    Hi,
No, nothing you can do. The system will work this out for you and it will allocate AVAILABLE memory for the GPU if required.

  • How do i allocate more memory to my iphoto application? i am unable to add more photos to my library  i keep getting a pop up saying not enough memory in my application

how do i allocate more memory from my hd to my iphoto application? i have over 80 gb on my hard drive, but only 1.7 gb allocated to my iphoto application & i am unable to add more photos to my library.  i keep getting a popup that says not enough application memory.

There is excessive swapping of data between physical memory (that is, the memory chips on the logic board) and virtual memory (one or more files on the startup volume.) That activity is relatively slow and causes the whole system to be less responsive. It can happen for two reasons:
A long-running process with a memory leak (a kind of bug)
Not enough memory for your usage pattern
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
These instructions are for OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks.") The procedure may be slightly different for earlier versions of OS X.
When you notice the swap activity, open the Activity Monitor application and select All Processes from the View menu, if it's not already selected. Select the Memory tab. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
    from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
The processes named "Safari Web Content" render web pages for Safari. They use a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider them prime suspects.
Another process often implicated in memory leaks is "inkjet4" or "inkjet8," which is a component of the HP printing software. If it's present, force-quit the process in Activity Monitor to solve the problem temporarily. Empty the print queues in the Printers & Scanners preference pane (which has a slightly different name in each recent version of OS X.) If you don't use an HP printer, remove the software. Otherwise, if the problem is recurrent, update the software (which may not help) or contact HP support.
"Wired" memory should be a small part of the total. That memory is not swapped, but it makes less physical memory available which may then result in swapping. If you have a lot of wired memory, that's usually an indication of a memory leak in a third-party program that modifies the operating system at a low level. Ask for guidance in that case.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total
where process is the name of a process you suspect of leaking memory. Almost every process will leak some memory; the question is how much, and especially how much the leak increases with time. I can’t be more specific. See the  leaks(1) man page and the Apple developer documentation for details.

  • Bootcamp: How to transfer more memory to the windows side? i'm running low

Wondering if you anyone knows how to transfer more memory to the windows side (partition) without having to uninstall bootcamp and start over...... I am running low on memory on the windows side but don't have either of the software disks to start over.

Too many people don't allocate enough storage space (memory = RAM) and make the partition too small.
Only things you can do is backup both OS X and Windows, remove the BootCamp Partition, reformat the full drive, and restore.
WinClone will help you with Windows. http://www.twocanoes.com

  • While sync : can't allocate more memory !!!(WCE)

    Hi All,
I'm synchronizing (/Orace/mSync.exe) several MB of data (not much more of 10 MB) on a CASSIOPEIA E-200 (64 MB) with a SD Card extension of 128 MB. While synchronizing, main memory decreases dramatically (main memory, not external memory) and finally i get the message:
    -2000 can't allocate more memory -2000:0
Other synchronizations with a smaller amount of data are working ok.
It is posible for a sync of ~10 MB to drain >40MB of main memory?? !!
By now, i'm using the SD Card directory to store the synchronized client DB, but this is not enough to solve the problem.
I think that temporary files and processes on main memory are involved in this problem. It is posible to use memory cards for this??
    Some ideas????
    Thanks in advance.
    Andris

    Humm,
I think the problem may be the size of a single table replication.
The replication of 10000 registers from this table is working ok, but replicating 25000 i get the error ("Can't allocate more memory").
Anyone knows a limitation in the number of registers or size of a table replication????!!!
    Thanks!!

    babu

    Hello
I assume you want to create multiple instance of your class.
Assuming that you class is NOT a singleton then simply repeat the CREATE OBJECT statement as many times as you need.
    TYPES: begin of ty_s_class.
TYPES: instance   TYPE REF TO zcl_myclass.
    TYPES: end of ty_s_class.
    DATA:
lt_itab      TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_s_class
                     WITH DEFAULT KEY,
      ls_record  TYPE ty_s_class.
      DO 10 TIMES.
        CLEAR: ls_record-instance.
        CREATE OBJECT ls_record-instance.
        APPEND ls_record TO lt_itab.
      ENDDO.

  • How to allocate more memmory for SMS

Hi I have 6230i, firmware V03.30. I get "memmory almost full" message, when I receive the message. I have 180 SMS in may phone, which I want to keep. How can I allocate more memmory for text messages? Memmory status: Phone =3.1Mb (Gallery =2.9MB, MMS=170.5K) Free memmory= 21.3MB. I have 512MB card, where 300MB is still free. Thank you for advice Krishna

This is one of the things that always annoyed me about my 6230i... I never found a solution for it either. My In/Out boxes filled up every 2/3 days, so it was seriously annoying...
That's one of the reasons I went for a smartphone, as the message boxes don't have a set allocated memory - they just share it with everything else... or use the memory card, which is even better.

  • How to allocate more RAM to the JVM

I use servlets which show applets in a web page, and it needs many space memory to show big pictures. I wondered if there was no means to allocate more RAM to the JVM
    Would anybody know a means?
    Thank you in advance

I know, and it is there that I want to use it, but I do not know which are the arguments to be put nor how much I can add of memory.
Is there a tutorial to use this option?
Is there a means to know the space report at present used by the JVM?

  • Is my system DV7t-3300, or DV7t Quad Edition? And how to add more memory to it?

    Dear forum,
I have an old notebook computer bought back in March 2010. It's a DV7t series. As it's getting slowly, I'm thinking of adding more memory. However, I'm not sure how much memory the motherboard can support for the upgrade.
I'm stuck with the first step, which is to decide the model number (and then motherboard) of it.
My original order email states the following:
    YOUR CUSTOMIZED HP PC
    dv7t quad edition
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
    • FREE Upgrade to 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) from 3GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 320M - For i7-720QM and i7-820QM Processors
    • 17.3" diagonal HD+ High-Definition HP LED BrightView Widescreen Display (1600 x 900)
    • LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    • Webcam Only
    • Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
    • HP Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner
    • HP Color Matching Keyboard
    • 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    • No Modem
    • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
However, the bottom of the notebook computer has a label that specifies the following:
    Pavillion dv7
    Serial: omitted
    Product: WH764AV
    Model: Q dv7t-3300.
I visited some memory buying website like 'crucial.com'. However, I was prompted to select the model and there were both dv7t-3300 CTO and dv7t Quad Edition. Unfortunately, they resulted in different kinds of memory (although the specs of the sugested memory modules seem to be the same, these two memory modules have different model numbers).
So, what model number my system has? 3300 CTO or Quad Edition?
Perhaps a suitable model number would tell me which motherboard this notebook has. Additionally, can anyone advice me about on how much memory my notebook can support (8GB or 16GB) maximum?
    Thanks a lot!
    Cruiser

    Hi,
Max is 8Gb using the following manual:
        http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01859666.pdf
    And from the following site:
       https://www.ramcity.com.au/upgrade/hp-compaq/pavilion-dv7-series-notebook/dv7t-3300-cto/73893
The above manual shows you how to add/replace RAM. Looks like you have to buy 2 x 4Gb sticks.
    Regards.

  • HT1651 How much does more memory  cost?

I need more memory asap on my late macbook 2009.  How much does that cost?!
Also, it keeps telling me that I need to free up start up disk space...how do I do that?  I've been deleting all sorts of unneeded programs, apps, files, etc?

I agree with Kappy that your issue is with hard drive space, not RAM (memory), but if you should decide you need more RAM as well you can purchase it at a reasonable price from Other World Computing or Crucial.
For the issue of your startup disk being full the first thing to try is to empty your Trash. Lots of people put items in the Trash but fail to empty it, a necessary step for reclaiming that hard drive space.
If emptying the Trash still does not leave you with sufficient disk space, you can either get a new larger internal hard drive and move all of the contents of the current drive to it, or you can purchase a compatible external hard drive and move some of the contents of your internal drive to it.
Good candidates for things that can be moved would be your iPhoto library and your iTunes library, since both audio files and picture and video files tend to take up a lot of space. If you want instructions on how to do either of those, post back and we'll keep helping you.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I allocate more memory to Photoshop CS5?

I'm using a number of plugins with Photoshop, and Photoshop often closes automatically or freezes.   The plugins use considerable memory (>1GB) and the problem may be that there's not enough memory allocated to Photoshop + plugins.   Under preferences, it lists 2100 MB allocated.  I have 16 GB of ram available.  How can I allocate, let's say, 4 GB to Photoshop to see if this eliminates the problem?

Here's my Photoshop Elements info. Do you have yours maxxed out at 100%? I have 12GB total. I guess that's all you can do.

  • ATI Mobility Radeon shared memory | How to allocate more?

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4200 using 256 Mb of shared memory, on an HP425 notebook. As I have 4Gb of memory, I would like to know if there is anyway to reach the 512Mb of shared memory. My BIOS won't let me (I hate the HP bios), but I've read that the "vmalloc" parameter passed on the kernel may do the trick.
Also, then only reference I found on the forum hasn't reached far https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=48936
    Thanks for your time!

You won't have any advantages by doing this. 256 MB are more than enough for a HD4200.
