How to apply 3 RPC (Recommended Patch Collection)

Dear,
I am fresher in the field of Oracle EBS R12. As per recurrence of the create accounting issues on PAYABLE module: the Metalink representative recommends to apply the following patch collection:
We strongly recommends to apply the following 3 RPC (Recommended Patch Collection):
Patch 13563472:R12.AP.B
Patch 13563481:R12.AP.B
Patch 13563489:R12.AP.B
So I want to know how to apply these patches, one by one or collectively. I shall be very thankful if you share all steps to apply these patches with me.
Stay blessed.
Best Regards,
Ahmed.

I have corrected some of you steps and made below:-
1. Stop applicaiton services.
2. Stop Database Services or bring database in hot backup mode.
3. Take backup(both apps and DB).
4) Start Database or bring database out of backup mode.
6) Bring application in maintenance mode.
7) Extract the patch into a folder.
8)Follow readme document of the patch.
9) use adpatch utility to apply the patch.
10) disable maintenance mode
11) start application services and test the application functionality.
I need your help at step # 5. In this scenario, will i take cold backup of data files only or whole backup of DB Tier & Application Tier. Whole backup of DB and apps Tier.
And Please also tell me if i want to reverse the patch operation, what do i need ? only restore the data files. Please tell me step by step. I shall be very thank full to you. Your posts are always helpful for us.restore complete db and apps tier.
If you have taken cold backup prior to patching activity then to undo a patch use below steps:-
1)Stop apps and db tier.
2)Clear all apps and db mount points.
3) Restore backup taken prior to patching activity.
4) Start database and listener.
5) Start application.
If you have taken hot backup then after step 3 you need to recover the database and rest all steps remain same.

    Hello Team,
We are currently in R12.1.3 version and we have applied the below patch as an upgrade.
    Patch 19030202: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3+ Recommended Patch Collection 2 [RPC2]
After apply this patch we are losing the existing feature
    -     Sorting secondary price list on price list form is not working at all
and the new feature on this patch
    -     This patch will resolve the creation of Orphan records in OM Interface table, when a header record is deleted from Corrections screen
But when i delete the data from correction screen still the line level data is on the table (it didn't delete the Orphan records)
Please let me know any body come across this issue and solution if you have.

  • How to backout a Recommended Patch cluster deployment in Solstice disksuite

    Hello Admin's,
I am planning to use the following Plan of action for deploying the latest Solaris 8 Recommended Patch cluster on the production server's i support. My
concern is if the patching activity fails or the application and Oracle databases dont come up after deploying the patch cluster. How do i revert back to system to its original state using the submirror's which i have detached prior to patching the system :
    1) Will shutdown the applications and the databases on the server:
    2) Will capture the output of the following commands :
    df -k
    ifconfig -a
    contents of the files /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/vfstab /etc/system
    metastat -p
    netstat -rn

    ok nvalias backup_root <disk path>
Redefine the boot-device variable to reference both the primary and secondary submirrors, in the order in which you want to access them. For example:
    ok printenv boot-device
    boot-device= disk net
ok setenv boot-device disk backup_root net
    boot-device= disk backup_root net
In the event of primary root disk failure, the system automatically boots from the secondary submirror. To test the secondary submirror, boot the system manually, as follows:
    ok boot backup_root

Recommended patch sets are and to the best of my knowledge have always been regenerated twice a month.
I think your thinking of maintenance releases. When they generate a new CD image which can be used to do an upgrade install.
They try to generate those every 6 months, but the schedule often slips.
The two most recent were sol10 11/06 and sol10 8/07.

  • R12.1.3  supply chain management Recommended Patch Collection

    Hi experts,
We upgraded our EBS R12.1.1 application to R12.1.3.Our database is 11.2.03(not updated).
Please let me know what all the Oracle recommended patches we have to apply for SCM.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Neelaprasad.A.S

Yah that seems to work (just tired it by uninstalling my java client and it re-installs it) but I still get the FRM-92095 error after the initial Security Warning error.
Now if I go back and review 393931.1 I do recall it saying this:
The JRE 7 Plug-in is certified for Oracle E-Business Suite R12.0.x and 12.1.x with the following minimum patch requirements:
    - Oracle forms 10.1.2.3 or higher with Patch 14614795 or later (See Document 437878.1 titled, 'Upgrading OracleAS 10g Forms and Reports in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12' for the latest available forms patches)
I did try and apply 14614795 but I got some opatch error "The patch directory 14614795 doesn't match the patch id." and I think the next day I forgot about that issue.
Now I see if I review Doc ID 437878.1 I see there is a consolidated in bundle patch 14825718 so maybe I'll try that and hope I haven't done this all backwards...

  • How to apply Content server patch

How do I apply a Content server patch on Solaris. The Content server installed is 6.40
I followed the OSS Note Note 514500 - Importing Support Packages for the SAP Content Server.
It says Replace the Shared Libraries in the directory "libexec" of your Content Server/Cache Server installation against the files from the ZIP archive.
I do not find libexec directory on Content Server in <sid>csc user and <sid>cs user. Based on this, I have the following questions.

  • MB.ACT light OFF --- after Solaris 9 recommended patch cluster applied

After applying the recommended patch cluster to several SunFire V210s/V240s the "system ready" or "activity" light on the front panel no longer illuminates. The systems come up fine and are fully functional, just no light.
While this has absolutely no impact on usability it is a bit disconcerting for the folks in the server room when glancing at the rack and not seeing the typical green light.
I first noticed the problem in mid 2007 and have tried patch clusters as recent as last month, but the light remains out.
One interesting discovery is that if I reset (hard) the ALOM module the light comes back on. However, if the system is subsequently rebooted for any reason the light does not come back on...
If anyone can shed some light on the issue I would greatly appreciate it!

  • How to apply CPU patch

    Hi...guys...
I want to apply the CPU patch for 2-NODE RAC Database..
Actually I never applied patches..plz can any one guide me how to apply the CPU patches for RAC...
    As per as my knowledge..
    1.apply the patch for clusterware.
2.apply the patch for database level...
    is its right...
Another thing is how to upgrade the 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 for RAC ...
    plz help me..

    Hi,
you are right, clusterware always has to be on the same or higher patchlevel as/than the database so you will patch it first. Generally, the hardest part is finding the patch on metalink, once you have found it, there is a readme with every patch that has very detailed instructions on what to do. For CPUs and other patches, you will generally bring down services on one node, then run opatch on that node. Once it is done patching, it will tell you to restart all services on that first node and shut down services on the other node(s). Once you hit OK opatch will continue to patch the remote hosts.
The upgrade to 10.2.0.4 will be a bit more complicated. AFAIR there is a real installer with that one and once you are done patching the software you also have to patch the database itself which means downtime.

  • Recommended patch cluster release

    Hello,
How often is the Recommended Patch cluster released?
A Couple of years ago, i was told at a Sun event during a session, that changes has been made en the way patch cluster was created, and that the patch clusters was created 4 times a year, to make it more streamlike, instead of creating patchclusters once in a while, when enough patches has been created. I need to know if it still works the way, that patch cluster are created 4 times a year, it is to be used with patch procedures and recommendations.
    Best regards

Recommended patch sets are and to the best of my knowledge have always been regenerated twice a month.
I think your thinking of maintenance releases. When they generate a new CD image which can be used to do an upgrade install.
They try to generate those every 6 months, but the schedule often slips.
The two most recent were sol10 11/06 and sol10 8/07.

  • Smpatch and Recommended Patches for Solaris 10

    Hi,
Is there any way to make smpatch only retrieve recommended patches for Solaris 10 ?
I've seen several forum posts saying to use
    smpatch set patchpro.patchset=recommended
but other posters indicate that this only works for Solaris 9 (additionally, it doesn't seem to work at all currently:
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve recommended.zip: Not Found )
As far as I'm aware, Sun's patching policy is to apply the Recommended patches, as well as any that address specific issues you are having. This seems to contrast with the behaviour of smpatch which grabs all patches..

    Hi.
Depending on your hardware, you can use the following in place of 'current' in patchpro.patchset to get recommended patches:
    sunu45 = Sun Ultra45/Ultra25 Recommended
sftxk = Sun Fire T1000/T2000 Recommended
    sfv2x5 = Sun Fire V215/245 Recommended
    sfv445 = Sun Fire V445 Recommended

    Mohammed,
I am not an expert although I have significant experience upgrading the database and applications from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.1 and 12.1.3 in both test and production environments. The following are a few thoughts as you continue down the upgrade path:
Patch 8773483 will need to be installed in pre-install mode along with a number of other pre-install mode patches. If you haven't looked at the following note you will need to since it contains information you need:
Oracle Applications Release Notes, Release 12.1.1 [ID 798258.1]
Pay particular attention to the README.txt instructions for patch 9179588 since it wants you to merge other patches with it before applying.
Another note you need to be aware of, especially if you want reconcile past the 6 month window used for accrual write offs during the upgrade, is:
R12.0 and R12.1: FAQ for the SLA Upgrade: SLA Pre-Upgrade, Post-Upgrade, and Hot Patch [ID 604893.1]
Other good sources of information for financials are:
Impact of R12 Design in Procure To Pay Accounting Flow [ID 429105.1]
Projects Uptake of the TCA Architecture in Release 12 [ID 417511.1] <--- AR/TCA (HZ) table join information that is very good
Payments In Order Management In R12 [ID 1164613.1]
If you don't have XLE and ZX currently licensed in your 11.5.10.2 instance, you will need to license them so the tax conversion runs successfully.
If you have legal entity identifications that are more than 30 characters, you will want to be aware of the size limitation imposed on the column LEGAL_ENTITY_IDENTIFIER in the table XLE.XLE_ENTITY_PROFILES, The following job will fail if the combined values exceed the LEGAL_ENTITY_IDENTIFIER column length which is shortened in R12:
    xleupg01.sql
There are lots of potential pitfalls in an R12 upgrade. You simply need to test, test, and test again everything you use, read the RCD's and R12 documentation as much as possible, etc ... Having said that, there are many good things about an R12 upgrade too, from both the functional and technical perspectives.

  • How to apply 11.2.0.2 Patch Set on the existing 11.2.0.1.0 database

    Hi,
I am having a standalone 11.2.0.1.0 database running on windows 2008 r2 64 bit server.
I have already downloaded the p10098816_112020_MSWIN-x86-64_1of7 & p10098816_112020_MSWIN-x86-64_2of7 patch set software.
I wanted to know how to apply this 11.2.0.2 patch set on the existing 11.2.0.1 standalone database.
I could not find any document that gives preinstallation+installation+upgrade+post installation steps.
All i can see is only readme & welcome document and it does not give any above steps in it. It recommends to choose "Out-of-Place Upgrade" but does not give any "preinstallation+installation+upgrade+post installation" steps. Some documents say to install the 11.2.0.2 software in a new home and then use DBUA to upgrade. Is this merely enough or should we follow any other steps for preinstall and post install?
Can someone share the steps/links on how to apply the 11.2.0.2 patch on the existing 11.2.0.1.0 standalone database ?
    Regards,
    Ashok Kumar.G

    Hello,
With the Patchset *11.2.0.2* you have a README ( Oracle® Database Patch Set Notes ) which give you the steps to follow and many references.
One of the main reference is the Upgrade Guide:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/toc.htm
The Oracle Database 11gR2 Upgrade Companion may give also many advices.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • How to apply patch 118833-36 on a containerized server?

We have a V890 running Solaris 10 that has two zones (containers) running instances
of Oracle database. `smpatch' won't install patch 118833-36 in the normal manner
because it's flagged as an interactive patch. The recommended procedure is to shut
the server down, boot it in single-user mode and then apply the patch this way:
    # cd /var/sadm/spool
    # smpatch add -i 118833-36
Then, you are supposed to shut it down again, do a reconfiguration boot, and finally
run smpatch again to apply the remaining patches.
Will this procedure work for a server with containers? I understand that the zones have
to be running for the patch upgrade to succeed. Is there a way to boot the zones into
single-user mode as well? We need to ensure that Oracle doesn't start during the
    patch procedures.

Log into the global zone and run :
    # shutdown -y -g0 -is
This should bring down the global zone to su mode and halt the other zones (notice Halt)
However I believe there is a bug presently where this does not always happen and you are still able to telnet to the local zones.
Local zone admin could always run zoneadm -z <zone-name> halt on each zone (notice halt not single-user).
Once global zone in in single-user mode install the patch as normal, when the global is done it will bring up each local zone to single-user mode to add the patch too.
118833-36 may need patch add and -G option as this patch also has been experiencing some issues, in which case I believe you would need to do the patch add process on each zone manually
Once the global zone is brought back up again it should bring up the local zones as well.
Let us know if you experience the locals not being halted as mentioned above and need to do it manually.
