How to align text to another text box

I am very new to Indesign and I am signed up to Lynda.com so watching few a lot of tutorials, that said I need help with aligning text.
I have a text box that is 100mm across. It has text centered. "£5"
then above this I have in a smaller font saying "from"
from
£5
I need to get the "f" of from to line up with the beginning of the £ sign? So that If I change the price to £500 the from sticks to the "£" Sign.
To explain again the from needs to align to the left of the centred text.?

This can be done by putting the "from" text into a custom positioned anchored object just before the £ sign. You'll need to set the X coordinate relative to the anchor, and adjust the offset on both x and y to get the positioning where you want it.

Brilliant. Thanks for the reply. The file I'm using is the same one I've been using as a emplate for about 3 years now, but I've recently upgraded to Windows 8 and re-installed my copy of InDesign onto that, so I could have inadvertantly flicked one of these settings on during setup.

Copying a standard text into another text in so10

Hello Gurus,
I have an issue where i need to track offer letter,i have a standard text which is been automatically used in pb40 while generating offer letter and that is ww-offer-contract in which i need to change the code ( in textid palt )but it is read only document. i need to copy the text into another text.So that i can do the changes required in that.
If i go with Utilities-->copy from client then it is allowing me to copy but not allowing me to change into it.it is giving me the dump.Since it is asking for the permission,i went for stop protection.but still it is giving me the dump.
Any one plzz help me out with this.

There is a selection screen parameter
parameters: par_bi like rfpdo1-f100buch default ' '.
Comment this and declare a variable and pass 'X' or space into that as per the requirement.

How to align ADF column header text

Hi,
I want to align ADF column header text to center regardless of whether the contents are text (which should be left aligned - done by the "formatType" attribute) or number (which should be right aligned - done by the "formatType" attribute) within a ADF table. the styleclass attributes also doesnt work. can anybody help me pl?

Change text colour based on text in another text box

I am playing around with data merge in CS6 to layour customised artwork and I'm stuck.
I have the data merge working no probs, bringing in the correct artwork and the names to go on the artwork. What I cannot seem to acheive is how to get the names to change colour based on the club field i have in my data set.
I have the following fields:
@design - brings in the artwork
name - bringing in the customers name to be printed on the artwork
club - brings in the club name
I presume I have to apply a paragraph style to the <<name>> field to get it to change colour, I cant work out how to use a GREP style to get it to change based on the <<club>> field though.
Any help would be much appricated or alternative ways to do this.
I have around 500 records to propcess on a weekly basis so being able to automate it would be a big help.

I think it can be done with GREP styles, though I'm very weak in GREP skills.
This this example has the club name before the player's name:
I burned out trying to recreate the successful example with the player name preceding the team name. I think it used a different lookaround method. Any suggestions are welcome.
One problem I'm stuck on is how to make the expression that captures the player's name work with one, two, three, or more names, like first, middle, last, esq., etc. Currently there needs to be the same number of word placeholders in the GREP expression as there are words in the player's name.
In this example, the bteam search fails. I moved it to another position in the GREP style dialog box, but no success. I created dteam to see if perhaps there was a limit to the number of searches. It succeeded when I deleted, then recreated, the bteam search.

I don't think he/she wants leaders. I think the underscore was used because the forum removes extra spaces.

Is there a good way to replace the "view cart" text with another text?

I have this big issue i'm still stuck with, i hope someone can help me.
I need to change the text "view cart" in the cart-summary module. I have learned that i can do this with javascript: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4409239#4409239
But there are problems:
When i use this javascript:

When i add another product in the large product layout the text "view cart" is back...
When i delete a product in the cart the "view cart" text is also back
When i refres the page the "view cart" text is replaced again with "afrekenen"
So i thought, to use some javascript to refresh the page when a product is added:

This works but you can see that the text changes from "afrekenen" to "view cart" and back to "afrekenen" Also the page is rebuild again which is not a very good solution. So here are my questions:
Is there a better work around?

i imagine for your problem, you want the final example, and instead of passing across an integer value, you want to pass across the image source.

SO10 move texts to another text ID

There is no such way for MASS MAINTENANCE in Standard Text.
You have to maintain individally for each text.

How do I select similarly colored text using the magic wand?

I converted a large document from RGB to CYMK (File | Document Color Mode). I'd like to select all of the text that was RGB(0,0,0) and is now CMYK(75.02,67.97,67.02,90.16) so I can change it to CMYK(0,0,0,100). I think the magic wand is the way to do this (correct me if I'm wrong).
I have text in a dozen or more text areas. Many of the text areas overflow text into another text area. Some of the text in the text areas is "black" but there is also text with other colors that I'd like to remain unchanged.
For example, I'd like to select all of the black text in the following two text areas without selecting the red text. I thought that I could click on the black text and have all the black text (but not the red text), selected, but the entire text box is selected (and nothing in the second text box is selected). Can the wand select some text within several text boxes? If not, how should I go about changing the black? Thanks.

If I use the Same Fill command, it does select both text areas. But if I then choose a replacement color (e.g., CMYK(0,0,0,100)) all of the text in both text areas is changed to black (i.e., the red text in my above illustration also changes to black).

Overset text / text threading / little red box / shortcut ??

When I have overset text, there is a little red box with an X in it.
I click on it, and then I can "thread" the text into another text box.
However, sometimes it is hard for me to click on that little red box — I click and I click, until FINALLY I get it.
Is there a shortcut ? They put the little red box RIGHT NEXT to another little square.

I think that was the live corners tool? I can't remember, I turned it off ASAP because it interfered with me getting at the overset text indicator. Yup, it was View -> Extras -> Hide Live Corners. Especially frustrating when you're dealing with many small text frames.
Sometimes - especially when someone has not used layers in a document and I'm dealing with a single layer with a stack of twenty overlapping objects - I find it easier to draw a new text frame, then click on its in-port and connect it to the out-port with the red symbol/overset text indicator. Because it's true, it's sometimes awfully difficult to get to the outport to load up your place gun with the overset text.

How can i change the undisclosed text of Detail Disclosure in a table

I have a new OAF page, with an advanced table.
The table has a Detail Disclosure (a row-level Hide/Show in a table).
By default, the prompt is "Show" or "Hide" for disclosed/undisclosed state.
I need to change this text to another text, like"payment".
How can i change the text of the table Detail Disclosure?
Please help...

I found this reference in the guide:
In accordance with BLAF guidelines, the Detail column header text for the detail disclosure column and the Show/Hide link texts within the cells of the detail disclosure column can not be modified.
I guess it is currently not possible.

How to align the text vertical in the edit box in mfc?

I had an edit box of which height is increased than the default.Now the problem here is when I am entering text into the edit box the text is not present at the centre of the edit box, It is still aligned at the top.
After increasing the height of the edit box the text and cursor are aligned at the top as shown in the below figure.
But Actually how I want is the text and the cursor position needs to be aligned centre as shown in the below figure.
Note: "EDITTEXT IDC_EDIT_BOX,10,73,156,14,ES_AUTOHSCROLL"
Can anyone please help me how can I make the text and the position of the cursor to be aligned vertically i.e, to the centre of the control.

If vertical alignment is not possible, then use an edit box without borders, having the default height, and place it inside a static control having
SS_WHITERECT style. (In MFC Dialog Editor, set the Type and Colour properties). Both of controls will be children of dialog. Use a proper tab order. Check if the style

How do I center align the text in my text boxes if they are currently right aligned?

I created a client questionnaire in Word and then turn it into a PDF and created the text boxes necessary. The problem I am having in Adobe XI Pro is that I want all of the text in my text boxes to be centrally aligned rather than left aligned. However, when creating and editing the text boxes, I see no option to help me do so. When clients fill out the form it looks messy because the information that the fill in tables in not centrally aligned, so it makes my tables look poorly organised. Help would be much appreciated, thank you.

In Form Edit mode, right-click the field(s) and select Properties - Options, and under Alignment select "Center".
