How to apply a template to a page uploaded using sftp?

I would like to upload the .html document with the appropriate template using sftp instead of applying the template using BC's back end.

Hi,
You cannot apply/assign a template to a page via sftp. You'll need to action this via back-end or using DW. Since you prefer not doing this in the back-end DW extension would be the alternative.

I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs (just a blank area where the SWF should be). When I detach the template it will play the flash file. This site will eventually be updated via Adobe Contribute. And I just discovered that when applying a template to a page that uses HTML datasets (Master/Detail),it no longer reads the Master/detail regions and displays a blank. Any thoughts?

Firstly, you shouldn't really 'apply' a template to a page, you should create a child page by going to FILE>NEW>Page from Template. Too many things can happen when applying a template the way you are doing it. eg:; editable and non-editable regions not matching up and being asked where to place these regions and in all likelihood, you end up with 2 or more of the same region.
When a swf file is inserted into a page, a corresponding Scripts folder is written automatically is stored in the root of the site - it is also linked to in the head of the document. What I believe is happening is that when you apply a template to the page, the Template has no idea that there is a swf file on the page and is not aware of the correct link to the Scripts folder. If you do a test and add the swf file to the template page itself, I bet that the links to the swf and the scripts folder are correct - because DW knows the correct path to the script file. Hence the reason the page probably works when you detach it from a template.

I have created a website in Fireworks, and exported it to use in Dreamweaver. How do I use the Master page in Fireworks as my template page in Dreamweaver? When I bring in the .htm files from fireworks, it tries to bring in the entire page. I have taken 25 hours of online training for Fireworks and Dreamweaver through Lynda.com, but there is not a specific video that tells you how to get your website from Fireworks into Dreamweaver if you want to utilize the Template and child page features.

Use Fireworks to crop, slice and optimize images only. DO NOT allow any graphics app to generate your HTML code for you. This results in poorly formed code and rigid layouts that invariably fall apart when you attempt to edit them in DW. Fireworks / Photoshop generated pages are for quick prototypes or design comps to show the client. They do not work well on production sites.

After applying a template to a page design view is blank - I can only edit in code view.

When I apply a template to a page everything is fine. I can see the page elements in design view and code view. I can edit the page and upload it and all is fine. However, when I save the page with a new name or close the page and then reopen the design view is empty, the code view is normal. I would like to be able to see the page in the design view and cannot. I don't know what to do. I hope someone has an idea for me. Thank you.

When you say "template" are you talking about the .dwt Template file from DW?
If so, you may be using it incorrectly. Once you create the .dwt, all of your new pages need to be created via File > New > Create Page From Template and then saved to your site. If you are using the .dwt file and doing "Save As" to create more pages, you're going to run into all sorts of problems.

I think that product has nothing to do with it. You would use LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

How to set a template to multiple pages

I'm using Oracle Portal 10.1.2.0.2 and I've created a hiearchy of pages and a template with regions for banner, navigation portlet and content area and I want to set up this template to multiple pages. Manually and uncomfortably, I can edit my page and in [Template] tab in [Properties] select my template. But how can I do it for example for a whole page group? Default template for page group doesn't work for me - though I've set up it in page group, in a particular page I still see [Page template]=none with no effect. Is it possible to do it through some sql query? (With specification of region, in which the page will be mapped?)

Observation:
Pages from one page group can't see templates from another page group. In case of multiple page groups I have to put my templates in [Shared objects]. Unfortunately I didn't find a way (if even exists) how to copy template from one page group to another, especially to shared objects :(

How to Auto Select some RadioButton on page load using ADF/JSF

I am learning ADF and need some help. I have multiple radio buttons and couple of text boxes on my page. How can I make some radio button be selected based on some value from a database table and also populate the text boxes with the corrosponding value when a page loads. Any tips on how it can be done using ADF. Any sample tutorial will be helpful.

Hi,
when you e.g. use ADF BC then the radio button should be selected automatically based on the value of the attribute. If the row is new then you can have a default value specified in the ADF BC ViewObject attribute.
However, if you just dragged the radio button and checkboxes onto the page - not using any ADF binding - then you will have to create a managed bean with a field variable (incl. setter/getter methods) to link the radio button's value property to it using Expression Language

How to apply new templates to legacy FrameMaker documents?

I have to update the overall style of a large number of legacy FrameMaker 6/7/8 documents. These documents implement a set of legacy FrameMaker templates.
I'd like to know how can I apply a new FrameMaker template to a legacy document, so that the styles of legacy document are updated. Also, is there some way to "batch-process" new template application to legacy documents, reducing the time involved in updates?

With FrameMaker 6/7/8/9 you can update existing formats.
That means, format names did not change, only their defnition.
You do this with File | Import | Formats.

How to consume JSF template in JSF page?

Honestly - I have read about templates in Web User Interface Developers Guide for Oracle ADF, and I am doing the simple steps - I create the page template e.g. AppTemplate.jspx and it is based on 3-column quick layout - I can select any facet in this template page and then edit. But then I am trying create page Dashboard.jspx, that is based on AppTemplate.jspx. Well - no facets from AppTemplate.jspx is available in Dashboard.jspx - I can do anything around the 3-column box in Dashboard.jspx but nothing inside it. So - I had intention to use AppTemplate as base template for my application but I am starting to feel, that my current solution is trying to create template page (AppTemplate), tad already uses another template (quick start layout) and so - the faces of quick start layout cann't be available in Dasboard.jspx page... My intent was to palce controls on the facets of any of the 3 columns directly in Dashboard.jspx page but currently I cann't achieve this...
Well, after my unsuccessfule efforts now I am strating to think, that - it is the intent of ADF, that I should copy my favourite quick start layout jspx page, add to my project and rename it and use it as my base app template?... This can be true, but - there are 2 strange issues: 1) why Oracle provides the possibility to choose quick start layout for template file at all and there are no sound warnings in documentation against the use of quick start layouts for templates; 2) usual OO approach is to derive from the base class and not to copy and modify this base class.

Hi,
the closest to what you want to achive is to build a base page template and a set of declarative components for the area layouts. There is a (not so well documented feature) of dynamic declarative components (information of how to use it is provided in the component tag documentation) that allows you to build page fragments within a project and define them as a declarative component. The declarative component can have facetRef elements for the developer to add components. The nice thing to say about dynamic declarative components, compared to "normal" declarative components is that their content is flattened and added to the page hierarchy, which means they also participate in the layout geometry management of the surrounding parent component.
Because dynamic declarative components are based on page fragments, you can leverage the quick layouts mentioned by Shay

How can I get templates for Avery Labels to use with Pages.

Pages doesn't have label templates built in. You can use Word templates in Pages, but I do believe that Avery now has Pages templates although I only see "holiday" ones.

First go to your TEST database. Open your PO template in the design mode.

Can a template created in Pages be used in Word?

I need to create a document template that will be used in Microsoft Word. Can I create it in Pages?

Word can't open .pages files, or Pages template files. You would have to Export your Pages document to Word format and then see how it looks when opened in Word. If you are happy with the result you can save the document as a template in Word. Not all Pages features will survive the export.

How to create a PDF document with page curls using Adobe CS 4?

My goal is to create a PDF document with page curls. I am using Adobe CS 4.
1.      The document was created in Adobe InDesign CS 4 where the page turn (curl) transition was applied.
2.      Then the document was exported to .swf.
3.     The .swf file was imported into   Adobe Acrobat Pro to create a PDF file with flip page or page curl transitions.
These are the problems.
1.      The background is not transparent.
2.      Page dimensions have to be increased at least an inch in width and length so that the full page can show
3.      The command and+   will not only increases the document's screen size. It increases the page margins.

PDF was never designed to support the Flash page curl effect (it didn't exist back then). Anything you try (and you've tried the standard hack) will look like a hack. Personally, I don't think the effort is worth it for an effect that's much overused.
