5 is "filter failed." But, as stated before it just started printing today as I was typing this.
I print out pics quite a bit and it seems the only time I have ever had problems is when I upgraded the OSX system. Why is that??  When I upgraded to 10.7 is when I first realized my print quality went down.
    2)  Now every time I "wake" up my computer it has become offline and has to go through the steps to reconnect to my wifi.  Never did that before Mtn.Lion.  I purchased the Airport Extreme Dec 2011.  My computer was always connected before the update.  Now I have to scroll down & pick my network & wait for it to connect before proceeding.   I double checked preferences and it is set up to check for updates automatically.  What is that about??
    3)  It just seems that my system overall is slower.  I love my mac but I am frustrated because I don't have the free time needed to do all this problem solving.  I just need it to work properly when I have a few minutes to work on a picture.  I imagine there are other issues, but these are the only  2 areas I've focused on since the upgrade.
I've read different views/feedback on Mtn Lion but haven't come across the printer issue or the wifi connection issue.
Can anyone direct me towards a solution? I really appreciate it!

I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.

On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

  • How to adjust time between songs during playback?

I remember being able to adjust the time (space) between songs during playback. Can't seem to find that any longer. Is this adjustment only available when you burn a CD? Thanks.

This article seems to suggest you can adjust the time with crossfade.  It mentions a slider you can adjust.  I'm not on my Mac at the moment so can't verify.

  • How to adjust Time zero

    Hello,
I've a data file with a time history from -1 sec. to 4 sec.
Is it possible to modify the time zero in such a way to have the T=0 at the beginning of a certain event?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Giova,
Sure.  First you need to find the row/time that the event occurs, then you need to subtract that time value from all the values in the time channel. You can use the ChnFind() function to find the row, then the ChD() command to find the time value for that row, then the ChnLinScale() function to subtract that time value to zero the time access at that point.

  • Time machine stops when mac sleeps?

I'm considering buying Time Machine. I had tried a few different online backups. I've read when the mac sleeps, Time Machine stops. If that's the case, how will you ever get a good backup? Backups can take several hours and my mac goes back and forth from home to office everyday, and it goes to sleep in transit. How then, does this all work?

In the "Energy Saver" part of System Preferences, you can set your "Sleep" options. I have my options set up to put the computer to sleep when it has been inactive for 10 minutes. I have a MacBookPro connected wirelessly to a TC used for my TM backup.
Before going to bed (we're talking about ME, not the Mac!), I put the screen brightness to minimum (back-light turns off) and leave everything connected. When I return next morning I have a stream of back-ups made each hour during the night. The system works.
Note that it is good practice to leave the Mac turned on all night (at least occasionally) because there is a process that will go and clean up the system very early in the morning. This way I get both the maintenance and the back-ups. Note that after a day or so, TM compresses all the hourly backups into daily, and after a month, into weekly. This series of hourly back-ups don't take more disk space because (apart from system maintenance) little happens ( ) during that time ...

  • In Mountain Lion how to keep Dashboard from opening each time awakening from sleep?

Every time awakening from sleep and/or screen saver, the dashboard screen comes up as the opening display, how can I stop this?

    Nope.
If you launch Mail, you get mail.
You can only stop if from loading if your DON'T launch Mail.
You can also decide how much to have it load, and how far back.
The other option is to turn off Wifi before you launch Mail.

You may have to research any newer possibilities in trouble-
shooting or resolving issues by use of iPhoto Support page.
Since I don't use iPhoto as a primary editor or storage, the
details on the topic aren't so good. I prefer ToyViewer editor.

Sounds like the Time Machine Local Backup.  Try turning Time Machine Off in System Preferences to verify.
See: OS X Lion: About Time Machine's "local snapshots" on portable Macs
    But, your real problem is
I forgot to mention that I tried to use Disk Utility to Verify Disk, but it cannot. I get red errors that say the MacHD is corrupt and needs to be repaired. It says that in order to do this I need to use the Disk Utility on the install disk, but Lion doesn't have one!
Boot into Lion's Recovery (Hold ⌘R on Boot), select Disk Utility and then select Macintosh HD and click [Repair Disk]
