How to assign GPS / Places to photos without GPS?

I have a lot of pictures from my recent holiday in aperture and there are some iPhone 3GS Pics with GPS data amongst them.
Now I somehow dont manage to use the GPS Data from the iPhone Photos to assign those places to the Photos without GPS.
Do I have to give the Place a name or what firs? It didnt work for me to give other names to the places which have iPhone Location GPS than the names given.
In short: i dont know how to do it and i didnt find ressources anyway, can somebody help?
thanks, alexander

Have you tried reading the Aperture manual?
You can assign a Place to all the photos in one project by entering the GPS information for the project once:
*Assigning Location Information to Projects*
If all the images in a project were shot in the same location, you can save time by assigning location information to the project in Projects view. Rather than selecting images in the Browser and assigning them a location, you can assign the location to the project. Assigning a location to a project assigns the location to all versions in the project.
To quickly assign a location to all versions in a project
In the Library inspector, select Projects.
The Aperture main window switches to Projects view.
Click the Info button for the project to which you want to assign the location.
The Info HUD appears.
In the Info HUD, click Assign Location.
In the dialog that appears, enter a specific address or the name of a place, a city or town, or a significant geographical location such as a national park in the search field.
Google searches for the location you entered in the search field and displays a list of search results. Place names that match the text you entered are displayed at the top of the search results list, and Google search matches are displayed under Google Results.
Select the search result that matches the location you are looking for.
If you would like to give the location a custom name, enter a name in the Place Name field.
Click Assign.
The selected location is assigned to every image in the project.

How to add one or two photos without synchronize my 8240 photos on my ipad2 or iPhon4 ?
    Thank you

Just add the photos to the folders/location that you last synced and sync them - as only the contents of the last photo sync remains on the iPad, you have to (re-)sync all the photos that you want on the iPad. In theory only the new photos will need processing by the sync process, so it shouldn't take a long time to sync (it hasn't for me when I've added a few to my 1500 photos in the past anyway). Not including photos in a sync is how you remove them from the iPad.
Your alternative is to email them to yourself and then save them from the email, but they will only go into the Saved Photos/Camera Roll album - come iOS 5 in the Autumn you should then be able to move photos between albums.

  • How to rotate an insert in photo without rotating entire photo in Elements 11

On Adobe Elements 11 can you rotate an insert to a photo without rotatine entire photo?

Make a selection of the object which you wish to rotate, using one of the selection tools, e.g. selection brush, lasso tool
Place the selection on its own layer (CTRL+J)
Press CTRL+T to get the transform tool. Hover the cursor outside the box until you see a curved arrow, then rotate. You can adjust the size of the object with the corner handles of the bounding box, if necessary
Open a blank layer at the top of the stack of layers in the layers palette, and use the clone tool to touch up any spots that need it after the rotation

  • HT4859 How do I restore camera rolls photos without restoring entire phone?

Can anyone help me with this problem? I'm using an iPhone 4s.
I restored the phone to default settings because I lost the restriction code. Before I did that I backed up my phone using iTunes to the cloud. I've been able to restore the apps and music via iTunes so those are good.
Is there a way to restore the photos from the backups? My first attempt at restoring the phone I accidently restored from the aforementioned backup which put me back at having the phones restriction code in place.
    Thanks,

icloud storage will not help.  if you want to free up space you should import the photos to a computer.

  • How can I just email a photo without a set up and text and all that stuff?

I used to be able to select a photo and email it - no and for quite a while a whole set up appears with place for text and choices of design, etc. Can I no longer just send plain unadorned photo?    I have a MBP 2010 running Lion. Thanks.

To email photos from iPhoto on your mac set the iPhoto preferences in the "General" tab of the preferences to "Email photos using: Mail", not "iPhoto."
Then you can compose and send a simple mail like this:

  • How do I set a wallpaper photo without it zooming in all the way and and not letting me zoom out?

When I try to change my wallpaper using my own photos on both my iPad and iPhone with ios7, it will not allow me to move and scale. When I do it, it automatically zooms back in on the photo.

I have the same problem on my iPad, but I figured out the fix on my iPhone. Go to settings, general, then accessibility, and turn on the thing that says reduce motion. Sometimes that still doesn't work so you have to screenshot the picture then use the screenshot, I don't know why. But for the iPad, I did the same thing and it didn't work. I have googled it many times and I'm shocked that Apple hasn't done anything about it yet. Hope that helped!

  • How do I send an attachment (photo) without it inserting itself into the body of the email?

Under attach, I selected file and then selected a photo. It appeared as an attachment outgoing, however, it was received inserted in the body of the email. Thank you in advance.

I think this depends on the recipient's mail client. Thunderbird, for instance, when used to view a received message with a picture attachment, will display the picture appended to the message. To a casual glance it would appear to be embedded into the message.
Send your messages using plain text (not HTML) and images ''cannot'' be embedded. If they appear to be embedded then it's the recipient's mail client to blame and therefore beyond your control.
You could zip your pictures to force them to be processed as attachments at the receiving end. ;-)

Select a Photo in the iPhoto Window and click on the 'i' button lower right. This uncovers the Info Panel, and you can assign a Place there. Search on the name of the place and then move the pin to where you want it. This is all covered in the Help and in the tutorials.

  • Places Question: How to Assign Photos to Existing Location

In Aperture 3, it is easy to create a pin location for some photos by dragging them to the places map.
    No problem. Pin is created.
What I am having difficulty doing is then later assigning additional photos to that same pin.
My Canon T1i does not have gps built in.
    Any suggestions?
Also, am having difficulty changing the name of a pinned location. That must be easy, but is escaping me.
    Comments on that as well?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Regarding the comment:
Its rather tricky. There is a contextual menu activated by a right click on a pin label.
With a right click on the existing pin I do get a contextual menu which permits:
    New Place For Photos
    Assign Photos
    Move Pins
Assign photos always creates a new pin close to, but separate from, the one I want to assign the photos to.
I can ultimately combine the two pins by dragging the new one to be on top of the actual pin I want.
Seems strange. It would seem that you would want to be able to directly assign new photos to an existing pin.
    What am I missing.
Also, I do have the full paid upgrade version of Aperture 3.01

  • How to set GPS coordinates directly for a photo

I use places extensively and tag my photos using the Aperture Places.
Photos taken at the same location as another photo are easily dealt with using lift/stamp metadata.
However for some photos I only have the GPS coordinates. E.g. from a dive trip, where Google Maps doesn't help.
Then I'm stuck with a bunch of photos for which I have no direct way of entering the coordinates.
So far my workaround have been to use Houdahgeo:
    - Enter coordinates directly on a dummy photo
    - Import dummy photo in Aperture
    - Use lift/stamp metadata to transfer coordinates to my photos
I wonder if this is really the easiest workaround?
    Another workaround would be to:
    - Create a GPS track file with the coordinates
    - Import GPS track to Aperture Places
    - Place my photos on top of the imported track
However I'm not aware of how to make an GPS track file and I don't know if Aperture can handle a GPS track with only one point.
Is there a more direct way setting the coordinates?

    Thanks that helped a lot.
When coordinates are entered using N/S/E/W Google will return the nearest place to that location. E.g. :
        8.847772 N 119.9123111 E
Returns Mimaropa somewhere in the Sulu Sea, but hundreds of kilometers from the coordinates in the example above.
To get dead on accurate positioning the coordinates have to be entered in decimal format. E.g.:
        8.847772, 119.9123111
Which lands me near Tubbataha Reef in the Sulu Sea.
So what I do now is to
    Manage My Places
Enter the lat, long coordinates in decimal form in the search
Wait for Google to display the coordinates
Select it and press + to add the location to My Places
Assign a place name for the dive site
When that's done it is a breeze assigning the dive site to my photos

  • I am moving all my iphoto pictures to seperate folders outside of iphoto.  I have found iphoto slighlty cumbersome.  After I move all pictures from iphoto to a separate file how can I delete all the iphoto photos without deleting the ones in the file?

I am moving all of my iphoto pictures into seperate folders becuase iphoto is great, but a bit cumbersome when I need to transfer all the pictures to a external drive.
    1) After I move all pictures, how can I delete the iphoto pictures without destroying the ones I have in files
    2) how can I ensure that I have sucessfully captures all the iphoto files so when I delelte from iphoto I have not forgotten any
    3) is there a way to determine what duplicate pictures I have?
    Thanks!

If you Control click on the iPhoto Library, you'll see a list of folders - one named "Masters". Inside of this folder are all of your original, high-res photos. You can copy them to other folders if you like.
You can't delete iPhoto pics without deleting the ones in the iPhoto Library.
You can copy all of your Masters pics out of the Library, ensuring that you won't forget any.
I don't know of anyway to determine if there are duplicate photos - most (if not all) have a unique name assigned.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

Note Lower Right it says 'Assign a Place' and type the name of the town/city
