How to and the proper way of Scheduling

Hi Everyone,
I looking forward to put on scheduling for some files that I have uploaded and I wanted to confirm before doing if it is alright what I am planning to do.

From one side I have an Excel and an Oracle table, and on the other side I do have an Oracle table, to another Oracle table. Two different scenarios.
I have already created two interfaces and executed, they are working :-)
The first one Excel to Oracle
The second one Oracle to Oracle
This is what i am doing to create the scheduling.
1. Go to the Topology Navigator > Physical Architecture > Agents > Local Agent
2. Expand the procedure and find the one that I want? and if do not have, i will create. As i did.
What is and how to create a procedure? A procedure is a way to define a sequence of codes executed in order. A procedure is designed to be reused.
As I do not have any, I assume that I should create it first, no? I do create it by right clicking procedures and then selecting inserting procedure, no?
I just want to confirm that, that is the correct way of doing it; I have gotten this info by looking at different OBEs posts.
On the name field just name it as I wanna.
On the source technology, depending on the source could be either Oracle, Excel, etc.
In my case I do need one for excel and one for Oracle, so that means that I should create as many procedures as I need? For example I am going to have four excel templates, so that means four procedures? Or could create instead four scheduling? And when I will be dealing with the Oracle tables, should I create as many procedures or a different procedure from the Excel’s one, as the source is going to be different and many schedules?
Should have a look on any other tab? In fact I have, but all the fields are kinda disabled for me? Could it be for some permission issues?
3. On the procedure that I have created so far, I have right clicked on it and select Generate scenario as the tell me on the OBE. And left by default the name and the version fields.
4. My agent is running as I am executing some Interfaces now.
5. When I expand my new scenario and get to the scheduling, I right click on it and I do not get new scheduling option. Could it be because of some right issue?
I do really appreciate your help, with this!!! I am trying to get a book about ODI as the course is very expensive, but the book isn’t released yet till the end of the month!!

First of all, thank you so much for answering and helping me!!!
Determine if you want the interfaces to run as a workflow (Excel first, then the Oracle tables) for example.
I want them separate
If you want any notification (Emails) then you are going to want to put the interfaces in a package (with additional ODISentMail tasks on success and failure) and create the scenario at the package level rather than the interface.
Well it sound cool, but I really dont know how to create a package to be honest.
What i have created so far is the procedure, and inside the procedure the scenario, and got to the scheduling part but being able to go any further.
Once the scenarios are created you should be able to right click them and insert a schedule.
I am not being able.
As for permissions - Are you logging in as a supervisor?
No, i am not. Or at least do not think so.
I presume your on 11G ?
Yes 11g on ODI and DB.

Flex/Net Connection and the Proper way to do things

Hello, I just have a question regarding flex and FMS.
My application uses Chat, Video, and Image Sharing. (Over a Flash Media Streaming Server)
However, currently each of those little attributes uses a seperate "Net Connection": nc1, nc2, nc3.
Is this the best practice or should I consolidate it all into just "One" net connection? Maybe using a class to accomplish this. Or is it a good idea to keep them seperate?

I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. She wants to sync her iPod and also backup her iPod at both places. Both PCs have been authorised. Thanks

When using office for mac or i studio after inserting several pictures, my computer locks up and the only way I can fix it is to do a force quit. Why does it do this and how I I get it fixed without a force quit?

When I try to create a document using either one of these; after inserting several photos, the computer locks up and the only way I can get it to unlock is to do a force quit. Why does it do this, and how can I get it to unlock without having to do a force quit?

Are you using versions of the software that are compatible with the version of OS X you have installed? Very often such lockups are caused by application incompatibility.
The problem may also come from trying to use both sets of applications at the same time while not having enough RAM installed. Adding more RAM may fix the problem.
The problem can arise from corrupted support files such as preference files or Application Support files or corrupted cache files.
The image files you are using may also be corrupt thus causing the problem.
You might start with:

For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation. TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible; Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided. Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or Lion and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Lion Cache Cleaner, CockTail, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. There is no confirmation that this version also works with Lion.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):

I should also point out that when I connect my iPhone, it DOESN'T appear as a connected drive on the desktop. Not sure how this can be so, since the iPhone also has a drive and also functions as an iPod if I want it to. I must have changed some setting to achieve this non-appearance, but don't remember what I must have done.

The stand isn't all that thin, but the best way is to pick it up with both arms around the screen holding the screen to your chest. Cradle the screen in your arms where your elbows are bent. The screen is then supported by your forearms and hands.

What is the proper way to deal with cascading triggers in AcroForms?
My question refers to the forms in which there is a binary question such as:
"Are you interested in travel?"
When the user clicks "Yes", there are further questions whose interactive fields are dot.hidden (or "!"), depending on the answer.
So far, I can handle the 1-level cases fine, but my doubt is how to implement nested dependencies. For the sake of simplicity, I would prefer to define the cause-effect relationship once ("Every time the 'Interested in Travel' box is checked, the field 'International or Domestic' should be visible") and send some sort of message/trigger downstream.
I would like the right things to happen (cascading triggers included) when the "Clear Form" menu command is selected.
Are those desirable features available in JavaScript (the particular JS used by the traditional AcroForms)?
Maybe I should look into C/C++ programming?

I guess my problem is that I have some basic college experience in digital circuit design, and would like the forms to be programmed and behave in the same fashion as digital logic.
The "Clear Form" menu item, of course, would be equivalent to the reset button.
Perhaps it is possible to hook my code onto the "Clear Form" menu item?

Sounds like something might be wrong there. Years ago I set up the playlists to sync to my iPhone and 'Everything' for my iPod and I've never needed to change or even check it since, ever.
However, how and why are you 'restoring' the iPod? This is not something you should ever need to do. If you restore back to original settings, then I guess that would throw away your own settings, but as I said, there should be no need to keep doing that. Or at all in fact.

I"m not sure how to use this through Direct Link ... as the timeline including all color-space things are locked down. Perhaps going through Sg in a "native" launch with some of the footage, though it would have to be in a codec Sg takes in "native" ... then doing the color chart thing, creating a Look from it, and then applying that in Direct Link sessions might be the process ... but yea, Dennis Weinmann, some advice here?

What is the proper way to use the OutputStreams write method? I know the flush() method is automatically called after the write but i cant seem to get any output
to a file. The char array contains characters and upon completion of the for loop the contents of the array is printed out, so there is actually data in the array. But write dosnt seem to do squat no matter what i seem to do. Any suggestions?

First of all... you should all take a good look at what the read() method actually does.

Pay special attension to this paragraph:
Reads up to len[i] bytes of data from the input stream into an array of bytes. An attempt is made to read as many as len[i] bytes, but a smaller number may be read, possibly zero. The number of bytes actually read is returned as an integer.
In other words... when you use read() and you request say 1024 bytes, you are not guaranteed to get that many bytes. You may get less. You may even get none at all.
Supposing you want to read length bytes from a stream into a byte array, here is how you do it.int bytesRead = 0;

write(byte[] b) will always attempt to write b.length bytes, no matter how many bytes you actually filled it with. All you C/C++ converts... forget all about null terminated arrays. That doesn't exist here. Even if you only read 2 bytes into a 1024 byte array, write() will output 1024 bytes if you pass that array to it.
You need to keep track of how many bytes you actually filled the array with and if that number is less than the size of the array you'll need pass this as an argument.
I'll make another post about this... once and for all.

The Proper way to go - Passing Serialized Java Objects vs. Web Services?

The team which I am apart of in our little "community" is trying to convince some "others" (management) that we should not use web services to communicate (move large data) within the same application (allbeit a huge application spanning across many servers).
Furthermore these "others" are trying to tell us that in this same application when two small apps. inside of this large app. are both java we should not communicate via serialized java objects but instead we should use Web Services and XML. We are trying to convince them that the simplest way is best.
They have asked us to provide them with proof that passing serialized java objects back and forth between two smaller java applications inside of a larger one is an Industry Standard. Can anyone help either straighten my fellow workers and I out or help us convince the "others" of the proper way to go?

I'm glad I wasn't one of those customers. Although I agree that a customer is the one who decides what to do, when I pay someone for consultancy, I expect them to consult me. If they know I'm trying to do something that I shouldn't be doing, I expect a good consultant to be able to show me that there's a better way (not just tell me I'm not doing it right, mind you).
We pass a lot of data using XML and we don't have any transmission or processing speed issues.
Then you either have a much better network than our customer did, or we're not talking about the same amounts of data here.

That's cool... our customer was, unfortunately, infected with Borland products, so we had to use BES. The web services on BES were run by Axis.
How large were these messages?
Huge... each element had about 15 attributes, so 1,200 elements would require 19,200 XML nodes (envelope not included). By comparison, the serialized messages weren't even a quarter that size. It's not just about what you send across the network; it's also the effort of parsing XML compared to desrializing Java objects. Our web service wasn't exactly the only process running at the server.
Anyone who understand the fundamental difference between ASCII (XML) and binary (serialized) formats realizes that no web service can possibly achieve the performance of binary Java services. Why do you think that work is being put into binary web services? I'm not saying XML is never a good thing; just that it's not The Holy Grail that a lot of people are making it look like.

What's the proper way to charge my iPod? I am confused because some people say that the ipod fast charges for up to 80% in 2 Hours and full charges up to 100% for the next 2 Hours, 4 Hours total. Now, i sync my iPod on the PC and charges it up to 2 Hours and the indicator on my iPod and iTunes already displayes the "PLUG" icon on the battery. Here's the part where i'm confused, how am i supposed to charge my iPod up to 100%/4 Hours if it will already be full w/in 2 Hours? Is it normal? :/

Lithium ion batteries don't require much special handling. Charge them when ever you want. You don't have to wait until they discharge completely. In fact, the one thing you really shouldn't do with a lithium ion battery is drain it completely and let it sit that way.

What's the proper way to use reusingView in a custom UIPickerView

Does anyone have an example of the proper way to use the resuingView parameter when implementing pickerView:viewForRow:forComponent:reusingView: in a UIPickerViewDelegate?
The documentation states that reusingView is "A view object that was previously used for this row, but is now hidden and cached by the picker view."
and: "If the previously used view (the view parameter) is adequate, return that. If you return a different view, the previously used view is released. The picker view centers the returned view in the rectangle for row."
I need to create UILabel views so I can right justify things, and I have that working by always returning my copy of the view, but it seems like things could be made more efficient by returning the view passed to me if it's "adequate". So, how do I tell if the view is adequate?
I've tried something like this:
