How to adjust VCORE in MSI Pro-E X58?

Hey guys; I've built my first rig and I'm interested in overclocking the i7 I've bought. I've already read a lot on OC'ing and the potential hazards that come with it. In any case, I own the MSI Pro-E X58 and was looking to OC. I've steadily increased the BCLK using the default voltages, but when I hit 3.4 GHz (with a BCLK of 170), Windows crashed after about an hour of P95. I opened the cell menu in the BIOS looking to bump the voltage up a notch, but am a bit confused as to how to do this. Under the cell menu, I noticed the "CPU Vcore" at 1.328 V; I find this odd because I thought the default voltage setting for the Core i7 was 1.2? Also, I'm somewhat unsure as to what the "CPU Voltage" setting does; is this linked wit the "CPU Vcore" setting? My best guess so far is I can change the CPU Voltage to +/- from the CPU Vcore but I'm not entirely positive. Any help would be great.

QPI is 1.20V default on the Pro-E. Your CPU Vcore of 1.328V's will need to be bumped a bit to remain stable. CPU V./Vcore, basically the same thing. Just bump up the CPU V. a step at a time until the system remains stable. Be sure Spread Spectrum in bios Cell Menu is disabled. Remember to keep an eye on the RAM speed as you increase bclk. That can be another source for instability.

  • MSI Pro-E X58 help plz plz plz

So I have six GB of ddr3 memory installed on my core I7 930.
I'd just gotten off the phone with MSI they told me it was a memory problem as i had 1333 ram, it was meant to be oc'd and i need to do that if i want it to work rite.
the whole reason i called msi in the first place was because my computer will randomly give me a black screen where i have to force a hard reset. or a gray screen with vertical lines going down i.
so my question to you the MSI community is:
where can i learn to OC my mem on a x58 pro-e motherboard?
also what do you think is the problem ?
p.s its not the video card i tested it on another pc
also it is not an OS problem Ive tried multiple OS , EX Ubuntu , windows vista , windows 7 and even xp

I'd be more inclined to set the CR set to 2T(2N) with Intel.
Very true of the P55's & some other Intel chipsets, but not my experience with the X58. Every rig I've built for myself or family & friends performed perfectly setting CR 1N(T). This was using Corsair brand exclusively.

  • MSI PRO e DEAD ?!?

    Hi,
Under is my post from tech powerup. So as last thing I post it on your forum.
    Quote
    Hi,
I need some advice what to do ...
Today, I turned on my pc (see specs watched some news, facebook ,etc.)
I noticed that I have 1 left FAN for my PC from work (got from some new case, quiet with normal connecotr SYSFAN), so I wanted to install it because I needed more airflow .
So installed turned on , saw that POWERLED is not working. Checked and it was plugged. So I turned on AND no BEEP !
Tried agan NO BEEP (ofc normal booting sound of Corsair H50, etc) after 5 sec It rebooted and again no beep. It stays just like that (turned on).
    ANY ideas ???
OFC no post , blank screen
today: Tried both GPUs separatedly , still nothing
    Tried all RAMs seperately
    Removed all driver
    changed speaker
    Changed GPU to Nvidia 6200LE
    Checked CPU
    Checked CPU pins
    Cleared CMOS
    Took out battery for CMOS
AND STILL NOTHING = Rly angly ... = Blank screen
Yea , working all fans , all leds (phase of CPU) , just NO POST NO BEEP - Turn on , reboot after 5 sec and stays that way.
BTW I planned to put this board to server in next 3 days, it was on my schelude , now, I can just watch dead Board with working Leds and Fans ...
PS: It's really possible to destroy board by connecting SYSFAN bad way ?
EDIT: as I can see , under me is same problem with MSI PRO e ... NICE
    Thanks for your fast reply

Have you tried disconnecting the power cord, removing the battery and resetting the CMOS via the pins (should show how in your manual), reinsert battery, then check all power connections to mobo, ensure mobo attached firmly at all standoffs (to eliminate shorts), plug in and try to power up.

  • How to adjust volume on Audio Timelines

A couple questions about volume adjustment on the various Audio Timelines on Premiere Pro CS 5.
    1) How to adjust volume level of an mp3 on the Audio 2 timeline?
    2) How to adjust or mute volume of an 'individual' video clip on the Video 1 and Audio 1 timeline? (I have many clips on the timeline and know how to mute them all, but in this case, I'm looking to only mute certain clips in the timeline.)

Along with the material covered in the Help File, that Ann linked to, see this ARTICLE. It goes into a little more detail on the differences between Clip Keyframes and Track Keyframes (generated with Audio Mixer). While the effect of those can be the same, there are nuances, that one should make note of.
    Good luck,

  • How to adjust external monitor brightness / contrast

I just recently bought a MacBook Pro, and I am trying to calibrate my Lacie photon20vision (not mark II) but cannot figure out how to adjust the brightness and contrast. The problem lies in that when using the DVI input on the monitor the on screen adjustments are not available. You are required to use software to adjust the levels when using the DVI on this monitor. In Windows I would just go into the driver properties and adjust and all was fine. On my mac I can choose resolution and err, that's it.

    Hi
I am not too sure if I get to the Windows because screen is damaget so much you cannot see anything, but bo matter what I do external monitor is in power safe mode. And I know for sure the monitor is good - tried on different system and it works.
The whole idea is I do not need to use this laptop as portable device, I was planning to connect external monitor, keyboard and mouse and use it as office CPU.

  • Can't find how to adjust quality of clone tool

I can't figure out how to adjust the quality of the clone tool, it has very large pixels now - can anyone help?

    Noel, Nancy,
Here is an enlarged example of a cloned image showing the problem I'm having. I was on the phone for 1/1/2 hours, and even shared the screen with Adobe, they were useless!
Hopefully you can see the very large pixels around the edge of the cloned area. I can't figure out how to make them smooth (smaller) like the image I cloned from.
I just bought CS6, new and unregistered. It's installed on a MacBook Pro, OS 10.8.5. I've been using Photoshop Elements 11 with no similar problems for a while, but I wanted to upgrade my capabilities to the full version of Photoshop.
Maybe you could also suggest a good Photoshop tutorial to get me up and running?
Thanks for any help you can offer, Mike

  • Adjusting audio DVD Studio Pro

I've imported a tune to play over the menu in DVD Studio Pro. But I can't figure out how to adjust the volume.
It's very very loud. I know this is not the DVD Studio Pro forum, but the other forums don't get as much traffic, and I was hoping you could help me.
    Thank you so much.
    Jess

What I did was create a droplet in compressor from the Apple preset for Dolby 2.0 with dialogue normalization tweaked to -15dbFS. The workflow is as simple as dragging my menu music file to the droplet, them importing the resulting .ac3 into the DVDSP project.
On a side note it does seem that menu music in DVDSP is too loud if left alone. It's just one of those little quirks I've learned to work around. Whenever you're unsure of whether DVDSP can do something the rule of thumb is, DVDSP does not entail in its functionality any editing of any source media. You can move things around, script things to happen, etc but changes to the assets can't be done in the application.

  • MSI pro s3 standby

Before I get flamed I just want to say that I HAVE searched this problem, but could not seem to find a definite answer, so please don't yell too loudly.
Anyways, I have an MSI pro, and I can't get the S3 Standby state to work.  The computer goes into Standby, but when I turn it back up (with the power button, or mouse, or keyboard when I have it enabled) the computer starts up but nothing is displayed on the screen, it is not even receiving a signal.  The keyboard lights also don't light up (Numlock, etc).  I have tried adjusting bios settings till my face is blue, same with the Windows XP settings.  I have the latest ATI drivers for my 4870x2.  Any help would be much appreciated.  The only way to fix it is pull the plug or hold the power button down for 6 seconds until it shuts down. Oh, and I have bios Version 7.0.
    Thanks.

    Hi!
I have exactly the same problem as knexkid.
    My system:
    MSI X58 Pro (BIOS 7.1), Core i7 920, GTX260, 6GB DDR3 1333, bequit 550 Dark Power Pro PSU, Vista Business x64.
My CPU is running at a BCLK of 175. But what I found out is, that S3 does work, if the CPU is not overclocked.
I tried various BCLK-Speeds testing if S3 works or not.
    133 S3 works, 140 S3 works, 150 and higher S3 doens't work.
It would be interesting to know if knexkid's PC shows the same behaviour.
If that's the case, MSI's answer doesn't help much.
I think that some clock (QPI, Uncore Clock, etc.), that is depending on the BCLK is running out of it's specification and causes this behaviour.
    Anyone any further ideas?
My system is similar to yours, just different power supply, and I'm using OCZ 12GB ram. My S3 works perfectly in Vista Ultimate x64. I'm not running this system overclocked, CPU standard specs.

  • MSI pro post beep

I am used to a normal POST beep being one short beep, and all is well.  Everything on my MSI pro seems to work fine, everything boots, and no errors occur, but the POST beep is rather weird.  I will try my best to describe it: Short high, short low, short pause, short high, short low.  The last 2 beeps occur a lot quicker than the first two.  Is that normal?  I figured it should just be one short beep. Thanks

  • 10x memory ratio on MSI Pro E

I just built a new i7 920 system with 1333mhz DDR3 ram and an MSI pro e motherboard. In the bios the memory multiplier is set to auto and the ran is running at 1066. Since the ram is rated at 1333 I should be able to change the memory multiplier to 10x in the bios correct? When I went to the bios the max memory multiplier I found was 8. Am I missing something?

  • Adjusting brightness on Mac Pro

The MAC Pro I've been working on since 2007 out of now where the screen is dimmer. I have a dual screen set up and the one is normal while the other is very dark. The buttons along the side no longer work. Any ideas on how to adjust the brightness levels? I can't find an adjuster in the system preferences...

We pick something out of thin air?
You don't even list the monitor or graphic card they are attached to.
There are control panel for displays.
    You could swap cables.
    Reset SMC or PRAM
Or the graphic card could be the issue.
