How to asmcmd cp non ASM files to ASM on a remote node

We have a 8TB database, RDBMS 11,1. on Solaris 10, non ASM. Need to copy the 1290 files to remote node of AIX ASM to prepare for a upgrading to 11.2.0.2.
We tried to use asmcmd cp to copy the files directly from non ASM too ASM remotely, but did not work.
$ asmcmd cp -ifr [email protected]:/oradata/prdsdev/datafiles/dev_4.dbf +PRDSU_DATA/PRDSU/TEMPFILE/dev_4.dbf
Enter password: ********
Argument "normal" isn't numeric in numeric ge (>=) at /optware/oracle/11.2.0.2/grid/lib/asmcmdshare.pm line 1676.
errors
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin)
We were using the user fttr. Do we need to login as SYSASM, do we need to go through OS auth, any other privilege required. What instance do we need to login, regular database that is using the data files, or ASM instance is goin g to manage the files.
Thanks in advance

1. my previous question is if asmcmd cp can accomplish the task.
2. RMAN COPY, as I know, will either copy non asm files to ASM files locally, or copy files asm to asm across nodes. which means that we have to do two steps, rather copy the non asm files to a node of asm directly.

    how do I locate non picture files and location? I'm getting low memory and can't find word,PDF etc

    iPads don't have a filesystem like a computer, Files of that nature must be associated with an App and reside inside that particular App's file space.  So the way to find them is to open the App that opens that file type and look in its file or document list for them.

  • How to publish a non scorm file to open in new window on LMS?

    Hi, I've published an elearning module to our LMS, but I can't get it to open in a new window.
    I've published some captivate courses before which all did open in a new window. The difference with this one is that all the others were scorm (had quizzes which this one doesn't.)
    Is that the problem? I did try to publish the file as if it were a scorm file (tick 'enable reporting for this project') but then the LMS could not open the course.
    The file is published like: elearn output: disabled, display score: no, enable access.: yes. Output options: export html
    Any ideas?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello and welcome,
    Several factors will be responsible for the SWF output file. You use high resolution (ppi, 24-bit; sometimes I have better results with Optimized which cannot be set here but has to be done in the slides themselves), probably needed because of quality. You can reduce more by setting only those slides that need this high quality to High (or Optimized) and leave the others at Low but this also has to be done in the Slide Properties and then you'll have to check 'Retain Slide Quality Settings'. But what is the total resolution of your project: widthxheight? Because that is also one of the main factors! Next question: do you have audio? Audio clips add a lot more to the filesize than slides and/or graphics. If you have be sure to keep the lowest acceptible settings for the audio. Do you have video inserted? Again... adds to filesize.
    Maybe this seems a stupid question, but I have so often seen files with slides that have an unneccessary long duration. Each second of a slide adds 30frames to your project...

  • How to expose Hibernate 'non' conventional beans into flex apps via remoting

    I am relatively new to the flex world. I am from the
    Spring/Hibernate world.
    In Hibernate, the POJO object or domain object , or simply
    beans that you use to persist you object into the database does not
    have to follow the bean definition/contract, i.e: public default
    constructor with getter/setters. There are good reasons behind
    creating those kind of 'hibernate beans' (I will call them that way
    for lack of a better name). In fact, only defining a one-parameter
    constructor (i.e. omitting the default one) guaranties you that
    your client cannot invoke your API without that needed parameter.
    Likewise, exposing only the getters for some private member
    variables (without the setters) make sense when you don't want that
    variable to ever change, etc....hibernate can do all that using
    cglib, etc....
    Now, my understanding of Flex and how remote services work
    (from what I could see in all the samples around about
    hibernate/spring), is that your java server bean get proxied
    'dynamically' or 'statically' if I wish into an Actionscript class
    object according to the rule: "values found in public bean
    properties with get/set methods and public variables ", therefore
    my public getVariable() from my 'hibernate' bean does not get sent
    back.
    This is creating me tons of problems, because the server API
    already exist and we already have a JSF implementation using
    it....Changing into flex is just my own initiative to prove that we
    can get better UI...
    What is flex/BlazeDS solution for fixing this case?
    One solution that comes to mind (not very bright, but should
    work) is to build a plain java bean object for each of these
    'hibernate' beans to ensure the translation on both side between
    the 'hibernate bean' and the 'expected' bean from flex. From the
    server to the client, It would to copy the content of the hibernate
    bean and return those 'proper' beans back to flex. On the way out
    (from the client to the server), it would have to recreate the bean
    as exposed on the server before sending it to the server).... It's
    probably not the best solution, especially considering that
    eventually as some point, I will need to define another set of
    those object, in flex, using actionscript (I think these are what
    you guys call VOs) in order to do strong typing in
    flex........becomes very tough to manage!
    Any input would be valuable.
    Thank you,

    Hi Saket,
    By 'not really complete' I'm assuming (hoping) that some work has been done on this already.  Our project requires the use of custom assets, so it's very important that we get this functionality running as soon as possible.
    Any help, unsupported or otherwise, would be great.  Feel free to email me any details if you'd prefer not to post anything public on the boards.
    Cheers,
    Kristian

    Hi,
    I totally agree with Mahir. And I just want to share one thing:
    Use %U to generate guaranteed unique names :
    For backupsets, %U means: %u_%p_%c
    For an image copy of a datafile, %U means: data-D-%d_id-%I_TS-%N_FNO-%f_%u
    For an image copy of an archived redolog, %U means: arch-D_%d-id-%I_S-%e_T-%h_A-%a_%u
    For an image copy of a control file, %U means: cf-D_%d-id-%I_%u
    Thank you

  • How to restore (not duplicate) DB from RAC ASM to non ASM

    Hello everybody,
    i am trying to recover db from RAC+ASM to non ASM no RAC node. I am running Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) on Win2003 Server. I have functional backup from my prod system.
    Here are my steps:
    *1. On prod server i make backup running this script in RMAN*
    configure channel device type 'SBT_TAPE' parms'SBT_LIBRARY=oracle.disksbt,ENV=(BACKUP_DIR=e:\backup)';
    RUN {
    backup device type SBT_TAPE database tag zal20081129;
    SQL 'alter system archive log current';
    backup device type SBT_TAPE archivelog ALL tag zal20081129;
    *2. I prepared clon instance on another server (The same Oracle version) and start it to nomount mode.*
    *3. I copied the backup from prod server to clon server to exactly the same path. (e:\backup)*
    *4. I connect to RMAN on my new node and I use the DBID parameter and I restore controlfile.*
    rman
    connect target /
    set DBID 3079749916
    startup nomount
    run {
    allocate CHANNEL CTAPE DEVICE TYPE 'SBT_TAPE' PARMS'SBT_LIBRARY=oracle.disksbt,ENV=(BACKUP_DIR=f:\backup)';
    allocate channel CDISK DEVICE TYPE DISK;
    restore controlfile from 'f:\backup\78k91lrn_1_1';
    alter database mount;
    *5.Then I check the backup, crosscheck etc.*

    Hi,
    thanks for you quick answer. But I do restore to the local file system, even if the log says:
    restoring datafile 00001 to +DATA/agost/datafile/system.272.668509367
    restoring datafile 00002 to +DATA/agost/datafile/undotbs1.273.668509387 .....
    all the datafiles are correctly restored. I think oracle uses the parameter db_create_file_dest and creates the files there.

  • How to skip non-PDF files in Action on folder?

    Hello,
    I have an Action in Acrobat Pro XI that takes a default folder and (using JS) batch converts the PDFs to text.  However, it also tries to convert *.txt files.  I don't care that it imports the *.txt to *.pdf as temp file but it then stops the batch processing by asking if I want to save the changes to the temporary PDF.  How can I bypass this?  Here is the JavaScript it executes:
        /* Convert PDF to Text File (*.txt) */
        var inPath = "../";
        var outPath = "/c/users/***/desktop/test/output/";
        var myFile = inPath + this.documentFileName
        var myFileExt = myFile.replace(/^.*\./,'');
        if (myFileExt == 'tmp'){
            console.println(this.path);
        } else {
            console.println('Found a PDF!');
            console.println(this.path);
            this.saveAs(outPath + this.documentFileName + ".txt", "com.adobe.acrobat.plain-text");
    Options I'm fine with:
    Skipping all non-PDF files from the Actions WizardCan't find a method to do this.
    Disabling the Save As prompt for the temporary created PDFs (*.txt files)
    The line returned by console.println(this.path) if myFileExt == 'tmp' is this":/C/Users/**/AppData/Local/Temp/A9R6966.tmp
    It still creates a temporary PDF.
    I tried this.closeDoc('true') but it closes Acrobat entirely.
    I hope that is concise enough!  Thanks for looking.

    Skipping all non-PDF files from the Actions Wizard
    This used to be possible, but unfortunately it's not possible any longer in Acrobat XI.
    What you can try to do is just add a Save command to your Action and hope that it saves the temp files silently (maybe you can save them in some temp folder), and then closes them and continues...

  • [JSF 2.0] How to add a non-displayed comment in JSF xhtml files?

    Hello!
    I would like to know how to put a non-displayed comment in a JSF xhtml file.
    Currently, a *<!-- My comment -->* will be sent in the HTML output.
    I've tried also:
    *// My comment*
    *<%-- My comment --%>*
    and other ideas, but they are failing.
    On the web, I red an ugly solution, implying to add one parameter in each faces-config.xml files our project could have, and asking JSF not to parse some statements (if I remember well).
    Whatever, I am quite sure it was a solution for JSF 1.0 or 0.9...
    There must be a clean way to write a comment, but I just can't find it.
    How do I write a comment that is not displayed on HTML output, in a JSF xhtml file?
    Regards,
    Grunt.

  • Moving spfile from non-asm to asm file system

    Hi All
    We are migrating non-asm file system to asm file system, we are held up in moving the spfile from non-asm file system to asm file system ...
    we tried the below method
    Recreate SPFILE on ASM diskgroup
    SQL> create pfile='c:\initTEST.ora' from spfile;
    File created.
    SQL> create spfile='+DGRP2/spfileTEST.ora' from pfile='c:\initTEST.ora';
    File created.
    after this we started both the running instance and asm instance
    but after starting the instance TEST we saw the instance still using spfile of non-asm file system
    what is the correct way of moving the spfile from non-asm to asm file system..
    Regards
    Hariharan.T

    You need to perform this first:
    First rename the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/spfileTEST.ora to spfileTEST.ora_old
    create initTEST.ora in dbs location with below contents:
    Also i recommend you to recreate the spfile in ASM as it might not be in good shape.
    When ever you start the oracle instance there is a specific order to find the oracle pfile/spfile
    1. O_H/dbs/spfile<SID>.ora
    2. O_H/dbs/init<SID>.ora
    3. O_H/dbs/spfile.ora
    4. O_H/dbs/init.ora
    in your case instance always finds spfileTEST.ora in dbs location (non -ASM) and will stop looking further. If you remove it our of the way it will find initTEST.ora which will redirect to spfile present in ASM.
    NOTE: As per your earlier update you created spfile in ASM after puttin spfile='+DG...' in the initTEST.ora..
    If you start the instance with this SPFILE you will be getting "maxmimum cursors limit exceeded" error.

    When you are performing this task , is the ASM diskgroup "DATADG" mounted or existed.. try to figure out that first whether the diskgroup is mounted/existed or not .. And also when incomplete recovery is performed oracle creates the online redolog files when you start the db with resetlogs..

  • How to translate/convert read non-mac files

    I can't open my bank statement which I download from the internet. It's in 'Money' format.
    But since I can 'translate' .xls when working in Appleworks why can't I get a downloaded equivalent version?
    What's the best way to convert non-mac files that can't be concerted by maclinkplus (which is installed in my iBook)?
    Thanks
    Gordon

    That's something to take up with your bank. Most bank & some credit card company web sites give you the option of what format you can download your account information in. Unfortunately, most don't give an option of tab-delimited text, just CSV (comma-delimited), & AppleWorks can't open CSV natively. You can, though, open the file in a work processing document & use Find/Replace to Find the comma delimiters, usually "," including the quotes & replace with \t, the "code" for tab. You will need to manually remove the beginning & ending quotes. Then select all & paste into a spreadsheet.
    Or you can do what I do for several of mine. I access my account info using Camino or Firefox, not Safari, & select > copy > paste into my spreadsheet. I use Camino or Firefox because the tabs between fields are usually copies as such. Safari doesn't "understand" these tabs & will paste as a lot of spaces & returns.

  • How to select none-adjacent files

    Given a list of files - can I select none-adjacent files ?
    I tried Alt Click, it does not work

    Yes, it is in the Mac Help files. In the Finder, click Help, and enter "selecting files" in the search. In the search results, click "Select Items." That help file describes the shortcuts. Also, here is the same help page on the Web: Select Items
    If you came from Windows, selecting works pretty much the same way on the Mac. You can substitute the Mac Command key for times you would use the Windows Control key, or substitute the Mac Option key for times you would use the Windows Alt key. This works for (most) keyboard shortcuts and many mouse actions. For example:
    On Windows:
    Shift-click files for contiguous selection
    Control-click files for non-contiguous selection
    On Mac:
    Shift-click files for contiguous selection
    Command-click files for non-contiguous selection

  • How long should a search to Include Non-Indexed Files take??

    Hello,
    I left last night doing a search in Bridge and I said to include the non-indexed files ... it has been running over 12 hours???
    Is this normal on a large server?
    If I let it keep going, will it make all the future searches faster?
    thanks!
    babs

    I just did a search of at least 14,000 files and it took less than 1 minute.
    Hence my statement that Bridge (despite being a fabulous app for ingestion and sorting etc, all the work needed before the files are ready for distribution or publishing) it is lousy for use as a DAM (Digital Asset Management).
    It is also not designed for use over a network as you already clearly stated.
    To spoil your party a bit more, I just timed my search in my DAM application Canto Cumulus Single user edition. Having almost 60.000 keepers from the last 17 years in my digital archive a search took almost 2 seconds....
    Yes it is not fair because Bridge comes (somewhat) for free with PS or other CS applications and Cumulus single user is around 300 $ I believe.
    But there are some cheaper DAM applications. All those DAM apps are pretty lousy in the work Bridge is very good at. It is just trying to get the right tools for the job
