How to "attach" text window to "main" window of InDesign?

I'm running Mac 10.6.8 and CS4 on a Mac Pro early 2008, 8mb RAM, Quad Core, 30" screen. I open the InDesign application window and then an .indd window on which I enter my text. My problem is that, for many situations, I'd like to keep the "main" application window "attached" to the .indd window rather than having to move them each separately. This would be especially useful when I have many windows open for other applications, but only one .indd window open for InDesign. How do I do this?

It works! Thank you. The strange thing is, I already had a check mark on it, but I unchecked it and then rechecked it and it worked.
BTW, I've not visited this forum for quite a while. It was difficult to find my way to the InDesign Discussions. There's so much stuff in between logging on to Adobe Forums and getting to this location. I consider the changes a huge step backward. I realize that you're probably not involved in it, but I hope someone who is sees this feedback about the forum layout. Fortunately, it's only a one-time problem. I've made a new bookmark for this forum.

You can use the Hyperlink inspector to create a link to any file which will download when clicked on.

Since the information is variable and coming out of the print program, I can assume you want to print many labels but two to a page. Also, any page numbering, etc will need to be updated. This is easily accomplished with SAPScript but a feature people rarely use I believe. Here are the simple steps:
1) On the Windows Screen: Creat a main window for the size of the label, etc knowing that you will be putting multiple windows on a page. For example, if page size is 8.5 x 11, maybe your window size is 6 X 4 or something similar. You only need one main window defined.
2) Now go to Page Windows Screen. Add a window MAIN and down at the bottom where it says Window Type put in MAIN. Next to this field is a little field about two characters long. In here put in '01'.
3) Now Add another window MAIN and down at the bottom put in '02'.
Hopefully this gives you the idea. I've done this with up to 30 small windows in order to print variable window for labels on label stock such as Avery 8167, etc.

How to create floating windows in InDesign for images

Hi guys, any help on this would be much appreciated.
I'm designing a document in InDesign that will be exported as an interactive PDF, and within the pages, I have some thumbnail images which, once clicked, will need to open a floating window in the document with the full image. Just wondering if anyone could please help me out with some instructions on how to do so.
I don't want it to open a browser window, therefore just attaching a hyperlink to a web address is not what I'm after. What I'm hoping is the images can be embedded within the document, and then activated once the thumbnail is clicked.
Hope that makes sense but if you need me to clarify anything please ask.
I'm using CS6.

Go to Tv.Adobe and do a search for interactive and/or object states.
One other note: search for the topic with workflow export to SWF and replace in PDF.
If you don't want SWF, then only use buttons (no object states).

I'm surprised that Muse does not support text columns yet, but perhaps the custom CSS can be added in style tags on page properties. Haven't tried it, but don't see why it wouldn't work.

If the Created boxes are side by side, use Tab or paragraph format (right aligned). If the second box is at the bottom of the main window use new-line command and create a text element and all the same using print program

I have been tearing my hair out over this, but found this thread which seems to be exactly what I am seeing
(sorry for some reason I can't post links or images they have been stripped out)
However the answer, scars me a bit and I need someone to step me through it.
I have run SMBIOS viewer and spotted an odd looking character after the version 1 (looks like two
small square zeros) removed it from registry but this did not solve the issue.
ran winsat formal with admin error. failed to load XML An invalid character was found in text content winsat\main.cpp(1041) unable to process
xml file. winsat\main.cpp(4742) Error: cannot process assessment results cannot load xml data from string an invalid character was found in text content from interface msxm16.dll:Ixmldomdocument2
Please help, I am tearing my hair out with this :(

Have you tried to reset WEI as I mentioned above? What is the result?
For HW info, we can also run msinfo32.exe to display the info.
we can also reset BIOS to the default setting to check the issue.

How to create an Interactive pop out window in inDesign CS 5?

Happy New Year everyone.
How do I create an interactive pop-out window in inDesign CS5? I want to have a filled content frame which has image, text and a border. when the user clicks on that frame, a pop-out window frame appears slightly over the previous frame in with a drop shadow fx. Then when the user clicks the pop-out window, it closes and the original content frame appears. Attached is a screenshot for reference.

For what end product? HTML? SWF? PDF? Offset print? (I don't think so, but I might as well ask.)

As I've mentioned before, almost all of the Cocoa documentation and examples are in Objective-C. Just about the only ASObjC specific documentation is Shane Stanley's AppleScriptObjC Explored ebook, but even that refers to the Cocoa documentation (although there is a little additional help in converting). As eww said, that computer isn't specifically made for gaming. To get advanced graphics in a game, your computer needs what is called a "discrete" graphics processor, or GPU. This means a seperate chip that processes graphics. In Apple laptops, these are only found in the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro. It is not common to find these in laptops in general that are not expensive and high-end. What you have in yours is an "on-board" or "integrated" GPU. This means that graphics processing is done by a small portion of your main processor (the Intel i5 board). This takes away a portion of primary prossessing and dedicates it to graphics. This works perfectly find in most scenarios, but video rendering, gaming, and 3-D graphics tend to suffer. Most high-end, modern games require discrete GPUs to run at full quality these days.
As far as running Windows 7 and Mac OS both, yes you absolutely can. If you install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (this would require you to have a Windows 7 CD), when you turn on your computer it will default to opening up in Mac OS. But if you hold down the Option key (bottom of the keyboard next to the Command button) while the computer is booting up, it will ask you if you want to open Windows or Mac OS.

How to open new window and generate oracle report from apex

I had created an application that generates PDF files using Oracle Reports, following this Guide.

And I followed 'Advanced Technique', so that users can't generate PDF file by changing URL and parameters. This is done for security reasons.
But in this tutorial, when 'Go' button is pressed, the PDF file is displayed on the same window of apex application. If so, user might close the window by mistake. In order to avoid this, another window have to be opened.
So, I put this code in the BRANCH - URL Target. (Note that this is not in Optional URL Redirect in the button property, but the branch which is called by the button.)

But if the button is pressed, I get this error.
ERR-1777: Page 2100 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.
Restart Application
If I put the code 'javascritpt ....' in the Optional URL Redirect, another window opens successfully, but the Process to generate report job is not executed.
Does anyone know how to open new window from the Branch in this case?

Try putting your javascript into your plsql process using the htp.p(); procedure.
For example, something along these lines should do it:
BEGIN

htp.p('popupURL("&REPORTS_URL.quotation&P2100_REP_JOB_ID.")');
htp.p('</script>');
END;
What happens is the javascript is browser based whereas your plsql process is server based and so if you put the javascript into your button item Optional URL Redirect it is executed prior to getting to the page plsql process and therefore it will never execute the process. When you have it in your branch which normally follows the processes, control has been handed to the server and the javascript cannot be executed and so your page throws the error "Page 2100 provided no page to branch to"... By "seeding" the plsql process with the embedded javascript in the htp.p() procedure you can achieve the desired result. You could also have it as a separate process also as long as it is sequenced correctly to follow your other process.
