How to apply a format to all hyperlink in CS4 file

Hello, this is my first post,
We are writing a magazine that we will publish as a PDF. We would like all hyperlink to stand out (we created a character style with these attributes: Candara Bold, Dark Red). The magazine will have a lot of hyperlinks in the form of numbers ("go to section 145") so manually formatting them is our last resort.
We could not find an option in CS4 to do so. Any idea? Maybe GREP rules? Something else?

If you were a bit more specific in your request, I think we could come up with better advice for you. John's seemingly less-than-helpful suggestion is, I think, actually the best solution if you are keying your text directly into ID. But we don't know how your magazine is being written (Word content placed correctly with File -> Place? copied and pasted from web browser? Google Docs? database?), so it's hard to make appropriate suggestions. If you're keying it in manually every time, do you have enough control over the people doing the keying so they type the same "go to section ###" everytime? Is there any chance that they'll say "please see section ###" instead? If so, and if it's easier to trust 'em to type it the same way everytime than it is to trust 'em to apply a character style, then maybe a GREP style is the way to go.
If they are already set up as links in ID, then you can shift-select them all in the Hyperlinks panel and choose "Hyperlink Options" and associate 'em all with a character style in one go. This is completely obvious to me but once again we don't really know what it's like on your side.

How to apply text formatting immediately?

When you click the button new font size is set. But the cursor in text field is not changed to a bigger one until I start editing. Also if to look at the textFlow internals in debugger you can see that new font size is not set...
How can I force this?

This is arguably a bug with a few things conspiring to cause the problem. The general idea is that each paragraph ends with a paragraph terminator and the final terminator isn't selectable - that seems to be the core of the problem. The other conspirator is that with a point selection character level format changes aren't applied until the next character is entered. So with an empty document you always have a point selection. I could see character level format changes applying instantly to empty paragraphs. I'll file a bug for more investigation.
As for workarounds - well there's always direction model calls - just set the format directly on the span. Another possibility would be to detected exactly this case and insert a character and then undo it.
Note in your sample code the refreshSelection and updateAllControllers calls after applyFormat are redundant and can be safely removed. Also any of the formats passed to applyFormat can be null.

How to change style/colour of all hyperlinks, globally

I'd like to change the default style for all hyperlinks (the blue underline thing doesn't work with the template I'm using) but I can't seem to find a way of doing it.
It'd be nice if there was a character style that could be changed globally.
Also, some links will take a colour, some won't, in a really inconsistent way.

Me, too. I produce a newsletter that it primarily distributed in print (black and white). While the PDFs are available (so I do want hyperlinks), I need something that will print properly on paper (without color). So I certainly don't want blue, and I really dislike underlining in print.
Somewhere there has to be a "hyperlink style". It really should be user definable for a document.
Other than saying I share your frustration, I have no solution. I hope that Apple will add this much needed and obvious feature.

How to apply ICC profiles on all the photos in preset before printing.   and user preset

hope someone can point me to the right direction.. I have 2 questions about ICC profiles and settings in lightroom.
1.) I found that many photos that I have is a little two blue. There are thousands of photos. I would like to know if there is a way in Lightroom to "Autobatch" the changes to all those photos.
The changes are under "white balance" -> "temp" -> (need to increase by 2)
2.) I will send out the photos to print . According to the photo stores tech, I can apply their ICC (printer/paper) profiles before sending the files to them. So, it will have better match how the photos come out.
Last time I printed some photos with them, many of the come out too dark.   But it looks fine on screen, and a little too red if I use my own inkject printer. I hope I correct this.
If it cannot be done in lightroom, it can only be done with Photoshop, please let me know. I will try to use other computer with PS installed.   just let me know the steps.

I would sugget two UI changes:
1. The enable / disable is confusing - the toggle switch to turn it on, changes the button label to "Auto Sync" to indicate that it is on. But, this is highly un-conventional and confusing - usually a button label indicates what will happen when you click, not that it is on, and clicking it will actually turns it off - bass-freakin'-ackwards if you ask me!... (Add to it the toggle switch tooltip is the same in both cases - indicating that the switch will enable it, when actually, in one case it will enable, but in the other case it will disable...)
2. Some simple UI difference that you can't ignore but doesn't bug the ship out of you either, when auto-sync is on: maybe a red-tint to the slider draggers or something...
Summary: Once you use something other than the button label to indicate Auto-Sync is on, then you can change the button label to read "Auto Sync Off". And if the On indication has an "ommi-present" quality to it - so much the better.

How to apply filters for union all report in OBIEE 11g

Hi All
Can we apply saved filters to union reports in obiee 11g?
I am able to apply saved filters for normal reports but not for union reports.
The catalog pane is blank, when i click on result columns or each criteria.
The only option i see is to manually create the filters for each criteria, dont i have any choice to use a saved filter for union report?
Is this a bug or something i am unaware. Please guide me

Filter is created based on subject area.we can't use save filter in any other subject areas.
now we can use new filter for union reports.

How to apply Property Loader to all sequences in the Sequence File?

I'm following the help instructions for the Property Loader and it states....
Use Current Sequence File—Selects the file where the step is located.
Sequence—Specifies the name of the sequence into which to import variables and properties. The specified sequence must exist in the specified sequence file. Select the <ALL SEQUENCES> tag from the drop-down list to instruct TestStand to import variables and properties for all of the sequences in the specified sequence file. You must specify a valid sequence name for the step to work properly.
In my specific sequence file I added the Callbacks: SequenceFileLoad, SequenceFileUnload, PreUUT. In addition to that, my MainSequence is calling 2 subsequences.
I put the propertyLoader step (setting few values of the SequenceFileGlobals) in the setup section of the SequenceFileLoad, checked the 'Use Current Sequence File' and selected ALL SEQUENCES tag in the 'Sequence' option. I verified that it does what I wanted. Then, is it entered the PreUUT subsequnce, the values returned to the "original" values.
Is that a bug?
If not, how do I use the PropertyLoader in a sequenceFile that include several subsequences as well as Callback sequences.

I forgot to mention....it is TS 3.5.
As per your questions-- yes they all in the same sequence file.

AS I said....I put the property loader in the setup of the SequenceFileLoad, I see that it works properly in that subsequence. Then, after the SuequenceFileLoad is finished, I do Ctl+F5 for Test UUT's. I put a breakpoint in the first step of the preUUT subsequence and check the context. I notice that the variables in the FileGlobals to whom the property loader writes, have been changed back to the original values.
I'll try to create a simple program to duplicate it but it may take me time as this test station is very busy.

How to apply template page to all pages except for logon page?

It's possible to make page items or regions conditional on the page not being a page number that you specify.
Head to your page 0, and look for the relevant item in your conditionals list. Select it and specify your login page number in there and all should be well!

Thanks Tom. Yep, that works. That was my next go-to but I'm reticent to create compound clips as I'd imagine there's a lack of individual control at that point. Perhaps that just makes one plan one's workflow. I was hoping there was another way but hey, compound clips are easy to work with and can always be separated when you need to manipulate them individually. Thanks much.

Using the REST API for files, how do I get information on all the folders and files in a folder?

I have an app that can successfully get a list of a folders content. However, by default the list is limited to 200 entries. I luckily ran into this limit when getting the list on a folder that contained 226 entries and realized I needed to then request
a list of the next items but it wasn't obvious from the REST API document how to do that. I tried sending the skipToken query parameter and setting it to 0 initially and incrementing each time I sent the request but always got the same 200 items back. So,
how do I get the list of files and folders beyond the initial list?

In SP2013 the skiptoken query parameter does not work with list items. You can look at the link below which discusses using the "__next" parameter.

i found agreat website with free cd covers for my songs that will show up in the corner of my ipod. but i can figure out how to apply the picture to all the songs in an alubm an dnot just one, i can only drag the picture into the box in itunes one by one.

Internet Shortcuts saved on Desktop open new instance of Firefox 3.6 using clean profile--how can I make it open all shortcuts using current profile?

I rely heavily on Firefox's profiling ability to assist me in my web design projects. Lately, using Firefox 3.6, I have run into some problems with how it opens Internet Shortcuts that are saved locally (i.e.- shortcuts that reside on my Desktop). When I double-click on one of these shortcuts, a new instance of Firefox 3.6 is loaded with the saved website from the shortcut, but it's also initialized a fresh profile (i.e.- my bookmarks are gone, no add-ons, etc.--it's as if it uses some sort of "hidden" clean slate to load the shortcuts).
Is there any way to force Firefox to load all shortcuts into whatever profile I'm currently using at that given moment? I think the reason this has happened to begin with is because of the fact that I did some stuff to Internet Explorer awhile back that caused some problems with the Internet Shortcut associations and it all led to this eventuality.
I'm running Windows XP Pro and have the following profiles with my Firefox versions:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox N\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p FirefoxN

"Application" is "shdocvw"...
"DDE Application Not Running" is blank...

Again, I think the root problem here is to do with the profiles and how they're handled when being opened with Firefox but I can't discern how to apply a fix with all this as I've obviously goobered this up a bit. I would really appreciate some professional knowledge on this and would prefer to avoid any reinstalls of anything if possible.

To save your sanity with this issue, my advice is to find a method other than desktop shortcuts to open those URL's.
1. Desktop shortcuts are going to open the Default Browser.
a. With multiple versions of Firefox installed that would be the last version that was installed when you have Firefox set as the Default Browser in Windows..
b. The Default Browser is going to use the Profile that shows a Default=1 in the profiles.ini file.
c. The Default Browser with the Default Profile isn't going to open if you have any other versions of Firefox already running, and the -no-remote command line parameter doesn't work in this situation.
2. The use of multiple Profiles and multiple versions isn't officially supported by Mozilla, and all the Bug reports that I have ever read about Requests for Enhancement have been WONTFIX'd by the developers. Basically we have to work with the limitations in Firefox and maybe improvise work arounds by ourselves. I've even seen a few threats about removing Profiles altogether in RFE Bug reports about Profiles.
I have had so many problems over the years with this Default Browser / Default Profile thing over the years that personally I find it easier to just set Opera as the Default Browser in Windows rather than have a Profile get b0rked because some other program I am using decides it wants to open the Default Browser unexpectedly. I don't use Opera for much, but it is a lot better than IE for purposes of being the Default Browser, considering the quirks I have seen with Firefox and multiple Profiles.
I have written a number of postings over at the MozillaZine Builds forum over the years about installing multiple versions of Firefox and using multiple Profiles. There's a lot of tips and comments provided by other multiple Profile users in one of those threads. Why don't you read those threads and see if it gives you some ideas or solutions I haven't thought of.
