How to airplay from mac

I have just resently updated my iMac to Mountain Lion and would like to know how to setup AirPlay from my iMac to my AppleTV...
thanks

Welcome to Apple Communities
You need an Early 2011 Mac or later, and an Apple TV with the latest iOS. Connect them to the same Wi-Fi and open System Preferences > Display, to select Apple TV in mirroring

It looks like they might still have it...

It's reported that if you have a MobileMe account that Apple will send you SL/10.6 for free.
    If it's a core Duo & not a Core2Duo, then it'll only run in 32 bit mode.

    Hi Beverly,
    Thanks for clarifying.
So you would like to use a wireless connection without using a Wireless router.. that can be done using the HP Wireless Direct feature which create a wireless network, hosted by the printer itself:
On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon ( ).
Touch Settings , and then touch Wireless Direct . The Wireless Direct Settings menu displays.
On the printer control panel, touch Wireless Direct again, and then choose a security option:
Touch On (No Security) if you do not want to use a passcode to connect, Touch On (With Security) if you want to use a pre-assigned passcode to connect and then touch Yes to continue
NOTE: If Auto-Off is enabled, touch OK when the control panel prompts you to disable Auto-Off .
Touch Display Password , and then touch OK to continue.
    5.  From the Mac click the Wi-Fi icon, select Join Other Network and then click Show Network.
    6.  Select the Wireless Direct network of your printer, it will include 7520 within its name.
    7.  Now you may install the Software from the link below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=al-106189-3&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
If you leave the truck, I believe the Mac should reconnect to the network automatically but I'm not sure, you may have to click the Wi-Fi icon and select the Wireless Direct network when getting back.

  • How to updgrade from Mac OS 10.3.9 to 10.4 or 10.5?

Hi, how do i upgrade from Mac OS 10.3.9 to 10.4 or 10.5? (except buying the software) do i have to achieve all my files before? is there any risks of loosing data? would i require to also buy a new Iwork office? or the 2007 version is still applicable?
Thanks for your help and reply

    aline_b1,
I'm presuming that you mean iWork 06 when referring to the 2007 version. It will work perfectly with OSX 10.4 (it has OSX 10.3.9 or OSX 10.4.3 as a minimum requirement). There are free updates from Apple for each of Keynote v3 and Pages v2, you may have these already.
It's always a good idea to backup you data whether you're upgrading or not. Something as simple as a USB memory stick will work, if you make the effort to compress the data - using the right-click "Create Archive" in the OSX Finder will be quick and easy. It'll also protect any files left over from OS9 (resource forks - if you don't know what these are, don't worry, you don't need to, compression will make sure that they are safe). Leave the original documents in place, the backup should only be needed if everything goes wrong.
You may also want to check the compatibility of all the applications you normally use with the new OS. Many of the Apple produced applications will come with new versions in the new OS. But others, like Firefox will have newer versions available if you want them.
If you want to list the programs (with version numbers) that you normally use, some here can help with compatability, and what the new versions are. You may however consider this to be revealing too much of your identity.
I'm planning a similar upgrade at the moment, Tiger is already installed (it has been since I bought it from new) on a 2nd drive, and I check the compatibility of all my applications in Tiger (it's a long list) before I will finally make the switch permanent. Some applications will continue to work, some will work with free patches, some will require new versions - of which some will be free and some will cost money.
I've also got to make sure that all my old documents (used Mac since 1985) are still usable with the applications available under the new OS. You may be more fortunate.

  • How To Export from Mac address book to CSV file

In Mac's address book: How do you export a highlighted group of *contacts to a cvs file* (so that I can import in groups by my categories into Google contacts- that way it is easier to sort/designate the contacts one I get the contacts there into Google).
I can sync them all- but then I'd have to put them into their categories one at a time, there are too many...
    thx missy
(I'm used to ms office and pc's)

Okay, *I got this issue worked out;here's how.* (Unfortunately the mac app AB2CSV doesn't open up to the screens it's supposed to in order to choose and convert or save contacts to a csv file and did crash my address book- which was very scary to see my 1533 contacts vanish!! )
Luckily somehow I had made an archive file of them all and got them back into my mac Calendar unscathed -so I lucked out...
Today at my local Apple Store in Nashville *I was shown a better way-and I'm glad to share this with you*:(They also set up my mobile me and my itouch to sync my contacts and emails too-plus got my contacts synced up to my GoogleApps acnt- so now I am in the clouds, backed up, and liberated-in spite of myself!!)
*iWorks Numbers* works similar to msExcel, so you *open up Numbers* ;get on to a *new blank page*;also *open Address Book* and highlight the contacts from your address book and *drag them right on to your Numbers page*; like magic it looks like an excel spread sheet (you can choose the columns/headers you want to use ie name, phone #,street, city, email, etc even the notes); then you go up to *Share in the menu*; *choose csv file*; and *save it*...Thank you Apple store Green Hills!! you saved me today!!

  • How to go from mac oxs 10.5.8 to mac osx 10.6.8

I bought an Iphone 5 and i can't use itune because I need a newer version but I can't have it because I don't have osx 10.6.8... where do I find it ?

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.

  • Initiating airplay from Mac Mini to AppleTV causes router to crash

    Hi,
I have an AppleTV (new) and a Mac Mini (new), both purchased in the last few months.  When I try to initate Airplay from my Mac Mini it crashes the network.  Every device on the network loses internet.  This can only be resolved by rebooting the router.  I have tried this several times, but still no luck.  Any help would be appreciated.

I can play audio on both the Mac Mini and Apple TV simultaneously by using ITunes and the Airplay icon from within ITunes.  In ITunes, I select the Airplay icon and choose "mulitiple" and select both "computer" and "Apple TV" and have volume controls for both and each indiviudally.  It works, so the devices are connected and Ethernet is not the issue.  Is there a way outside of ITunes to play audio over both Mac Mini speakers and Apple TV speakers?

  • Trouble with Home Sharing/Airplay from Mac

I am having an issue trying to access my computer through 2nd gen Apple TV. The software on the device is up to date. I am running OS X Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro with up to date iTunes. I am trying to watch a video in my iTunes library but it will not let me access my computer with home sharing. I have made sure that both devices have home sharing turned on and using the correct account. I am also unable to access my iTunes library with my iPad or iPhone. I have done this successfully in the past so I'm not sure what is causing this. Oh, it also wont let me airplay from iTunes on my Mac to the apple tv.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Same here. iPhone, Mac Mini and Apple TV3 are all up to date. Logged in and out on each device and home sharing and airplay still don't work at all. Nothing shows up in the remote app. They're all on the same network and have been. The only thing I can think of is the most recent ATV firmware update, but why would my phone be unable to see my computer??
    Any secret commands to try?

  • IPhone & iTunes - how to change from Mac to PC?

I have been sync'ing my iPhone 4S on a Macbook Pro. I need to switch to a PC.
I have searched Google and Apple Support but all I can find are ways to convert from PC to Mac.
I've imported the library.xml I copied from the Mac and copied my iTunes Music to the PC.
When I plug in the iPhone on the PC, it just recognizes it as a mobile device and doesn't connect it to iTunes.
Is there some documentation on how to convert from iTunes/iPhone on Mac to iTunes/iPhone on a PC?

  • How to downgrad from mac OS 10.9 to 10.8?

    Hi All,
I have macbook pro 15 Early 2011. I have updated my macbook pro with Mac OS 10.9(Mavericks). After fewdays my macbook become terribly slow. So i decied to downgrade from MAC OS 10.9(Mavericks) to MAC OS 10.8(Mountain Lion).
Please provide me the steps to be followed to the downgrade.
I have downloaded my copy of mountain lion and trying to install but it doesn't allow me to downgrade since my macbook has latest OS.
    Please help on this.
    Regards
    Bhasin

    Bhasin,
to downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion, you’ll need to boot into Recovery mode, run Disk Utility there, and completely erase your internal disk. Since you have an Early 2011 model, it  originally came either with Snow Leopard (and two grey installation DVDs in the box) or Lion (and no installation DVDs in the box) installed. If it originally came with Snow Leopard, you’ll need to reïnstall Snow Leopard from its grey Mac OS X Install DVD. If it originally came with Lion, you’ll need to perform an OS X Internet Recovery to redownload Lion from Apple’s servers and reïnstall it. Once either Snow Leopard or Lion is installed, run Software Update; once the OS has been updated, you can then upgrade to Mountain Lion.

  • How to change from Mac OS X to Mac OS X Server

Hello everyone? I have a Mac Pro Late 2013 with Mac OS X v10.9.4. I want to change from Mac OS X to Mac OS X Server v10.9.4. Is it possible?

If an enterprise mail server is a requirement, then I'd generally recommend installing Windows Server, with Active Directory and Exchange Server, Sharepoint server and related features.  Not OS X Server.
OS X Server includes the Postfix and Dovecot packages and related tools, and which are common Unix servers used for mail.
If you want to run the integrated mail server within OS X Server, you'll need both private (assuming a NAT'd network) and public DNS services must be entirely correctly configured — other mail servers will use any of your DNS configuration errors as a reason not to accept mail from your server, and potentially as a reason not to send mail to your server — and you'll need static IP from your ISP, and a decent-grade firewall, and preferably a firewall with an embedded VPN server and with DMZ capabilities configured to keep any server breaches contained and separate from your inner network.  Your firewall will usually need to have TCP port 25, TCP 587, and either TCP/UDP 995 or preferably TCP 993 open, and forwarded through; the appropriate ports for whatever services you're using.
You'll generally not want to have your internal, private, NAT'd network DNS servers accessible to and serving translation publicly.
Or yes, Kerio does quite well, and is definitely a step or two up from the standard mail software in OS X Server — though nowhere near what Exchange Server and Active Directory and the rest can provide for a typical enterprise.
As for many of the questions that can arise when configuring OS X Server via Server.app for DNS and mail, please see the help within Server.app.
