How to assign a private IP address to a public IP address

Hello.
At the beginning sorry for my poor English. My company uses a Cisco 881 router and I have the following problem to resolve. I need to assign an local IP address from my private network to an public IP address (this is the public IP address of the SMTP server). As a result, I want to do the following thing: I would like to use an local IP address in the SMTP server settings of the email client instead of an IP address of the service provider. Device, which I have to configure with SMTP server is connected via a VPN and I can't use a public IP address of email provider. Thank you for any respond.

Now I'm trying to create a new VM in each Hyper-V with a static IP address. I have created the VM template without connecting to any network, while creating the VM, below is my settings,
VMNetwork : VMPeri01 (Perimeter VM Network)
    VM subnet  :  None
    (Grayed out)
           IP Address:
              Clicked Static IP

  • How do I open ports on my airport extreme and assign a fixed IP Address for a device connected to my network?

I recently had a security system installed in my house.  One of the features is an EPAD which enables me to have a virtual keypad on my iphone, and computer to operate the alarm system.  The technician was not familiar with Mac's and Airports.  How do I open port 80 to 80 in my airport and assign a fixed IP address for the EPAD?  Apparently this is what is needed to make this work.

There are three ranges of "strictly local" IP addresses reserved for local Network use:
    192.168.xxx.yyy
    172.16.xxx.yyy
    10.xxx.yyy.zzz
What your Router does for you is to act as your agent on the Internet.Your requests are packaged up and forwarded on your behalf, and only when a response is expected is the response returned to your local IP address.
Directing Network Traffic to a Specific Computer on Your
    Network (Port Mapping)
AirPort Extreme uses Network Address Translation (NAT) to share a single IP address with the computers that join the AirPort Extreme network. To provide Internet access to several computers with one IP address, NAT assigns private IP addresses to each computer on the AirPort Extreme network, and then matches these addresses with port numbers. The wireless device creates a port-to-private IP address table entry when a computer on your AirPort (private) network sends a request for information to the Internet.
If you’re using a web, AppleShare, or FTP server on your AirPort Extreme network, other computers initiate communication with your server. Because the Apple wireless device has no table entries for these requests, it has no way of directing the information to the appropriate computer on your AirPort network.
To ensure that requests are properly routed to your web, AppleShare, or FTP server, you need to establish a permanent IP address for your server and provide inbound port mapping information to your Apple wireless device.
To set up inbound port mapping:
    1) Open AirPort Utility, select your wireless device, and then choose Base Station > Manual Setup, or double-click the device icon to open its configuration in a separate window. Enter the password if necessary.
    2) Click the Advanced button, and then click Port Mapping.
    3) Click the Add button and choose a service, such as Personal File Sharing, from the Service pop-up menu.

  • How is the "Private IP address" field supposed to work?

I have been trying to forward port 25565 using an Airport Extreme. I know how to forward ports, and I know my IPv4 address is 10.0.1.2. The router (Airport Extreme)'s address is 10.0.1.1. However, when I go into the AirPort Utility and try to configure this, it gives me a field after "10.0.1.2" asking for some mysterious extra number on the end of this already complete address. It will not let me continue without filling this box out, but what do I put in it? ipconfig clearly shows that 10.0.1.2 is the extent of my computer's private IP. What do I put in this box? How is this supposed to work at all?
Also, the "Browse..." button to the right of the mysterious field is utterly useless; it opens a window showing nothing in particular.

Configuring port mapping on the Extreme typically takes two basic steps. Configuring the host with either a static or DHCP-reserved IP address, and then, assigning the appropriate UDP & TCP ports to the host.
    AEBSn - Port Mapping Setup
To setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings:
    1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > DHCP tab
On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
    Reserve address by: MAC Address
    Click Continue.
MAC Address: <enter the MAC (what Apple calls Ethernet ID if you are using wired or AirPort ID if wireless) hardware address of the host computer>
    IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup >Advanced > Port Mapping tab
    Click the "+" (Add) button
Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
Public UDP Port(s): <enter the appropriate UDP port values>
Public TCP Port(s): <enter the appropriate TCP port values>
Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the host server>
Private UDP Port(s): <enter the same as Public UDP Ports or your choice>
Private TCP Port(s): <enter the same as Public TCP Ports or your choice>
    Click "Continue"

  • How do I assign a static IP address?

I bought mSecure from mSeven Software for my iPhone. Had no problem assigning a static IP address to my old PC laptop, but now I've happily switched to Macbook Pro and I can't figure out how to get it done. Need this static IP address to sync my iPhone data to the Macbook Pro. Found something that said I needed to go to "server admin" but I can't figure that out either. I do see how to find my IP address (in system preferences), but I'm not sure how to assign a static address. I'm not the most computer literate person in the world, but I'm fairly teachable - can somebody walk me through this step by step (including what buttons to push to get where you guide me)? Much obliged.

Oh great, forum notifications have grown funky again.
As I understand your question, each client (whether it's a router or not) can be configured to receive its IP address via DHCP, or not. In the latter case you specify its IP address manually in the client. I can't think of a TCP/IP client that does not have this ability.
There is no way to use AirPort Utility to assign specified IP addresses to clients, though you can "reserve" a block of addresses that it will not assign via DHCP.
You can assign an IP address to a client using a directed IP packet, using Terminal (must be run as superuser):
    arp -s <desired IP address> <client MAC address>
... but this does not create any entries in the AirPort's MAC address table. Is that what you want to do?

  • HT3576 how to assigne a unique sound to a single incoming e mail address and have it aleart when in lock screen 4s Iphone 6.13

how to assign a unique sound to a single incoming e mail address and have it alert when in lock screen on 4s Iphone 6.1.3
I receive emergency requests for service thru e mails. my old BB let you assign separate sounds for incoming e mail addresses. can I duplicate that with Iphone or MUST I be woken with each and every incoming e mail?

I have email messages alert sounds turned off except for VIP addresses (of which I have only one). That means I only get alerted for that one address.
To add a Contacts entry to VIP senders in iPhone Mail:
Open your list of mailboxes in iPhone Mail.
Tap the > button next to VIP.
Select Add VIP… at the list's end.
Tap the desired entry from your contacts.
Then, in Notifications>Mail, turn off the souds for your email account but enable them for VIP.
Note that all VIP emails will have the same tone. It's more like the Priority feature on a BB than custom text tones.
    Best of luck.

  • How to assign static ip address to the server having solaris 10. i.e. nge0

    hi,
how to assign static ip address to the server having solaris 10. i.e. nge0 i.e. 192.168.3.125 ipshold be persistantt across reboots. what steps do i need to follow to put all information including gateway, netmask etc..Also i want to integrate one init script ..can i integrate it using /etc/init.d/<service name> like linux. and do chkconfig on it?i am not getting complex procedure of SPF and FMRI etc..can u help me?

Create a file in your /etc directory called hostname.nge0. Add the hostname of your system to this file. In your /etc/hosts file, assign the static IP address you want to the same hostname. You can then disable and enable the network-physical service to configure the network interface:
    svcadm disable network-physical
    svcadm enable network-physical

  • How to assign static ip via mac address on LINKSYS WRT54G2

? how do i assign an ip per mac address with this router? i can't seem to find the option and its becoming a real pain
on my buffalo router i can paste a mac address and assign and ip for each mac on my network

The feature that you are looking for is called "DHCP reservation".  This feature is not available on the WRT54G2.  Several of the newer Linksys wireless n routers support this feature.
You can assign your computer a fixed (static) LAN IP address, however, you will need to do it manually.  Linksys has some very specific rules about assigning fixed LAN IP addresses.  Be sure to follow them carefully.
Rules for using fixed LAN IP addresses on Linksys routers:
With Linksys routers, a fixed (static) LAN IP addresses must be assigned in the device that is using the address. So you need to enter the fixed address in the computer or printer, not in the router.
When using a Linksys router, any fixed LAN IP address must be outside the DHCP server range (typically 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149), and it cannot end in 0, 1, or 255.
Therefore any fixed LAN IP address would normally need to be in the range of
    192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99 or
    192.168.1.150 thru 192.168.1.254
assuming you are still using the default DHCP server range.
Also, in the computer, when you set up a static LAN IP address, you would need to set the "Subnet mask" to 255.255.255.0 and the "Default Gateway" to 192.168.1.1 and "DNS server" to 192.168.1.1
It is also important that no two devices on your network be set to the same static LAN IP address.

  • How to Assign Static IP address to iPad?

I have been having a problem with the wifi connection on my iPad. After much research online, I have narrowed it down to an ip address lease renewal bug. The iPad drops connection when the ip address lease expires. The suggested fix is to assign a static ip address for the iPad based on its MAC address.
    How can I do this?

I can't answer directly, but the following may help (for HH3B)
    Login to HomeHub
    Goto http://192.168.1.254/html/settings/a_ip_address.html
Set the lease time to 21 days
    Apply
    Goto http://192.168.1.254/html/settings/a_devices.html
    Click on your iPad
Choose 'always use this IP address'
    Apply

  • How do I assign a fixed IP address on the network?

I have a Brother HL-2070N Laser Network printer connected to my Airport Network via an ethernet connection to a switch which is connected to the Airport Extreme Base Station. The Airport is set up as a DHCP server.
I am having a problem with the printer not waking from sleep when I issue a print command. According to Brother tech support, they suggest I change the printer set-up to an IP printer but to do that I will need a static IP address on the network. They have provided the instructions on how to assign the address to the printer but how do I set up the Airport to assign the same IP address to the printer if it has to be restarted, etc?
    Thanks,
    David

You need to assign the printer an IP address ending in 201 or higher. These are addresses outside of the range used by the DHCP server in the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS).

  • How do I change the IP address of my PC connected to a EA3500 router ?

I have a PC with Windows 7 connected wirelessly to a EA3500 router. How do I change the IP address on my PC ?

What type of ip address were you talking about? Is it the private ip address that the computer gets from a DHCP server/router or the public ip address that the computer gets from your ISP? If you were talking about the private ip address (e.g. 192.168.1.1) then you can easily assign a static ip address to your computer itself. If you were talking about the public ip address then you don’t need to worry of changing the ip address it’s because the ip address will change from time to time.

  • Is it possible to assign fixed internal IP address for Azure VM ?

I setup win2008R2 Application server on Azure VM and setup Azure VPN for local address 10.0.0.0/24 and  VNET? for 10.0.1.0/24 and default gateway 10.0.1.0/25 though I do not get exact meaning of this  network settings.
By default VM OS IP setting, it get IP address through DHCP.
    1
If I make Azure VPN, it is assigned the specified range automatically ? ( in this case, 10.0.1.0/24 ).
    2
If I do not use Azure VPN, which range of address is assigned as internal IP to Azure VM through DHCP ?
    3
If I set fixed IP address in that VM from OS setting , it will survive and IP address is not assigned by DHCP both using  Azure VPN case and not using Azure VPN case after OS reboot from OS and from Azure
    Portal ?

    For general information:
Gateway - Usually this is your router. When you talk about your gateway, generally you are talking about the ip address your router uses.
NAT - Network Address Translation. When your router is using nat, it is taking data from one Public IP address, and breaking that data into multiple private ip addresses. Data is sent to your network on a public ip address, from the internet. Using nat your router then directs that data, to multiple internal private ip addresses. Nat basically breaks one ip into many.
    IP Addresses :
1-External (Public) IP Address - Every computer/server that has a public ip address is directly connected to the internet. Usually DLS/cable routers are assigned a public ip address by the ISP they are connecting to.
(The Dynamic/Static relates to how an ip address is assigned.)
    a) Static : Your ISP assigns an IP number and cannot be change by user (client).
To do : If you want to change it by any reason, call your ISP and ask them to change your IP number.
    b) Dynamic : Your ISP assigns an IP number and you can change it. This means that every time your DSL modem is rebooted, your ISP assigns a new IP number for it.
To do : Turn your modem off/on. (Wait for 15 seconds between off/on.)
2-Internal (Local) IP Address - If you are using NAT, every computer on your network has one of these ip addresses. These IP addresses are provided by your router. Your entire network can see this ip address. Computers on the outside of your network can not, because your router "hides" private ip addresses.
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to assign a public ip to SQL Listener which is on a virtual machine ?

I have 2 virtual machines which has SQL Servers installed on them. I have enables Always on Feature and added a new listener name to them. Both the VMs are in a virtual network which have private ips. The listener has also been assigned a private ip from
    the subnet.
How can I assign a public ip to the listener, so that I can connect to the listener from outside network ?
    Thanks
    Avanti

    Hi,
If you will only access the listener within the VNet (including site-to-site VPN in hybrid scenarios), then you should use Internal Load Balancing (ILB) with a private IP address for the listener. Because the ILB is not accessible from outside the Azure
VNet, this offers another layer of security. Also this makes the Listener accessible only to client applications located
    In the same Virtual Network
In another connected Virtual Network (in the same Azure region or a different Azure region)
    On-premise connected via VPN tunnel
However if you can use public load balancing with a public IP address it can be accessible from the internet.
To know more about Configuration for AlwaysOn Availability Groups on SQL, you might want to refer to the below mentioned article
