I created one role in that two worksets are there in both work sets one application is common and in one workset it should be only display mode and in other workset it can be editable how to make it possible it help me in this plz..............

if i understood u correctly then i think the functionality what u r trying to achieve is not permission related issue with PCD as enabling even full control permission to the iview will only allow the user to work in design time and not in runtime .
from ur replies i understood that some functionality has to be hidden or disable which u need to focus on runtime i.e on the content.
where do u get the content?
what type of iview is that?
is there any backened system involved?
is it a standard iview from portal or custunized one?
likewise there are many more possibilities to know if u wanna others to comment on ur query remotely.

I have designed a process and I have consolidated all the roles,
when I intiate the process from the runtime workset it asks to assign users to these roles(I have consolidated all the roles to three mail roles). The problem that I am facing is that the user should not see this screen, depending upon the user login id the approvers should be automatically assigned to the respective roles.

Hi Sivaprasath,
assuming that I've got you wright you could try to model the following using the callable object "business logic" and the callable object "assign user to process role".
With the help of the first CO you can implement the logic to assign the respective approvers to the users (initiator) and let the processflow go on directing it to the appropriate step where the above mentioned second CO assigns the user to the process role (using the result states of the bussiness logic CO)
At least you are supposed to need an appropriate Parameter that you can consolidate with the User ID.
Just a quick idea, hope this will work with you.

I have created 5 queries.
i have created a role based on one role(its copied), what ever the queries are asigned to that role has come into my new role which i have created.i want to delete those queries and i want to assign my 5 new queries to the new role?

Hi there,
To remove the queries simply go to the Analyzer and inside the role select the query and click on delete. If prompted if you want to delete the reference or the query simple choose remove the reference (it removes the query from the role).
To assign the new queries to the role, go to the Query designer and open the query and choose from the menu publish-ZtoRole and choose the role to assign the query.
Do this for all the 5 queries to remove and all the 5 queries to add.

I just now started using content types in document libraries instead of folder structure. The structure I was given is as follows:
Master group (library name)
L.A.
South Street
Number 1
Number 2
North Street
Number 1
Number 2

India
North Street
Number 1
Number 2
West Street
Number 1
Number 2
So, I created a Content Type called Areas (which included LA, Boston, and India) and I created choice field values for each columns (South street and North street). Then, I gave the choice values as Number 1 and Number 2.
Now, the complexity was in terms of permission levels, wherein the client was accustomed to using folder structure. And hence, they had given a set to users to have access only to Number 1 of West street of Boston. Now that I have the content
type structure in place, how do I configure the granular permission for the 3rd level of the hierarchy?

Thanks for your post. I had already done this via Windows Explorer, and it works for all of the My Docs files
but not Acrobat files, which still come up in List View. I am running Windows XP still, is that a factor?

In the User Administration section of your portal find your newly created user and below select "Assigned Roles" tab then press <Modify> button and look through available roles on portal then just simply add and save. But if you want to do it programmatically see below:

IUserAccount user = (IUserAccount) i.next();
Execute the same search for IRole (or IGroup if needed) get the unique id of them and use newRole(...) and addUserToRole(...) methods from IRoleFactory.
Of course you don't need search for this principals if you know uniqueness of them. Use appropriate factories to get'em all by this unique id.

Hi Venkat,
When you create authorization object in RSSM you only assign info object.
How did you assign respective values?
once your authorization object is saved you should find it in PFCG. even if you go to expert mode for profile generation
Check tecnical name.
Alternatively instead of inserting manually go to selection criteria and the system will display all active authorization objects and you can choose your object.

Assign permissions to com port

I am trying to get help or information on assigning permissions for com ports. I am getting communication read errors on software that we use to read meters. The com port is correct in device manager and for the particular software. Communication is good,
as long as we are logged in as administrator. We have assigned admin rights to the software for the users, but it appears that the com port needs admin priviledges assigned. The software vendor recommended giving admin rights to the user over the entire machine.
I would only do that as a last resort. Does anyone know how to assign permissions on com ports?

If you don’t want to grant the administrator privileges for your users, I suggest you distribute the software via Group Policy.

Also, if these COM ports are usb based, check the usb devices too.
As I known, it is not possible to access Advanced screen or Advanced settings without the administrator rights. This issue is more related to hardwre device drivers, you'd better follow the device manufacturer's instructions. I think, you may give admin
rights to the user over the entire machine as software vendor recommended.

CUA with HR-Org - How to assign systems for role

Dear all,
we are planning to use CUA with HR-Org assignment. Can please anyone explain to me how or where the system for the role comes from.
I mean, normaly in SU01 -> Role Assignment I have in the first colum the system and in the second colum the role. It the role assigment come from HR-ORG there is always the local logical system in the system colum. This is not what we want.
CUA is on Solution Manager, HR-ORG is replicated from R/3 HR Systeme and the user needs the roles in ECC production systeme.
So how can we manage the system/role combination assignment?

Hi,
If I understand your problem you want to do role assignment from the HR-Org structure on a system that is using CUA.
I have only managed this successfully when the CUA master is also the system with the HR-Org structure on it. Otherwise you have lots of issues with replicating data between systems. I did this for a UK council's SAP solution where we allocated all the roles from the HR system, including roles on ECC, SRM(EBP), CRM and BI - so it does work.
PO13 on the system with the org. structure will only allow you to allocate a role that exists on that system, but if the roles that you are allocating are composite roles that include single roles on other systems, you can achieve this sort of business role allocation without having to go the IdM route.
Darren Hague (no relation) gave a presentation at SAP Tech Ed 07 on such a scenario, that explains how the composites would be set up far better than I can, but in essence you use the CUA connectivity and the rights of the CUA master system (which includes the org. structure) to allocate roles on other systems / clients in your CUA landscape.
Have a search through SAP Tech Ed 07 presentations and you should find what you are looking for.
