How to archive folder to a different Computer

I have thunderbird on both computers. And I need to have an archive folder containing old emails on a different compuer.
They were unfortunately deleted there.
Both computers are synced, but the archive folder doesnt sync.
Thanks
Gary

Are you saying the archive folder was deleted one one or both of the computers? If the PC's are synced, be sure you have sharing abilities for TB. You say "They were unfortunately deleted there." If they no longer exist then you of course cannot transfer them by syncing or any other way for that matter. If you have a copy on one, then you can transfer them a different way. Open the TB that contains the archived folder and minimize it, so you can see your desktop also. Create a "new folder" on your desktop, in TB click ctrl a ( to highlight all), then ctrl c (to copy to you clipboard/mouse), finally open "new folder" and click ctrl v to paste the items into the folder. Then you can either zip an email it to the other PC or copy it to a thumb drive, offload it to your other PC, place on your desktop, open TB here, minimize it so you can see your desktop, create a new "archive" folder and repeat steps in reverse to transfer them from the desktop into TB. Hope this helps.

i have an old dell computer that my itunes is currently on, can i some how switch my itunes to a different computer?
im planning on getting rid of this computer and getting a macbook, i still want to keeo all my songs in my library, what could i do?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • Outlook 2013 installed in English only- But Showing a Strange E-mail Archive Folder, in a Different Language

    Dear Outlook IT Professionals:
Has anyone experienced seeing a strange e-mail archive folder (in a different language, other than English), within an English only version Outlook 2013?
Basically, I found an e-mail archive folder, which is in another language, in my e-mail Inbox; that I did not create, and its properties seems to be hidden.  Therefore, I am unable to see the archive folder's attributes.  This Microsoft Outlook
was installed the English language only, but the language of the archive folder is either Japanese, or Chinese.
I have disabled RSS Feeds, even before seeing the strange archive folder, then I just verified that it is still disabled; so this cannot not be the culprit.
I don't want to automatically assume that this is a security issue, so any logical technical explanations/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Security programs may cause such issue, please temporaily disable all your security programs to check the issue again.
In addition, we can start Outlook with /cleanviews switch in case it is caused by a corrupt view. To do this, exit Outlook, press Windows key + R, type
outlook.exe /cleanviews in the Run dialog and press Enter.
Also try /resetfoldernames switch to check the result. Use it with the same way above,
    outlook.exe /resetfoldernames.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to open itunes library on different computer?

    Hello all.
I have my itunes library on an ext HD. I was running it on a old, pre-intel G5.  I tunes version is very old.  OS is old. Computer has crashed, I cannot provide versions numbers, or more machine info.
I would like to open the itunes library on ext hd on a different computer (mac mini) running itunes 10.
I have tried to point itunes to itunes folder on hard drive.  itunes recognizes the new location (change itunes location in preferences)  However, when I restart itunes, my ext library itunes files do not show.
    Please advise.
    GC

Those boxes are checked like in the screen cap.  A lot of the exclaimation points went away, but it's now not recognizing podcasts I already had in my library. I looks like to would have to re-download all of them.  Some regular music tunes still are not found. Need to manually locate them
I think the checkbox setting applies to all files that are downloaded from here on out, but not the old stuff.
Years ago, I had to manually locate all the files and it was a major PITA.  I think there were never organized properly in the first place, so the problem continues to haunt me.

  • Scan a folder on a different computer for new files

    Hi all,
I need to scan a folder for new files. I already have a deamon that can do this without a problem. What i need to do, is to scan files on a different computer. The program is going to run on a windows PC and needs to get data from a machine using Unix. I was able to get this done between two windows PC by mapping the drive of the other computer, put i cant do this with Unix.
I found on the net a class used to make an FTP client(edtftpj-1.5.4). This works fine to get the folder contents once, but it dosen't scan it to see if there are new files. I could of course just loop this FTP client, but this could get very slow if there are to many files in the folder.
So do you guys know of a way that i could scan this Unix machine for new files?? anything to give me a hint on where to look would be apreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

why should we help you make a program that can be used to spy on people, because that's what you're trying to make (even if it's not your current purpose for it, but then it wasn't the purpose of the person who wrote the Michaelangelo virus to write a virus...)?
It doesn't work on Windows either. As you noted you need to create a drive mapping, which effectively makes the mapped drive available to the other machine as if it were a local drive (applications, including Java applications, don't notice the difference).
You can install a daemon on Unix machines that allows you to expose drives on them for access over networks as well, similar to what you can do with Windows machines.
    That's your best bet.
Alternatively you will need to create some sort of server running on the Unix machine which does the work for you and reports the results to your main application on demand through a network connection.

  • How can someone else with a different computer retrieve all my past text messages?

How can someone retrieve my text messages whitha different computer, as far back as 6 months ago. Someone is reading all my past text

    Yeah no kidding.
I have a big paid up MobileMe account with tons of gallery stuff - this will all go away for me in July, and I'll miss it - it took no learning to use, and it was built into everything - just intuitive to post to a gallery password protect it, and send a link to a friend.  Click click done!
It bothers me a lot when features I really enjoy and use are pulled in these half baked new apps and services.
iMovie used to be quite good, but the new one is very restrictive - it's a step backwards in some ways.
MobileMe was fine, but iCloud takes away the Gallery???? - another step backward.
We use some iPhones at work for shooting some videos and technical engineering photo's, and while it's pretty cool that the iPhone photo's get put on the photostream of "Jason's iMac", I don't have instant access, and I would really like to be able to do that. If it could be done, then I can stay at home and work sometimes and I can get the photo's automagically.
    Apple - please fix this.

  • How do i backup iphone on different computer

I`d like to access my itunes library, apps & back-up my iphone on a different computer as my default computers internet has stopped connecting
Any help would be much appreciated

    Hello ryan tate
You would not be able to access your complete library and only purchased content is to sign in and authorize your Apple ID. If this is a friends computer, the best way to do this is to create a new user to keep your data separate from their data.

  • How to install itunes on a different computer

Can't wrap my head around the fact that GIANT APPLE co, hasn't figured out a way to simplify transferring all itunes settings on a new computer as easy as Chrome syncing....

Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • How can i sync music from different computer without losing pictures??

my phone randomly "deleted" all of my music. It all shows up in itunes when I plug it into a computer. The only problem is MY compuer is currently out of commision and wont be fixed for at least a month. What Im trying to do is plug it into my friends computer and get music from her iTunes but when i go to move over specific songs a little window pops up that says my iphone can only be synced with 1 itunes at a time and that the current content will be erased if i do this. Im just not sure if this means all of the music content or all of the content including apps, pictures, etc.
all i need to know is how can i put music onto my iphone from someone elses itunes without losing my pictures or affecting any other content on my phone?

Did they change that or is it just that way for iphone? because I know when i had an Ipod classic.. or whatever theyre called.. I could definitely get music from mulitple computers. I had music from at least 4 different itunes accounts when I had that ipod.

  • How to manage Folder names in different languages

In our project we are implementing IMAP protocol and using Exchange server. When an account created in Exchange, many default folders are created. We need some of them for example Outbox,Sent Items,Drafts... But these folder names are language dependent. These names can be in English or in Turkish. On the other hand in different Exchange servers these names can be different. For example in exchange 2003 Outbox name is "Gidenler" but in exchange 2007 its name is "Giden Kutusu".
1- Is there a method that can be used to get folder with its type. As I looked at Exchange Server I saw there is a property that shows folder type like "Outbox,Draft...".Folder names can be change language dependently but this types never change. If it is impossible
2- How can I manage these folders? Do I have to try all these names? (I think its not a good solution because these names can be in an another language)
    Thanks...

    Hi,
    two ways:
    1. translate the queries with the workbench. But this is not easy.
    2. Easier is: logon in the query designer in different languages and translate all items.

  • How to update iphone on a different computer

I am trying to update my girlfriends iPhone on my iTunes on ym mac. How do I do this without he rlosing any of her stuff. I simply want to perform a software update only.

Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.  This is the design of the  iphone.
It will erase the content when you sync.
Why not update from the comptuer with which you normally sync?

  • How tocopy a CD from a different computer than the one I am synced to

My daughter got a Beyonce CD for Xmas.  Her iPhone has its "synced" library on an iMac27 which do not come with a CD drive anymore.
So we go to our MBP and load the CD into iTunes there.   Then connect her iPhone so we can transfer the CD onto it.  But everytime time I try to do that I get the dreaded "You can only be synced to one iTUnes library - Do you want to erase your iPhone and sync to this machine" or something to do effect.
Well I don't want to sync to this computer.  I just want to copy a CD onto her iPhone.
Why does iTunes insist on making the simplest little things so maddeningly complicated.  All I want is a simple copy.
I have her iPhone set to Manually Manage Music and video on the iMac27 but when iTunes on the MBP says that it is set to Automatically Sync and when I try to change it to Manually Manage it says that it will erase all the contents of the iPhone.
    This is sooooooooo irritating.
    Thank you for any suggestions!
    iPhone 4.  iOS 7  iTunes 11.1  Mac OS 10.8.5
PS:  I tried to do a search on this subject but there are too many keywords and I couldn't find a similar case with answer.
PPS: Are there any good alternatives to iTunes?

Her iPhone has its "synced" library on an iMac27 which do not come with a CD drive anymore.
So we go to our MBP and load the CD into iTunes there.
    So far so good.
Now that the CD is ripped on your computer, copy the song files from your computer to a flash drive.  Take the flash drive to her iMac, where you can add the files to her iTunes library.
Then, she can sync her phone to her own library, which will now include the new Beyoncé tracks.

  • How can I update on a different computer?

My Mac G4 is down, needs  a power suppy. I really want this UPDATE for the iPhone! I have a windows 7 notebook, I hooked the iphone do it and it said it would delete all my music/apps/etc if I updated it and i shoul  use the computer that i normal use. But I cant
Is there anyone to update it? I guess I can have what is on my phone now moved to this notebook and update, then movie it back?
Why cant i just update with out losing stuff. Any help at all?

If all of your music, apps, etc. are from the iTunes Store then you can download them again from the Cloud after you update.
If some of it is not then use this software to move everything from your iPhone to the computer first:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Add everything on your computer to the appropriate locations (iTunes, photo software, Outlook, etc) then update your iPhone and sync everything.
You won't be able to use iCloud with your G4 when you get it back.

  • How to restore iPhone on a different computer

We have 2 new iPhones. 1 was restored on the Apple desktop computer. The other would normally be done on the Apple laptop, but the laptop is having issues. Can we restore the second phone on the desktop somehow?

    Hi Tejasisonfire,
I am afraid that you will lose any songs/videos associated with your old iTunes library when you sync. I am assuming you don't have a back-up of your old library?
The good news is that you will not lose any purchased content that you have already transferred to your new library.
    Thanks,
    Acros-Krik
