I am wanted to know how to attach a PDF document to my work item which i will be geneating . Pls let me the Method coding to be done so that I can send the attachment also when the work item is generated ..
What is need to pass to Workflow container ...

Ah ok,
then the only way I know is to get hold of some one with skills in Smart Forms, and alley up with them. Or better yet, use it as an excuse to learn to do it your self
With a Smart Form, you can parse data into it, create the file, and then use the GOS functionality to attatch it to your BO. All this in back ground!

Hi,
We have scenario in which we have to attach a document file to a work item of a workflow. The workflow is triggered by a Function Module (FM). The document file to be attached is place in the file system of the R/3 system. The FM provides the file name to the workflow. Please tell us how to attach a file to a work item?
Also we are triggering the FM from an Enterprised Portal screen, so we cant use any transaction (T codes).
We are trying to implement this using an SOFM object but no success. Please give the solution in detail as Im new to workflows.

We are triggering the FM from EP screen so no transaction screen would be available.
Alternatively we have done the following:
First we have placed the document file in a folder of the application server. Then an FM reads the file using OPEN DATASET and stores it in an internal table of type binary. Now using SWL__SOFM_CREATE_WITH_TABLE we are generating a key and this key is passed to the SOFM object, which is used to generate container element for attachment. The attachment is visible in the work item but when we try to open the attachment, microsoft word giving the following error:
"the document may be corrupt or damaged. Use either the Recover Text converter or the Open and Repair feature. Both are available from the Open dialog. The Recover Text converter is in the Files of type: drop down and the Open and Repair feature is available from the Open button (select the down arrow and not the button itself)."
We assume that there is some problem while reading and converting the document file to binary and vise a versa. Is there any other way to keep it consistent and it works fine.

Invoice data will be stored in a staging server, same has to be read and posted in SAP. Till posting part i am clear with the requirement. Invoice data will be in a flat file which i can read and store in my Custome table.
But customer is asking to attach a PDF document (which is a kind of supporting document not the invoice data) while doing the posting.
My queries are:
1. How to fetch the PDF files placed in an external staging server.
2. How to attach those files while doing the posting/parking as job is executed in background.
I want to use BAPI BAPI_INCOMINGINVOICE_PARK for parking the Invoice, but where to attach the PDF.
Or can i do BDC to attach the document?
Any info on this is highly appreciated and rewarded.

To create the task for attachment
Use the BOR SELFITEM and method NOTES_APPEND.
The out come of this task contain a link called attachment with a clip attached. Clisk on that icon and choose the type of attachment u want . RAW , EXCEL , TXT , PDF... Then using the import icon u can attach the document u like.
But the TYPE : OBJ.
Similarly using NOTE_DISPLAY method u can display the documents u like.
In any work item u have the facility to attach any atttchment for further circulation .
Attchment @ WORKITEM
1.Click the workitem for which you want to create the attchment
2.Press create attachment
3. Add the attachment u like (PDF)

We have a requirement to attach a PDF document to a Device Location. Ideally we are looking for an approch to upload a PDF document which would contain some instructions for the Business Users. This would help the user to check the PDF document and perform Activties according to the instructions.
Could you please guide through, if SAP allows for such an option to upload PDF file or any document to a Technical Object.
It would be appreciated if you suggest few examples as well.

I too found that option later. I shall Explore more on that.
One quick question, services for object works find for Technical Master Data but for some reason its not working on Business Partner. The options in it ate grayed out. Any Idea ?
Also, Services for object is not available for another user. Is it realted to any profile settings or will be in default to all users ?

It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):

Hello Janagar,
Pdf file is not at the desktop to attach using GOS.
Pdf file is at Document Management System, requirement is to attach it to the sales order item.
Note: DMS file can be always allowed to attach at item level.Please dont bring GOS concept here.
It can be done manually via VA02 --> Extras --> Documents.
I need to automate the above process.

Attaching a PDF document to an order from Web

We have a requirement to attached a PDF document to an order in SAP from a web front end (its a custom web application written in cold fusion). We currently create orders from this web application which talks to SAP via XI. I know that using the "Services For Object" option in SAP GUI we can upload external document. Is there a BAPI that can be used to send the document from WEB to be added as an attachment on the order?

Hi Tom,
ArchiveLink is a service integrated in the SAP Web Application Server for linking archived documents and the application documents entered in the SAP system.
Linking documents according to content guarantees long term easy access to the documents. From the screen of the application document, you can directly display the stored document that is associated with it. You can also use attributes to search for documents. This replaces time consuming processes such as making copies of originals, searching for procedure-related information, etc.
There would definitely be content repository which will be connected to SAP through archivelink. Pls confirm the same with Basis.

Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac. If you have an Intel, you do not have a PPC. If you have a G5, G4 or G3, you posted to the right forum, and just need to find the version of Preview you have in Applications folder.

Sorry we do not support this. What you can do though is add a Formatted Text element and add a link to a PDF. To insert a link add some text, select the text and right click on the text (or look under the Insert menu in the top right of the scene)
